Fix A BICYCLE - Single Speed Bicycle Tune Up - Bicycle Repair

Single speed bikes may require minimal maintenance, but they should still be tuned up and maintained regularly.
This customer brought in their single speed commuter for some flat replacements. After going over the bike, I determined they could use a basic tuneup to get the bike back in like new condition.
The tires were fortunately fine, but there were two small punctures in the tubes from the outside, after confirming there was no debris stuck in the tire, I installed some new rim tape and installed the new tubes with the tires.
The chain and freewheel were gummed up and a bit rusty. After cleaning the freewheel up, I dropped a little bit of lubricant into it to help free up the bearings. After the wheel was reinstalled and the chain tensioned, the chain got a degreasing and some lubricant.
The brakes both needed some adjustment, as they were pulling straight to the handlebar. The brakes were also not releasing very quickly, so I lubed up the brake cables and housing.
Finally, the customer requested a bottle cage and a bell! The bell in the video is one of my favorites…it’s a TACO BELL! 🛎️ 🌮 😂

@Jeff_Rey that is better but going up hill on a fixie is bad for your knees. The absolute worst are ones with now free wheel and no brakes

​@@timothyhendricks3004 it just depends how light the gear ratio is, for example. tracklocross bikes, they are track bikes with wide tires and a light gear ratio for spinning and easy skidding (:
