    Since here in Europe no bicycle shop has the tools to get the thread in your tube, you need to buy everything yourself and after a one time use its just sitting around...
    I would probably still go for the threaded one because it looks more minimalistic. Actually I´m in the market for one for 11 month already. It´s just always sold out or out of stock since forever :D

    fyi fox 34 2012-2015 works with edc v1, maybe even v2, with the threads tapped. I took a gamble and found it works great, only exception is the full size storage capsule doesn't fit as the diameter shrinks down lower in the steer tube. Not sure if the compact capsule fits. But the tool itself fits flawlessly

  • @jpxc1329

  • @antesupe1627
    @antesupe1627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have to say, I think I would've bought this threadless carrier had it been available at the time when I purchased my EDC V2 Tool. However, after threading 2 forks of mine, I really prefer the threaded top cap (and threaded steerer tube) vs. a star nut. I can't imagine the headset ever coming loose now. Not that that was some nagging problem, but it has happened a few of times over the decades I've been riding.
    However, if you ride XL/XXL frames (with long head-tubes), and like a lot of stack under your stem, this threadless carrier is compatible with significantly longer steerer tube lengths, which is definitely nice.

  • @dabooge
    @dabooge 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got one for my hardtail that has a raceface turbine r35 stem that I prefer now I can just swap the tools between bikes without spending extra coin on another edc stem. I'm a machinist and was already thinking about something like this seems like they read my mind. I'm not much of a fan of the edc stem with preload ring it works but this setup is better in my opinion.

  • @godswitness3105
    @godswitness3105 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use the Specialized, steer tube tool. The top cap looks near stock, yet twists a spring mechanism to reveal the tool.
    If you need to use the chainbreakerbyou use the tool to unthread the bottom for nut.
    It has a space for.a chain link and I added a short length of chain just in case.
    Just another alternative!

    This doesn’t work on straight steer tubes. The inner diameter of straight steer tubes bottleneck as you go down, so the carrier will get stuck and won’t go all the way in. I’ve advised OneUp to update compatibility fine print on their website.

  • @mleavitt787

    Whats that starnut for that you need to remove from the fork ? Also "mushrooming the washer" what is that referring to ?

    • @ItRainsPennies
      @ItRainsPennies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A star nut is a special nut that gets its name from its star shaped metal flanges, which keep it securely fastened inside your steerer tube. Together with a top cap and bolt, it allows you to compress the fork and headset components together, removing unwanted “play” between these parts. “Mushrooming the washer” refers to a washer folding in on itself (creating a mushroom shape) when force is applied in one direction from a bolt, and the washer is not supported over an adequate amount of its surface area from the other side. This causes the bolt to start to “push through” the washer in the middle, bending the washer and creating the mushroom effect.

    Cant figure out how to use / find the valve core tool, help!

      It is somewhat hard to describe, but it is hidden by the spoke keys on the tire lever. Use the t25 to loosen the spoke keys from the tire and you will be able to use the valve core tool from there. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! (360) 306-8827 or sales@thelostco.com

    The minimum is 220mm for rockshox forks. Just tried doing it on mine (which is a 210mm) and it didn’t work

      Carrier was too long ? What fork was it ? What about EDC lite ?

  • @mtbradar

    Is someone able to confirm for me if this is true - threadless carrier = only small storage attachment on the bottom = no room for chain breaking tool..? There’s no compatibility information on their website

    • @TheLostCo
      @TheLostCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Threadless Carrier can only fit the small storage attachment on the EDC V2 tool, but the V2 tool has a chain breaker tool on it.

    Does this work with trek knock block? I've never had my stem or top cap off to see what in there

    • @TheLostCo
      @TheLostCo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From our knowledge, yes. The Knock Block is an external item on the stem, so you should be good to go.

    Fox 38 performance steertube is non-oval? The bottom of mine looks oval... Am I missing something?

    • @TheLostCo
      @TheLostCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey JW, if you truly have a Performance and not Performance Elite Fox 38 with an ovalized steer tube, please send us a picture to sales@thelostco.com
      Aftermarket Fox 38 Performance do not have an ovalized steer tube, and according to Fox they do not make an OEM Fox 38 Perforamance with an ovalized steer tube.

      @@TheLostCo realized the company I bought the fox 38 from cut the original steerer too short and replaced it with another CSU (must have been from a performance elite).
