    At first I thought this was going to be another fake video, but this lady knows her stuff. It is great to see mechanical work like this, taking care to give the best set for camber, dropping the car to ensure proper preload before locking down the upper strut bolts. It was great work and I can't believe she did everything without touching any power tools! Way to go, glad to see this video!

    VERY well done and so clearly presented! Thank you so much! Where was TH-cam when I was High School age, I'd have done everything myself :)

    Got an 06 E and finishing up the starter replacement. Front struts are next and this is my favorite video so far. You keep it simple, explain well and I'm glad to have a women instructor for once :)
    Thanks for the tips!

    Great video! One thing to note: The bolts for the ABS line and the flex hose must be replaced as the TRQ threads are different. You'll need two M6x100 bolts and two M8x100 bolts.

    Thank you for this video! I just sat down after spending the afternoon doing exactly what you did in the video. It was a piece of cake, except for when the knuckle flopped down. The inside CV boot was cracked, and it pulled the joint completely apart! What a mess! Please, please, please edit your video a little bit to warn people not to do this! The knuckle must be supported with a cinder block or something! Luckily, I was already familiar with this issue because I replaced my ball joints two years ago. I have the Honda factory repair manual, and it explicitly warns not to allow the inside joint to pull apart. Thankfully I was able to fix it by pulling off what was left of the boot, and with the help of an extra jack to support the knuckle, I was able to pack it with fresh grease, wiggle the joint back together, and slide the boot back on and then secured it with a zip tie. And I've ordered one of those two-piece split replacement boots, and that will be a project for next weekend.

    Sue, Thanks so much for reminding us to watch out for the CV boots when removing the strut assemblies. My '92 Acura Integra was not as lucky as the Acura mechanics punctured the top of both CV boots and said nothing. Great video

    Very important to support the CV axle so it doesn’t pull out of the differential. The joint may fall apart and the oil seal can be damaged.

    🤔I encountered the same problem that Michael Shea spoke of. I, too, loved this video . . . until this happened. PLEASE re-edit it to warn others of this potential problem. Unlike Micheal, I to not have access to the Honda repair manual, and I cannot figure out how to get this inner joint to wiggle back together. Anyone have any ideas. To quote Bruce Willis's character from Die Hard: "And I was having SUCH a good day" until this happened.

    I wonder if this can be done without a car lift? I can’t get the strut back because the lower suspension is at an angle to the strut so I can’t get the top bolt back in.

    I have 1aauto strut assembly on all fours. After two years, it's making creaking noises. When the car is parked, as I turn my wheel the front is creaking ridiculously loud at the strut. I sprayed some liquid wrench at the front lower assembly and now it's gone. Do you have any idea what is going on?

  • @DGSantaFe

    Once the struts are replaced is alignment needed?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DG Thanks for checking us out! Typically it is the best to get an alignment to ensure there is no unnecessary wear on any of the suspension parts, tires, or the new strut. This does vary vehicle to vehicle but generally it is recommended.

    • @KCkohler
      @KCkohler ปีที่แล้ว

      Because on the back the the strut is just hanging from the top so your not torquing the bolts with pressure from the other end of the strut attached to anything. On the front the bottom of the strut is attached to the arm so it would be like torquing those bolt and trying to lift the whole bottom of the car
