    A Bazooka,or automatic taper is better. Same speed and you can load more mud into one and tape more flats and angles. Plus with the length of a bazooka you can reach higher ceilings and walls without having to wear stilts.Which of course is safer.

    • @Maxkil
      @Maxkil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kenneth.
      Yeah I totally agree with you however you can't run basecoat through the bazooka.
      well you can but I've heard of peoples mixes going off quicker than what they expect and ruining the tool.
      So in this case if you want to finish the job and not just finish the taping first coat and come back the next day when it is dry...
      You need to use base coat.

    • @mccartneystuart
      @mccartneystuart 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Maxkil what is your base coat? Hot mud? We use bazookas but would never put hot mud in a bazooka as you've pointed out and would ruin a high dollar bazooka but same principle as your banjo. We use all purpose for taping then go to lighter muds for floats. The only thing we use hot mud for is patches usually from electricians trying to find wires. We do mainly commercial and we are the painters. Here in my state the painters do the drywall finishing. It works out so much better as we fix anything needed instead of waiting on drywallers.

    • @robertbrowne4049
      @robertbrowne4049 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stomata Hatachi It covers the joints where sheets meet and helps with expansion contraction. If you were to examine the edge of a plasterboard or drywall sheet you would see that the last 50ml is concave there is an indentation where it butts up to the adjoining sheet. This helps, the tape sits in this indentation and can more easily be covered with mud or joint filler as we call it in UK.

      @@drywallgangsters i actually prefer to bead AFTER taping flats. After all, the point of taping is to seal in seams while crossing over the ends. Bead crosses over the ends of tape, both flats and angles (inside corners) alike.
      Edit: Although no one seems to want to hear that on my end. Mechanical work first, compound work second, they say. Whatever.

      @@drywallgangsters I gotta know this too. Why wipe down with a 6 inch knife , coat it, then finish with a hawk? Use an 8 inch blue steel knife to wipe down. Done. Fills in nicely.

    • @drywallgangsters
      @drywallgangsters 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@meagaindave2049 usually we tape at the same time as they are being put on by another person so not many are on usually before the flats are taped but have never had an issue with the seams where the bead covers it and tape has gone over the top of the bead not underneath. Also using an 8 inch just spreads the mud to the edges of the recess which we used to do but this board has very deep recesses and doing it this way fills it much more and second coat flats dry much quicker this way!

    Some differences with our skills:
    their mud looks thicker than tooth paste than our mud-maybe because We use extension handle for chasing up the taper,less powerful than direct mud knife work;
    we have less mud bedding behind paper tape ,and fill the joints up after tape mud gets dry enough;however,we do the same the these boys when we use fibrefuse tape.
    good to see these boys working keep me learning
