I like that you are always smiling and not shouting like some youtubers. I believe You can change the size of the pop up text box maybe it also makes it easier to copy the text. ( I wish they put these text message pop up boxes on the bottom, why it is on the top so difficult to reach up for them). I would be very curious how would you evaluate iPhone after 15 years of Android.
thank you, what a lovely comment! 🥰 Yeah, it looks like that setting will help me, will definitely give it a go! I like your idea, I do wonder myself if I am just enjoying this so much because I was bored with iOS and someone on Android would feel the same about the iPhone. It should be interesting to see hwo the iPhone 15 compares!
@MrKhan-71 Ikr. Bro, it's a smartphone... Doesn't need to be a James Cameron-esque production while you scream at me about its 3 feature that changed since the last model. Be calm, tell me the good things and what's shit about it, i click like, maybe subscribe if i like the vibe and move on.
I’m known as the Apple sheep within my family, I switched to S23 Ultra at launch and I’ve absolutely loved every min of it. It’s so refreshing. And I’m 1 person that never ever thought I’d stick it out. My family is still in shock!
Wow! I keep saying... this is the best smartphone in a loooooong time. Looking forward to reviewing the iPhone 15 but I don't see myself going back to using an iPhone as my device any time soon
@@biggy8724Let me know how you go with moving saved passwords over, I’m on the fence & have used an iPhone my whole life.. idk how id go without my Apple Watch though.
@@Tsaunders1307 im a week and a half into switching to the 23 ultra, amd watch 6 classic. No regrets at all, i was apple since the 6 upto the 14 i traded in. it takes some getting used to the layout
About code problem : Select detailed instead of brief in notification pop style. All the messages become bigger 👍 and easy to copy and if u want to just make text msgs bigger to copy codes while rest small....u can do that too
One thing that dramatically speeds up switching the camera on and switching between all apps actually, is to turn developer options on and go to window/transition/animator animation scale settings and turn them all to 0.5 or in my case I just turn them off completely. Makes switching apps so much faster.
This phone is amazing! I had the chance to use my friends for a couple of weeks and didn’t want to give it back. Love the camera, video, so much better than my 14Pro imo. The battery life is unbelievable, easily two days and working in the Middle East it didn’t get hot and laggy like my 14Pro. I’ll be changing to android S23U on my next home break back to the UK 💯 Excellent update on the s23, thankyou.
I love my S23 Ultra I must say, and the improvement in video quality over my Exynos S21 Ultra is huge. Truly night and day. No more rampant noise and soft mushy detailing and even complete detail dropout, as on my 21U. At last a Samsung device that can capture quality video indoors!. The shutter speed/ lag problem is something I sometimes experience when photographing moving people or pets etc. indoors, but not that often to be fair. I found it interesting to note that when I panned the phone to match the movement of some motorbikes at a recent vintage rally (on a bright warm sunny day) the resulting photos were incredible in that they captured the bike and background as if the bike was at a dead stop. Even the spokes on the bike wheels were at a dead stop. I don't know if the panning motion made a difference here or what?.
As for the camera shutter speed lag, the massive 2.2GB June update has solved that issue. There are settings that you can opt for, max quality or quickest shutter speed or a balance for shutter speed and quality. So there you gave it 3 options in your camera settings.
It still needs some tweaking but is better than pre that update. Samsung should have the default setting as quicker shutter speed like most other OEMs.
Yeah to be honest, it's not something I've seen myself, but I know a lot of people complain about it. For me it's been a stutter that happens 2-3 times a week, just when launching the camera app
After reading your comment, I tried using the auto mode indoors to take pet pictures (for a while, I was using pro mode with higher shutter speed), and the photos were very sharp, indeed. Not blurry at all! Thanks for the info. The June or July update must have done something to make the camera faster.
What i like about Samsung Galaxy S series phones in General and S23 Ultra in particular with its SD8Gen+2 chip is that i can literally use it as my mini pc, my mini xbox and a camera.
Surprised about your issue with the face recognition 😮 every Samsung I've had, it works so accurately it annoyed me. I couldn't just look at my lockscreen without it unlocking, I even turned on "stay on lockscreen until swipe" because of it's accuracy 😅
Alex, thank you. Great video. Some remarks: - Facial recognition is a joke and should be removed altogether, specially because it is unsecure. I wish Samsung would bring back the secure and wonderful eye scanner. - Camera app stutters upon start: you won't find this tip anywhere, so please let me know whether it solves the issue: when the camera app is opened, launch recent apps and activate "Keep open". The camera app won't be killed anymore and is always instantly there (of course you have to start it at least once😀). I just don't remember whether the option is kept after a phone restart. Btw., you can keep upto 3 apps always open. - The shutter lag problem has two different aspects. The first one is whether the picture should be taken upon touching the shutter button, or upon releasing it (default behaviour). Can be changed via Settings -> Camera assistant -> Quick tap shutter. The second one is the shutter speed. Samsung prefers by default high quality over shorter shutter speed. This can be changed via Settings -> Camera assistant -> Shutter speed. I myself use always pro mode and set the shutter speed manually, if needed.
Thank you!! I am glad I am not alone on the facial recognition 🤣 Thanks for the tip on the camera app, I will definitely try that and let you know, or include it in my next video 👊🏼 The shutter lag hasn't been an issue for me to be honest but anything to imrprove the speed is always welcome so will definitely change that setting. Have a great week ahead, and thanks again for the amazing tips!!
You need to change the notifications style to "descriptive" or something in the settings to get the copy otp option right from the notification. I had the same issue when I got my Samsung but that option fixed it.
I have had this beast since it launched in February (so roughly 6 months now). While I was super amazed at how good the battery backup used to be in earlier months, I do not feel the same now (around 5 to 5.5hrs SOT with 70% WiFi and 30% on 4G). Having the 45W capability kind of eases out the situation (might be contributing to the faster degradation too in other words). Another thing that irks me is the unnecesary sharpening of videos on Auto mode (without changing anything on the Camera Assistant app) which drastically improves on the Pro Video at auto settings. This might have something to do with the camera software but in day-to-day scenario, makes it a bit too cumbersome having to always shoot in Pro Video. Nevertheless, these are a couple of things that wouldn't matter to the general consensus.
Weird.. I use the phone like 4 hours a day and when I go to bed it's around 60%. The first 10% draines fast and then it goes very slowly. All my settings are on max.
The better battery life is great for me as I'm always paranoid of not having enough battery, so I never let my phone go below 20 percent. As soon as I see it hit the 40s, I'm immediately looking for my charger or battery pack to make sure it's available.
@@doe9de995 hang on, I looked it up there because I was always told by people to let it die once a month, but from what I've just seen, you don't necessarily need it to die, but just don't leave it charging overnight
My sister has the 14 Pro Max and I the S23 Ultra and I agree that the 14PM does have better sounding speakers. Other than that, S23U straight up murders the 14PM. 😂
RE: S Pen... definitely said something along those lines 😂 RE the copy and paste if codes etc. If you use Samsung Keyboard it automatically copies it into the clipboard and should have it sitting at top of the keyboard like on iOS. But I agree with the toast notification (that's officially what Samsung call it) it's absolutely not big enough This was awesome. Thanks for another shout-out mate! 🙏👏🤙
I tried to find a clip where you said it, but couldn't 🤣. Decided to leave it in anyway. Yeah I think I was running out of things to make up the '5 things' so some of them are merely annoyances
Change pop up notification to 'detailed' instead of 'brief' so more info on messages etc, you can reply directly and copy numbers etc. Also, gboard (and Google messages app) gives an autofill function for onetime passcodes, it lifts the numbers from a SMS and populates the field automatically
Just the video that I needed. I've been using the Flip 4 for some time and would like to switch to another one. I've been eye on the whole S23 series (interested to switch to 23+ but there aren't that many reviews of that phone around) and the Pixel 7pro. The deal with Samsung right now is fine, but not sure about the timing of getting a new phone. Feeling really undecided honestly. I've been switching between Android and iOS anyways so it's not my concern. I only want a good non-boring phone for now, also, not too pricey...
Thanks, glad it was useful! I think the S23U could be 'phone of the year' this year. When the Fold 5 comes out, it may come down in price so would be a good phone if you get a discount. At full price now, it probably isnt a good idea since the iPhone 15 is nearly out too and could be better, who knows...
@@AlexGTech My biggest concern is the price. If you think about the price tag, it's just daunting and incredible to believe that people are willing to pay so much for a phone while they may not be able to pay half of it for a new TV every year or every few years! In Canada, there aren't that many options. When I lived in Asia things were much more affordable overall (including phone plans etc.). Now things have just skyrocketed so much! Anyways, I look forward to your upcoming videos on not only reviews, but maybe thoughts or advice on new or older devices?
Facing Battery issue, After 10% it dies within 5 minutes and I was like what the hell is wrong with my device. So yeah it annoys me too. Rest all is good with device.
Anytime you want to open the camera app and snap faster just press the power button twice and hold the down volume without waiting for the up to completely open, it will snap burst.
Minor stuff you mentioned. Won't go back to iPhone, until iPhone matches what my S23 is doing right now. The multitasking alone and the S Pen will keep me in the Galaxy camp for years to come unless IOS does something earth-shattering.
This year I finally own an iphone as a 2nd phone, and the learning curve is steep for me from android to ios. but what I like the most about apple is the app. Like for example the widget for Lifesum in samsung is so simple compared to ios which is much informative.
yes, the iOS experience can be really smooth. I hated iOS16 but loved hte previous ones. I am curious about iOS17 but also really enjoying OneUI. Exciting times!
@@AlexGTechI have an iPad for a tablet. When it comes to OS, I gave Apple a FREEZING SHOULDER ! I haven’t updated since iOS 13 .. 😂 I hope Tim wouldn’t get mad enough to Cook my device !
yes indeed you're correct. One day when I slept, I left my phone around 19% as I remember, then in the morning... BAAMM... it's dead. Hope SAMSUNG can fix this issue. Goog video as always. 👍
Right!? It caught me out a few times, but mostly my fault. My brain is probably still used to the iPhone when it gets to 5% and it seems to last forever 🤣
Awesome video! I've been enjoying mine since release everything about it is just so good, it may or may not help but for me I have the double press of power button to activate the camera and I find it's the absolute quickest way to get to the camera app even while your phone is locked, I don't think I've come across any noticeable lag either opening the cam app
I do think some of the stuff is just you but one of the ones that definitely isn't "just you" is the shutter lag. This has been a Samsung issue for like 6+ years and they just simply haven't fixed it. Appreciate hearing perspective from an iPhone user, thanks.
All reviewers make the same videos: "I switch to iPhone", "I switch back to Samsung", "I was wrong", "Eco system this, Eco system that". "I love this about..." , three months later, " this is what i hate about..." . Please be more original. Samsung (and many other android phones) and iphone are great devices. Whatever you choose, you'll be fine. Don't be fooled by the lame BS of all those reviewers. It is their revenue model and they only make these kinds of videos for content, clout and subscribers.
Change notification pop up style from 'brief' to 'detailed' it give more info (as the name suggests) and you can reply directly from the notification, copy numbers etc
iPad, Apple Watch, iPhone pro max… I want an android like the good ol days just because BUT… that ecosystem. Files, iMessage… I don’t know how you do it.
You just need to fully convert to the Samsung ecosystem. Add Tab S9U to your workflow and DEX, and you'll quickly find out quickly that you don't need a laptop for most of it. iPad Pros are almost useless for Pro work.
You can go in to settings-Notifications-Notifications Style and change it to Detailed. It is more easy to copy the code you received and reply to messages when you receive a notification.
I really miss the multitasking, currently using an iPhone and it sucks that it has no multitasking like android. You need to move from one app to another just to do like calculating, taking down notes, etc. The sPen really helps when you have some documents that needs to be signed. I am at awe how good the s23 ultra is overall but I will not move back to Android anytime soon.
There is autofill for codes on Samsung? I got my s23 Ultra for a few weeks and have always had autofill on. Just automatically fills in codes on websites, banking apps, etc. Takes like a second or two but it's all automatic.
You've probably heard this 100x by now (2 mos later) but your #2 hate, the quick notif disappear, is a One UI thing across ALL Galaxys! You can change that in Settings > *Accessibility* > Advanced Features > *Time to take Action* (under "Notifications"). It's so ridiculously simple once you know it's an accessibility "feature" with a trash default value, but you change the time the notifs pop up from the default stupid half-second to 30 seconds or whatever. When you want the notif to go away, you just tap on the screen. Blessed day to ya!
Sorry for being late was watching the British GP F1 race gooooo Lando!!! Excellent video and as always your unbiased personal experience with the device is so “delightful” 😅 to hear. Have a lovely day or night Alex ✌🏼top notch video as usual… very “delightful” 😂😂😂 sorry I’ll stop now.
hey no worries at all!! Appreciate the race was way more interesting and yeah, I was rooting for Lando! So cool to see McLaren back on top and Williams too, doing so well recently. Afternoon delight!
You know the phone is a beast when he's reaching so hard to find things wrong with it. Good review, though. Facial recognition is unnecessary cause you have the fingerprint, one-time passcodes actually autofill and then immediately proceed, the speakers are fine if you use the sound assistant and Dolby Atmos to keep it in check, if you're on 15% then you can charge it up to double that amount in half as many minutes, and if you use developer options you can turn down your animation speed to mitigate the launch stutter.
Great video Alex. I share same of things you just described. Like yourself all my stuff is apple devices. Thus is a great phone and I love it. But not as refined as ios. I am stuck now.
I do not find many issues with Android apps being less polished, in fact many including the popular apps are indeed far more detailed and more comprehensive - anyway I digress, although some on both platforms have hiccups for sure. I am not am Apple fan but my reasons are far more complex but I think if a person is content with their preference and it works for you then that is all that matters 👍
Great review- I’m a long time iPhone user, but if iOS 17 doesn’t fix a few things, I’m jumping ship to Android. For instance, voice to text is absolutely unusable. I end of having to type everything in because my iPhone can’t understand anything!
I love my S22 ultra, and probably won't get rid of it. But I wish the camera would load quicker. I have no problem with the shots, just the milliseconds it takes to process a picture. Expert Raw mode and 20 times zoom makes up for it. One thing that I found was brilliant, the camera also works in multi-screen mode. It also works on my note 20 ultra and my note 10 plus.
I'm changing from S22 base to iPhone Pro Max because of the stutters android is giving the last days. Hate the delay it has when opening some apps, including camera. So annoying. But overall it's an awesome phone.
I've toyed with getting the s23 ultra but already own a Samsung fold 4, I also have the iPhone 14 pro max and my go to is the fold 4. All I can say is once you use a fold on the daily its almost impossible to go back to a standard slab of glass phone . That said keep up the good work Alex your videos are really informative and very well presented 👍👍
I also have the fold 4 and iphone 14 pro max (and pixel 7 pro). I just switched back to my fold a few days ago from my S23 ultra, those cameras and that battery life plus the Spen (was a die hard note user since note 2). The overall speed and fluidity of the S23 ultra is no joke..These things kept me off the fold from launch day of the S23 ultra. I hope at some point they make a fold with top tier cameras, battery and integrated Spen
@AlexGTech id like to see a wider outer screen on the Fold 5 but looks like thats not happening this year but they definitely need to address the cameras especially since the pixel fold is out now with better cameras especially 5x zoom
My next fold needs a wider outer screen and dust resistance 😅. Those are my only gripes with the fold 4 as I can cope with the cameras and speed, plus a days worth of battery in my use is ok👍
Installing truecaller improved the copy paste issue. Install wavelet paid version or in legacy mode to improve the sound. I think the iphone that is not ad flat that bix the sound better. As with the camera stutter I think is sometimes the something that tends to over use the ram,I get it more with my s21 exynos, very annoying indeed, but I do understand the stutter you talk about and it is definitely there
Thank you, will check those apps! Yes, the Exynos experience hasnt been great for me either. This feels so much better. The stutter happens but it's really not that often. Would be awesome if it didnt happen at all, but all things considered this has been great so far
Here are some issues I've had with the Galaxy s23 ultra: 1. Streaming hbo go content through an hdmi cable on a smart tv sometimes laggs. At times it is resolved by closing all apps and retrying, but sometimes it needs a full device restart. When I watch any tv series, this happens at least once for every 5 episodes. 2. The double tab on the back is constantly triggered. Even if I put the phone on a table (the first corner hits the flat surface and then the rest of the phone makes contact - activating the gesture). 3. Taking a screenshot is a nightmare. On my old Xiaomi device it was as simple as using three-finger swipe from the top of the screen. Here Samsung decided to go with the dump option to swipe your whole palm across the screen. This creates accidental touches, makes the screen dirty from the oils of the hand and is so difficult to activate. I used the double tap from the back of the phone for the screenshot but aside from the issues above, the whole screenshot action is quite slow. Like, test it - open a video and try to capture the moment . It takes like 3 seconds to make a screenshot. 4. The whole Good lock saga is out if this world - if you are not in the selected region - you cannot set your customizations (makes no sense) 5. Sometimes there's the occasional missing of notifications. I have experienced this with fb messenger the most and all the settings in the world cannot resolve it. 6. Finding settings is not ideal. The menu is so unintuitive that you sometimes end up searching on the web for something you have previously configured. I try to utilize the search bar at the top, but occasionally (5% of the time) even this cannot resolve the issue. 7. The main camera still takes worse photos of moving objects compared to the iphone (if you prioritize speed to quality the photos turn up a lot grainy and the processing seems tuned down) Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent phone and it has come a long way for the past few years. It always turns heads when I use it with my friends and the 200mp photos can produce amazing results. I wouldn't trade all the customization options and the productivity features (split screen, edge pannels, dex, video screensavers, and others) but if the little annoyances above are fixed it would make this phone the true king of smart phones.
Great content. If you want the best loudness for the s23 ultra, down load volume booster. It will make your speakers on steroids. As for the camera, go to a good lock and use a camera assistant. Question. We're did you get your wallpaper from? Thank you.
Thank you! Will give that a go. The greyscale wallpaper? it's from a fellow TH-camr called @ThisIsE, he has links to it on his recent videos. Tell him I sent ya 👊🏼
I came over from iphone, the speakers in my opinion are better on the s23 ultra, battery is good for me, only thing is the sending pics via sms, its always very blurry if i send it to an iphone user... i fixed it by having a MasOs server so inhave imessage on my ultra, but if i didnt have that like mostl people wouldnt, it could be a problem.... Also getting a good screen protector that is good with the finger print scanner was not easy
Alex, you just nailed it! Samsung is just being Samsung at this point. 🤷♂🙂 Still, it's the best Samsung slab phone we had in may years, especially in Exynos-based areas.
thanks mate! Yeah, gotta say, I struggled to find 5 things I hate 🤣 These are more like annoyances. Like you said, this is the best in a long time, it's gonna be hard to beat it this year
Your issues are personal or usage. Face ID is not a secure method of login. Useless for many but Apple users. The passcode just drop it the window in split screen and type it in. That's what I do. The speakers haven't noticed sounds good ans love the split audio, which allows you to program sound quality for individual apps. Battery usage: The acreen tells you how much time you have left specifically. I've gone out all day on 26% left, no dying. Never had the battery die on me. That's on you, not the phone. Learn how to use it.
I like the way you reviewed & man your smiling face ❤ about the battery % just try to clear the catche & you are done ✔️i usectill the last 1% without any issues Keep your reviews comimg great job dude .Greetings from India 🇮🇳 ♥️
So basically, the things you hate are really not that important. The phone is the best phone I've ever used. And nothing is perfect. Thanks for great content.
6:15 when you were mentioning the copying the code, a lot of times it does it for you automatically if you're in the app. The camera issue can also be fixed by downloading good lock
I will say, I still prefer the S23U speakers to the iPhone. They sound better balanced and fuller in a more natural way that doesn't sound like it has a heavy tube saturation effect on it. I also have my phone in "Movie" mode, with the EQ set to this.. (Which I find calms the high end a little, there's still plenty of detail and mids.) 200Hz -1 500Hz -2 1KHz -3 2KHz -3 4KHz -3 8KHz -3 16KHz -3
😂 I've had that same exact battery experience! 10%, I'm good right? Nope....dead a few min later. But that's after not charging it for almost 2 full days.
My friend, I completely agree with you, I've been using the s series for more than 10 years and I'm stuck with 14pro max, I can't make friends with ios, but everything you said is true, I'm using s23 ultra my wife 14 pro max, everything is right, just keep going👌👍🇦🇹
the cascading one on the Fold? That is a theme from Samsung Themes called Black Elite. The icon pack is called Gladient, through Nova launcher. I do use Good Lock for my lock screen when it shows the clock, but in words.
@@AlexGTech, the one on your S23U in this video :) The icons are really nice as the way they cascade down your screen. Wondered if your home screen set up is from Good Lock?
Very honest review brother n u dealt with minor but day to day real life issues. Good.. I wish you try to show there wifi reception 4g n 5g capabilities in weak area n using 4g or 5g internet while roaming on call.. These are very imp areas but sadly noone addres
6:34 It works like this too on S23U... I'm really surprised you have this problem. For a lot of apps it autofills it, for others, it appears on keyboard, really rare for me that I have to click on the copy function of the msg, but even I have to, I never fail....
the code paste automatically if you keep the app open and tap the space where the code goes! the face unlock isnt the phones bread and butter like fingerprint scanner! great review but its still best smartphone made at this point
I'm with on the facial recognition. It doesn't always works when you need it to, and then when I'm not trying to use it, it unlocks the phone when I use the pin code.
Great video Dude well put together and I liked the way you presented it. Don't know why I haven't come across your channel before but liked and subbed now. Keep up the great work! 👍🏽
For the battery when its getting towards the end, you have some config setup you can make to adjust power consumption for this type of situation. Thank you for your great videos!
Try single shot mode. If you want a faster camera boot up, modify your side key to double press and launch camera. It's my go to setting when using the camera app
The Samsung S23U is the phone that an iPhone user like myself would leave iPhone for a cycle only to return because Apple finally came out with something “better”
haha yes, It's certainly a worthy opponent. I couldnt say the same thing about the S22 Ultra, but this one is definitly friendly and powerful enough for anybody. Should be interesting to see how the iPhone 15 will stack up!
From the rumors, 13 pro max still the phone to keep and not upgrade. 15 does not sound so exciting. Unless that usbc is a thunderbolt 4 and when connected we get iPads stage manager capabilities.
I have bought and been using the phone for 5 days, this phone is outstanding, but the speakers aren't loud as my last s10 plus and gets hot as hell when emulating games
I love this video it is really helping me make a decision on which phone to upgrade to, one thing though, you can change the notification size to be bigger or smaller so you can click on links and things easier. also for the battery, the phone i have now, the A53 5G lasted 3 hours on 1%.
Bro I love you videos I really do, and I look forward to your videos, but recently it appears to me that you have no other topic to talk about but the s23 ultra and it's boring. I hope there will be verity of videos of different topics in the future. Much love ❤
Thank you so much! I did try to make videos that are not related to the S23 Ultra but no one cared 😭 I definitely have a lot more content coming up that are not S23 Ultra related though, so I hope to see you there! Ohh ok i get it now, that's what the public wants.. And btw now that i read my comment back.. i think it sounds more harsh than i intended it to be ❤❤ I sure will be checking the links that you provided and thanks for that. While we are at it; I just want to let you know that you were the reason i got the Tab S8 Ultra (the quality of the video impressed me and i subbed right away). I really like your CALM way of doing your videos, watching them feels like am talking to my friend.. i hope you don't change your way of doing your videos and i hope you blow up big time. Much Love ❤❤
Actually, I have an iPhone 12 Pro and S23 Ultra, and I can confirm that the speakers in the older iPhone are better than those in the Samsung. That doesn't mean the speakers in the S23 are bad; no, they're quite good, but they're just clearer on the iPhone. You can feel that when you hold both phones side by side and listen carefully.
6:00 I think that's your fault. Fo me, autofill is the best part. It fills it automatically and I don't need to copy it. Maybe there's a settin or smt that you turned off?
I think you made a small error with the whole thing about codes coming through. Which is you are trying to copy and paste it, you dont need to do that, when on the app and the code comes through, as you click to enter it the code will appear automatically in the "paste" section of the keyboard. Just thought I would explain that one for you 😀
Spot on with the speakers and battery life, I'd add the voice assistant is also not as great as Siri , some miniscule things such as saving as stickers which has been perfected is lagging here. Nevertheless still GOAT
I got the s23 ultra I don't really use the face recognition at all it's just fingerprint and pin other than that I love s23 ultra it handles everything what I throw at it hardly any lag on my previous phone had I had it past 5 months oh my goodness the battery life is amazing too
With the latest updates and running Nova 8 instead of UI I can’t say I really have any issues that affects me. For your issues, FR has worked well for me. For C/P I tend to use the pen. It seems to really help. For speakers, I almost always use a set of Nothing Ear 2 buds or a bt speaker. My use case is different. For battery I tend to charge if under 30%. But I do that with any phone. Living in an Android / iOS world, the biggest pita is the lack of back swipe in iOS. WTF Apple!!
Great video! The annoyances that you have highlighted with the S23u are all the main reasons I returned to using my iPhone. You lasted longer than me 😂👍🏼
Nice vid. I don't have the issue with auto-fill one time passwords; did the latest OneUI fix that? I've switched from the iPhone 14 ProMax and would say the 3 most noticeable differences are 1) Weight (the 14 PM weighs a ton) then 2) Screen (Brightness) and 3) Insane Battery Life of the S23. Also the OneUI (and GoodLock) customisation options are brilliant compared to iOS. I've no regrets - iPhone users shouldn't try the S23 Ultra...what you never had and all that!!
@@dhruvshembekar8979 100% yes. "What you never had you never missed!" I switched and wouldn't go back to iPhone tbh. If you have an Apple Watch remember you'll need to also sell/trade-in for a Samsung/Google/Garmin type watch
I use iris recognition on my note 8 and it works most of times about 8 out of 10 works fine, so try to use iris recognition instead of face recognition
Try Microsoft SMS organiser, you'll love it. All the details, to the minutest, are thoughtfully integrated. Like copying codes by default and display on the keyboard (you don't even have to open the SMS), arranging all your financial summary, auto delete otps, and much more. Hope One I includes these features soon.
the main thing that shocked me was the face recognition. I have a low end samsung but its facial recognition is FAST, I could be pulling my phone at the most awkward angle and it automatically detects my face. as for the battery issue, its not really an issue, you cant expect to not charge and expect it to last a full day
Great video! I got my first Samsung a few weeks ago, after being a hard-core iPhone user for 13+ years. I won't be going back! It's good having the finger scanner again but I do have to admit that mine doesn't work a lot of the time and I'm wondering if I'm doing anything wrong?!
My recommendation woudl be to delete the fingerprint and register it again. I've seen some people registering multiple fingers, but also registering the same finger twice! Not sure if that helps, but prob worth a try. Are you using a screen protector?
You’re so right about his demeanor. Always pleasant and I enjoy listening. The videos end too soon.
I’m thinking of making the switch. What’s the best way to transfer all my saved passwords.

All the messages become bigger 👍 and easy to copy and if u want to just make text msgs bigger to copy codes while rest small....u can do that too
Thank you! Will definitely give this a go, great tip!
And it will work similarly like iOS if you are using Samsung keyboard.
Yes! Exactly what I came to type and you beat me to it. I've never had issues with this.
Codes automatically get copied when I receive one and show up on the keyboard toolbar so you can paste it or type immediately.
Also you can extend the time that pop up messages stay up (time to take action) which helps when typing the password when no paste option is available
One thing that dramatically speeds up switching the camera on and switching between all apps actually, is to turn developer options on and go to window/transition/animator animation scale settings and turn them all to 0.5 or in my case I just turn them off completely. Makes switching apps so much faster.
I recently did that, "set them to off," and it stopped the edge lighting from moving.
I am glad I am not alone in thinking that! Strong contender for phone of the year, for sure!
Can you get me one please 😭
How do you get 2 days bro that's impossible unless you have maybe 4 hours of on screen time and 44 of screen off..wym 2 days
@@mcsavage1587ppl always exaggerate 😂

Those settings were there before the update
After reading your comment, I tried using the auto mode indoors to take pet pictures (for a while, I was using pro mode with higher shutter speed), and the photos were very sharp, indeed. Not blurry at all! Thanks for the info. The June or July update must have done something to make the camera faster.

What i like about Samsung Galaxy S series phones in General and S23 Ultra in particular with its SD8Gen+2 chip is that i can literally use it as my mini pc, my mini xbox and a camera.
I picked the S23U over the Fold 5 for the battery life, price, and camera.
Surprised about your issue with the face recognition 😮 every Samsung I've had, it works so accurately it annoyed me. I couldn't just look at my lockscreen without it unlocking, I even turned on "stay on lockscreen until swipe" because of it's accuracy 😅
The phone likes your face & wants to communicate ;)
@@DimitarBerberuhe's safe from the ai apocalypse
My s23 ultra is very sticky in Face recognition too...
Alex, thank you. Great video. Some remarks:
- Facial recognition is a joke and should be removed altogether, specially because it is unsecure.
Iris scanner couldn’t be used with glasses. Was annoying with my Note 9
@@ottallman I had The Note 8 back then and glasses as today. It just worked fine for me, every single time.
Notification style type -> Detailed.
thank you! great tip, will defniitely give it a go!
cheers!
As soon as I see it hit the 40s, I'm immediately looking for my charger or battery pack to make sure it's available.
you should let your phone die at least once a month or else the battery gets damaged
@irishlad1367 Oh how so?

My sister has the 14 Pro Max and I the S23 Ultra and I agree that the 14PM does have better sounding speakers. Other than that, S23U straight up murders the 14PM. 😂
I am glad it's not just me who thinks that! Yeah, the speakers on the 14PM really are impressive.
wont be murdering anything in 5 years 😂. gonna be slowing down significantly by then
That's iphone when the new one comes out@dread8900
RE: S Pen... definitely said something along those lines 😂
RE the copy and paste if codes etc. If you use Samsung Keyboard it automatically copies it into the clipboard and should have it sitting at top of the keyboard like on iOS. But I agree with the toast notification (that's officially what Samsung call it) it's absolutely not big enough
This was awesome.

You just need to explore the settings and fine tune it to your liking.
I love that!! Thanks for the tip!
Minor stuff you mentioned. Won't go back to iPhone, until iPhone matches what my S23 is doing right now. The multitasking alone and the S Pen will keep me in the Galaxy camp for years to come unless IOS does something earth-shattering.
100% true..
I hope Tim wouldn’t get mad enough to Cook my device !
yes indeed you're correct.
"I love this about..." , three months later, "
this is what i hate about..." . Please be more original.
Samsung (and many other android phones) and iphone are great devices. Whatever you choose, you'll be fine. Don't be fooled by the lame BS of all those reviewers. It is their revenue model and they only make these kinds of videos for content, clout and subscribers.
Change notification pop up style from 'brief' to 'detailed' it give more info (as the name suggests) and you can reply directly from the notification, copy numbers etc
thank you!! That's a great tip, will give that a go!
iPad, Apple Watch, iPhone pro max… I want an android like the good ol days just because BUT… that ecosystem.
Files, iMessage… I don’t know how you do it.
I think files, photos and messages get automaticly transfered over
You just need to fully convert to the Samsung ecosystem.
Thanks for the tip! Will definitely give that a go!
Why won’t you move back? I am curious about android
What kinda multitasking can u really accomplish on a phone though ?
@@CashCollecta I mean anytime you use more than one app at the same time you can do that with android but not ios
There is autofill for codes on Samsung? I got my s23 Ultra for a few weeks and have always had autofill on. Just automatically fills in codes on websites, banking apps, etc. Takes like a second or two but it's all automatic.
Recent subscriber. Thanks for sharing. My biggest gripe with the s23 Ultra is that you lose auto tracking ability if you shoot in 10 bit
The shutter lag definitely sucks. They really need a sports mode or something that focuses on getting a clear motion shot

hey no worries at all!!
You brought up some issues that no youtuber that I've seen talked about. Such a detailed and informative video. Hope you get more reach.
Great video Alex. I share same of things you just described. Like yourself all my stuff is apple devices. Thus is a great phone and I love it. But not as refined as ios. I am stuck now.
haha yes, I know that feeling! Great to have some competition out there, in the end we always win with great choices to pick from. Have a great day 🙏🏼
I do not find many issues with Android apps being less polished, in fact many including the popular apps are indeed far more detailed and more comprehensive - anyway I digress, although some on both platforms have hiccups for sure.
Thank you! Will yo ube tempted by the Fold 5?
You and me, both! If the Fold 5 cameras are anywhere near as good as the S23U, I can see myself sticking with the Fold 5 until the S24U comes out
@AlexGTech id like to see a wider outer screen on the Fold 5 but looks like thats not happening this year but they definitely need to address the cameras especially since the pixel fold is out now with better cameras especially 5x zoom
Here are some issues I've had with the Galaxy s23 ultra:
4. The whole Good lock saga is out if this world - if you are not in the selected region - you cannot set your customizations (makes no sense)
7. The main camera still takes worse photos of moving objects compared to the iphone (if you prioritize speed to quality the photos turn up a lot grainy and the processing seems tuned down)
Don't get me wrong, it is an excellent phone and it has come a long way for the past few years.
Volume down + Power button = Screenshot
Great content. If you want the best loudness for the s23 ultra, down load volume booster. It will make your speakers on steroids. As for the camera, go to a good lock and use a camera assistant. Question. We're did you get your wallpaper from? Thank you.

Still, it's the best Samsung slab phone we had in may years, especially in Exynos-based areas.
thanks mate!

I will say, I still prefer the S23U speakers to the iPhone. They sound better balanced and fuller in a more natural way that doesn't sound like it has a heavy tube saturation effect on it.
Hey Alex great content, Where did you get that wallpaper on that fold?
Thank you, look up Black Elite on Samsung Themes, they have other colours too 👊🏼
The Samsung S23U is the phone that an iPhone user like myself would leave iPhone for a cycle only to return because Apple finally came out with something “better”
haha yes, It's certainly a worthy opponent.
The apple flag (4:37) in a Samsung video 😂😂😂😂😂 I don't know if it was on purpose, but you crack me up, man!!!
love your vids man, thanks to you I decided to buy this beast, i'm really happy.
btw, where did you get your wallpaper?
A lot of the problems you're mentioning I don't get on my S21U 😮
Great video, Alex💯 was thinking about you this morning 👍🙏
Thanks, my friend! Hope you're doing well and enjoying the weekend 😊
Love this account name, by the way! 😆 regards to Janine
S23ULTRA In another level tbh 🔥🔥🔥 surprised
I have bought and been using the phone for 5 days, this phone is outstanding, but the speakers aren't loud as my last s10 plus and gets hot as hell when emulating games
Yeah not even my note 20 I'm disappointed by that so much
I love this video it is really helping me make a decision on which phone to upgrade to, one thing though, you can change the notification size to be bigger or smaller so you can click on links and things easier. also for the battery, the phone i have now, the A53 5G lasted 3 hours on 1%.
Bro I love you videos I really do, and I look forward to your videos, but recently it appears to me that you have no other topic to talk about but the s23 ultra and it's boring. I hope there will be verity of videos of different topics in the future.
Much love ❤
Thank you so much! I did try to make videos that are not related to the S23 Ultra but no one cared 😭
I definitely have a lot more content coming up that are not S23 Ultra related though, so I hope to see you there! In the meantime, in case you missed here are some videos I crafted with love but the algo probably didn't show you:
- th-cam.com/video/aBwEnwy6YoI/w-d-xo.html
- th-cam.com/video/a36NfNmuqeM/w-d-xo.html
Ohh ok i get it now, that's what the public wants.. And btw now that i read my comment back.. i think it sounds more harsh than i intended it to be ❤❤
I sure will be checking the links that you provided and thanks for that.
No matter the phone I'm using the moment battery hits 15% it's panic time for charging..... My phone can never be caught out of juice
haha very true, to be fair it doesnt happen that often. Caught me out a couple of times though
Bro my sub is just for youre friendly way of explaning and thats i find very convencing, well done!
You lasted longer than me 😂👍🏼
haha overall really happy, but yes some of these things do annoy me!
it's all right, not all of us can have good taste
But what about all those annoying/missing things on iPhone? Why you don't come back😉?
I've no regrets - iPhone users shouldn't try the S23 Ultra...what you never had and all that!!
hey i have an iphone 14 pro max and im considering the switch do u think i should do it?
I have a low end samsung but its facial recognition is FAST, I could be pulling my phone at the most awkward angle and it automatically detects my face. as for the battery issue, its not really an issue, you cant expect to not charge and expect it to last a full day
Its face recognition is so fast because it’s not very secure.
What is the launcher and icon pack that you are using? And wallpaper
Launcher is Nova, but some bits like the clock face is via Good Lock. The Theme I use is Elite Black from Samsung Themes 🙏🏼
Great video! I got my first Samsung a few weeks ago, after being a hard-core iPhone user for 13+ years. I won't be going back! It's good having the finger scanner again but I do have to admit that mine doesn't work a lot of the time and I'm wondering if I'm doing anything wrong?!
Do you have a screen protector?
Some screen protectors can affect the fingerprint sensor. My last screen protector was driving me nuts so I changed it & no issues so far 🤞
My recommendation woudl be to delete the fingerprint and register it again. I've seen some people registering multiple fingers, but also registering the same finger twice! Not sure if that helps, but prob worth a try. Are you using a screen protector?
my thoughts too...
Yeah I had that problem too. Ended up not bothering with screen protectors
