  • Here's an update video for my Porter Cable air compressor. Posted the first Porter Cable video in 2013. It's a good compressor and I've only had minor issues with it over the years.
    3/16/22 update: I've had it over 9 years. Still working/no issues.
    10/10/21 update: Put it to work this past week to put up moulding. Worked great!
    9/27/21 update: Still loving it. Used it on 1/4" plywood.
    4/18/21 update: I love this Porter Cable. I just used it in the building of a pass-through/breakfast bar. Here's the video: • Opening Wall To Make A...

    Thanks, I didn't know about the gauges and what the adjustment wheel controlled. Mine isn't turning off and I now realize it is likely the drain valve and quick connects are leaking air. I will make a video and reference yours in my comments. Thanks!

    I've had this same compressor for about 11 years now. Very useful for home use. Tires, nailer, blower. It's great. The only problem I find is the noise. I wish it was quieter like some of these newer more expensive quiet models. But at $79 with a 3 nail gun kit, I think I came out like a bandit.

    How come when I build up the pressure in my tank to 150 psi, I go to regulate the pressure to my tool connected to one of the cuplinks, it spews so much air out of the cup link that’s not connected to anything, that I can’t use my tool, and it empties the tank essentially?

      I’m trying to put up drywall. Do you know a good air compressor screw or nail tool to use? Or one that can attach to Porter Cable?

    • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're putting up drywall it's best to use drywall screws. You can get a drywall screw gun at Home Depot or Lowes for around $100. Home Depot rents tools so if you're doing a 1 time project you might want to ask if they have drywall screw guns for rent.

    • @Jadeoffire

      Oh ok. I think I didn’t need to purchase the compressor then 🤦🏽‍♀️. Ok thank you 😊

    • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No biggie. I've bought tools and have taken them back. The compressor is good to have around though. I just used mine for tires that were going flat on my car. You might have seen people put up drywall with nails, but nails tend to pop. Some years back I had a house built and the contractor used nails on the drywall and after a while I had the nails popping through. Glued and screwed is best. Put glue on the stud and then use drywall screws to screw the drywall to the studs. Good luck.

    When putting air in the tires: Let's say the tire calls for 32 lbs. Do you set the gauge on the right for 32 lbs, and it registers what is already in there and just fills the remainder (say they had 25 lbs in them, would it put in 7 and then 'quit') or is it hit and miss or?
    If the tire was dead empty and you set the gauge for 32 lbs., would that accurately fill the tires?
    Thanks!

You should have just went on ahead and provided a link for the air valve that you replaced, I may just buy a new one to preempt any future issues happening with air leaks .

    Awesome! I just bought this kit with 3 nailers. My anxiety is not more after watching this. QUESTION => How do you know what pressure level to use for each tool?? For example, you set the pressure to 40 for the blower but you did not say what setting you used to fill the tire. You then used another pressure setting for the nailer. Where are you getting these numbers!?? :-)

    • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tools should have psi recommendations in the manual. I usually set my compressor between 80 psi and 100 psi when using my brad nailers. If I'm doing my tires on one of my vehicles, I'll set it at about 50 psi and I put a little air in at a time and keep checking the tires with a tire pressure gauge to make sure I don't overinflate them.

    What hose do I get for it?The one that was recommended from Home Depot’s online app has threads on it. Do I need more parts for it or a different kind of hose?

    • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you get the hose that just has threaded ends you'll have to get a coupler and male plug to attach to it. Might be easier and maybe cheaper if you get one of the kits where you get the compressor, air hose, and tools. • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @stevekonbass
      @stevekonbass  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can't say because it's not really in terms of minutes. It's more a case of what you're using it for and how much air you're taking from the tank. So... let's say you turn on the Porter Cable in your garage and it fills the tank with air until the cut-off point. Then you unplug it and carry it 3 minutes to the furthest point of your property. At that point (provided no air is leaking out) the tank is still full of air. So now let's say you're using a nail gun to mend a fence. You start popping nails in the fence and it'll work just fine until the tank runs out of air. Then you'd have to go back to your garage and plug it in. Hope that little scenario I gave helps.
