      This is a Dyson commercial, not a comparison, and one of the reasons they cost so much--marketing. First of all, Dyson is number one according to this bull shitter, because it has the most powerful motor. But the reality is that any of the vacuums could EASILY use a motor that is just a little bit more powerful than Dyson's, but that would be dumb, because they would be doing it just to say it has the most powerful motor, not because that motor was the best for the vacuum's weight,, needed power, cost, etc. Obviously, Dyson which is all about convincing people that it is the best, wanted to have the most powerful motor regardless if it was the best for the vacuum.

    Only the Shark and Samsung had that proper “carpet beating” sound! Suction alone isn’t the answer, vibration plays a very important role in agitating debris to the surface.

    I find the animal hair test a bit lacking. I would like to know how good these vacuums are when the whole carpet is covered in hair. When you have dogs that shed like crazy, a lot of hair gets finely embeded into our carpets. Other than that I think the height of the cacuum attachment is also really important to know. For when you have not much room under furniture.

      @ModernCastle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've tested a ton of budget-friendly cordless sticks...they are indeed budget friendly, but they are also just bad.
      Something like the Dyson V7 is a reasonable balance of performance vs. price, but even it's still $300-$350 usually.
      If you need to keep the budget lower than that your best option is probably a corded upright instead.

  • @Achala148
    @Achala148 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thank you for this very helpful review. I have been going in circles trying to find one that ticks the most important features... what I really need to know from your reviews is how effective is the low setting long runtime mode? Its not much help if it has to be next up from eco mode most of the time as that run time is so much shorter... so talking real time battery life. Some models on eco mode are pretry useless so that long runtime claim is a bit irrelevant. I am not talking a little boost to pick up something stubborn, I mean what mode for general use is effective on carpet? Regarding testing, does the battery reduce in time when actually sucking (under load) like on carpet as opposed to just running without any restriction? Does it have multi-floor head or does one have to keep swapping? Are tools on board? Including these things would be really helpful.
    Pointing out the lock switch is great, as want to buy for my 85yo mum and she has arthritis. Will check your website too... so far the stratos is favouring but I was worried about the noise, but on this demo it wasn't too bad - was that on lowest setting first? How effective is it on lowest setting? Thanks.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish we had that data, but unfortunately we are do all of our cleaning tests on max power mode.
      Speaking more subjectively, I would say than any of the vacuums on this list I would want to be in auto / normal power mode. Eco mode is really only a good option for lighter cleaners or cleaning hard surface flooring. When it comes to carpet, you need / want the extra power of at least normal / auto mode, and ideally max mode.
      Unfortunately, we don't have specific data on battery / run time performance under heavy cleaning load.
      All of these vacuums use a multi floor head, with some also having a secondary head you can swap to it for hard surface cleaning.
      Tools are not on board with any of these. They are stored separate or on the clean station.
      Our noise tests includes all power modes for all of these vacuums.
      Stratos low power performance is similar to others. It's good, but not amazing. Most of the time I'd use normal / auto mode.

      Most of the weight is in the handheld portion of the unit. As to why it's there, I would guess it's due to ergonomics and balancing. They are trying to balance the weight between the weight closer to the floor and the weight up nearer to the hand.

    I’m scared to buy another dyson. I got my v7 in 2019 and after a year it died so they replaced it with the v7 animal. After a year it also quit so they replaced the battery and motor. Another 4 months that motor goes out. It’s possible I just got 2 bad vacuums because the batteries are both fine but I don’t want them have so many issues again.

    • @ModernCastle

      That sounds like some extraordinarily bad luck. I've owned 10+ Dyson vacuums and aside from the battery dying on one (because I dropped it) every single one is still working perfectly fine.

    you should really put more effort into the pet hair test, if you know any cats or dogs they like to stay in their favorite spot sometimes for days without it really being cleaned...so by the point you get to actually clean the pet hair is stuck so well to the carpet that it looks like a part of it. so please do improve on really really rubbing and pressing that hair on there..

    • @Little_Bitz
      @Little_Bitz ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I can say from my experience that the Dyson v15 detect comes with a hair removal screw tool that uses additional power from the battery to remove hair. Before I got my dog I never really noticed whether it did better than the regular attachments while removing our human hair from the floors. But I recently have been using it with my new dog is furry, not hairy like regular short hair dogs and it did a good job removing the fur from his bed linens. It's pretty powerful so I needed someone to hold down the sides as I rolled it back and forth removing the hair. With that said, don't expect it to work like these silly commercials where you just walk passed a spot and voila it's clean. No, it needs a little time spent going back and forth to thoroughly remove pet hair. And if the Dyson v15 works like that, id imagine any other battery run stick vacuum will require even more effort. Since the v15 detect is currently the strongest suction on the market as of this video.
      However, I currently have my eye on the new "Bespoke Jet™ AI vacuum with All-in-One Clean Station" (whoa I copied and pasted it and look how huge the words are 😂). But anyway it also comes with the spray spinning sweeper for free so you can also mop up small messes with it. The suction is higher than the v15 at 280aw vs 220aw and it has an 100 minute running time vs 68 minutes running time on the V15. It's supposed to last longer than the outside as well. BUT I'll wait until it is released and see some real reviews before I switch. After all, I just bought my Dyson in Nov and they already released an updated version to also compare to the Samsung.

    • @Little_Bitz
      @Little_Bitz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ooh, btw. I forgot to mention, my biggest pet peeve with the Dyson v15 detect is that you have to hold the on trigger in order to use it. There is no on/off switch so it does cause some hand fatigue. For that reason, I most often use it for heavy dirt areas or smaller jobs. And I use my Roomba to do the whole house for everything else. Still in all, I'm considering exchanging the Dyson for either the newer one that DOES have an on and off switch or the Samsung when it comes out bc it not only has all those features I want but it also has more. Like the additional mopping options and the self emptying. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hunching over for 20 minutes - even 10 - is not a pleasant exercise. I also will only buy a unit with 'headlights'... your tests are always in clear light open floors but I have corners and shadows in my living spaces - I want to see under tables, shelves, chairs, etc.

    • @ModernCastle

      No, you will not need to keep any of these vacuums on the charger. Same can be said of any cordless vacuum battery of any reasonable quality level.
      While I didn't test that explicitly, I've used enough of these vacuums in our long term tests to know that they can often go months without use or charge, holding onto their charge and still be ready to go when you need them.

      Anyways we decided to get Philips Aqua Trio 9383/01 .
      Samsung Bespoke Jet was it's competition(original choice infact),but my mum says that seeing it in person is quite cheap looking,even ugly while on videos and pictures look like piece of art( as if Bang & Olufsen designed it looks on videos and pictures in my opinion).
      The white unit .
      Obviously cleaning over looks.
      However this Philips came along and since I love Philips products we took a look at couple of videos and it's self cleaning function won us over...even if it's quite heavy (4kg vs 1.4 of Bespoke).
      Perhaps you could test it.
      IF unavailable on your market, perhaps 9385(or is it 9585🤔)model is.
      Identical in specifications,but with 2 batteries and even more accessories than 9383/01 according to Croatia's Philips customer service .
      Unavailable in Croatia,but I was curious so they answered regardless 👍
      On Croatian market , Philips Aqua Trio 9383/01 costs more or less identical to Samsung Bespoke Jet(1 battery version).
      Approximately 830 - 890 or so.
      We paid it 830 I think.
