I'm actually kinda glad that G Rank isn't launching with the game right away. I don't want the game to feel like a "race to G rank" and just everyone blow through the game to get to the end. I want to grind out and fully play everything the game has to offer first without feeling like I'm "falling behind" so I think it's a pretty good call to save the G Rank content for later.
So long as G-Rank is going to be an undate or downloadable expansion, I don't have an issue. I don't want to have another MHGen/MHXX situation on my hands again.
TheMacel66 Mostly fan petitioning and the fact that the team initially stated there wasn't going to be a G-Rank expansion for Generations; mainly because their reasoning was that it is a Spin-off title. Hypocrisy was involved afterwards...
it could be only on ps4 because sony still owns it but id love to see a demons souls remastered so much! especially after i got a ps4 now just for MHW. playing bloodborne until release and i really love it. i should have played it much earlier tbh
Rey I wish people would stop counting down the days. XD I'm not counting but everywhere I go someone keeps mentioning the number of days, lol. If you don't think about it, it comes faster.
But have you SEEN the trailer? Deviljho holds other monsters in it's mouth while fighting! Can you imagine fighting a Deviljho HOLDING another Deviljho HOLDING ANOTHER Deviljho?!
Gartani I've seen it for the last couple months lol, it does look badass though. The Dual Blades are his claws and they are actual claws not daggers so that's even more badass. Also it looks like Charge Blade gets a shield with his Face on it looks badass.
Speedz The Anjanath set is undoubtably one of the best from a wide range of other unique armours. I get a knightly vibe off it. Definitely picking that one up!

Oh man, new game mechanics? For instance.... Underwater combat? (Gets boo'd and hit with rotten tomatoes) Wait wait i know, the community is really divided on this topic, but the only problem i think people had (which i didnt think were a problem for me) was the camera, but we have a lock-on feature now! Imagine fighting lagiacrus and ceadeus in frckin 4K!! The beautiful underwater landscapes they can now make! I know it's not really likely to happen, with the coral highlands and such, but maybe it can be an expansion of the highlands/area next to it, where the coral crept up the rock on land to form the highlands, or that the ground here was shifted so it's permanently above sea level or something... A man can dream...
Thomas my problem with underwater combat was the slooooow dodging and having to watch your oxygen meter, and if you ran outta oxygen you could only get 1-2 hits before needing to surface for air. It also felt really clunky
Thomas The problem I had with underwater combat (on top of the clunky controlls, oxygen and slow dodge) was that the only 2 monsters that were fun to fight were Lagiacrus and Gobul. Rest was pretty boring. And I really don't get what some people like about Ceadeus. The single player "battle" against him is just tedious and the multiplayer version isn't fun either. Hitting him for ages until you get one hit by the water beam. The only good thing about him is the Helios equipment. If Capcom has to put "bullet-sponge" monsters in the game, they should at least try to make the fight a bit more fun and unique like Jhen Mohran imo.
Just wait for the next monster hunter to have underwater fight with this graphics x) I think they keep some content for the next one in order to have some new stuffs to put in next games eventhough it might be in several years in the future
I also prefer Monoblos's design over Diablos. The spiny frill, that nose spear... +YoureThatGlitch, actually only Black Diablos are established to be all-female.
As a new player, I am actually very excited to hear about this. No doubt the base game will have plenty to do, but hearing that they are already planning on expanding it (for free no less) in the future is a good sign. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
The base game looks like it has less content than past titles tbh but it looks like they're in it for the long haul. Jury is out on how much of the expansions are free. DLC may be but a complete G rank addition may end up costing.
I can see how you are excited as a new player because you havent experienced G Rank before. MH has always worked like this, with G Rank being released later within a second game. GRank is essentially just the best version of experiencing the game, with LR and HR mainly being there to ease new players into. For example, of the 700 hours i put into MH4U, nearly 600 of those were exclusively in GRank because of the amount of content GRank holds. To me the game sounds like it is going down the Frontier path, which imo is the best way they can do it, I just wish that G Rank was availiable from the start as HR has proved to not be all that challenging.
base game content already has a ton of shit to do. mhtri was perhaps one of the lightest mh games ever released as far as content goes and it still had over 400 hours of shit to do
Two things. one: THEY BETTER BRING BACK NARGACUGA! i LOVED to fight the bastard and was so perfect on the timing i were able to down the G-rank version with only a few megapotions! and his design was just awesome second: I dont mind G-rank as a paid expansion. as long as it´s nothing over 25 bucks. and endgame? Hell give us the guild quests from 4U back and get the deviant motherfuckers from XX on top! now THAT would be endgame content of epic proportions! I know i know it most likely wont happen. but a nutcase of a hunter like me can dream right? :D
Psychoangel Yes, the Nargacuga was amazing, I probably never lost a mission against it in FU because it wasn't particularly hard, but it was very fun to fight
They have always made players pay for G rank though. Usually a game is released without G rank then released later with it so you have to buy the game twice. The only reason you don't see it is that they usually only release the G rank free version in Japan and wait till it's complete to make a western release.
King of flames He means Akantor vs Ukanlos. Akantor is known as the Black God in MH lore, while Ukanlos is known as the White God. MUCH more badass than 2 Fatalis fighting eachother. xD (Though there is no reason for Fatalis to fight eachother anyway.) But sadly, idk if an Akantor vs Ukanlos fight would even be possible to happen, since they both live in Polar-opposite regions, one in volcanic regions and one in the Tundra. lol
If their goal's to appeal to a Western Market they better not do two versions like the do with most of their previous titles. Nobody wants to buy a game twice I have no idea how that trend stuck around until now with them.
Meat Japan has started using season passes and the such, check street fighter arcade version which back then would be a new game but now it is an expansion. Id say thats how g rank will be. A 15-30$ dlc most likely.
What NekoFrost said. Things are changing there, interactive entertainment marketing-wise. But for a more specific answer to your question of: "I have no idea how that trend stuck around until now with them." Japan had, and still has, a culture of non-confrontationalism. They don't want to cause a ruckus or stand out for fear of instability. This translates to capcom not getting a hint to have G rank automatically on the base game, because there was barely any hint given to them. Notice how the early titles were base games with slightly more actually new content added on, but the ones that are more acclaimed/known in the west (like 3U and 4U) have G-rank right off the bat? They knew that the western market has a much lower tolerance to these kinds of practices. Now even less so. Hopefully capcom still has this in mind.
Jeffrey Willcoxon If you consider Brute Tigrex's gimmick revolves around the power of its roar I think it would be thematically interesting to have it sound so loud it 'makes your ears bleed' (for those unfamiliar, bleeding was a status effect in 4U associated with Seregios, wherein your character would receive damage if they made any action while effected).
MegaKing10001 not really, I'm completely fine with G-rank coming at a later date, letting you enjoy at your own pace the new monsters and story they offer in the base game. after that, release a paid DLC ( and yes, I would be completely fine with paying for G-rank if it offers a substantial update to World) that expands upon the base game in terms of maps, monsters and hey, maybe even an addition to the story or a standalone one at that
MegaKing10001 Also none of the base games to my knowledge have ever had G-Rank. G-Rank is tied to the Ultimate version. So the precedent is already established.
Cory Evans it’s the idea that with such a big game meant to appeal to western audiences they should make such an integral part of MH as something we don’t need to pay for. It’s like paying extra for hard mode on a game. Low rank is to kinda get you started while hi rank is normal mode, g rank is the endgame stuff and having it behind a paywall is what’s a little upsetting. And putting g rank in the base game just gives you the “option” of rushing to the end. If people are gonna rush playing the game they are gonna do it regardless. But the fact that we have g rank as another option to our play through instead of content only accessible through our wallets.
Been watching you for a good bit now, and never commented at all since I'm a lurker (and actually just noticed I'm wasn't even subbed... whoops :( ) but now's a good time to start I guess! Don't really search for and read updates about MH anymore since I don't have to because of this channel. Really appreciate what you do, it makes my MH news much, MUCH easier to keep up with. I'm well on board the hype train, I've played MH since the very first game on PS2, so it's the biggest game ever for me! As far as G-rank goes, I'll live with it not being in the base game, I have friends who will be playing for the very first time so it will be nice to be able to show them the ropes without the spike to G-rank that a lot of us like. And lets be honest, with the promise of plenty of new content post-release it's fairly likely G-rank or some other form of end game content will appear to keep everyone coming back for more. and entertained. What are your thoughts on possible new weapons? I can't remember if it was confirmed or not but I think there was talk about a new weapon being added to Generations, but they decided to go with styles instead? It may be possible that that weapon makes it's way over eventually? We can hope! Love your channel, glad that I found it and keep it going man, as I said before I appreciate what you do. :)
Yeah it'll likely be after a year or so, a new version will be released with g rank, and an expansion for people who have the base game. This is normal and to be expected but I'm quite interested in seeing these supposed new ways to expand on end game content.
Some Donut Guy yea. Tho i like how its looking so far. Already a new monster plus more coming the spring. I can see them adding monsters over time, leading to g rank coming as that trail sort of ends off
NØx-Senpai MHW would not last a year unless they keep pumping out new quests and updates regularly. Like all the previous titles they die in a few months.
Great vid Arekkz! If it's not launched with the game, I think adding Gore/Shagaru Magala later on along with an update to add a bunch of monsters in their frenzied (and possibly apex?) states could make for an interesting "Frenzy" dlc. It would also be awesome to have some of the elder dragons released in G event quests, guys like Dire Miralis, Lao Shan Lung, the Fatalis trio, Gogmazios, maybe even Dalamadur! Just imagine Dala on one of these maps...
This. It wouldn't have worked on handhelds so I get why they did it but for consoles there's no way they should be packaging it as an all new game. I would gladly pay a smaller price for an expansion tho.
What I wouldn't like is a full priced game just adding the G-rank, like previous MH. This play may work in Japan, but it will piss off a great deal of the Playstation community, specially with the current predatory practices and scandals going all over. Examples: MH3 -> MH3U MH4 -> MH4U MH Generations -> MG XX
I wouldn't expect them to break that trend. To be honest, they make more money with that framework, plus I don't see a whole "G Rank DLC" coming in the future.
Free dlc and you bitch when they want to make money on G rank versions of the game ? ... please man .. a company would go out of business In a heartbeat with your pitch perfect logic
I still wouldnt really include games like MHFU and MH4U as they, especially MHFU, added alot of content to the previous title. I do agree with your opinion although I can't imagine them pulling that stunt with MHW.
I would love more elaboration on G-Rank, because it can also include God-like monsters, alluding to perhaps the G-Rank category. Retooled monsters is cool but I think a lot of people also want more of what we may get a taste of with Zorah Magdoros. Gigantic monsters requiring their own areas and generally the same way of stages, where one might be you whittling it down or attempting to ground or immobilise the monster and stage two where you attack it head on. Just more awe-inspiring massive monsters akin to Fatalis, Dalamadur, Mohran that kind of thing.
I'm actually glad G rank is on hold for now. I want to take this game slow and honestly don't want so much content thrown at me at once, mainly because life is harder when you grow up lol.
DJ Weapon You're right. Honestly g rank at launch is fine too. It just does not bother me either way anymore for some reason. I will miss the cooler looking armor but honestly g rank monsters were almost just as easy high rank but the only mh's i played were tri and 3u.
Basically. Only thing that stuck out to me in 3U's G rank monsters are their much high higher healthpools. They rarely used or had their 1 or 2 new attacks.
DJ Weapon Do you know if slime weapons are going to be present in World? That was the only thing that bummed me out about 3U as they were so overpowered to where g rank felt as easy as low rank.
Don't know. *However,* dodogama (the amphibian looking blue monster with the large, rocky looking lower jaw) uses _explosive attacks._ There's also Teostra that had blast (what slime is now called) weapons in 4th gen. So there's a good chance that blast will be returning. As for slime being OP, it received a considerable nerf in 4th gen. So if it does return, I wouldn't worry so much about slime being end-all-be-all element to have.
Something like monster domestication or breeding as an ally or mount for specific large scale battles vs the largest monsters. The battle could be like an event and raising the monsters to their best would take around 3-4 months of casual playing.
I'm really glad you decided to cover this game, I wasn't really looking into this game til I saw you start posting about it and now I'm hyped. My digital copy is pre ordered and I'm ready to get in grind mode and conquer this dope looking game. Cant wait to see you post anthem stuff I'm still on the fence if I want to get that bad boy or not but can't wait to see game play for this game on your channel.
I'm new to the series. I played a minimal amount of Tri, but the gameplay went right over my head. I'm currently play Freedom Unite on my phone and I love it. It's difficult imo with the IOS controls, but still loads of fun (if anyone wants to play I'm down). VERY excited for MHW to release! I've missed both betas so I'm incredibly excited for the upcoming beta! Can't wait to be part of this community
I hope so bad... the endgame content we get is not something like arena / Trainingsschool or anything where youre not allowed to use ur own gear.. i always hated it to finish all of them xD..
Arena was never meant to be endgame content though. It unlocked a couple of unique armor pieces and gave you awards, really just something for the completionists.
I want this game to add lots of content over time until it has more monsters than any other in the series.. but they said they don't see it as a game service and it wont be supported in a few years.. what worries me is theyll do another douchebag move and have MH World X or whatever for full price where none of your stuff carries over where it easily could've been dlc or a small expansion.
Eileen the Crow well he's talking about full fledged paid expansions stuff, nothing that indicated they won't be doing events and free monster additions for years to come.
Remmuz crimsonlynx It literally says no long term content anywhere near 5 years down the line.. that most likely means the same as every other monster Hunter. So we'll probably get free premade content for about a year and they sell us a full priced rip off that could've been dlc in a year..
I mean, do you really see yourself still playing MHW on the PS4 5 years later, when there will inevitably be better and greater consoles/gaming experiences? The game designers wouldn't want to stay supporting something that long either. They would want to keep moving forward with innovation and the latest technology (VR/AR Monster Hunter???). 5 years would still be more than enough solid content. Expecting any more than that is a little unreasonable, subjectively and objectively.
I think they will add G-rank together with the PC version. Past games they often first released the normal version and later the ultimate version with G-rank included. The timespan until the PC release is comming also fits this criteria.
I really hope g rank is a paid dlc and not an entirely new game. Now that the game is on a next gen platform and huge patch can be downloaded, expansions are absolutely possible.
Wait you wanna pay for g rank? When they’d offer it for free? G rank was never paid for it was earned separating the community with a paid dlc which was always free would be dumb they need paid dlc in the form of armor shaders and costumes to hide your equipped set since most sets are mix and matched and look alien more costumes would be nicer paid g rank is a can of worms
SleepNasty So you'd rather pay 60 dollars to play this game, wait another year and spend fuck knows how much your yearly expenses are and pay another 60 dollars to get a G version of this game with less than 20% of the content being actually new?
DJ Weapon what’re you talking about a g version of the game? g rank is free it’s always been free. Are you asking whether or not I’d pay for the same game twice because they’d release an ultimate version idk that’s a whole different story all together I’m saying this game Monster hunter world MHW!!!!! is having free updates which may well include g rank. There is zero reason to pay for free content that was always earned and not purchased. Why would you want a paid g rank and who’s to say that they still won’t release this ultimate version you’re hinting at and charge twice for the same game and then charge twice for the g rank on both of them?!?! Paying for g rank is a bad and raw deal for us not capcom if you start paying for g rank then you will always pay for it regardless of whether an ultimate version was planned or not they can only get away with what you allow them too so why start?!?!
Something I would really, really, REALLY love to have implemented in the game is saved hunts. I want to be able to fly spectator mode on hunts and be able to record gameplay and make cinematic footage. It would be absolutely kick ass and generate so much more hype for a well deserving franchise.
I think some of the issues with gen wasn't that it didn't have g rank. Gen itself was particularly easy with styles. once you get the hand of adept style, you can go potless/naked runs without too much difficulty. I definately played MH4U more than MHGen, but I also played MHP2nd (no grank either) just has much as 4U and enjoyred it equally as much
skifree yeah I understand that, I’ve played portable 3rd (no g rank) and I enjoyed that too, but the deviants in gen just get boring and hyper mons are a joke imo. I actually enjoyed the guild quests in 4u, just gave you extra things to do.
but the real thing is, MH4 (without U) came in japan, and as always, lacked some features. It seems that's the way in Japan, but I dont think Western players likes these kind of releases. That's why they only published MH4U in America, and the reason you liked so much.
There is also a possibility of new weapons types! Since we are guarantied at least a 2 year support of update for the game, balancing a new type should be possible with community feedback
I’m not too concerned about G Rank. I mean, Generations didn’t have G Rank and it was still great. Of course I would PREFER if it was in the game, but no G Rank wouldn’t be the end of the world.
have a question the monster there are confirmed are not all monster or ? because 25 monster is realy small monster size for monster hunter ( sorry for my bad english )
leifi loyl The list says 36 monsters, at present, Deviljho is dlc, so 35, Lunastra seems like she's either going to be DLC or a surprise. Hopefully thats everything.
I've said this on the discord chat before, but I wish they did the thing where large warning signs show up and an unknown monster makes a roar somewhere, but you don't know which monster or from where the noise comes from. Then eerie music would start playing and eventually the monster would show up when you least expect it for extra shock value. That would add to the atmosphere a bit, I feel.
Elfren Authorlee thanks it’s just an idea and honestly I do think we’ll get g rank but it won’t be for a little while into the game like it’s on console the game will have so many quests to do in LR and HR so
Dylan taylor Yep, Gen was a spin-off but so is Frontier and it introduced Tonfas. Surely they'll make a game on Switch at some point (during the big gap between MH5 and MH6), naturally that console can't handle the stuff that other game devices do. So they'll probably use some stuff to involve people to acquire that game... stuff like new weapons, underwater hunts, new mechanics and stuff. If appreciated those features may be reused and improved for MH6.
honestly i would them to release deviant armor sets in some way, because my two favorite armor sets are silverwind narga and dreadking rathalos, they looked amazing in gen and i cant imagine how beautiful they'd look here
Yes, but with new armor/weapon sets for each monster, and they also add harder monsters that you wouldn’t find in low/high rank. Some monsters had additional moves, or acted different so it feels a lot fresher than you might think
Hey Arekkz. I just wanted to thank you for all the amazing work you did covering MHW since it was announced. Your weekly updates makes the wait for launch a little more bearable. Its like I won the lottery every time you show up on my notice feed. You and Gaijin Hunter are savior in those despererates waiting time. Keep up the good work! Hope to catch you online !
I don’t really care for g rank in this game. What I really want to see is the lvl system where monsters got stronger the more you beat them (lvl 140 rajang).
I love Monster Hunter Generations just fine without G Rank. In fact, I think G rank feels like simple artificial difficulty, Rajang two shots you with any attack, you get ohkoed by special moves, etc. In 3U the health pools were too inflated, and in 4U the damage was too inflated. The special permits and other end game stuff in Generations feel right.
I didn't like the special permits hunts, no one wants to help you in leveling them up. Same thing happened in MH4U with guild quests. I hate the system, what is the point when no one will help to level them up? If you get too late in doing them then it is bye.bye end game content for you.
@Hyena12 Yeah but at least this time it's been stated that everyone gets progress that was there for a whole quest so people don't have to do the same quest 4x to get it done for everyone
Tbh the 4U difficulty levels were my shit outside the lvl140 apex monsters quests where i just felt like I wasn't good enough for anything in life after failing them, and because some people are so cringy, like one time this dude kicked me out because i didnt get a KO on an 140 apex Jho.. Whos head is small asf and moves a lot
As long as it is not a permit system which I think won't come back in World anyway, I would still prefer G-rank though since that is what I am used to and having Deviants was awful since everyone was just using Hellblade armor and weapons.
I want more monsters (Barioth, Seregios, Tigrex, Alatreon, Lagiacrus...). Just like 20 or 30 monsters isnt enough for such an amazing game. Also more maps and challanges and maybe quests with sequences are a great way too improve the game after release
If Chameleos is even remotely close 2 what it was like in Gen, they should sack it. Was super boring and no challenge at all. Just a big meatball that cant kill any1. If it's close 2 MH4U I would appreciate him being featured in MHW as well since he at least had some kind of killing threat.
I want a system kinda like wycoons trading for monster parts but for the same monster. Basically you could bring in less rare cuts of the monster and trade them in for rarer parts of the monster.
This. Too many times have hundreds of us been fucked over by RNG. But to add my two cents. Instead of the wycoon, which I have great difficulty in trying to understand how the trading system would work when using his present system of taking less of something into more of that same something, it should be like the Argosy Captain's. Where wanting a particular item, you must trade other items that have the same or greater value. Rarity 5 items have a bar that, when completely filled, will give you that rarity 5 item. In order to fill that bar, you must deposit large amounts of rarity 4 items, or even rarity 5 ones in some monsters' cases, that came from the same monster as that rarity 5 item. Say for example a Rathalos plate is worth 400 points. You need to give items that add up to 400 points or greater. Scales are worth 10, shells are 20, tails are 35, talons are 40, webbings are 45, wings are 50, and marrows are 150. You then deposit the items that you want so it all equals to 400, and bingo, you now have a plate.
Hey Arekkz, I have a question about the turf wars the monsters wage with each other. We've seen Anjanath beating up Great Jagras and Rathalos subsequently beating up Anjanath, but can it happen the other way around as well? Does the turf war system act like a probability distribution based on monster sizes (if that's included in the game)? Would be cool to sometimes see Anjanath show Rathalos who's boss or Radobaan striking down Odogaron. Oh and one other thing, does each monster who live in the same ecosystem have a scripted turf war with each other, or only a few of them? Btw your vids are awesome!
For them to put it in the game because that's the only part of the game many people find worth playing. Or if they put DLC give it for free like they always have as an add on especially since they can't exactly call a series of repeatable 10 minute quests proper DLC especially with MH being pretty much devoid of storyline. "This monster that wasn't in vanilla is breaking things kill it. x200." Isn't exactly Fallout/Skyrim/Witcher tier DLC.
Well, it is kinda like Fallout/Skyrim/Witcher DLC. You know, those radiant quests? Those. *Base quest templates, infinitely repeatable, very little to no structure.*
True not all those games had worth while DLC but for sure the Witcher 3 did and they also gave out tiny DLC's that they thought people shouldn't have to pay for. I'd hate to see MH go down like Battlefront and whatever other series corporate bullshit has decided to ruin. What this armor with basically all armor skills???? For just 4.99 you can unlock the monster that gets it! Hell for 19.99 we'll just give you the damn set!!
Oh lol haven't played those games in ages but the radiant quests definitely sounded familiar Because they thought "Hey! Japanese people seem to be alright paying for 2 copies of the same game! The world will be fine with it too!" Did they even release MHXX in the west? Never heard anything about it.
I want them to keep the tried-and-true kick command in some way or another. Restricting it to just a Greatsword move and interaction with map elements seems like a mistake to me. Maybe make it an emote so you can set it in a quickslot, or make a remapable button for it and have it off by default, I don't know. But with some particularly crazy individuals having a tradition of kick-only-kills, I'd like them to keep that around.
I have been saying this. The game has way too many cutting types and way too little impact types. Only Hammer and HH(CB too, but you get what I mean). And all of those impact weapons are slow af. This game needs a fast paced Impact type weapon that requires the player to play really aggressive and rewards them for it. Of course the impact values would be smaller, but playing aggressive will be rewarded(ie. Dual blades). Same can be said about Ranged weapons. They can add like a dual wield old fashioned looking pistols. You can apply coatings to the bullets you shoot. Same premise as gauntlets, you need to be close and aggressive, but you will the higher DPS among ranged weapons. Trade off can be your coatings will not be as effective as other ranged weapons.
As a former d2 player, if feels absolutely amazing to see a game company have an actual plan with continual enjoyment for the players in mind, so refreshing
As long as the game is fun, and there is something to chase after, I'll play. A lot of developers can take notes from this series. Is the game fun? Does it look okay? Is there enough to do to keep players coming back? It seems so simple, but I feel like some devs and producers just look at numbers. I'm stoked that Capcom came through on this one and I hope that make enough money to keep this series going. Can't wait to dive back in to this world.
they have never released a brand new mh game with g rank straight off the bat. It's always added later in a new version of the game. If you expected G rank in mhw then you deserve to be dissapointed
It'd be interesting to see them add new weapon types,or at least bring them over from other games. Things like the accel axe from explore or the tonfas from frontier.
I'm probably in my own boat on this, but I want underwater combat to make a return cause that shit was fun in 3u and added an interesting way to fight monsters like Lagiacrus, Gobul, Plesioth, Ludroth, and the 2 elder dragons the bearded Ceadeaus and Dire Morialis. Maybe if they were to do it this time, they could put an interesting spin on it giving us items that allowed us to pull and submerge monsters in the water for a short time allowing us to get in a bunch of free hits while they struggle to get back on land.
Hopefully, if they add an expansion they add underwater fighting. I'm not complaining about them not having it, I can understand completely why not. But I think it would be worth throwing another 20-40 dollars down on a few new maps, with some of our old friends like Ludroth, Royal Ludroth, Lagiacrus, and Gobul. I mean even adding some of the other creatures in, even if they were just like special timed events would be pretty neat. But hey, I'm not going to complain or say anything this game has only been out for a week. I just made it to high rank, so to try to make another iceberg when I haven't even skimmed the top of the first one is just stupid. I will say though back in Monster Hunter Tri when I first saw the Royal Ludroth and Lagiacrus were definitely oh what is that moments. Almost like some of the more agile monsters they have in MHW like Tobi-Kadachi and Odogarn.
A destinyesque type "raid" would be a fun addition to end game. It would force players/groups into a different Dynamic and have to think of a team makeup or diversity in jobs to use in order to complete the raid with obviously a huge final boss to kill and plunder at the end of it.
I feel that instead of doing a G rank system like they have done in the past. Instead just add the added difficulty monsters in the even quests. And the gear that you get from them (that are only obtained by crafting of course) is the same stats as the high rank version but with a new look just to kinda show off your badassatood like a trophy. I feel like this would help keep those hard core players without making the new players feel overwhelmed and noobish. I know they have talked about time sensitive event quests. Hopefully they are down this line. Being a hard core Monster Hunter player since Tri. I would love this.
G rank is something that I've always look forward to as I've never had the chance to actually play G right before any monster hunter game but if I am talking thinking content what I would like to see most maybe his new weapons I've been following Frontier z a lot on the side and the tongue first that they can use and see actually seem pretty cool so got to be a nice addition to me maybe even some of the armor sets coming over.. the high fives of all three ideas would be kind of nice to G rank + Zenith monsters Plus new weapons I would pay for all of it no problem
It be nice to see them emphasize on the stealth function... Add in a skill that increases your critical chance 100% and your critical attack by 50 to 100% with your first attack out of stealth.. And also if they ever put in any new weapons.... It has got to be a boomerang like they already have the mechanic there with the little small Boomerang item.... It would be a mix of range and melee also a damn good anti-air weapon.. That's just my opinion..
I'm really interested in what they come up with for end game stuff. it sounds like they want to do more than just normal G rank. maybe they can flex the new systems to make entirely new quest types?
They could add a hardcore hunting mode where hunters get no carts, no healing and monsters are very aggressive, they also have less life and hunters stagger and sever monsters easier. It would be like a more grounded and realistic in terms of our world hunting experience
As for endgame content, I had this idea that they could add a randomized quest generator. So you check back every now and then, and you get a new quest to do.
I'm liking this idea. G-rank, end game content, new types of content, new maps, new monsters, and maybe just maybe new weapons in FREE post game DLC. This is going to be awesome.
Laurence Barnes there is a in game monster encyclopedia, tho it focuses more on practical things like elemental weaknesses, what parts are weak/strong to what dmg type etc more then lore.
Nice informative video, as always. :) Keep up this good work. Something I wonder about is if the savegames will be on an online account? So that PC/PS/Xbox Saves are interchangeable. This would be quite awesome, even if I doubt this will happen..
Given the capabilities of modern consoles and downloadable updates, I'd like to see 'seasonal' quests, or temporary quests, with variants of monsters allowing for different coloured gear. So years down the line people will have gear they earnt and new players will ask about it, and we can all tell a tail or 2 about the time getting the unique armour and weapons, Like in other mmorpg's.
Im down for them to being back older monsters from monster hunter tri 3 or ultimate. Ivory lagiacrus would be nice, or Nibelsnarf would be a good addition
I think they will eventually put G-rank into the game. They should add new monsters and maps because they finally have that ability again. You couldn't do that on the 3DS because you couldn't just add new content to the game that would affect how it plays or something too big because the cartridge and the 3DS would not be able to handle it. They have moved to console and PC where they can finally add new content that is bigger and better. It allows them to do so much more in their updates that they can actually change how the game is played. You'll notice that in DS games, if something that isn't a bug is broken, like a damage value or how a weapon functions, they can't really change it because it would affect how the game played on that system too much. I'm glad that when something that is OP happens, they will be able to fix it without having to release an entirely separate game.
Oh man I can imagine what the Zinogre theme DLC trailer would be. It's corny but just imagine with me for a second. The trailer opens with the Ancient Forest at daytime and a pleasant tune playing in the background. The day turns into night as the tune goes minor and you realize which theme that is. Then a monster leaps out from the underbrush and the theme goes to its full speed. It's the Zinogre and its theme and then the Zinogre starts kicking ass. Doesn't that sound awesome?
I'm actually kinda glad that G Rank isn't launching with the game right away. I don't want the game to feel like a "race to G rank" and just everyone blow through the game to get to the end. I want to grind out and fully play everything the game has to offer first without feeling like I'm "falling behind" so I think it's a pretty good call to save the G Rank content for later.
Enro the Mutt I very much agree with you.
Enro the Mutt frfr💯
That was exactly what i was thinking
Yeah, that's the thing I was worried about. People speeding up this game just to get ahead instead of saviouring the greatness the game offers.
Enro the Mutt completely agree with you
So long as G-Rank is going to be an undate or downloadable expansion, I don't have an issue. I don't want to have another MHGen/MHXX situation on my hands again.
agreed
what happened?
they aren't giving switch owners the XX game. So to play it you have to make a japanese account on switch and play the game in japanese.
TheMacel66 Mostly fan petitioning and the fact that the team initially stated there wasn't going to be a G-Rank expansion for Generations; mainly because their reasoning was that it is a Spin-off title.
Hypocrisy was involved afterwards...
mhxx has g rank...
new coral highlands gameplay, new arekkz video, and dark souls remaster announced.. this is a good fkn day!!
You said it!
the world ends with you as well! today was AWESOME!!
Dark souls remaster! Whaaat!
Just need demon's souls for current generation now 😁
it could be only on ps4 because sony still owns it but id love to see a demons souls remastered so much! especially after i got a ps4 now just for MHW. playing bloodborne until release and i really love it. i should have played it much earlier tbh
As far as they stop that "buy MHWG with full price regardless you bought MHW" bullshits, I'm willingly paying for an expansion for the G rank.
same
Atlas 47 why pay for something that you can get for free? If its to support the team, just buy the game.
Crash how would it be free?
Deon L free dlc? How else? This is my first MH game, but articles are claiming that the dlc will be free. I don’t know too much about g rank though.
Crash they are referring to added quests and new monsters/weapons &armor. I fully expect the g-rank to cost money. That is 8-12 months out though.
Only 15 days!😍 So hyped!
Rey I wish people would stop counting down the days. XD I'm not counting but everywhere I go someone keeps mentioning the number of days, lol. If you don't think about it, it comes faster.
15 whole days. I'm dying here
Me too
That would be 8 months
"Only" xD
I can already see what will be one dlc challenge... 3 Deviljho in the arena that don't fight eachother.
Mattia Berti ... dude, imagine 3 Deviljhos in 1 arena, ACTUALLY FIGHTING EACHOTHER!!
Okay calm down there Satan.
Sayu Satoru lol why satan
But have you SEEN the trailer? Deviljho holds other monsters in it's mouth while fighting! Can you imagine fighting a Deviljho HOLDING another Deviljho HOLDING ANOTHER Deviljho?!
ChozotheBozo Deviljhoception!
Everything in High Rank is considered endgame till G Rank expansion is out.
Especially the ones you need to grind your HR to unlock.
Ok so honest opinions, thoughts on that Nergigante Set on the thumbnail?
I think it's pretty darn sick!
Gartani I've seen it for the last couple months lol, it does look badass though. The Dual Blades are his claws and they are actual claws not daggers so that's even more badass. Also it looks like Charge Blade gets a shield with his Face on it looks badass.
The One who Breaks Supremacy game informer and random pics online. I delve into thst kinda shit lol.
Speedz The Anjanath set is undoubtably one of the best from a wide range of other unique armours. I get a knightly vibe off it. Definitely picking that one up!
Speedz honestly so far I love the design for almost every weapon I've seen in World so far.
nah. fire all the way

Oh man, new game mechanics? For instance....
Underwater combat? (Gets boo'd and hit with rotten tomatoes)
Wait wait i know, the community is really divided on this topic, but the only problem i think people had (which i didnt think were a problem for me) was the camera, but we have a lock-on feature now!
Thomas I like that idea
What about... AIR COMBAT? 🌝
I just want monoblos to come back I miss that many hearted beast.
Same! He was one of my favorites...loved his armor
To me the game sounds like it is going down the Frontier path, which imo is the best way they can do it, I just wish that G Rank was availiable from the start as HR has proved to not be all that challenging.
base game content already has a ton of shit to do. mhtri was perhaps one of the lightest mh games ever released as far as content goes and it still had over 400 hours of shit to do
Two things.
one: THEY BETTER BRING BACK NARGACUGA! i LOVED to fight the bastard and was so perfect on the timing i were able to down the G-rank version with only a few megapotions! and his design was just awesome
second: I dont mind G-rank as a paid expansion. as long as it´s nothing over 25 bucks. and endgame? Hell give us the guild quests from 4U back and get the deviant motherfuckers from XX on top! now THAT would be endgame content of epic proportions!
I know i know it most likely wont happen. but a nutcase of a hunter like me can dream right? :D
Psychoangel Yes, the Nargacuga was amazing, I probably never lost a mission against it in FU because it wasn't particularly hard, but it was very fun to fight
Alessandro Pedretti
Nargacugas attacks were fast but had generous wind ups making him a lot more predictable. Like Rajang but in fun
I want deviants back and hyper monsters back and I want to fight ludicrously hard hyper deviants and get hyper deviant specific gear.
Monster Hunter series have NEVER had their player pay for dlc, its always been completely free
They have always made players pay for G rank though. Usually a game is released without G rank then released later with it so you have to buy the game twice. The only reason you don't see it is that they usually only release the G rank free version in Japan and wait till it's complete to make a western release.
You wanna know what I wanna see? The Black God and the White God having a go at eachother. The best quest ever.
But uhh..add my favorite Gogmazios too, I want my Promised Nadir
Oh my god how come I haven't thought of that
You mean Alatreon vs White Fatalis? I dont think G-rank goes that Extrem in the main series
King of flames The Black God and the White God aren’t Alatreon and Fatalis. I can’t remember their names atm but
King of flames
He means Akantor vs Ukanlos.
Akantor is known as the Black God in MH lore, while Ukanlos is known as the White God.
MUCH more badass than 2 Fatalis fighting eachother. xD (Though there is no reason for Fatalis to fight eachother anyway.)
But sadly, idk if an Akantor vs Ukanlos fight would even be possible to happen, since they both live in Polar-opposite regions, one in volcanic regions and one in the Tundra.
That's good to hear.
Monster Hunter used to be on handheld systems, they couldn't possibly release expansions. Now, on the other hand...
What NekoFrost said. Things are changing there, interactive entertainment marketing-wise.
But for a more specific answer to your question of: "I have no idea how that trend stuck around until now with them."
Japan had, and still has, a culture of non-confrontationalism.
DJ Weapon To be fair, Monster Hunter 3 without G rank has been sold in the West too
Alright who wants Tigrex in the game for a Tundra Biome ?! :) also Brute Tigrex & Molten Tigrex for DLC like Deviljho ? :)
If Tigrex were added I would be most happy for the Brute variation and would like for its roar to cause bleeding.
#MakeG-RankIntoFreeDLCUpdate
Exaflare Bahamut Pff and people says game devs are greedy, don't be stingy and pay for some of there efforts.
Remmuz crimsonlynx they they should release g-rank in the base game
Some Donut Guy a year? That sounds a bit exssesive
Battle Cubes Yeah, I guess it's more like a year at max. It all depends on the post game support though
Some Donut Guy yea. Tho i like how its looking so far. Already a new monster plus more coming the spring. I can see them adding monsters over time, leading to g rank coming as that trail sort of ends off
Battle Cubes a year for the g expansion isn't unrealistic as its how it's been done so far.
I only want that if they make a "+ or G edition" they sell it as an expansion for the base game and not only like other game separated
This. It wouldn't have worked on handhelds so I get why they did it but for consoles there's no way they should be packaging it as an all new game. I would gladly pay a smaller price for an expansion tho.
Yup, speeding through LR and HR for a second time on US releases isnt the most fun I have had in MH
I want the customizable arena quests!
lollogar123 that’s actually genius
What I wouldn't like is a full priced game just adding the G-rank, like previous MH. This play may work in Japan, but it will piss off a great deal of the Playstation community, specially with the current predatory practices and scandals going all over.
Examples:
MH3 -> MH3U
MH4 -> MH4U
MH Generations -> MG XX
Jasepo. I would pay 100 bux for MHWG
Thats the monster hunter is
I would love more elaboration on G-Rank, because it can also include God-like monsters, alluding to perhaps the G-Rank category.
Loved looking for relic weapons really I did
AMBUKNIGHT same tbh
I liked looking for armor more. It was easier to get usable stuff
i liked it but the monster selection to get the good shit was extremely narrow and the everwood got boring after a while.
Ah I love the re-watching things in the gallery, the monster hunter intros are always so cool
I'm actually glad G rank is on hold for now. I want to take this game slow and honestly don't want so much content thrown at me at once, mainly because life is harder when you grow up lol.
DJ Weapon
You're right.
DJ Weapon
Do you know if slime weapons are going to be present in World?
That was the only thing that bummed me out about 3U as they were so overpowered to where g rank felt as easy as low rank.
Don't know.
*However,* dodogama (the amphibian looking blue monster with the large, rocky looking lower jaw) uses _explosive attacks._ There's also Teostra that had blast (what slime is now called) weapons in 4th gen.
So there's a good chance that blast will be returning.
As for slime being OP, it received a considerable nerf in 4th gen. So if it does return, I wouldn't worry so much about slime being end-all-be-all element to have.
DJ Weapon
Gotcha. Didnt play the later versions so didnt know it got a nerf. Good to hear.
Something like monster domestication or breeding as an ally or mount for specific large scale battles vs the largest monsters. The battle could be like an event and raising the monsters to their best would take around 3-4 months of casual playing.
Where is the real ELDER Monster called KING SHAKALAKA AT?? Pls make it happen!!
I think everyone know they are gonna bring G-Rank as DLC or expansion
Jerohi DLC is an expansion
Well I consider an expansion to be bigger than a DLC almost like half game or bigger but yeah I think their meaning makes them the same :)
Hey Arekkz was watching a PlayStation Access video & Holly gave you a shout out! Can't wait for this game
GIVE ME THIS NOW!!
NeoFluchs ikr
Arena is fun if your just messin around with your friends, but to get certain gear you want it can feel like a hassle.
Arena was never meant to be endgame content though. It unlocked a couple of unique armor pieces and gave you awards, really just something for the completionists.
except it unlock some stupidly strong set pieces in Gen so even I had to grind arena for it
Free updates welcome, over time I can see MHW having the biggest monster roster of the entire series.
Hinryu Nah. The roster will never get as big as Frontier's. But the most monsters for a mainline, maybe
Some Donut Guy Well, Frontier has a lot of subspecies
Kaizer737 yeah that's why it'll probably be the biggest roster for a long while
I want this game to add lots of content over time until it has more monsters than any other in the series.. but they said they don't see it as a game service and it wont be supported in a few years.. what worries me is theyll do another douchebag move and have MH World X or whatever for full price where none of your stuff carries over where it easily could've been dlc or a small expansion.
Eileen the Crow eh, ya sure about that, I remember them saying they *are* seeing it as a platform they'll be supporting for many years...
The game's producer disagrees with you: gamingbolt.com/monster-hunter-world-has-dlc-plans-but-not-a-service-model
Gabriele Mucci agreed, I’d pay for a G rank expansion.
Gabriele Mucci um no g rank should not be a payed thing it's like putting a pay wall on the key features veterans and new players alike might enjoy
I love g rank! It gives more in end content, that’s why I played mh4u much longer than gen
XX fixed problems with the difficulty sadly we didn't get it.
Mattia Berti yeah. Wish they would’ve, the new styles make it so much fun. Got to play the demo and I wish they’d bring it over
but the real thing is, MH4 (without U) came in japan, and as always, lacked some features.
Ninten-Drew But it had low and high rank, this game doesn't.
Where did you hear that?
Ninten-Drew Umm, the developers said that the multiplayer part of the game shares the same missions as the campaign
Kaizer737 all single player missions are multiplayer. There is still low and high rank missions.
Yeah... That does absolutely nothing to back up your claim.
So excited for this game! Only 2 weeks left! Great content. Keep up the good work.
have a question the monster there are confirmed are not all monster or ? because 25 monster is realy small monster size for monster hunter ( sorry for my bad english )
leifi loyl I hope so
i hope so too when this all monster in monster hunter world is this the smallest size of monster in a monster hunter game of all time
not of all time tri had 18
leifi loyl The list says 36 monsters, at present, Deviljho is dlc, so 35, Lunastra seems like she's either going to be DLC or a surprise. Hopefully thats everything.
The One who Breaks Supremacy of course ;)
I've said this on the discord chat before, but I wish they did the thing where large warning signs show up and an unknown monster makes a roar somewhere, but you don't know which monster or from where the noise comes from. Then eerie music would start playing and eventually the monster would show up when you least expect it for extra shock value. That would add to the atmosphere a bit, I feel.
I know it’s far fetched but potential new weapon? The styles in generations were decided on over a new weapon so
That's not far fetched, the Chinese Monster Hunter Online is getting a 15th weapon.
Elfren Authorlee thanks it’s just an idea and honestly I do think we’ll get g rank but it won’t be for a little while into the game like it’s on console the game will have so many quests to do in LR and HR so
I think that it's not the moment for a new weapon yet... maybe in a Generation-like game of 5th gen or MH6.
Mattia Berti I’m pretty sure new weapons were added in the each generation of games and mhgen was just a spin-off game
Dylan taylor
Yep, Gen was a spin-off but so is Frontier and it introduced Tonfas.
It's only 2 weeks away, but I just can't wait...Hype is at the highest POINT!!!!
Thumbs up if you played UMH 3 on wii u 😎
honestly i would them to release deviant armor sets in some way, because my two favorite armor sets are silverwind narga and dreadking rathalos, they looked amazing in gen and i cant imagine how beautiful they'd look here
G rank is fighting the same monsters but with color and power diferent ?
And new motion, bigger size, new map and new monster for G rank
Mostly High Rank adds new and more challenging monsters and G-Rank buffs all monsters on a ridiculous levels.
All right, thank's and see you on mhw ✌️
The One who Breaks Supremacy so it mean it's a sad news that there is no g rank in mhw....
Reggie C I hated those 140 apex monsters in 4U, pain in the ass when farming for relics lol
Reggie C Not just 1, but 2 in a mission
I'm just super stoked in general. I've got two new players coming into the game to mentor through some hunts!
Hyena12 I was mainly talking about the difficulty of the quests. The system for leveling only one person at a time could use work.
BUT WHAT ABOUT CHAMELEOS
Shane O'Neill what DOES invisible look like in 4K????
well still wouldn’t know I don’t have a 4K tv but THE POINT STANDS!!!
I wish I had got hyped for this instead of destiny
I'm still excited for it but gaming has me burned atm
Joshua Hensley
yeah, destiny fucking sucks. yet people still eat that garbage up.
this is definitely worth the hype.
Pornhub time?
loving ryona Mario odyssey lived up to the hype tho
loving ryona Pokemon has gone downhill but Mario Odyssey is good
Hey Arekkz, I have a question about the turf wars the monsters wage with each other.
Kevin Ramos I view this more as a food chain than a turf war.
No Arekkz it is NOT okay for them to charge for G-Rank by putting it in a paid expansion....
Then what is okay for them to do?
Oh lol haven't played those games in ages but the radiant quests definitely sounded familiar
Because they thought "Hey!
Oof what about a “center of the earth” map I’d like to see that..other people want a space map! ..Christ an Anjanath wearing a space helmet..
monster hunter is set in a primal age... You cannot have space suits, or a Molten Core Map
Jasepo did you even read it. It’s a concept you Tard
Guild raids with raid exclusive monsters and armour, or like a world boss that everyone can chip away at to either repel or kill
Would never happen....but I would like fist weapons in the game lol
agreed big gauntlets
Zero Frost I can just see it brachydios gets added and you could use his slime covered arms as fist weapons lol would be cool
Like the tonfas in MHF? (Or whatever they're called I don't remember.)
Nargycu just like a new weapon type. Not just dual blades that look like fist
Hi! My name is Zang and I will become a known hunter
Can't wait to dive back in to this world.
so no G rank? welp thats a bit disapointing
Eater of Souls for now.
they have never released a brand new mh game with g rank straight off the bat. It's always added later in a new version of the game. If you expected G rank in mhw then you deserve to be dissapointed
Did you even watch the video?
Otsisossi they never sold a full monster hunter game for $140. Remember that hand held is way cheaper than console games.
MrDownbyme how's this relevant?
It'd be interesting to see them add new weapon types,or at least bring them over from other games. Things like the accel axe from explore or the tonfas from frontier.
Dark souls remastered for switch!!!
n21james1 It'll be the worst version though.
Hyped for the Dark souls remaster on Nintendo Switch!
Bulletproof222 can't wait!!
Hyped!!!
Dark Souls is a lot better than half-assed game like Monster Hunter World.
Crowley Reid quite the opinion. Both games are very different
Maybe if they were to do it this time, they could put an interesting spin on it giving us items that allowed us to pull and submerge monsters in the water for a short time allowing us to get in a bunch of free hits while they struggle to get back on land.
i would love them to make a way to customize arena quests. I remember people making custom quests in mh4u and it was a ton of fun
only 2 weeks left
I was wearing nuraphones while your intro played and now I have the skull shivers.
I would really like to see the ecology for each monster in the gallery like in PSP MHFU. Those were really cool clips
Tundra map is #1 on my list because of everything they can add (and bring back) with it.
As for endgame content, I had this idea that they could add a randomized quest generator. So you check back every now and then, and you get a new quest to do.
How about adding in (if not in) Subspecies of Monsters? So Azure, Pink, Gold and Silver Raths for example
Even I had the same doubt... Thx Arekkz
@Arekkz what do you think about a new weapon system? Adding weapons like whips and more.
I'm liking this idea. G-rank, end game content, new types of content, new maps, new monsters, and maybe just maybe new weapons in FREE post game DLC. This is going to be awesome.
Will there be a Bestiary? Odd request but i've always enjoyed going through them and just looking at all the enemies and reading bits of info on them.
Didn't enjoy Gen nearly as much as 4U but the deviants were a pretty solid endgame setup.
To be able to receive all these updates, just because of this being on console is going to be mind blowing...
Im down for them to being back older monsters from monster hunter tri 3 or ultimate. Ivory lagiacrus would be nice, or Nibelsnarf would be a good addition
Words can’t possibly explain how excited I’m for this game.
So hyped for this, got my preorder ready!
You just got a pretty decent praise on the PlayStation access video. Hollie gave you mad props.
