I don't know man, I can't get into these youtube rappers. Hip hop is a certain culture & these guys don't fall into it. They're just guys who decided to rap & have a platform to be able to do so. They don't come from the same backgrounds as a lot of rappers do. Think of great rappers, the OG's; none of these youtube rappers fit that mould. For me, they could never be in the same category. They didn't have to grind & persevere through trials & tribs to make it. & I say 'make it' loosely, as YT rappers have a niche market; they might clock up a few million views over time, but the OG's are hitting a billion+ & still raking in views, on top of selling millions of physical hard copy albums. The two worlds aren't comparable in any realm.
Music is Music. It doesn't matter the platform. What's different about Tom's lived experience than say any other rapper who grew up in a bad spot? This is a brain dead take.
