Miss World is actually an ever-changing pageant. One year there’s a swimsuit competition, the following year there isn’t. One year there’s a leaderboard, the following year there isn’t. One year a front runner and deserving winner actually wins, the following year it’s WTF. The changes are so unpredictable and arbitrary that audiences find no sense in how the competition works. No wonder they’ve lost all telecast following!

I'm not a pageant fan, I just love listening to you talk. I learn a lot about a topic that I never really thought much about just because I like your method of expression.
The biggest difference between Miss world and other pageants is that to understand it, you need to follow it from the moment the ladies arrive to the venue. You can actually see all the competitions you are referring to, except you have to watch them prior to the finals. If you follow through the events prior to the finals, you can guess fairly well the semifinalists and the winner. Also, while miss universe is won on stage the final night of the competition, Miss word is won throughout the concentration and the final night is a results night of sorts.
Hi! This is my first time watching at you, I loved your energy and all that vibe(I even though subscribed). I’m a big fan of Miss World, and let me tell you girl that MW is more about the reigning year due to the social project and how much the winner and finalists can do something for the society (it’s the only pageant that tour the top 5) and that is the magic of this organization. Now, moving to the final night, yes, I think that they need to be more transparent with the process and I haven’t thought on broadcast the fast tracks(sports, top model) that would give us more clues and info on which competitor might win the final night, and I got a issue: who tha heck are this performers!!! I’ve never been seen them before, agree with that.

But MI is part of the BIG4 pageant so I guess we have to respect the organization. MW on the other hand has been on a downward spiral since 2000. MW was nearly on the same level as MU but not anymore. MW is so irrelevant now.

I hope the Miss World Organization is watching this. Your points are valid to infinity Queen. Miss World needs to get back on track like the 90s. It was so glamorous and grandeur with so much spotlight for the contestants. Julia needs to take a break just as much as the organizers who are so so out of date.
@@brybry3633 What I love about beauty the MU pageant is that you see how the girls compite, show their talents and strategies. In most editions of the MU pageant we agree that the crowning was fair. Do you know another pageant with similar entertaiment and a sense of justice ?
You’re so right! Worse part is when they announce the quarter finalists then semi finalists and finally the finalists. And they’ve done nothing and the girls are still in their gowns. Julia picks her winner already before the finals so the show should be cut down to half hour to save us the boredom.
Miss America and Miss World are somewhat similar in the sense of not wanting to "judge" women based on physical and outward beauty at least on the finals night. Both lean more towards interviews, questions and answers, platforms, and talent. However the funny thing is that the national competitions to send representatives to Miss World still hold on to the typical elements of competition such as the swimsuit and evening wear (i.e. Miss World Philippines and Miss Venezuela Mundo).
Miss world has her Disney princess moment, but only the winner when she does her very queenly 1st walk after being crowned. The crown, the throne, the music , everything is so queenly.

Miss World 1997 was the first pageant I ever watched and I must say at that point as a kid, watching my first pageant and becoming a fan, I found it so much more thoroughly engaging and entertaining as well as meticulously structured when compared to Miss Universe 2001, which was my first Miss Universe to watch. I must say watching in more recent years, which was when my country Fiji began competing internationally again (only in Miss World and Miss Earth currently. I hope one day in the near future we will return to competing at Miss Universe, where we last competed in 1981), the coronation day production is such a disaster, the only segments I bother to watch are the talent segment (which does offer some semblance of entertainment and gives contestants an actual platform to showcase their talent), the dances of the world (which is not a scored segment but rather a cultural showcase with each contestant being given a moment to spotlight their culture and heritage through dance), and the final question round, just to gage who the most likely winner will be. Here are the things that I believe desperately needs to change: 1. The panel of judges - the selection of judges needs to be a more scrutinized. Julia Morley and friends needs to take a seat in the background, not at the judges table. It's great that they have a special panel of former Miss World winners, but having the judges panel populated by her longtime associates, as well as herself, is clearly not doing the pageant well. 2. Bring back the swimsuit and evening gown segments - clearly the omission of these two age-old standard staples of pageantry has not done Miss World any favours in the long run. Do away with top model and allow all contestants to compete in evening gown. As for swimsuit, they can take their cue from the 1997 contest where the women all wore custom suits, unique to their country's style. 3. Televise/livestream the sportswoman and talent competition - they should be televised and streamed on the actual day of competition, not cut and edited to 5 minute videos during coronation night. The contestants deserve that much for all the time, energy and effort they give and the audience are owed it for the time and love we invest into our contestants and the pageant. 4. Change the question and answer format - they need to change the way that contestants are asked the final question. If anything, ask the contestants different questions in the first round, and then ask them all the same question in the final round, and in doing so have the women waiting their turn to answer wear headphones so that they don't copy each other and give more genuine and sincere answers. 5. Provide interpreters - this is something Miss World should have as an international event. It's a very colonial attitude of "we speak English here so you should too". Just because a queen cannot speak fluently or articulate herself clearly and eloquently in English doesn't make her less intelligent or less capable or deserving of wearing the crown and carrying the title. Julia Morley and her yes man squad need to address this ASAP. Overall, I absolutely agree with everything that highlighted Devona and I do hope Julia Morley will address all these things, before her pageant fades into oblivion.
Finally someone was direct enough to address the major weaknesses of the very boring culinary show, without being afraid of being attacked by the very few bur very vocal fantards of the cookfest. Bravo, The Sovereign! 👏 👏 👏
Miss Grand is an imitation of Miss Universe. It doesn't have a real branding like Miss World, or even Miss Earth has. Miss Earth and Miss Universe do have the best branding out of all. I like how MU caters to Female Empowerment, and Miss Earth to Environmental Conservation. But Miss Grand? They don't do anything.

Absolutely true, when i first started watching beauty pageants, I watched miss world first, then when I watched miss universe, damnn, I just had to pause miss world and go back and watch all previous miss universe editions. I don’t even currently know where to find the latest miss world full show.
Ms. Sovereign, it was an accident seeing your page while I was browsing TH-cam. I was amazed and impressed the way you presented your topic with an equally stunning assistant at the background.Your thoughts on how Miss World was judged ( sports, talent, interview,pasarela) were also my gauge how to pick a winner. We were proven wrong when someone was announced a winner during the coronation. A very recent example was when Puerto Rico was announced winner in 2016 over Catriona. She was not in the top list of performers in Sports, Talent, Pasarela and interview.Where did she come from? Obviously from Julia's cooking pan .Shout from a pinoy from Myanmar.
Exactly my thoughts.. I want to share something : 1. I was watching Miss World 2017 first they called 40 candidates then cut to 10 ..but on what basis they were cut there were no swimsuit or evening gown or interview segment. So what is the parameter of cutting down ??? 2. Again from top 10 to top 5 .. No elimination process was shown. 3. They asked different questions to 5 finalists and after that there was winner. Like what the hell is going on .. No elimination process , no common question asked. I was moving backward and forward to find out if I have missed something. But nothing was there . How they decide the winner??!! And the winning answer of India was not "unique" or "intelligent" as in a head to head challenge sri lanka was asked that question and she replied "profession of a mother" So the question answer are also rehersed way before the final night. Like what is wrong with this pagent ..it is so fake and unethical judgement. I was feeling Miss Earth or Miss Supranational is way better than this. Miss World sucks

Miss Whirled is whoever Julia Morley chooses to win, however the presence of national directors of the winning country made it more suspect. Winners used to belong from former British colonies most of the time, oh wait, it still is (India, Jamaica, etc....) The husband used to pick two candidates from South Africa called the Piano diplomacy to compete. It is not candidate-centric anymore unlike the rest of the others.
When Miss World was taken over by Julia and her son after the death of Eric, the pageant became tooooooo damn boring. I could watch other pageants, minor pageants to say the least because of the entertainment content.

Miss World’s org already picked who they want to win the majestic blue crown even before the finals night. So, the pageant is just a coronation ball.

Just because a queen cannot speak fluently or articulate herself clearly and eloquently in English doesn't make her less intelligent or less capable or deserving of wearing the crown and carrying the title. Julia Morley and her yes man squad need to address this ASAP.
Overall, I absolutely agree with everything that highlighted Devona and I do hope Julia Morley will address all these things, before her pageant fades into oblivion.

Miss Grand is an imitation of Miss Universe. It doesn't have a real branding like Miss World, or even Miss Earth has. Miss Earth and Miss Universe do have the best branding out of all. I like how MU caters to Female Empowerment, and Miss Earth to Environmental Conservation. But Miss Grand? They don't do anything.

All those points you made are 100% valid. We need more brave pageant vloggers like you to remind exactly why the Miss World org needs to improve its presentation. I hope Miss World's president Julia Morley is watching this and will seriously apply to her pageant everything you said she needs to do.

Absolutely true, when i first started watching beauty pageants, I watched miss world first, then when I watched miss universe, damnn, I just had to pause miss world and go back and watch all previous miss universe editions. I don’t even currently know where to find the latest miss world full show.
Ms. Sovereign, it was an accident seeing your page while I was browsing TH-cam. I was amazed and impressed the way you presented your topic with an equally stunning assistant at the background.Your thoughts on how Miss World was judged ( sports, talent, interview,pasarela) were also my gauge how to pick a winner. We were proven wrong when someone was announced a winner during the coronation. A very recent example was when Puerto Rico was announced winner in 2016 over Catriona. She was not in the top list of performers in Sports, Talent, Pasarela and interview.Where did she come from? Obviously from Julia's cooking pan .Shout from a pinoy from Myanmar.

Exactly my thoughts.. I want to share something :
1. I was watching Miss World 2017 first they called 40 candidates then cut to 10 ..but on what basis they were cut there were no swimsuit or evening gown or interview segment. So what is the parameter of cutting down ???
2. Again from top 10 to top 5 .. No elimination process was shown.
3. They asked different questions to 5 finalists and after that there was winner. Like what the hell is going on .. No elimination process , no common question asked. I was moving backward and forward to find out if I have missed something. But nothing was there .
How they decide the winner??!!
And the winning answer of India was not "unique" or "intelligent" as in a head to head challenge sri lanka was asked that question and she replied "profession of a mother"
So the question answer are also rehersed way before the final night.
Like what is wrong with this pagent ..it is so fake and unethical judgement. I was feeling Miss Earth or Miss Supranational is way better than this. Miss World sucks

Miss Whirled is whoever Julia Morley chooses to win, however the presence of national directors of the winning country made it more suspect. Winners used to belong from former British colonies most of the time, oh wait, it still is (India, Jamaica, etc....) The husband used to pick two candidates from South Africa called the Piano diplomacy to compete. It is not candidate-centric anymore unlike the rest of the others.

When Miss World was taken over by Julia and her son after the death of Eric, the pageant became tooooooo damn boring. I could watch other pageants, minor pageants to say the least because of the entertainment content.
