  • I don’t think this is particularly impressive as the real skill is in building these arches. They come pre made which does help to keep dust down on site.
This was the second one I did on this site.
The 3rd one I did I pointed on the ground which was a bit quicker but was also a bit dirtier. Plus we could do one side and the underneath. The Fork lift wouldn’t flip it so we had to point the backside when it was in place anyway.
Very deep joints so pointing it with a pointing trowel would of been a really slow process!!!
If you have to do one on site I would recommend this mortar gun from ‪@toolstationltd‬ although I have heard about mortar piping bags that are meant to be good !

Great job, what way will you clean the brick face, acid ?

Yeah, on all the big sites in the uk the houses get washed off with acid and usually a jet wash. They feed a diluted hydrochloric acid into their jet wash and use the long lance to apply it to the house. Then they either just rinse it off or go at it with the jet wash setting to get any heavy staining off!
Even if the house is perfectly clean they still do it lol. Sometimes they can make a right mess with the jet wash!
To be fair the houses look ace when they are done 👌🏼
I used to lightly acid off all my extensions and it made such a difference.

@@brickworkfundamentals4636 thanks for replying 🤚, I’ve always wondered though surely the acid wash taints the jointing of the brickwork, any info would be appreciated thanks

It can take the face off the jointing for sure! The key is to saturate the brickwork first! If your trying it on a private job I would recommend getting some patio cleaner or mortar strain remover from Builders merchants . It’s all the same thing (hydrochloric acid) just different concentrations of water/acid .
Soak a few square meters of brick work then Apply the acid with a brush (diluted as stated on the instructions on the bottle) . If it’s fizzing slightly then it’s working. If it’s not fizzing it’s probably diluted a bit to much. If it’s fizzing like crazy then rinse it straight off and dilute it more.
For heavy stains then leave it on mor a couple of minus but if it’s just a light acid of then I just rinse it off near enough straight away👍
I used to give all my extensions a light acid off. You soon get the hang of it !
      I think I’ll do a vid on it 😀👍
      Cheers for comment

It does yes ! The force it pushes it in seems to make it stick to the sides. Highly recommend 👍👍

Hi mate how much extra u getting for the arch out of interest 👍🏽

    • @brickworkfundamentals4636
      @brickworkfundamentals4636  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Tom! I couldn’t tell you exactly….There is Only an extra £200 over and above the count which sounds pretty rubbish. However when working our price out for the house the QS will have counted that area as if it was solid brickwork. Because of this we are getting paid quite a lot more for than £200. Not sure that makes sense sorry lol
