Lemme say majority of the patients don't want to listen but they want to be heard and wants it solved but does not even let us help them by resolving. . . They belittle us so much even though they are aware that we have to be certified and keep up with our renewals in order to be behind the counter. BUT good on you for getting out. I am getting out once I graduate. You are right , the things we see now cannot be unseen . . . .
The belittling and entitlement is the worst part, there's so much impatience, they treat all of the staff like they're mcdonalds workers, when everyone has gone through certification and years of schooling
@@lilitmac EXACTLY. One day we were so understaffed and I wanted to cry. A patient walked in and just got upset I told her it would take 15-20 minutes to refill her 3 rxs. She was upset and said it shouldn't take that long to put pills in the bottle. I said "You're right. What takes us longer is to ensure we fill the right medication and dosage as well as ensuring you don't overdose on your medications that takes longer." She flipped out on me and said she knows how it's done and that it could be done quicker. I offered her an application to apply because she would become a great asset to the team since we're understaffed and her mindset is what our team needs. I asked if she would like an application for a position in the pharmacy and she said, "I'll just wait then," and walked off to the waiting area. Baffled, but at the same time I was exhausted from doing 2 back to back shifts AND nursing school. The entitlement, belittling, AND inability to work with us to resolving issues rather than focusing ON the issue is astounding.

And when they finally talk to the manager realized I did only what I can, they act all nice and like nothing happened. Girl, own up to your mistake. Apologize for verbalizing a*using people. It’s awful how badly we’re treated when we’re in the field to help people.

Damn this is triggering. I worked in a nail salon and this is giving me PTSD girl! I had no idea pharmacist dealt with these kinds of people too. I’ve been threatened too but I t costs thousands $$$$$ to sue and 99% of the time they won’t put their wallet where their mouth is… they’ll just find any reason to abuse the workers if they had a bad day. oh my god, nail salon workers get it so bad... people get nasty and the whole refusing to pay for their service because of this or that.... my mom has 2 nail salons and I get so mad when I hear how some customers talk to her and her workers, it's terrible because this is not uncommon in the service industry, people forget that these are human beings too
I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. Two of my friends are veterinarians, and they've had similar stories to yours. It just amazes me how idiotic some people can be. I work in a dental office and I've overheard on one occasion a patient threatening to sue us or write a bad yelp review.
Just binged watch all your latest uploads and this one was just insane lmao I used to work in healthcare and the amount of f*ckery I dealt with makes for good tea sessions 😂 I used to work at a very busy optical in downtown Toronto and there was always this man who’d drop by during his lunch to say how he was gonna sue our asses 😅
This happens so much that retail pharmacists don't expect / get any apologies, on a positive note, these negative experiences has hardened our skin against future verbal abuse in such a thankless profession
Hi Lili, I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. It's so frustrating to deal with people like that even though they have no idea what they are even talking about. I'm glad that your manager has your back. My story: I had a patient in the ICU on some vasopressors for hypotension, but she was ok otherwise. The patient takes some hypertensive medications at home normally. She was so angry accusing me of trying to murder her by not giving her regular bp meds and absolutely refuses to listen to any explanation. She wouldn't even let me even get a word in, just started ranting, and called her family to tell them to report me for trying to kill her 🤷♀
It's so sad!!! we are honestly only trying to help and do our jobs efficiently and accurately, often times our explanations fall on deaf ears and it's an endless cycle :(

Welp, that tech gave a bad advice and all the backlash fell on my mom. NoW she has to do a master's degree to get her license back

Pharmacist still won but negligence on pharmacy companies as well for not protecting their pharmacists.
I’ve been working in healthcare for what 20 years and I was always told no matter what, patients are always right. Even, if we (healthcare workers) know, they are wrong. I’ve been through that same incident with attempting to explain what the NDC # is when we have recalls, but it’s a whole different language for patients. Lmao , I've been in pharmacy since 2012 and when I used to watch your videos years ago and you said you were in pharmacy school my first instinct was "whyyyyy?!?!?!" LOl retail pharmacy at chains is literally hell I've seen good pharmacist become addicted to meds or alcohol over the stress of working there . If anyone is thinking about any career in pharmacy stick to hospital or some kind of work from home option because chain retails do not care for their employees and due to the environment customers don't get the best care and blame it on the person in front of them instead of the corporation. I always thought the customers were crazy and over demanding until I started working at a small private pharmacy and saw how different and caring the environment is when the actual owners work with you and are more flexible when it comes to helping the customers. No daily vaccine quota, no wasting time on calls customers don't want , having extra staff who deal with the order and otc maintenance. Private pharmacies are why patients act out when they don't get their way from chain pharmacy employees because they know how much better the service is in a small neighborhood pharmacy and they expect the same treatment everywhere but don't take into consideration the differences in how they are run.

Girlll... lmfao!!! I am starting medical school this summer and being sued for malpractice, even when you are doing everything right is something that truly scares me. I just hope I can be a good doctor and do right by each patient, and as long as we as healthcare professionals approach a situation with authenticity and genuine care for each patient, I can only hope the law will be on our side in situations like this. Definitely super scary and stressful though nevertheless, hang in there girl!!

Wow I feel so triggered watching this video hahaha I graduated in 2020 and I’ll never forget my FIRST solo pharmacist shift. A girl came in looking for her adderall but we had to order it. Her moms on the phone FREAKING OUT. I explained it’s a controlled substance, it’s ordered differently from regular meds. I’m just a floater, the manager will be in tm to sign the order form (back before it was digital). She flips out at me saying she’s a nurse, it’s not controlled. Tells me I need to review my information. I responded with “I know what I’m talking about, I just took my law exam a month ago. I will not talk to you anymore” and walked away. Her own daughter hangs up on her and said “I’m sorry my mom is such a Karen”.

How rude! I work at a restaurant and i had a customer go off on me just because there were strawberries in her salad and at the time there was a strawberry recall but it was not affecting our state. She said she was going to sue the entire staff and management team. In the end she got a free meal , which is probably what she wanted to begin with , and left me a very scathing review on Google! :) Take heart, my hard working pharmacy/retail worker, that Karen just made a complete fool of herself! ^^ And she'll never be as smart or as pretty, as you!
I do not like being a pharmacist anymore. 2017 grad 🧑🎓 and don’t even work community…. Too much thanklessness and most companies treat you badly. Kids: not worth it.
The pharmacist at my Walmart will not even answer a question. She is very rude. I do not feel sorry for a person working in the public and treating people with disrespect. We had a misunderstanding in a telephone conversation and she screamed at me and hung up on me. Undoubtedly she hates her job.
I definitely feel for patients and their concerns, we don't know what they are going through, it's just so often forgotten that people that work in the service industry // with customers // patients are often treated like a punching bag and all they are trying to do is help people / their jobs.

Girlll... lmfao!!! I am starting medical school this summer and being sued for malpractice, even when you are doing everything right is something that truly scares me. I just hope I can be a good doctor and do right by each patient, and as long as we as healthcare professionals approach a situation with authenticity and genuine care for each patient, I can only hope the law will be on our side in situations like this. Definitely super scary and stressful though nevertheless, hang in there girl!!

CPhT tappin in~ I’ve experienced a patient threatening to shoot the staff bc he was too early for his Fentanyl refill. Our pharmacist on duty had to call the police. What a morning that was 🥲 First patient of the day too.

Wow I feel so triggered watching this video hahaha I graduated in 2020 and I’ll never forget my FIRST solo pharmacist shift. A girl came in looking for her adderall but we had to order it. Her moms on the phone FREAKING OUT. I explained it’s a controlled substance, it’s ordered differently from regular meds. I’m just a floater, the manager will be in tm to sign the order form (back before it was digital). She flips out at me saying she’s a nurse, it’s not controlled. Tells me I need to review my information. I responded with “I know what I’m talking about, I just took my law exam a month ago. I will not talk to you anymore” and walked away. Her own daughter hangs up on her and said “I’m sorry my mom is such a Karen”.

I'm currently a pharmacy student and I'm on a 6 month-internship. I feel like this is really not for me and I'm pretty sure I won't do this job after I graduate. I work at a restaurant and i had a customer go off on me just because there were strawberries in her salad and at the time there was a strawberry recall but it was not affecting our state. She said she was going to sue the entire staff and management team. In the end she got a free meal , which is probably what she wanted to begin with , and left me a very scathing review on Google! :)

The pharmacist at my Walmart will not even answer a question. She is very rude. I do not feel sorry for a person working in the public and treating people with disrespect. We had a
misunderstanding in a telephone conversation and she screamed at me and hung up on me. Undoubtedly she hates her job.
Walk a mile in her shoes and you'll understand. (Not defending her rudeness, but this job takes a toll on your mental health)

I definitely feel for patients and their concerns, we don't know what they are going through, it's just so often forgotten that people that work in the service industry // with customers // patients are often treated like a punching bag and all they are trying to do is help people / their jobs.
