That is an ingenious way to draw around the bowl with the cardboard stencil. I would never have thought of that. Thanks so much for sharing Laura. Lee x
I just ordered some fabric with the cat designs. Once again you have created an awesome tutorial for a great, helpful item in the kitchen. Thank you for all you do for the sewing community!
The cardboard spacer is genius! I’ve never heard of splash fabric so will be looking for some of that because I’ve only got standard cotton for my bowl covers.
I’m going to get fabric to make several sizes of these! They’re SO much nicer and more durable than the thin, flimsy plastic ones from the grocery store! Thanks Laura🧵🧵
You are amazing.you are like my mom ...she's at rest now.but we use to sew together it was fun. We had a lot of laughs it was grate u are wonderful.God bless you mom.keep going❤❤
I knew you'd have the best instructions for this project. I'm using a picnic tablecloth for mine. The laminated fabric is very cute but too pricey for me.
The piece of card board makes it so easy, I like your fabric selections. That is a handy foot to have, I must check mine to see if I have something similiar! ❤
I am amazed by the simple yet brilliant template!! Plus, i have been looking for the type of fabric you have to make sourdough starter jar covers for my dear daughter-in-law’s micro bakery!
Hi Laura! I am having trouble with tension as I sew these. I sewed them first with plain cotton to test and they were fine, but while using the Splash fabric my stitches are all over the place, kind of loopy and not formed correctly. Any suggestions?
I have a question about the bowl covers that you post to make. I have never used any of these types of covers. How do you go about cleaning these? I am going to make some for my craft items and supplies, that I have in containers. I need these types of covers, and these look like they are going to work good for covering the items. Thank You!! 🥰
Help please…I have an older Pfaff and it doesn’t have a running stitch nor does it have a reverse pattern foot. I have tried several settings of zigzag stitch length and width. I have stretched the elastic as I sew the curve and made sure the edge of the stitch is on the edge of the elastic. I cannot replicate the puckering achieved in this tutorial. Has anyone succeeded in using a standard zigzag stitch? BTW, I am using the Splash fabric used in the tutorial. Thanks in advance.
Elastic is not 100% cotton so I would not microwave. The laminated fabric may not be microwavable, either. But, these covers would be excellent to use in place of plastic wrap for storing leftovers or transporting dishes. I did hear Laura say "hand wash", though. Why is that?
The cardboard trick is so smart!
Your cardboard guide is a stroke of genius!
Best part of the video was the cardboard trick, I have been crafty with wood and fabric for 50yrs and this is such an a-ha moment for me
These would make nice gifts even for new brides. I’d like to try a long baking dish rectangle one. Thank youn
That is an ingenious way to draw around the bowl with the cardboard stencil. I would never have thought of that. Thanks so much for sharing Laura. Lee x
I agree. Any other person would have a set of plastic pieces to sell for the same job. I love Laura’s make do philosophy!

Thank you for this wonderful idea for Christmas gifts!
My grandmother had something similar to these. She called them Pantry Panties!
Sounds like something my Gram would say. ❤
😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 yup that's funny
I can’t wait to try this!! I wonder if they sell laminated fabric at Joanna’s?.
I'm excited about these! Christmas is not that far away!🎉 Thank you for this spacer idea! So clever!❤❤❤
Great video! Will definitely make these for Christmas. Thank you.
I’ve been waiting for something like this, the other beeswax covers seem just too stiff and waxy! Your cardboard template is genius.
Great tip about the cardboard piece with the hole for the pen nib. I really like practical ideas that help to eliminate garbage. Well done.
thank you so much. I looked into the splash fabric and it is great.
Looks like fun. I might need to practice attaching the elastic that way. Can't wait.
Great video. Love your idea of the cardboard guides. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the great idea Laura. 🇨🇦

Thanks! I was just looking up how to make jar covers for making vinegar and your video came at a great time!
That's a brilliant hack. You could make your own shower caps. Xx Joan
Love the cardboard template tip! Perfect!
I’m going to get fabric to make several sizes of these! They’re SO much nicer and more durable than the thin, flimsy plastic ones from the grocery store! Thanks Laura🧵🧵
Clever idea for adding width. Will try to find such fabric. Will need cover for my dough rising container.
Thank you!!! Learning how to sew at 50 ! I love it but I got lots to learn
You are amazing.you are like my mom ...she's at rest now.but we use to sew together it was fun. We had a lot of laughs it was grate u are wonderful.God bless you mom.keep going❤❤
Love the cardboard tip. Great tutorial...
I somehow didn’t share this with myself, so, after getting my supplies, I kinda had a hard time find this. Glad I did.
Thank you for sharing. That cardboard template is wonderful!
The template is genius!
Can you use the same process with regular cotton fabric? I have SO much in stash.

Thanks for this Laura; these are just what I need in my kitchen. I m now looking for the fabric!

I just ordered some of the fabric. I cannot wait to try these!
Where did you find the fabric?
@@lindawelk2222 there is a link in Laura’s video description 😁

Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for this video!
Laura thank you this video. I have a question? The fabric you used. Could it also be used for making adult bibs for the elderly.
Yes, many people use it for bibs for adults and for kids!
Absolutely brilliant!! 😘🇨🇦
So clever. So much prettier than shower caps!!!! Tfs, hugs, Chel 🌸

You just can wash them by hand with some dish soap
I’m going to make these!! Very clever!
It’s called SPLASH FABRIC? Is that correct? Thanks for another excellent educational video Laura!! You’re the best!! ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Yes it is and yes laura is the best!

Sounds great, but I need to know a hands on alternate fabric to purchase in a store. I would not need too much. Do you have any suggestions
❤Love your ideas & hacks!
Where do you get the laminated fabric
Would it be better to use them inside out so the laminated side is near the food? Not as pretty, but easier clean up?
Make it how you want it.
either way will work...
Just found you on YT, love your channel. ❤😊😊👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Does Bernini make a foot that is specifically for attaching elastic, by chance? 🤔 I will check. Love this tutorial.
Love this! Thanks!!
Where would I find this laminate fabric? All I see at Joann’s is outdoor fabric
There’s a link in the description box
Love this! Fabric is ordered. I have wanted to make these for sometime thinking about using beeswax. This is a much better option. Thank you!
That is really clever
Fantastic ❤
I don’t have a Bernina sewing machine so what foot would you recommend for attaching the elastic. Great tutorial. Now to find the laminated fabric.
I’m just going to use a zigzag with my regular foot
Is all laminated fabric food safe?
What size (width) elastic do you recommend?
What a great idea! Is this type of fabric available in Canada?
hello is this fabric also called laminated cotton?
Love it!
is splash fabric the same as PUL fabric or could you use PUL fabric?
💕🌸Cute. Thank you.🌸
Thanks for sharing this. I have a Bernina Sewing Machine, would this work with using the circle attachment?
I have not tried it so I'm not sure
Can you use Ottertex which is also a waterproof fabric but less expensive than the Splash fabric?
I have never used the fabric so I'm not sure
Where can you buy this fabric?
How about a rectangle glass bowl? What shape template works?
I’d use a straight edge, trace the four sides and then round off the corners gently.
How do you
make sa square over
Brilliant!
I need this!
so how do I sew these with a normal sewing machine?
How did you create the cardboard guide? That wasn’t clear to me.
Can you buy this in Canada Laura?
Good morning Laura
Interesting. Green!
Nice video, Laura, but I have made similar covers using the elastic foot on my serger.👍
Thanks Laura
MICROWAVEABLE??
No...the rubber in the elastic will melt
Not that I know of, however I have not tried it
Elastic is not 100% cotton so I would not microwave. The laminated fabric may not be microwavable, either. But, these covers would be excellent to use in place of plastic wrap for storing leftovers or transporting dishes. I did hear Laura say "hand wash", though. Why is that?
