Used to work in a kitchen shop, and you wouldn't believe how many people feel compelled to wear tea cozies as hats. And not just kids, either. Moral of the story: wash your tea-cozy before you use it.😣
Oh my. Yes! Thank you for the reminder. I bought a LOT of elastic right at the tail end of needing masks. Never used any of it. Now, the question is, can I find it?
I love so many things about your videos, but just want to say a quick thank you for editing your sewing time out--so that I don't have to fast forward! I have no idea why people leave all that "time" in their videos, but I appreciate that you don't.
Love the reversable idea. We can use up our seasonal fabric stash too. Valentine's on one side, Easter on the other, Thanksgiving on one side, Christmas on the other side, etc.
I made several of these in various sizes for my daughter this year for her birthday. She also bakes sour dough bread. For Christmas this year she said she wants jammie pants and t-shirts and some blouses for work. It just so happens I already have flannel and t-shirt fabric and she just sent me a box of cotton fabric from a quilt yard sale. I am now the proud owner of 17 pounds of new fabric. 🙂
Hey ladies, how do you use these for sour dough? Doesn't it rise? does it stick? I don't make it, so sorry for the questions, but my daughter-in-law does and would love to make them for her.
@@lilqueeniescraftingismypassion My daughter's birthday is in June and I made several of these for her this summer. She keeps her sour dough starter in a mason jar so I made her some covers (or what I call shower caps) to fit over the mason jar and several other covers to fit a variety of bowls. I even made one to fit over her mixing bowl so when she mixes her dough she can put the cover on for it to raise. The dough doesn't get up high enough to get to the fabric. I also bought Nikki's pattern for the Mason Jar Cozies and made her a couple of those and she puts one on her jar with the cover to keep the starter warm. She calls it the Mason Jar Jammies.
♥️♥️♥️ I’m a super beginner sewer. 69 years old and not very good but your tutorials and patterns make it so much easier to learn and complete my projects. Ty❣️
If I was there I would be giving you the biggest smooch sista! Why? Why have I never thought of a bowl cover for my darn Kitchenaid?? Oh you, you are so darn smart! ❤❤❤😂
I keep a kitchen towel over mine but still rinse with hot water before each use. I don't use it a lot, so it sits most of the year ... until November when I start making banana and Z-breads and other holiday treats.
Very cute idea!! Thanks for doing all the hard work for us. I love the idea of a mixer bowl cover. Great idea to not need so much plastic or foil wrap. This is the first video of yours that I have watched. I subscribed, so I will be notified of more.
❤ thank you for sharing your great ideas Yes, I’m going to make some of those bowl covers I’m thinking in Christmas fabrics 🎄🎄🎄🎄 I think they would be great. Going over a plate of cookies. 🍪
I made one today as a test run. I love it. I chose a fall color print for one side and Christmas print for the other side for the holidays. It turned out great thanks to you!
Thank you so much! I’m going to make these for gifts! I’m also making strings of colorful birds similar to your prosperity chickens. Oh and several teddy bears! You are my sewing teacher and I very much appreciate you Nikki! Thank you!
Just made my first one 😄 I'm aiming to make 5 sets for Christmas presents. Lovely easy little project, which is great because I tend to bite off more than I can chew when making things for Christmas.
IF I have time, I have and wear my grandmothers 1940's apron. I love it and I think other ladies in the family would love it, too, however, I might have to just draft the pattern and start to try to sew one a month starting in January. Big family and started late :D
This is exactly the video I needed. I want to make a few small ones for jars for my sourdough cover, and for my bowls! Love the idea for Christmas gifts!
I bought a remnant if Splash Fabric recently and this will be perfect for one of the fabrics! It’s eco friendly coated water resistant fabric. No plastic. And it’s washable. I see several people worried about freshness and/or odors and that would solve it. Thanks! On my way to buy your pattern now. For Christmas gifts this year I’ve already made a bunch of the coffee cozies by upcycling scrubs tops that have cute patterns, some bookmarks, fabric pen holders that go on books but I’m going to give them with journals, mason jar cozies, and now these! I use all upcycled or rescued fabrics. So fun!
Definitely will make these for my tribe & well as myself. Your ideas are always super cute & useful. I sew love your channel . Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤❤😊😊
This will be a great addition to the other things I'm making: Family Flags, and fabric shopping bags. Thanks for showing how to make these! They are such a clever, practical and pretty gift!
I made 12 of these for my show this past weekend..sold some too. Will be making more..every one loved them. Made them general on one side and some with the holiday theme on the other!!thank you for a super easy fun pattern
What a great idea for all the ACVinegar making ladies and the ladies that ferment honey and garlic for the winter season! Just how wonderful for anything that has to ferment
I am planning on making these for Christmas gifts and have been watching many videos on how to do these. Your video is the best especially the double fabric fold. Thanks now on to making many. I will sub the channel
Great tutorial! Can you do a tutorial to show us how to make a cover for a 9x13 casserole pan? Or a 9x9 pan? I tried and had so much trouble with the corners. I'd love to give covers for a 9x13 pan for Christmas, but I stopped after trying to make one.
Love this! I think this is going to be my family gift this year. Each family will get a set. Last year I made bowl cozies for each person. Love this idea! Thanks for the tutorial!
Finally!! A bowl cover pattern I won’t mind making. Thank you. Christmas gifts? I’m thinking of making matching sets of tissue cases, key chain chapstick holders, small wallets for cards (or whatever), a fold-up shopping bag, and a tote to carry them in. For the kiddos, little crayon wallets for younger ones, and pretty roll-up colored pencil carriers for the teens. For 2 babies, think I’ll make pillows w/ book pocket and carrying handle. Still thinking about the guys. Hmm. Better start soon, huh?
Nikki, I used to be a church lady, too. I was always taking large bowls or 9x13 pans with food to gatherings. Can you do covers for them? Also 8 or 9 inch square pans. Love these! ❤
I made a bunch of bowl covers for my regular bowls, I cut up the individual salads and cover them up, they look so cute on the table. I had never thought of the mixing bowls thank you for this.
Love the idea of making bowl covers especially for the Kitchen Aid. I plan on making some for Christmas along with the 9x13 hot pad with the oven mitts and maybe some jar covers. I did buy some of the cute flip tops for the canning jars. Gee I better save some ideas for next year!! LOL
I have covered glass bowls for the fridge but I never thought about putting it on my kitchenaid! I have two dogs that are german shepherd mixes and I'm always having to rewash the kitchenaid before I use it
I bought food-safe lining fabric a few months ago, but was intimidated by the patterns & videos I'd seen. Now I'm excited to start making these! Thank you!
I purchased your pattern today!! I’m really excited about making these for gifts!!!! I made your oversized hot pad and these will go great with them!!!
Yay!! I've been waiting for this pattern since you posted about it on Instagram! This is exactly what I am making my mother-in-law for Christmas this year. Last year, I made your extra-large hot pad for her and she loved it!
What a great gift idea! I have so much 1/4" elastic leftover from making masks for everyone. I'm going to try these with that before buying any more elastic. ❤
Love these! I just made a set for myself a couple of weeks ago, and I wish I had made them sooner. I plan on making them for Christmas gifts as well. I also used the free pattern from More Me Know and made the hanging car trash can. Those would make great gifts as well. Im thinking about doing a quilted version for more structure. It would also help use up orhpan blocks and scraps.
So cute. I have also wanted to make these, but didn’t want to bother with the bias tape. Your way is so much better. For Christmas, hopefully I am making dolls and purses for my granddaughters using your pattern. I haven’t made dolls or doll clothes before, but I think I can do it with your pattern and video.
I use them on my frying pans so they can stack on each other without scratching
😮😮❤❤❤❤😊
Great idea thanx
Cute! When you said “let’s try it on”, uh oh…overpowering urge to put it on my head!
🤣
Used to work in a kitchen shop, and you wouldn't believe how many people feel compelled to wear tea cozies as hats. And not just kids, either. Moral of the story: wash your tea-cozy before you use it.😣
Haha! I thought “hey! Those would make cute shower caps!!” 😂😂😂
On Melly Sews she shows how to make a waterproof proof shower cap similar to the bowl covers.
😂
Love this. Don't know about everyone else but I have tons elastic left from making facemasks during covid.
Oh my. Yes! Thank you for the reminder. I bought a LOT of elastic right at the tail end of needing masks. Never used any of it. Now, the question is, can I find it?
Yep

Cute idea!
I love this idea! Great way to use up some leftover holiday fabrics from other projects.
What a great idea for all the sourdough baking ladies
Yes! I've made several for my daughter who bakes bread and she loves them and uses them every week.
I made my own for sourdough baking a decade ago, they’re still usable.

I thought I was the only person whose “clean” bowls had to be washed before using!
♥️👍🙏🤓
Me too!
New subscriber based on this video. You are very relatable for 'regular' people. Thank you for being genuine
Welcome! 🤗
She’s the best. I foresee you watching all her great videos!
Your video gave me a great idea to make round placemets 😍
Love it 🙌🏻

Watching a number of your videos and I can’t help but love them and you as a “Real” person. Thanks for such uplifting fun videos. 😁

Love the 2 fabric method.
My sister who bakes sourdough has been begging me to make these! I’m totally going to make her some for Christmas now! Such a great tutorial!
❤ thank you for sharing your great ideas
Yes, I’m going to make some of those bowl covers
I’m thinking in Christmas fabrics 🎄🎄🎄🎄
I think they would be great. Going over a plate of cookies. 🍪
Thank you! Cute topper for the darn mixer bowl problem! So much nicer than a tea towel laying over a bowl or a fermenting jar.
What a great idea! My sister bakes bread! Yes!
Add a loaf bag to your gift! Keeps the bread nice and fresh.
READY.... SET .... BATCH SEW for Christmas... Love this... thank you....

Love this! I am going to make one out of food safe PUL for bread rising! (PUL will help keep the moisture in!)
This is exactly the video I needed. I want to make a few small ones for jars for my sourdough cover, and for my bowls! Love the idea for Christmas gifts!
That’s a wonderful idea especially for proofing a bowl of bread!
LOVE these!! Perfect Mother's Day gifts for my church ladies!!!...and the inevitable pot luck!
I bought a remnant if Splash Fabric recently and this will be perfect for one of the fabrics! It’s eco friendly coated water resistant fabric. No plastic. And it’s washable. I see several people worried about freshness and/or odors and that would solve it.

Great tip, thank you!
Oh boy I know what I'm doing today. I forgot about this. Plus they look so darn cute. Thank you
I’ve wanted to make these for ages! But sewing circles is not fun. So thank you for this!! Very helpful 😊
I do too, so now mark my sewing line/circle on the fabric and sew it before I cut the circle.
Just a suggestion. You should not use fabric softener when washing these. Food might pick up the scent.
Good point. I never use it, so I didn’t think about that!
Probably no smelly dryer sheets either! Love this project Nikki!
Unscented detergent too.
Gonna make some! Great idea😊
Definitely will make these for my tribe & well as myself. Your ideas are always super cute & useful. I sew love your channel . Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤❤😊😊

What a great idea for all the ACVinegar making ladies and the ladies that ferment honey and garlic for the winter season! Just how wonderful for anything that has to ferment
Not sure about gifts but I’ll definitely be making these for me 😊
Fast and easy. The double layer is a great idea.
I am planning on making these for Christmas gifts and have been watching many videos on how to do these. Your video is the best especially the double fabric fold. Thanks now on to making many. I will sub the channel
Great idea! I'll make some as gifts!
This sounds perfect, thank you. Just thinking about Mum tonight. I can make this soon and put it on her mixing bowl while she is out. Nice surprise.
Great tutorial! Can you do a tutorial to show us how to make a cover for a 9x13 casserole pan? Or a 9x9 pan? I tried and had so much trouble with the corners. I'd love to give covers for a 9x13 pan for Christmas, but I stopped after trying to make one.
Yes, I will get on that soon!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it@@PinCutSew
Ooh, yes please!

Excellent idea! Thank you !❤
I am making one for my friend’s kitchen aide bowl👍
Great idea and much simpler construction than others I have seen Thanks!
That would make great Mother's Day gifts for the women at my church. Thx...how fun.
These are so awesome. And look so fast and unfussy to make. Thanks Nikki
Love this! I think this is going to be my family gift this year. Each family will get a set. Last year I made bowl cozies for each person. Love this idea! Thanks for the tutorial!

Love this! I’m planning to see your oversized hot pads but I think I may make some of these too. Such a quick, easy project.
Love the practicality of this one! Could you do a bowl cozy next? I think that would be perfect since we’re going into soup season! ♥️
I love love this idea!!!! I also have church dinners every month and Bible study too. What a great idea. Thanks
Definitely getting your pattern. So much easier and you figured out the best way to make. I tried the other way and I gave up. Thank you
I LOVE this! It's great at 2x playback speed!😁❤️
Love the covers and the great tutorial!
Question-where did you get your pattern weights?
They look perfect for small projects.
Thanks
Nikki, I used to be a church lady, too. I was always taking large bowls or 9x13 pans with food to gatherings. Can you do covers for them? Also 8 or 9 inch square pans. Love these! ❤
I may make bowl covers now but I plan to make book marks and tea towels from an upcycled linen duvet cover.
Love these. Will be buying your pattern when I’m ready. You deserve a fee for the great ‘easy’ elastic and double sided way of doing it.
OMG!! Thank you so much for this tutorial. You make everything so easy!! TFS! 💕🌴😎
I made a bunch of bowl covers for my regular bowls, I cut up the individual salads and cover them up, they look so cute on the table. I had never thought of the mixing bowls thank you for this.

I love your channel! I wonder how it would do if you soaked the finished cover in bees wax, so it would be more resistant to leakage? Love your ideas!
Awesome! Love that they’re reversible too! I’ll be making those! Really great gift idea.
Thank you for the cute idea! I'm making the dish towel that you can wear and bowl cozies for microwaving or icecream that go under the bowls.
Fabulous 🎉 I love this . And yes it would be fun to give for Christmas gifts. And I will be making this. Thank you !
I have covered glass bowls for the fridge but I never thought about putting it on my kitchenaid! I have two dogs that are german shepherd mixes and I'm always having to rewash the kitchenaid before I use it
Great idea! I have some themed fabric left over from last year’s bowl cozies. Should make some nice matching covers!
I like these, I need to use latex free elastic and this pattern solves many problems for me. Thanks!
I bought food-safe lining fabric a few months ago, but was intimidated by the patterns & videos I'd seen. Now I'm excited to start making these! Thank you!
Love this! Definitely will make for Christmas. Thanks.
Great idea. I’ll definitely have a go. Thanks!
Nikki, I love your enthusiasm. You are a smile in my heart.❤. Great idea and so practical. A gift that can be used year round.
🎶💐💖🫂
What a great idea - I'm going to share it with my quilt group here in the UK. Thank you so much. Diana. xx
Thank you, I was wondering what to make everyone. Last year it was table runners, this is easier! I love your videos! Thank you!
how cute!! I might do this for my family gifts this year!
Will definitely make these. Good simple video. I Iove that you did not use a serger. Thanks so much.
These would be great for people who make a lot of sourdough or fermented things!!!
Love the idea! Made soup cozies last year! Bowl covers in my future!! And a great use of fabrics!

This is perfect because I’ve been wanting to make a cover exactly like this for my Kitchen-aid❤
Love these! I just made a set for myself a couple of weeks ago, and I wish I had made them sooner. I plan on making them for Christmas gifts as well. I have made a ton of these and absolutely love them.
So cute. I have also wanted to make these, but didn’t want to bother with the bias tape. Your way is so much better.
For Christmas, hopefully I am making dolls and purses for my granddaughters using your pattern. I haven’t made dolls or doll clothes before, but I think I can do it with your pattern and video.

I made waist aprons for my girlfriends using vintage tablecloths. I can't wait to gift them!!
They’re going to love them 🫶🏻
