It had been cool if Meta could use the scanned room, for now it can auto detect things and it had been neat to let some windows snap to Windows, doors or outlined art.
dont think the hardware can handle that right now. it takes a lot of processing to understand the surroundings in such a way that it knows where in space everything is, so that things stay static is very hard to develop. you can clearly feel now that the window management has no clue of the meaning of space. it just doesnt align with the rules of spaciality right now, and that might be because the processing power does not yet exist. apple made their own chips to do that.

My Quest 3 was working fine earlier in the day and I put it down without shutting it down for several hours. When I came to wake it back up it had to be factory reset to get it to boot - despite being in the PTC, I haven't had any issues till now. On the plus side, after the faff of reinstalling everything, it at least had V67 on it. It is nice being able to move the windows around now, goes nicely with the recent update to Virtual Desktop allowing 3 monitors. So, some progress towards 'spatial computing'. I was really looking forward to the MR anchor ability at launch, so I hope the redesign of that is good and doesn't take too long
Also when I'm trying again, the device disconnects... I'm making sure that I'm moving the headset so that it does not enter sleep mode. The divice just simply disconnects when reaching around 50% mark.

I hope other people will be able to come into your space soon like apple’s personas. It would be fine if it’s their avatar, and not a fully real looking replication. I just want to share more experiences.
@@SeanXtopher Not to mention that the Spatial app is crazy laggy for the most part. And interacting with windows is so responsive at times that you're left wondering if it broke or not. I love the idea of it, but the actual execution leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm not sure what makes this update special. But one thing I discovered recently was being able to read 3d movies off a jump drive within Skybox VR. That's my favorite update I have experienced yet.
It’s a bit embarrassing Meta did not have the foresight to allow for undockable floating windows from the beginning. It is also admirable that they have been able to implement it this fast. Thanks Tim Apple, I guess.
One of the biggest mistakes of the Meta Quest OS: You can not delete Apps! You can also not arrange the apps in some ways. it drives me nuts that you can not delete apps. I have an app-chaos because of that shit. I don't want to use the headset anymore due to this design mistake.
As someone who has both, I can tell you with confidence, Quest still feels like cheaper imitation with these features. The only thing it has over AVP is gaming which is what it was built for and not what AVP was meant to be. AVP way more seamless and convenient. The only saving grace for Meta is most people can’t afford to shell out $4k
Pretty upset I updated to this version through the headset and it bricked onto a recovery boot loop after it restarted. App wouldn’t detect it as well as usb-c no longer allowed it to charge. Even factory resetting or side loading the update through the recovery boot menu wouldn’t work, BUT on the bright side Meta declared it dead and shipped out a replacement. Excited to test these new features, keep up the high quality videos!
Now they just need to natively enable installing Android apps. Being able to have 6 Android apps open would be incredibly useful for productivity. I tried doing some programming using the Quest 3 and Steam Link with the Virtual Desktop app on SteamVR and it worked quite well. Being able to do the same natively on the Quest without the need for a PC would be great for travel.
Great video and helpful information. If I may though, when you’re sharing your headset, maybe try to reduce your movement? I got really nauseous trying to keep up with your sporadic and spontaneous movement while you were trying to show the updated things.
So funny to see how Meta now moves on OS modifications when they are not the reference anymore! Now people can see how bad the vision of HorizonOS is compared to a better thought operating system. No, metaverse is not the killer feature of XR, Oculus was on a better tech track to implement such an innovation compared to a multi billion dollar company.
Can you stop moving your head when you're talking? Tech demos that have excessive movement do not get as many views and you're barely explaining aspects in terms of user experience
It drives me nuts that they don't provide a full keyboard. They have unlimited virtual space. Why not give me all the punctuation and number pad without making me hunt through menus? It makes no sense.
Your passthrough looks so much better than mine. The camera is just very noisy and it didn't seem to be lighting related since it's the same whether my lights are dimmed, or turned all the way up.
The only thing we need is a fresher quality passtrough now. we know they can make it less grainier by the quality of videos taken with the camera just need a bit of rework
This is good for the MedQuest, but the Vision Pro does all these things already impeccably it’s I can’t bring myself to have to compromise. That’s all in the display quality. It’s just a different universe.
These kinds of UX/UI features are a nice bonus, but they aren't the reason anyone is buying a Meta Quest device. I think anyone hoping for Quest 3 to compete with AVP in terms of fidelity is just looking at the entire situation wrong. They aren't really direct competitors (for now) because they aren't targeting the same market segment, imo. AVP is cool. I've had the chance to play with a friend's headset a bit and it is impressive in many ways. But, they aren't trying to integrate PCVR into their ecosystem, and they don't really seem to be interested in having the device be a serious gaming platform. At the end of the day, high specs aren't useful without a robust software ecosystem to run on that hardware. Apple is pretty early on in their entry into the space, though, so who knows what they'll be doing in the future. But I think if they keep their price point where it is, it's going to discourage developers from making games/software specifically for that device, since the amount of copies they sell will be significantly lower than for Quest devices, which have sold tens of millions.
honestly that passthrough limitation on the video sounds like something that's gonna get immediately patched really soon. and they just didnt have the time to do it right away.
I wish they'd release a separate os updates for pc users to only stream from pc. Im aware that's not exactly what this device is for but its the best one for wireless 😂
I tried meta-quest a few days ago and got fully nauseous, even after taking the headset off.🤢 Certainly hope Apple vision pro doesn’t cause motion sickness 🤷🏾
I couldn't care less about all these new quality of life features, which I don't need. I need better games. Yes, we can all say that Batman and Alien are on the horizon, but come on - we are still stuck in shovelware limbo, most of the time.
quest 2 fault, let them move the player base. these features maybe are not so important to you but quest headsets are most used for fitness, social apps, xr and then gaming. i bought mine for gaming only i ended up using it always in ar and never played a game in the first month
As mentioned, everyone is catering to the most sold device being Quest 2…. Its like when AAA titles are focused on console hardware and optimization with bottom dog poop port to PC platform… so until Quest 2 stops getting support we wont leave this poophole. Quest 3 lite is coming october/November 😢. So from 2025 we should see a brighter future but theres also GTA 6 coming out then without VR support 😭😭😭😭 ill still try it tho.
They need to make a Quest 3 OLED. I don’t care if it’s $200 more expensive or even $400 more expensive, OLED is absolutely necessary. The Quest 3 does not come close to matching the original Quest in terms of colors and contrast. No OLED headsets on the market makes the PSVR2 look more inviting by the day…

It’s a bit embarrassing Meta did not have the foresight to allow for undockable floating windows from the beginning. It is also admirable that they have been able to implement it this fast. Thanks Tim Apple, I guess.
Okay, now make it where it can connect to my windows pc flawlessly
And still I can't organize my apps😒
I dont like 2d windows I’d recommend for working
One of the biggest mistakes of the Meta Quest OS: You can not delete Apps! You can also not arrange the apps in some ways. it drives me nuts that you can not delete apps. I have an app-chaos because of that shit. I don't want to use the headset anymore due to this design mistake.
meta is giving a new purpose to the quest 3 and definitely tapping in to the vision pro market. am impressed!
If they only had higher resolution and eye tracking as well…
As someone who has both, I can tell you with confidence, Quest still feels like cheaper imitation with these features. The only thing it has over AVP is gaming which is what it was built for and not what AVP was meant to be. AVP way more seamless and convenient. The only saving grace for Meta is most people can’t afford to shell out $4k
So does this mean we don’t need a pc to play pc vr ?
You move your head a lot while showing VR screen. It's very hard to watch your video because of this.
He's actually keeping his head rather still and steady. It's vr content, what else do you expect?
Let's all thank Apple for pushing Meta.
True
As someone who tried the HoloLens YEARS ago yes Meta is really changing everything. I just demoed the Vision Pro and I was throughly disappointed
It is hard to watch as view is so shaky...
imagine v68 -
2d apps can now overlay in immersive and augmented experiences if enabled.
(if that was real, what would happen next)
Can you stop moving your head when you're talking? Tech demos that have excessive movement do not get as many views and you're barely explaining aspects in terms of user experience
It drives me nuts that they don't provide a full keyboard. They have unlimited virtual space. Why not give me all the punctuation and number pad without making me hunt through menus? It makes no sense.
Does Netflix work in the quest browser in v67. I have v66 and despite what they claimed Netflix still wont play in the quest browser.
Haven't used it since a couple years after it came out by the Rift CV1 had all this same window tiling and docking.
Your passthrough looks so much better than mine. The camera is just very noisy and it didn't seem to be lighting related since it's the same whether my lights are dimmed, or turned all the way up.
is there any word on a v66 update for quest 2?
Both my Quest 2 and 3 are on V66. It did take about a week longer for the Quest 2 so it should be any day now for you.
V66 is now also on q2
@@Paulie8K Thank you I just checked and I must have gotten it super recently.
It focuses on software because it has become like Google Android, which gives software to companies to use for both games and app.
yeah but problem is it worked perfectly until some point and i never changed anything and I am living far from other ppl
Paying 7 times the price tho
I'm still waiting for the AZERTY layout support for french typers
i wish virtual desktop would work in the quest browser.. and in home environment, would love to watch a movie in there
honestly that passthrough limitation on the video sounds like something that's gonna get immediately patched really soon. and they just didnt have the time to do it right away.
I wish they'd release a separate os updates for pc users to only stream from pc. Im aware that's not exactly what this device is for but its the best one for wireless 😂
Thank you for sharing. I wonder if the Virtual PC app feature will be part of the upgrade.
I tried meta-quest a few days ago and got fully nauseous, even after taking the headset off.🤢
Certainly hope Apple vision pro doesn’t cause motion sickness 🤷🏾
@@Tonabillity vision pro is actually worse for motion sickness for me
@@Tyrielwood Then I definitely won’t be getting that OR Meta Quest! 🤮
I guess VR is not for me
We need an ability to share screens in vision os so people can watch movies together and share browser screen without shotty 3rd party apps
I'd like to see a reset button and the thumbsticks used to move the screens closer or further away.
Is it possible to copy/paste text or other stuff between applications? Can we open several independent windows to the same app?
i just need the persona things
I am gonna thank Apple Vision Pro for giving me the better quest 🤣
Will it fix the tracking issues that I know a couple of people have been having
Would be nice to get the dam update?! Still on v66 and nothing available..
We need to be able to send the art you make to your pc to print it, or print straight from the quest.
??????? I don’t feel this way there’s a lot off good games on the system already.
We have tons of great games and also a lot at the horizon, even with free time i still haven’t played all the games i would like to, damn
Lack of games got me into sim racing and flight sims if you have a pc :p
Lots of options and it’s soonimerssive
No OLED headsets on the market makes the PSVR2 look more inviting by the day…
For real....I'm thinking to just get Pro for now and at least have QLED with local dimming. Plain LCDs are eh....
yes but the external vision is pure fatigue for eyes so who cares?
isn't everyone lucky enough to test this beta?
Is there a dump for this version yet so we can manually update if its not out for us yet?
Let's see if they manage to unbreak oculus link this time.
Hey Ty, I like your environment. Which one is this...?
I wish they'd revamp quest home on PC.
Does this update allow a browser to stay floating while running a game for example? Would love to watch TH-cam while playing golf+
Unfortunately I wasn't able to, when in an immersive experience is was rolling back to the old tablet mode
have they improved being able to set the keyboard language on bluetooth keyboards ?
still no window anchoring :/ thanks facebook
Does Airlink work with teh Quest 3? So sick of the issues with Quest 2. Makes me very nervous about getting another Meta product.
Airlink is my main method of using steam vr, I've found no issues with it personally - 200mbps bitrate
Nice vid. What is the mountain environment you are using. looks so much better than the standard ones
Meta needs to improve media consumption not having the streaming apps with full 4k quality by now is terrible
And go OLED and HDR please so those movies look awesome
I just want GTA SA
Rather than copying apple, it feels like we're finally getting a continuation of what they were doing with the Rift CV1.
@@LARVideos the cv1 software was so ahead... Such a shame
I want to be able to cast my iPhone screen to the Quest.
I know it may be bad to ask here but I had a weird bug with wifi for a quite a bit, wifi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting on one minute, every minute it disconnectes and reconnects immediately idk what it is tho
Place your WiFi router physically higher. Also, power cycling WiFi router will normally cause it to find a new channel to broadcast on in case neighbors recently added a router nearby.
