Ahh my favorite Star Wars LEGO that I never got!! The only reason that made me stop believing in Santa. In 2006 I asked “Santa” for the clone turbo tank.. didn’t get it... In 2007 I asked “Santa” again for it didn’t get again... I gave up and stopped asking, mom said that Santa told her it was too expensive. I replied with “Santa doesn’t have any money?? He makes these!!” My mom was dumbfounded, and stutter. Here I realized the obvious that Santa was my Mom, thee entire time...
Try buying it second hand it may not be like how it was but if it’s your favourite set and you bought it second hand and it’s missing pieces try to rebuild it with pieces you have laying around
This was the one dream set I never got as well. Luckily I just found someone selling one for around the original price so there's definitely hope for you
The only issue I have with the original two models is the lack of the infamous side rockets which drew everyone's interest in the RotS movie. A short scen, but a glorious moment.
The 2016 model is the smallest but the best, because it has nearly everything that the clone turbo tank has in the movie. It has the most detail, it has side rocket and grenade launchers unlike the other two which is cool that fire, and it has the best periscope. You can also still fit a lot of things inside the main compartment although being the smallest. It is in general, the most compact out of the three.
3:55 I think it's a little finicky because you're missing a dark grey technic bar with 7 holes that goes across and connects the 2 grey technic pins on both sides
NITO 96 They're focusing less on accuracy and more on playability, which translates to tight and compact, the UCS Sets though are generally rather nice looking and have some bulk to them
NITO 96 I think you got part of it right..but also as elements get older their patents become available so lego is constantly forced to invent newer parts to keep the sets from being bootlegged by expiring patents... also sets over the years have become way more detailed with greebling and are now built with a base of a lot of technic elements and pins... all these add up the piece count... so to keep things cheaper they are forced to sacrifice these big flimsy sets for smaller more detailed playable and compact sets that are way stronger.
Kids want to play, shoot and put clone troopers in these sets. They dont care if it looks accurate or big. The Sets have to be stable and they have to offer fun for kids. Thats why lego made the sets smaller with more pieces (compared to the size) and features like useable guns.

iTz_Merp yes but they should have made the 2016 one 85 or 90 dollars because it is just so undersized that it should not be 10 dollars less than the 2010 one where it is so much bigger and has a lot more to it

I have the 2016 model, too, and love it. Yes, I wish it was large like the 2010 version, but it makes much better use of it's space and has a lot more playability. MandR is exaggerating about the side mounted shooters. No one in their right mind stores spring-loaded shooters in the firing mechanism, it can weaken the spring. I think Lego's next remake will be larger and have some room for troops (and hopefully come with more clones than the 2016 version).
I own both the newer one and the 2010 one and honestly the 2010 (with some interior modifications) is an absolute beast I like the new one but the 2010 one is just superior in figures, value for money, appearance and size It’s the only set i still own from before 2014 (from about 2008-2013 i had a lego purge and smashed all my sets 😭) And i remember when i was a kid rolling this thing around the rocky terrain of my backyard, and for a long time it was pretty damaged But i’ve restored it and even upgraded it recently, absolutely great set from LSW’s golden age
Niklas Tuber I would take anything but I would rather have the 2010 one or 2016 one personally I think the 2005 one looks ugly like the bottom part of it has brown and it looks not so well made it should’ve been made with technic LEGO not with brick LEGO but hey that’s what they had in 2005 and then in 2010 it’s good but the 2016 one looks best but the 2010 is big and has better figs the 2016 one has good ones but 2010 has better ones
I’ve never had one but I do have the Hasbro 3.75” one for action figures. The turbo tank is one of my favorite vehicles in Star Wars perhaps only behind the gunship. I’m leaning towards the new one only because it’s seems to be the most accurate to RotS and the mini figures are too. That’s what I want. I know it’ll probably look small in person, but hey that saves shelf space 🤷🏻♂️
Unfortunately when he says "you can get the 2005 one for less than..." If you can find a 2005 or 2010 set for less than the 2016 set now, I'll eat my hand
Awesome video:) I got the 2016 turbo tank for 80 dollars at target for Black Friday. I am very happy with what I purchased and definitely feels like an 80 dollar set like the tie striker is 70 dollars and feels like your getting 40 or 50 and the turbo tank that I got was a bargain I got 9 cents for a piece and the regular is 10 cents per piece:)
I like the quality of the 2008 model, Minifigures of the 2005 model and the design from all three. They all have something that I like about the design. I as many others it seems, don't like how they go down in size in the newer products, but what I have a problem with the most is the Minifigures. I just don't like that in a big set like that they include one or more "main" characters or unique ones like a specific Jedi or clone commander or captain. And then one or max two clones and some type of droids. I like how the older sets, for example, the 2002 Republic Gunship. It has 4 phase 1 Clone Troopers, 2 unique super battle droids, one Jedi Knight (so just a random Jedi so you won't get more of one specific Jedi if you want to buy the set more than ones) and a Destroyer Droid. That's how I would like sets to be nowadays. Like sure I want sets with the specific Jedis, Sith and Clone Generals, Captains and Commanders, but not in every big and medium Set. I want many Clones and droids to build an epic army. Idk maybe it's just me, but that's my opinion... *Exhales* *Inhales*
Thing is, the 2016 version is not only small for a turbo tank, it is freaking TINY for a vehicle. It may have more detail and figures but for me the 2010 is better. It has the middle ground between the two
The missile launcher are kind of accurate. In the revenge of the sith, as the turbo tank is driving, its firing missiles out if the side like the 2016 model.
My faveorite turbo tank is the 2016 one It has great figures, the most playability and it accurate to the ROTS model of the juggernaut tank (turbo tank).
I agree with you but the 2016 model is a better build even if it's smaller. the 2010 model is a combination of the 2005 model and 2016 model because it has a great build and it is pretty large and has a decent amount of stuff with it
lego from 2006-2013 was the great years of lego the gunship the turbo tank and the at-te are all the best out of the 3 that were made and they were actully good unlike the newer much smaller sets
I feel he was complaining about the 2016 model way to much. He was just mad at it for no reason. It is more detailed and better thought out but since it was smaller he gave it so much grief
I got the 2010 model for christmas a couple years ago. The characters and the ATRT were pretty great! Unfortunately there was an exclusive joint piece not put into my box so I could not finish the set.
I got a huge tub of used legos from goodwill back in 2019, but just opened it up yesterday to sort through the pieces and I found a bunch of those grey wheels, were they used in any other sets in that color? I’m talking about the 2005 one btw (:
So any thoughts on when they will bring out another version? hopefully a bit larger again and perhaps they can design the front windows properly with out the tacky clear pieces stuck on to simulate a window
I know I this is somewhat of a minor point and kind of a late comment, but I'd just like to point out that (in terms of the US economy), there was around 15% inflation in prices between 2005-2010, and around another 15% from 2010-2016 (usually prices inflate 3% per year iirc, but I think that sounds kind of high now that I think about it). Basically, something in 2005 that costed $90 will cost around $105 in terms of 2010 prices, and around $120 in 2016 (these are vague estimations). Inflation is generally a good thing to consider when comparing Lego sets from distant years. I may be (probably) wrong about the exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure the general idea is correct, or maybe I'm just going crazy, in which case I could be completely wrong. :p
I was able to get the 2005 model of this vehicle and I love it. I have a few of my 501st clones in it and I love how they look. I just need a LAAT and Captain Rex and I will be happed
Amazing video comparison! So let me get this straight, you can't even load troops in the middle compartment on the 2016 model? And on top of that, its the smallest of them all? Well, I guess I'll be purchasing the 2010 model.
I hate the spring shooters because I lose all the missiles, and they cannot replace the flick fire missile's nostalgic style. I remember just flicking out missiles at clones all day.
I got this set for my Birthday, and what I'm probably gonna do with it is build it using one of the OLDER instruction booklets. Of course, I might need more parts than what the box gave me, But I'll do my best to manage. :)
you have to adjust for inflation the 2005/6 and 2016 models have the same price adjusted for inflation however the 2011 model adjusted for inflation is about 180-200 dollars which is too expensive

It's not Commander Cody, it's a 327th Star Corp trooper (Commander Bly's Battalion).
Technically it was commander Cody back in 2005- 2006 and it wasn't until the 2007 battle pack where they reused the figure as a 327 Star Cops trooper.
+Lego Bricks Productions He is saying commander bly's legion not cody's
+EpicTrickShotBros * battalion
Actually it's captain Rex you idiots
Commander Thorn no it’s Wolfie
I have two of the 2010 model and two of the 2016 model. I can see some advantages that both sets have (beside size).
2010 Advantages: Rear turret looks better, especially since a model can sit in it. The carrying handle bar is way more secure with less give. The mid turret looks nice and can function as a secondary weapon. Lastly, the grenade launchers, and over all look from the sides are better.
2016 Advantages: Right off the bat, the look out tower and the mid turret/weapon are great. The front guns are smaller, but it does seem to fit the vehicle better. The headlights and topside look better than the 2010 (2010 has a lot of empty space on it). The handle bar looks way nicer. The addition of the side missile provides a bit more fire power.
I would say that both could exist, with one being the heavier assault version while the other was a recon, spotter, and scout. For the older and bigger one, put an artillery piece on it (I like the AT-TE piece) to act as a fire support element. The smaller could use an updated look out post/surveillance look, but as is it ain't bad.
I love the 2016 one, it gets a lot of criticism that I don’t think it deserves. I also have a lot of nostalgia and it’s very easy to modify and make better.
You can just remove the spring loaded shooters, put a plate on the main interior for troops and modify the cannons at the back. Easy.
The 2005 Commander Cody is actually Commander Bly
Nichole Reynolds No. It doesn't have his visor or pauldron. Plus it's just a star corps trooper.
Lord Owl You are also forgeting that Bly has different marks on his helmet
Bly has a brighter yellow color
He is from blys battalion but he is certainly not cody cody dosent have a pauldron hes orange not yellow hes more bly than cody.

This deserves a Masterpiece Set. They have yet to do the HAV A6 Juggernaut justice
I have the 2010 model. My friend had the 2005 one and I couldn't wait to get the 2010 one.
I feel he was complaining about the 2016 model way to much. He was just mad at it for no reason. It is more detailed and better thought out but since it was smaller he gave it so much grief
Yeah cause it's freaking small. Damn thing should be huge!
I got the 2010 model for christmas a couple years ago. The characters and the ATRT were pretty great! Unfortunately there was an exclusive joint piece not put into my box so I could not finish the set.
Dang that sucks
poutine mccoy Have you tried bricklink to look for the piece? Surely someone will have it.
poutine mccoy
Did you get it sealed in the original packaging or was it preowned?
I begged for the 2010 for my birthday when I was like 10 and actually getting is one of my favorite memories
I got the 2016 model for my birthday last year and it is my favourite lego star wars item that I own.
When I was five I thought the channel name was Man dr productions
For a long time I thought it was mand are Productions
Lord of Star Wars I always thought it was Mand Reproductions
I had the 2010 model but took it apart. I want to try and rebuild it in the future-
Best song for intro
I got a huge tub of used legos from goodwill back in 2019, but just opened it up yesterday to sort through the pieces and I found a bunch of those grey wheels, were they used in any other sets in that color? I’m talking about the 2005 one btw (:
I think I might get this latest model considering I have not gotten a previous version
THATS how you use flickfire missiles? My WHOLE life since I was 4 and started collecting LEGOs I thought you just pushed them out!
So any thoughts on when they will bring out another version? hopefully a bit larger again and perhaps they can design the front windows properly with out the tacky clear pieces stuck on to simulate a window
Thanks! I'll probably buy the 2010 model
My favorite is still the 2005 version. I like the colors and wheels better. It looks like a true Republic vehicle
that old intro is epic
Best one is Clone Wars one that is why ı only have that one;)
I got the 2016 model on sale for $30 dollars off
i found 2010 model for 45 on ebay great lego
Good deal
Though 2010 is better
I always wanted the 2005, would spin it around with the 360 view for hours
They really need to do a 4th rebuild of this featuring the Rogue One elements as a prisoner transport.
The 2005 model is a classic, I have it. It's in my opinion the better of the 3 because it's got nice features and the minifigures are very rare.
Loool
I always thought that the frontside is the backside for almost 10 years now😂😂😂
Man I have the 2016 model and I had no idea that it was so small compared to the 2005 but the 2016 has good clone troopers
I got the 1st model, so glad I still have it.
TangoProductions you can put a plane Lego piece in the middle
I hate the spring shooters because I lose all the missiles, and they cannot replace the flick fire missile's nostalgic style. I remember just flicking out missiles at clones all day.
I have the 2005, but the 2010 is badass looking!
I got this set for my Birthday, and what I'm probably gonna do with it is build it using one of the OLDER instruction booklets. Of course, I might need more parts than what the box gave me, But I'll do my best to manage. :)
So I definitely should get the 2010 set.
Just checked this out cos i found my 2008 in the attic with few missing peices im gonna fix it up :D
the next in the line of comparisons should be the three main republic gunships
2005 model was the one I first got. I find it the best one to modify due to all the empty space inside.
I like the prequels the most, and I love the kashykk battle scene. So I'll be getting the 2016 version
2005 has a good starting basis for the next two. 2010 was more of a collectors set. 2016 is playable and can work as a display.
I bought the set 75151 just because of Quinlan Vos minifigure.
Maybe do one of every tie fighter model?
I get that problem with the spring loaded shooters on the 2016 one a lot.
you have to adjust for inflation the 2005/6 and 2016 models have the same price adjusted for inflation however the 2011 model adjusted for inflation is about 180-200 dollars which is too expensive
on the 2016 model if the spring fire missiles annoy you you can just take them out.
The position of the repeating laser batteries on the sides of your 2005 model have mildly triggered the nerd half of my brain...
