Check MSI GF63 Prices: geni.us/yeNfRTk Check current gaming laptop sales at gaminglaptop.deals 0:38 I've got an update on this with the MSI GF63. MSI advised me that this can happen if the rear corner screw is not in. After checking my laptop, the screw was in and it appeared to be all the way, however it was about one full 360 degree rotation from being tight. After tightening the screw, this no longer happens. Although it does not pop up during normal circumstances, this still shows there's quite a bit of force on the plastic, so I'm still not too confident in how that will go long term - but it is not as bad as I am showing here normally.
Hey Jarrod any news on legion 7 amd advantage edition I am looking forward to buy Earlier i was going for Intel + nvidia but noticed several issues with it on my friend's laptop like battery and heating on palm rest
I bought the 1650 GF63 for $543 including tax. I’ve never had the panel popping out problem and after using for about 8 months, the screen can be lifted with one hand. I’ve been using this laptop mainly for school, and the battery life can last me the whole school day on a full charge. It gets the job done in my opinion, and it’s really good for light gaming here and there. To me, this laptop is worth since I preferred a system capable of doing schoolwork while at the same time capable of portable gaming.
Yep i got it for gaming in home i regret i told my parents to buy my pc but no one listened now when i play havier game like gta 5 it sounds like its about to fly in to the space but still for raid shadow legends it works ok for gta 5 i recomend spending 200dollars on top for rtx and core i7 or ryzen 7
Thinking about getting this laptop for $600 for the exact same reason. I have a desktop but want a portable laptop for schoolwork/gaming on trips. Still holds up?
I think this laptop is fairly good for this budget, especially for casual gamers and students. We should look at the long-term reviews of the others(which is evident in the comments) before judging it with the experience of a single person (who could be prone to biases due to the availability of devices with much higher specs ). I mean so many others are saying that it has served them well. Also, it is possible that the popping of the chassis is the problem with some individual units because the others are not facing it. And i5 11400H with RTX graphics in a thin and light laptop is not bad for this price
You don't understand, this was made intentionally for extra cooling. You just need to quicky close and open the lid, when internals get hot. This is genius!
I've had a GF63 8RD with 1050ti for 2 years. I have to say it served me very well! It was incredibly light and it never got too loud when gaming. Honestly for the price it was a steal. My only issue was that it's ugly. Still as a budget option it's fantastic
Same here, I got the GF63 but with a 1060 back in 2018 for $800. I used it from high school to college. Then I upgraded to a Razer laptop a year ago. But until that point it had served me very well, hell if I charge it up now it probably still rocking. I'm suprised they kept the same design for 5 years lol. Fantastic budget/starter gaming laptop.
I'm still using my Lenovo Legion 5 Y530 with a 1050ti that he reviewed years ago and I bought years ago based on his review -- got it for $850 at BestBuy in NYC -- there is NO WAY I'd spend $1500 or more on a laptop -- even $1000 is a little too much - the Y530 is still working great after 3 years
Its nice to see some users of this laptop shared their experience here in comment section. Hopefully msi will give this series some updates next year especially for the build quality and that hinge.
There are a lot of adults and kids that would love to have this laptop. I know we get spoiled by either using higher end or watching videos about higher end products, but this isn’t crap for the casual gamer or individual on a budget that doesn’t mind low to medium settings.
I have this laptop and after hearing many downsides, I have to say I was stunned how good it is and 7 months later still can't find downside to it. He says when you connect to external monitor it uses integrated GPU and that is not true. I use external monitor all the time and it uses RTX 3050 without problems. This is a beast of laptop and was worth every penny!
Price to performance is very good. It does feel a bit cheap and the screen is poo poo. I have an old lenovo monitor I use and it's fine. Other 3050 options cost atleast 100$ more in my country And unless I get the high TDP ones the frame difference are so less between 40 watt and 60 watt.
ill be honest the 3050 rtx isnt bad even though i dont personally recommend it the 1650 will be a rubbish card without DLSS or any of the new features that RTX has to offer plus the 1650 just isnt a good card
To be fair, for budget/entry level notebooks, medium settings for gameplay is the way to go for tests. For all intents and purposes it’s not meant for high end gaming. So that in mind, it’s a good enough choice I’d say
@@vinnydarrc3953 I got legion 5i pro, i7-12700, 3070 2022, small stutters here and there which gets resolved quickly. I’m guessing bc when I play with settings sometimes it doesn’t like. Max Temps at performance mode GPU 80-82C, CPU got to 45-54 as far as I’ve noticed. For reference Warzone reaches 120-140 fps high settings. However fps is inconsistent. Sometimes there’s tear and fps drops to 80 and freezes for a second. Altho I have to upgrade my wifi router at home, so it could all be caused by that. Bc I played Watchdog 2 for a few hours offline, everything was smooth. I’m trying to bring temperatures down, even though I think these are safe temperatures, I feel uncomfortable playing more than an hour at a time. I keep room temp around 20-22 and have raised it from the back. still I get 78-79 at best.
The big price jump between the $500 GTX1650 and the $750 RTX3050 Spec is the screen, the cheapest GF63 uses 60hz screen not 144hz (also 256GB SSD instead of 512GB SSD)
I have this laptop but in i7 11th gen gtx1650mq.. I bought it because it's the only laptop that i can afford at the time and it's been 7 months .. i say it's worth my money and I can run every game I want to play.. and i'm happy with it..
As someone who plays single-player games locked to 30 FPS at 720p (on Medium to High settings) this laptop was perfect for me. It's been a year since I bought it and it hasn't given me too many problems (however, when I tried to upgrade the RAM recently the back panel was certainly hard to get off. Took me a whole morning to do it and I was so scared that I had broken it!) I think its main target should be more casual PC gamers with little money who just want a good-enough experience that is comparable to an Xbox One/PS4, but want the extra portability and customization options that the consoles lack.
Gf63 thin served me very well from my freshman years to post graduation life while even handling heavy games like cyberpunk, albeit at low to medium settings without the 60fps dropping. The thin structure makes it easier to fit in normal bags while retaining its strong gaming features.
I've had a GF63-8RD (8750H, 1050 Ti, 8gb ram) for a few years now, got it super cheap open-box on Newegg. It served me very well in grad school! I was doing a lot of multithreaded programming and needed the cheapest thing that still had a flagship CPU, but also some sort of ded. card for occasional gaming on the go. It was perfect for me! I did upgrade ram, wifi, and storage. But those costs were over time, and a bit easier to afford for that reason. Still runs great : )
I had one as well. It wasn't that bad. Others are too caught up on the single fan but in my experience, it was good enough for playing 1080p at mid settings on a GTX 1650Ti Max Q GPU even on long gaming.
I really liked that how you compared both laptop because there is gtx1650 and rtx 3050 ...it will help people to understand which GPU they should buy...
@@theairaccumulator7144 Actually I have bought laptop for myself last year...but this review is helpful for those who can't afford to increase their budget
@@theairaccumulator7144 it's not much better in the price segment. Compromises everywhere. The hp is a good one at the sub 650$ market. But yeah your getting a 5500m no 3050 for that.
Man Im using this msi 63 i5 10500H , 256GB NVME SSD + 1TB HDD , 1650max q for more than a year now, Its my 1st gaming laptop and It served me everything as perspective of gamer and price, like the battery is not that good it will only last long for only 2hr in normal use but as gaming while charger plugged in it stayed for 3-4 days running and nothing happened , Like playing game all day then editing videos and full walkthorughs uploading all night on yt and nothing goes wrong ,it give performance little bit less 10% from 1650 used in other laptop but difference is negligible in real life usage if you are moving from low end hardware like I was using Lenovo thinkapad i5 1st gen 2core 4 thread processor And it was like Level 10 to level 100 upgrade it was an amazing upgrade . The screen is not that great but its not like worst either, I mean I pushed too much on this laptop and dropped from table once but this laptop completes every aspect for casual gamer and if you are college student it will be easy for mobility cause it weights around just 1.86kg you can easily pick up by one hand. But I am quite impressed after 1 year of use, I would suggest people go for another asus tuf or acer nitro like specific for hardcore gaming but if you are strict on your budget then it's not a bad deal, and it's more like gaming notebook than gaming laptop. Thanks for making video on this laptop sir I appreciate it !!
thank you for reviewing inexpensive laptops I am so tired of people reviewing laptops that cost 5 and 6 times as much as this one -- especially when you don't get 5 times the performance or comfort
Just to help people understand, I literally only have these because I blew like $2000 AUD on both of them for my 1650 vs 3050 video. Otherwise I wouldn't have them. It sucks that companies mostly only send their high end stuff, if I want to cover more realistic stuff I have to spend my own money.
@JarrodsTech The heart, the passion you show to do more realistic and budget machines bro with your own money.. Its really worth a subscription and support. Well done.
I got myself the MSI GF63 thin with the 60hz screen, I don't regret anything about my purchase, theres alot being said about this laptop but to be honest I love the laptop the panel doesn't even open at all, guys my laptop was game ready from the moment I start gaming with it, yes it's not perfect but to be honest it's a great laptop, I bought it for programming and coding, but ended up doing some game test and trust the performance of the laptop is great I'm planning to upgrade it soon
I bought the gf65 10eu which looks identical but was $800. I guess the price made a difference because I have none of these issues. It opens one handed easily. The chassis doesn't pop open. It runs everything on the most extreme settings at a minimum of 60 fps and only heats up to around 64° C tops after adding liquid metal cooling and a pad. It's probably the best deal for a cheap laptop imo
We NEED to know how MSI's unlocked BIOS can be used to optimize this low cost laptop. This is exactly what would make this anything of a compelling buy, but you kept that section really simple. I'd like a bit more depth for this particular laptop given the compromise, price, but capabilities offered by MSI's advanced BIOS which laptops seldom have like it.
@@vmafarah9473 well, if you look at things right, even GasmersNexus is giving into some of the content creator pitfalls for maximizing views. Of course they are not lazy, but some of the rush they put on things for drama points ends up stirring the community in bad ways. Sometimes even against their own friends (I'm referring to the corsair debacle). I still find it amazing how they could publish a piece against someone who has been on their channel and not name them. Not that that was the problem, the problem was doing the piece altogether in such a tone, on a platform they know causes a lot of waves to brands that may not be fully at fault of their employees' opinions.
@@vmafarah9473 Undervolting is a meme, IMO, and not something I'd personally ever waste time on, therefore I don't cover it. I prefer maximum stability at any cost, if I want more performance I'll buy a better laptop. I understand that most people do not fall into this bucket, but there you are. Even if I were to do it, results vary based on silicon lottery, so there's no point at all in me wasting time trying to tune something when other people will get different results. Easier for me to just say it can do it and move on for those who do care. Also 12th gen locks undervolting, so there's that too.
@@JarrodsTech excellent point! I don't it as well. I prefer lower power processor from 100% to 99%. It's a lot easier. A little about me. I'm new to gaming laptop. I used to be a mobile gamer. I still type everything on my phone with just my right thumb xD Anyway I start small buying those $100 laptop with build in graphic with hdd and then I saw a gaming $200 laptop with ssd drive. The boot time is mind blowing. 10 sec versus 5 minutes. It come with a 1050ti, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage. Those specs should be the default specs. Strangely I saw $1000 gaming laptop only have 8GB ram and 500gb storage... Why do they do that? Since I already invested in the $200 the 1050 a weeks ago, I'll pass up on some great deal, like this G5 Gigabtye with a 3050ti for $600. I learned a lot from you. I'm hoping to get a 3060 for $500 for the next black Friday sale. Cheers
@@JarrodsTech I was more wondering about the ability to tweak the GPU power limit, but granted, that's likely not a setting available even on MSI's advanced BIOS. But that would probably be the only relevant thing to squeeze out of these, especially those extra 5W max of the more efficient 3050 mobile, but also the extra 10W max of the 1650. I agree on the rest, CPU undervolting kinda died on 8th-10th gen, when Intel had to patch it and OEMs started being more restrictive on their embedded controller ICs.
It's the cleapest RTX 3050 laptop in India, that outperforms 50W 1650 laptops. I wish it came with thr R5 5600H instead of the 11400H due to the tiny 51Whr battery it comes with. Still a solid budget choice. 👌
@@aerosw1ft bad things may happen to any laptop, but my brother's GF65 (same chasis as GF63) is still in pristine condition. Budget price = compromise.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH aye That's what I love about budget gaming laptop. You gotta give something up for the low price. For me who game on a portable monitor using a mouse and keyboard. I want to save with a laptop without a screen. Same goes for the battery, keyboard etc. I just want that video card, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD that can run every games on medium to high settings.
The struggle is real if this is your only option. Be patient and save your money. I got an MSI GL65 almost 2 years ago i7 10th gen 2070 with 16gb ram. Money to performance holds up comfortably among next gen consoles. I think that should be the bench mark.
Not looking to be a smartass, but if modern consoles are your benchmark, then you should buy a modern console. That said, if you use this for more than a gaming device, well there’s that.
Best Buy put up last year's Lenovo IdeaPad 3 gaming with an RTX 3050 Ti on sale for $550, which absolutely wrecks any value proposition the GF63 offers.
I recently brought a MSI Gp63 thin and walked from Zagreb to Vienna with it in a backpack almost 400 klm. It never failed me once and after the journey still looks as good as the day it existed the box. In Media Market I thought they mistakenly priced it such was the good value. It plays all the modern games really well and is light light light. To be honest I had a Super Gaming laptop though it's power brick alone weighed almost as much as this entire computer. Additionally in my model most of the plastic is now solid metal sheet. Also, I can run this laptop direct from four small solar panels. Best computer system I ever purchased and I have been buying computers since the Commodore 64.
This laptop holds a special place in my heart. The thought that I would finally be able to play games with my online friends and pursue all of the things I’ve always wanted to do (like making music, 3d printing and many more) kept my spirit up during the bad days, which were many. Even tho I dreamed about owning this laptop for almost a year, I never got it because I was extremely illiterate when it came to computer specs and I was afraid of buying something I didn’t know, scared that just maybe I was wasting my money. I ended up getting the TUF dash 15 which is essentially better in every way than the gf63 for only $300 more
I got a Nitro 5 (i7 11800h + rtx 3050ti) as it was a budget friendly gaming laptop. I expect it should last me roughly 4 hours on battery power to browse chrome and work with Microsoft word. I dont know if only my unit was affected or all Nitro 5 laptops have short battery life.
Damn i7 with rtx 3050ti? Pretty sure a cheaper i5 version would be good enough and won't bottleneck the GPU. Nitro 5 got a pretty average battery so yeh. Maybe try to upgrade the battery.
Nitros don't have good battery life. Look for Rog for good battery life. Expect to spend alot more for the same specs tho. Victus is decent I think. Considering one with a 5600h and 5500m for a purchase
I currently own the Gf63 with the rtx 3050, these laptops are super easy to mod, so the first thing I did was throw an ssd in and upgrade the ram to 32gb, laptop works super efficiently and Id say that its faster than my desktop, but my desktop is a little bit older. Anyways for only 600$ Im super happy with it and would recommend it, you will need to upgrade the ram with will run you and extra 20-30$ you can't do anything with the 8gb it came with all pc's need at LEAST 16gb now days.
How’s the noice during normal browsing use? My parents need a laptop but don’t want a noisy one, but my dad wants to play some farming or trucking sim games sometimes.
get gets pretty loud when gaming, I would recommend a laptop stand with built in fans to assist in cooling, the top also gets burning hot sometimes, but overall I'm super happy with the performance.@@theviralstuff4460
I am absolutely stunned at the price difference in different countries. Here in Bulgaria the same model costs like 850 usd and for the 16 gigs and rtx 3050 ti it goes up to 1k. Pretty expensive here.
Id advise to get it from a diff country and then ship it or ask a friend in countries where it is cheaper for example india to get it and ship it to ya
the poorest countries gave the most business ruining taxes: vat 20%+import10%+some barging. in the result prices in the US 500, Germany 600 and some shitholes 1k$
i rarely move my laptop and always keep it in one spot most of the time, I have dual speakers and keyboard and mouse connected to it so i basically use it more as a computer than a laptop but with the feature of being able to take it places when i need too. I really like this laptop and haven't had any physical issues at all.
I temporarily had a GF66 and oh boy, I was disappointed by the thing. It was blazing fast in the 11th gen i7 + 3070 configuration, but still, it felt too cheap from every other angle. Screen and speakers particularly were just really under my expectations. I’m glad I sent it back.
@@v5k456jh3 I do agree, but then again, I had little knowledge on the topic as I was tempted by a pretty good offer. I’m currently still looking for a more balanced out laptop and I’m thinking about content creator laptops, those look pretty interesting for what I need it for.
As a long time Msi user the biggest issue they they used the old lid/hinge design such that it's pretty much guaranteed it's gonna break at some point... This was a major issue on older Msi laptop that got pretty much fixed on the newer units with a redesign but it seem they are using the old chassis left over chassis for these budget models... As such I would never recommend this laptop ( and I'm saying this as an MSI fan) If you need cheap that badly wait for some sales or buy used... you will get much better quality Performance to price is great but without any kinda durability it's useless....
I’m not a gamer but I just ordered it for my architectural class I hope it works good and lives long. Any architecture students that have used this laptop ?
I already have a good gaming pc (RTX3060Ti, amd ryzen 7 5700x, 2x16Gb Ram with a 165hz screen) but I needed a laptop (gaming preferably) to use for school and to play when I am not at my parents house and this pc was the greatest option. I took the RTX3050 with i7 -11800h and it is sufficient. And the price was reasonable.
I've had this computer for over 7 months now, and it's been treating me very well, I've had no issues with it so far! I'm not able to have a job at the moment, so I had to use survey websites like Swagbucks and stuff for a few months to get money to buy it. I've had no issues with it so far, and I didn't know it was apparently so god-awful to people until I started looking up stuff about it. It might be because I'm personally used to not using the best hardware, but this laptop has been really, really good for the price it's set at. It preforms pretty well all things considered, and it can even run some VR stuff pretty well too! Any factors that I have issues with, like maybe the storage space being rather low, or the microphone and camera not being the best, I can buy parts to replace, or use external devices in place of it. Any other issues like the fan being noticeable, or "the keys not being key-y enough" are somewhat non-issues to me. I'm not the biggest computer person, but it seems pretty alright to me. I don't mind it being "ugly", again, I might just not be used to "good" hardware, but it looks pretty nice to me. All around, if you're in a pretty shotty financial situation, or you don't have much money, and need something pretty good (and something you can buy and replace parts for to make even better!!) then this laptop is a very good deal.
I got the MSI Raider GE66 back in October for college (I’m a computer animation student) I really like it, it’s fast and can handle large programs well. My favorite thing about it is the LED keyboard and the light bar at the bottom.
I bought GF63 10500h, 3050, 512 nvme, upgraded to 16 Gb 2 channel ram and added a 500 Gb ssd. Well the screen is the major issue, the rest hardware is ok and works fine. I have played all the modern games as Detroit, Horizon, GodOfWar, Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk, Witcher3, and many others, the laptop performs well all at 60 fps (except Cyberpunk) with dlss quality preset and high settings. Which is more the 3050 card might be flashed with 75 power limit vbios
Had this laptop with the 9th gen i5. Great machine for a low price with good cooling, and one of the only laptops ive ever owned which had no problems whatsoever :)
I've had the 1650 version for about 2 years, used to for a year upgraded and got a omen with a 3060. I gave this the gf63 to my girlfriend and she loves it, she plays wow and uses it for school anf it works great. I do recommend upgrading the ram and storage, I think if you slap another 8gb of ram and a 512 ssd I've bought both but have been too lazy to install them lol. But yeah all around 2 years using this anf it does great.
Not having a vent directly under the fans makes some sense if you think about directing airflow over power delivery components, but other laptops solve this by having the fan partially exhaust into the case.
My GF63 came with an 11th Gen i7 (11800H) , Gtx 1650 max q with a 512gb ssd and 8gb ram . Loving it so far , I play ETS2 on it on medium settings and it handles it like champ - might have to get a cooling pad though coz it gets a bit too toasty for my liking
I just purchased this laptop and the sturdiness alone of the one you used are not the same. So much different that I question if it's even the same computer. I'm not for or against this certain brand, I've never had an experience with them before but the laptop in front of me, doesn't have any of the cheaper make as in your demonstration. I only play Sims 4 on PC so I didn't need the $2000 gaming system. So far it plays better than any of my past regular laptops and I'm satisfied. No overheating, no lagging, good graphics, and fast enough. It's only been a week but for now, I'd recommend this laptop for Sims players.
Man, I think the thing that killed this for me (I had the MSI gf65 thin) when I had this for 2 years Was the keyboard, battery, overall portability, and that dang trackpad for programming... Yeah, I didn't have issues and I played a bunch of games with it, especially after I added a 2tb ssd after kinda snapping the top bar in the back, and ESPECIALLY after mine saved me on a game jam after half my apartment's power went out where I had to finish my game on not-my-desktop and had to make a trailer for my game (this was a 48-hour jam) I did end up switching this with a MacBook air 15 It's just... As much as I have an emotional attachment, I already had a desktop PC to need a not-entirely-portable laptop that I need glued to a charger I had also moved thus removing the fear of me almost catching on fire and my apartment losing half of it's electricity
I wished they updated the design and thermals of this thing. It's been the same for almost 4 years now and not much significant changes unlike Asus TUF and Acer Nitro where design and thermals have been modernised and reworked. Sure it's cheap but with designs like those even some older model Legion and newer model Ideapad is better considerably bit more money. MSI really should start being a bit more enthusiastic with their budget design.
I've bought this laptop for my time in hospital and i think, as a second PC it's worth. Obviously not for high end gaming sessions but if you had to travel somewhere, it should be fine.
i got this laptop with 3050TI/ 16GB ram, 1.5 TB space and honestly after i saw the issue you mentioned with the screen and the panel, i rushed to my room to see if mine has the same issue and no its solid and doesnt pop off at all. performance wise this thing is actually a beast at 1080p gaming, i played RE2/3 remake, cyberpunk/elden ring, GoW4, heavily modded elder scrolls, and many other games and it delivered very well on all of them save for cyberpunk on very high. heat was never an issue despite me living in an insanely hot country and sometimes use it in really hot room, and the screen color is fine but not amazing. IMO its a great option if you just want to fire up games at 1080p without RT enabled, and its available in most countries.
@@theviralstuff4460 if you start a AAA you have to turn on fans turbo or your heat will reach 75. So yeah it's not built well for heat or noise management.

The design of this laptop looks a lot like my old Dell 7559 that had an awful hinge that broke with it's horrible build quality. These cheap laptops aren't worth it.
i buy this laptop few months ago, and honestly ... its a very good value in country like indonesia because the rtx 3050 variant somehow cost cheaper than other laptop using 1650 ti and. and for gf63 wirh gtx 1650 ... the diffrence margin with the 3050 variant is only less than 20%. my only issue just the screen, its has low color gammut
I just got a Omen 16 Advantage Edition with 6800H and 6650M for 99k INR here in India. It's excellent. Compared it to my friends Legion 5 3060 which goes for around for 130k (that too last gen) and it's faster than the legion by about 5-10% in games. It's also got AMD's auto MUX called "Smart Access Graphics", recently started Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on it, works very well. Otherwise the laptop is great as well, Freesync Premium display, about 9 hours battery life, good keyboard, great build quality, amazing thermals (I suspect because of Smartshift), good speakers etc. The only downsides I have yet are one you can't limit the battery charge like you can on Asus, Lenovo laptops and second the hinge is a bit wobbly, that's it. All in all an excellent laptop.
@@v5k456jh3 yeah even though praised. You pay a gigantic premium for it. Like a 1650 legion is going at prices where your getting proper 3050 offerings from Dell and acer and even the humble IdeaPad.
Yeah msi gf63 series is by far the cheapest gaming laptop here in Southeast asian market, the second is always Acer nitro 5 being the cheapest but i would still prefer Nitro because msi gf63 has serious hinge problem and it only has 1 fan so cooling system is so horrid
It's awful. Had one of those. It's hot like it's a laundry iron, and loud, like it's a vacuum cleaner. Served me 2-3 months, then video memory chip died. And I'm not even a hardcore gamer. I used to sit on linux most of the time. Replaced with aorus 17 and damn it is comparatively the greatest laptop. Quiet and cold. 53-59 degrees average, 73 tops. Celsius ofc. Compared to 73-78 degrees average MSI had it's a bliss. And I must say it is relatively the same hardware as well. i7 processor, 3060 vcard. But damn aorus is built far better than msi. And that's just for few extra bucks. It's not like extra expensive or anything. Also, one more thing about MSI. it supposed to have slots for SATA SDD or HDD, and additional m.2 slot. Not sure why, but mine didn't had those. Why? And you see there is a space for them, the battery is even cut on the side just for the SDD/HDD to fit in, but there were no sata connection. So stupid, Jesus Christ. They even decided to cut the production cost by not including those ports in the product. So yeah, was really disappointed with this laptop, and really happy with aorus.
I have this laptop for a month so far and I'm actually pretty satisfied with it. It's a 1650GTX and for my demands, it's enough. As long as it can run esport games, it's great for me. I'm a pretty casual gamer. Seriously, my previous laptop wasn't even able to run CSGO at 30 FPS, so it was a massive shock for me to play R6S with high settings and still get 120. And besides I don't mind playing some singleplayer games on medium or low to get the performance up. (As if I hadn't been used to that with my old machine) To the build quality - I did try some of these myself and I did see some slight keyboard wobble but I hadn't encountered the hinge issue. Now is it cheap? Yes. Are there better laptops? Of course. Am I gonna upgrade the memory and ssd? Probably yes. But still it's serving me quite well. If you're not too demanding and just wanna play Siege or Overwatch like I do, then this is a good battlestation.
@@Keiara-vx5cq It's almost a year and nope, absolutely no hinge problems. The laptop still runs smoothly and it's pretty easy to upgrade the SSD. My only issue is the heating on the left side and the USB ports being mostly on the right side. It slightly makes cable work a bit inconvenient but it's fine.
my laptop has a 60-65w rx 5500m, and when i only use gpu it can go to 70 sometimes, cpu in games generally runs at 25-40w, and when only cpu can boost to 55w. needed to update drivers through amd website for it. also turning on vivid gaming mode makes display look much better and the overall experience is better compared to gf63, also the lid goes 180
Using a single stick of Ram is tactical move on keeping thermals down, as in single channel mode the CPU and gpu run slower and use less voltage, all this is to keep thermal temps under control, test it, benchmark with one stick using afterburner Riva tuner then put 2 sticks in and see the fps climb and all usages climb up.
I currently type this with my GF63 what I can tell you is that the RTX3050 is 35W default (lowest RTX 3000 card spec, you're not getting the 40W), Software overclocks it automatically to 40W in demanding games . so on maxed out it uses 40W on GPU and 25W on CPU maxed. but for a cheap laptop that can run Cyberpunk 2077 in high settings on avg 60FPS? not too shabby. Also its best to use it like what you would use a desktop, yes I know its a frickin laptop but at this price the chassis is is like a biscuit. so yeah I don't bring my GF63 anywhere (tho I got a 1st win on MSI lottery when buying them GF63 and got another laptop MSI Modern 14 for free so I use that one for work)

I have the gf63 gtx 1650 with max q and have no complaints. I got the 60hz screen version for $350 brand new and its maxxd at 60fps on every game I play. No problems with the hinge or build. I took it apart and upgraded ram and SSD only with a guitar pick and didn't think it was hard. Never even did that before with a laptop so idk what the fuss is. It's not the best but it certainly gets the job done for how cheap it is. Only some hardcore gamers might complain about this laptop not being good enough.
I've got this gf63 10UC which has i5-10500H rtx 3050 and 8 gigs of ram with 512gb ssd with 144hz display. I bought it this year and I'd say if you're willing to spend the least amount of money for a gaming laptop, this machine is for you cuz u can game on it, runs almost every game (some preferred in low quality) but other than that, I'm having a great time with it. It's worth every penny. And for this rtx3050 version, I spent around $630 usd, DEFINITELY WORTH IT!! I5 10th gen also runs pretty fast! Also, this laptop is like damn light, very easy to carry and it doesn't look too gamerish like when ur sitting in a cafe, it won't feel odd. Screen is also not too shabby. I've got no complaints for anything, cuz u know for that amount of budget, you get everything you want in a gaming laptop. Yeah thats basicall it. Have a great day!
I just bought a budget gaming laptop as a backup Windows laptop for is my main laptop crashes, to tide me over while I get a replacement. I got the MSI - THIN GF63 15.6" 144Hz FHD Gaming Laptop-intel core i5-12450H with 8GB Memory-RTX 2050-1TB SSD for $500.00. I only intend to use this machine if or when my main machine experiences some kind of catastrophic failure, where I'm gonna need another windows based computer until I get another real replacement, or to help repair my main gaming computer: An ASUS ROG STRIX w/ an RTX 3080.
I'm using my laptop for 2 years i have i5 10th gen and my panel doesn't pop back when i move the hinges all the way back. its looks solid and doesn't wobble and no flex it looks absolutely solid. maybe in 11th gen they went cheap material.

0:38 I've got an update on this with the MSI GF63.

I've had a GF63 8RD with 1050ti for 2 years. I have to say it served me very well! It was incredibly light and it never got too loud when gaming. Honestly for the price it was a steal. My only issue was that it's ugly. Still as a budget option it's fantastic
Same xD, but i only got the 8RC i5 8th - GTX 1050 version, it has been with me for 3 years now and still rocking.
Same here, I got the GF63 but with a 1060 back in 2018 for $800. I used it from high school to college. Then I upgraded to a Razer laptop a year ago.

I bought the gf65 10eu which looks identical but was $800. I guess the price made a difference because I have none of these issues. It opens one handed easily. The chassis doesn't pop open. It's probably the best deal for a cheap laptop imo
We NEED to know how MSI's unlocked BIOS can be used to optimize this low cost laptop. This is exactly what would make this anything of a compelling buy, but you kept that section really simple. I'd like a bit more depth for this particular laptop given the compromise, price, but capabilities offered by MSI's advanced BIOS which laptops seldom have like it.

i rarely move my laptop and always keep it in one spot most of the time, I have dual speakers and keyboard and mouse connected to it so i basically use it more as a computer than a laptop but with the feature of being able to take it places when i need too.
Buying a budget class with high cpu and gpu just makes no sense.

As such I would never recommend this laptop ( and I'm saying this as an MSI fan) If you need cheap that badly wait for some sales or buy used... you will get much better quality
Performance to price is great but without any kinda durability it's useless....
Any problem with the hinges?
Can it run gta rp?
@@PurgeBetrayed If you're asking if it can run GTA 5, then yeah, it can!
I got the MSI Raider GE66 back in October for college (I’m a computer animation student) I really like it, it’s fast and can handle large programs well. My favorite thing about it is the LED keyboard and the light bar at the bottom.
Got the same with a 3070ti for 1400$. Its a beast and worth it, build quality is really good too.

Not having a vent directly under the fans makes some sense if you think about directing airflow over power delivery components, but other laptops solve this by having the fan partially exhaust into the case.
single channel 1x8GB DDR4 is limiting factor in CPU performance by 20% 8:26. Games seems unaffected, because GPU is limiting factor 12:16
My GF63 came with an 11th Gen i7 (11800H) , Gtx 1650 max q with a 512gb ssd and 8gb ram . Loving it so far , I play ETS2 on it on medium settings and it handles it like champ - might have to get a cooling pad though coz it gets a bit too toasty for my liking
how about the build quality, is it different from the ones in the video?cuz they dont look too good, and for what price did u get it
I have also the same... But the Graphics configuration is displayed as Intel UHD and not Nvidia... Is it a glitch or am I being robbed?

I just purchased this laptop and the sturdiness alone of the one you used are not the same. So much different that I question if it's even the same computer. I'm not for or against this certain brand, I've never had an experience with them before but the laptop in front of me, doesn't have any of the cheaper make as in your demonstration. I only play Sims 4 on PC so I didn't need the $2000 gaming system. So far it plays better than any of my past regular laptops and I'm satisfied. No overheating, no lagging, good graphics, and fast enough. It's only been a week but for now, I'd recommend this laptop for Sims players.
FYI, Gigabyte G5 MD with 85w 3050ti is $550 now at Bestbuy (I’d love if you reviewed it!)
Man, I think the thing that killed this for me (I had the MSI gf65 thin) when I had this for 2 years
Was the keyboard, battery, overall portability, and that dang trackpad for programming...
Yeah, I didn't have issues and I played a bunch of games with it, especially after I added a 2tb ssd after kinda snapping the top bar in the back, and ESPECIALLY after mine saved me on a game jam after half my apartment's power went out where I had to finish my game on not-my-desktop and had to make a trailer for my game (this was a 48-hour jam)
I did end up switching this with a MacBook air 15
It's just... As much as I have an emotional attachment, I already had a desktop PC to need a not-entirely-portable laptop that I need glued to a charger
I had also moved thus removing the fear of me almost catching on fire and my apartment losing half of it's electricity
More than 4 i think i had a GL63 with 1060 from early 2018 i think..it had the same design
@@hardknight1545 only difference then was the shrunken bezels. But yeah, near indentical.

Acer nitro is now mid range not budget anymore
Southeast asia needs better cooling.
do you reckon that this laptop would be a good pick for studying it or not really?
Actually no, I had MSI GF76, not GF63, but still a piece of sh!t. I bet GF63 is even bigger piece of sh!t.
Steam deck costs around 500€, would you test it or compare against it?
I have this laptop for a month so far and I'm actually pretty satisfied with it. It's a 1650GTX and for my demands, it's enough. As long as it can run esport games, it's great for me. I'm a pretty casual gamer. Seriously, my previous laptop wasn't even able to run CSGO at 30 FPS, so it was a massive shock for me to play R6S with high settings and still get 120. And besides I don't mind playing some singleplayer games on medium or low to get the performance up. (As if I hadn't been used to that with my old machine)
To the build quality - I did try some of these myself and I did see some slight keyboard wobble but I hadn't encountered the hinge issue.
Now is it cheap? Yes. Are there better laptops? Of course. Am I gonna upgrade the memory and ssd? Probably yes. But still it's serving me quite well. If you're not too demanding and just wanna play Siege or Overwatch like I do, then this is a good battlestation.
Any problem with the hinges?
@@Keiara-vx5cq It's almost a year and nope, absolutely no hinge problems. The laptop still runs smoothly and it's pretty easy to upgrade the SSD.
