I actually that could have been a really interesting movie. What if amnesiac Harry decided to become a superhero? What if he immediately told Peter that he had superpowers and was fighting crime? How would his immediate and implicit trust of Peter, who never even told Harry he was Spider-Man, change their relationship? There's a really good story hiding in there.
Spider-Man 3 is a perfect example of what happens when you let a studio call the shots instead of the director who made 2 great films. And then they wonder why it failed and blame it on the director.
George Lucas but look at the birth of Sandman, that scene is poetic and genuinely beautiful. The scene where Peter gets the black suit is also amazing. Honestly his directing in this movie is better than most modern superhero movies. At the end, Peter says "I forgive you" to Sandman and it is just beautiful. He has messages in each of his films. In Spider-Man 3, The message is "you always have a choice. It's the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what's right."
Well how do you define failure? This is still the highest grossing Spider-Man film and, if Raimi hadn’t walked, a fourth film would have still happened. I don’t think the studio saw this as a blow at all
In the novelization of this movie, there's a whole scene where Aunt May teaches him piano. The book is so much better, and that's normally not the case.
One thing I really liked about this movie is that when Peter snaps at Mr Ditkovitch, Ditkovitch doesn't just develop some big grudge against Peter, he understands that this is unusual behaviour for him and tries to be understanding. I've always hated in movies and shows where a character will act in a way that's sort of out of their control and it makes their friends hate them
I watched Spider-Man 3 before Spider-Man 2 and Mr Ditkovich was never the "rent guy" to me, he was always that nice guy who didn't get mad at Peter for not paying his rent.
The ending is really depressing. It just ends with Peter and Mary Jane realizing they're not healthy together, Peter indirectly killed Harry, and everything just ends in a sad state. We absolutely need a spider man 4
Maybe I’m just a psychopath who likes unhappy endings but I always felt the story ended perfectly. Everyone’s character arcs had finished and I never felt the need to see more from this world. I dunno
I really love the ending. As an ending for this trio of friends we’ve connected with over three movies. But a sequel years later could be great. I hope they don’t overly concern themselves with tying it to NWH and just let Raimi make a sequel true to those characters.

The Italian ones in particular were fun because they didn't work off of a timed fuse like most other hand grenades - their ignition was through impact, so basically when they hit the ground they're supposed to go boom, except sometimes they didn't go off which is bad for the Italians - but British soldiers wouldn't realize how they worked so they'd go to pick up the un-exploded ones as souvenirs or just out of curiosity and that movement would set off the partially-compressed impact fuse and cause them to explode in their hands - which is bad for the British. So they nicknamed them 'Red Devils' - additionally, all types of grenades might not ignite fully and only let out a little 'poof' like if they were left out in the rain, there's all sort of stories of people surviving grenades thanks to this. I just wanted to talk about grenades for a bit. Thank you. >.>
When this movie came out, I got all my friends together and we drove an hour to our closest imax to see this opening day. I am no longer allowed to pick movies for us to watch.
When the car goes by and Harry disappears from the table at the diner, I don't know why Peter stopped. Like, he was in a building across the street. He probably ducked under the table. Peter could go and find him if he wanted to.
Cocky Peter is actually the best part of the movie for me. He doesn't go from dorky hero with no confidence to suave jerky social butterfly, he becomes a dork with confidence and skill. It's amazing.
Fun Fact: They were originally going to have Harry Osborn become Corn of Coblin but Sam Raimi knew that audiences weren't ready yet to see such a horrifying and powerful villain on screen.

Yeah, I was looking for this comment. Years ago I read that when I was a kid and it kinda ruins my experience with the final part of the movie cause I can't help but think of that everytime she's on screen.
I love the Raimi movies possibly more than any other superhero movies that exist (definitely my favorite Marvel Superhero movies, easily!) and I'd love a 4th to be released with Tobey and Kirsten back, but given the choice... I'd go with more TSSM! Honestly, TSSM is just the best depiction of the Spider-man mythos there is. It's the best one in regards to characterization of the supporting cast and plot progression in every single episode... it's even better than the comics in that regard because the writers of TSSM have the advantage of knowing all about the comic history and had clear ideas for where the characters would end up. It also ended on a cliffhanger where as the Raimi movies ended with optimism for Peter and MJ's romance; where as Peter and Gwen aren't able to be together at the end of TSSM and I really was rooting for them to.
I remember seeing this in cinemas. It was a mate and I in our late teens, about 30 kids in pajamas and some mothers and when Harry turns up in the final fight and the bomb hits Sandman in the side of the head, one of the kids in full spiderman pjs jumped up and stood on the seat in front of him, pointed at the screen and screamed "IT'S THE GREEN GOBLIN!!!!" It's probably my favourite moment I have ever had in a cinema.

3:13 That’s cause there was a man named Quentin Beck who was in charge of the crew for these movies. He was responsible for a lot of the great special effects, but people said that he hated working on Spider-Man films and that he had a bit of a violent side when someone pissed him off.
I have no idea where this comes from, if it’s the Mandela effect or what, but I loved these movies when I was a kid, even this one (I had zero problems with Spider-Man 3 when it came out and for several years afterward) I saw them all dozens and dozens of times. However, I vividly remembered there being a post credit or mid credit scene or something where you see a very small amount of the symbiote kinda wiggling out of and crawling away from the like pile of ash that was left from it after it got blown up. As if it was hinting at it potentially coming back, or possibly carnage being in the sequel or something. I felt for a while like I remembered watching a scene like that two, three, or maybe even four times (I could rarely make myself sit through credits when I was a kid). Imagine my surprise going back to rewatch the movie after I hadn’t seen it in several years and finding out that the scene absolutely DOES NOT exist. It’s the weirdest thing, if you’d have asked me if a scene like that existed from 2007 all the way through 2011 or 2012, I’d have bet you money that it DID. This completely baffles me, I have no idea why I remember this, again Mandela effect, wishful thinking, other media I confused with this for some reason? I have NO IDEA.

I'd like to see a Mayday Parker (Spider-Girl) origin story where she's the daughter of Raimi's Peter and MJ, who crosses universes to join the current Spider-Man.
And here we see the important lesson that nobody in Hollywood learned, which is don’t do too much in one comic movie. It’s better to have one cohesive movie than a dozen beginning plot lines.
Or, as the MCU learned, it's better to have a dozen cohesive movies.

The bad peter sequence is legendary IMO. So stupid that it kinda becomes ironic and campy to emphasize on how comic books are written. It really does work for me, i love it. Not every superhero movie needs to be rational and more serious.
The best part about the Venom story line is how cool the symbiote suit looks.

I love the Raimi movies possibly more than any other superhero movies that exist (definitely my favorite Marvel Superhero movies, easily!) and I'd love a 4th to be released with Tobey and Kirsten back, but given the choice... I'd go with more TSSM! Honestly, TSSM is just the best depiction of the Spider-man mythos there is. It's the best one in regards to characterization of the supporting cast and plot progression in every single episode... it's even better than the comics in that regard because the writers of TSSM have the advantage of knowing all about the comic history and had clear ideas for where the characters would end up. It also ended on a cliffhanger where as the Raimi movies ended with optimism for Peter and MJ's romance; where as Peter and Gwen aren't able to be together at the end of TSSM and I really was rooting for them to.

It was a mate and I in our late teens, about 30 kids in pajamas and some mothers and when Harry turns up in the final fight and the bomb hits Sandman in the side of the head, one of the kids in full spiderman pjs jumped up and stood on the seat in front of him, pointed at the screen and screamed "IT'S THE GREEN GOBLIN!!!!"

I have no idea where this comes from, if it’s the Mandela effect or what, but I loved these movies when I was a kid, even this one (I had zero problems with Spider-Man 3 when it came out and for several years afterward) I saw them all dozens and dozens of times. However, I vividly remembered there being a post credit or mid credit scene or something where you see a very small amount of the symbiote kinda wiggling out of and crawling away from the like pile of ash that was left from it after it got blown up. As if it was hinting at it potentially coming back, or possibly carnage being in the sequel or something. I felt for a while like I remembered watching a scene like that two, three, or maybe even four times (I could rarely make myself sit through credits when I was a kid). Imagine my surprise going back to rewatch the movie after I hadn’t seen it in several years and finding out that the scene absolutely DOES NOT exist. It’s the weirdest thing, if you’d have asked me if a scene like that existed from 2007 all the way through 2011 or 2012, I’d have bet you money that it DID. This completely baffles me, I have no idea why I remember this, again Mandela effect, wishful thinking, other media I confused with this for some reason? I have NO IDEA.
