Well you see the key word there is “think.” Think about what Batman should and shouldn’t do, with proper knowledge to make the decision. Which is something that Zack Snyder severely lacks.
You forgot the biggest part of Batman that they always leave out of the movies is the fact that he is the greatest detective that ever lived they never cover that. Biggest part of Superman that's left out is the care when it comes to the newspaper how the issues effect everyone.
Everyone says "Batman's power is his wealth" but it's really his brain. Yes I know that Batman also has a surplus of plot armour but Batman gets by through his interlect and his will power.

I use to care about newspapers as a child & teenager up into the late 1990's. Than I realize all the news was control Democrats and the slow growing SJW con artists. Superman stands for Truth, Justice, & the American way of life. The current media for since forever never cared for Truth or Justice, only social narrative control and profit. Love the tv series Lois & Clark: the new adventure of Superman, made in the 1990's. It shows what life was like without camera phones & high speed internet. In a few shows after a press conference it shows a few dozen reports bull rushing a small group of payphone to Call In what they just heard. Hell, I wonder way in all of these years with shows like "E.R." and a whole list of crime shows they never did a hard core News Room reporting show to remotely show what Clark Kent & Lois Lane, and Jim Olsen life would be like. Oh yeah, they went after corrupt city politicians and organize crime families. You don't want the younger people to learn how to investigate their own politicians and Big Business. Yea everyone knew they would reboot everything through flash point. that was always their backup plan since they introduced the multiverse. The MCU also has to do this as well except they already had their multiverse introduction so now it is blatantly forced.
"The Justice League cartoon does this the best." God does it ever. It's so sad to me that 20 years on and the best representation of the DC heroes - in terms of plotlines *AND* (voice) acting - is fucking cartoons from the early 00s. It's so good, STILL.
I know this is DC focused, but Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes did the same for Marvel besides just Spider-Man, and Wolverine. Both of these shows are love letters to these characters and stories.
One of my favourite Superman moments was actually in a Nightwing story. Dick is moving out of Gotham and Clark shows up to help him move house, because Dick is his friend and Dick asked the league for a hand moving into his new place. That's it. That's the moment. Superman shows up to help his friend move house. That's the kinda guy he is.

Snyders problem is that he thinks that if a story has to be "gritty" it means ALL characters have to act like that and everything has to be "super dark" its a childs view of what gritty storytelling is, where you just have people looking sad and have everything be grey and drab. Zach Snyder might be one of the most shallow directors out there.
What messed DC up is that Marvel slowly brought up each character in they're own movie before becoming the avengers. While DC just through all of them in one movie.

It's funny because that scene in kill bill saying "Clark Kent is the mask" is actually a more accurate description of Batman. Because to him the Batman persona is his true self while he considers the"billionaire playboy philanthropist Bruce Wayne" persona to be the mask
I'm here after watching the Suicide Squad reboot. I was blown away by what DC can do with unknown characters, while their big heroes flop. Fact that King Shark, Polka Dot Man, Weasel, Peacemaker is more beloved than Batman and Superman, should have WB questioning whom they should give their property to.
I always thought that the line Bill says in Kill Bill Vol. 2 was written intentionally incorrect. By warping Superman's alter ego and back story, Bill reveals his own twisted view of humanity, not Superman's.
Yeah, except it's kinda true. Superman doesn't know how to be normal. That's why he's clumsy and shy and awkward and meek as Clark Kent. So either a charismatic brave able god is pretending to be a simple shy country boy, or a simple shy country boy is pretending to be a charismatic, brave, able god. I kind of doubt the latter.
Bill is right up to the point where he says Clark is Superman's critique of the human race. Clark is actually Superman's love letter to the human race, and to Jonathan Kent, who was mild mannered and wore glasses. Clark Kent is Kal-El emulating Jonathan Kent, because to him Jonathan is what humanity should be-kind and gentle.

12:20 - one of the most amazing things is how he gets Superman/Kent and Bruce/Batman *entirely backwards* from how those two superheroes interact with their own identities as Bruce slowly slips into *being* the Batman, while Clark is very grounded as himself first.
17:42 what makes this scene for me is the fact that Batman is the one who offers his hand to her. It would've been one thing if Ace was the one who held his hand or hugged him, but the fact that Batman is the one who opens himself first shows how caring he is.
Which is why it annoys me when edgy teenagers think Batman would be gruff and mean to kids. That's just stupid. He literally saw his parents murdered when he was a little boy, he wouldn't be mean or grumpy to kids, he would actually be caring and want to protect them at all costs.
Batman has a soft spot for children, it's literally one of his defining traits in the comics and DCAU. The fact that this aspect of his character has been largely ignored in his live-action adaptations leading to misconceptions like these is very annoying.
cavill is awesome it's a shame he was wasted on the dceu. also i'm a bit bias because cavill is a w40k fan (we need a 40k movie with cavill as captain general of the custodes or even just the emperor himself)
One of the BIGGEST issues for the DCEU is that they constantly worry about catching up with Marvel, which is what ruins them, they should’ve made character origin movies but they just rushed and made Justice League to try and compete with Avengers
I don’t think doing ensemble movies early was their problem. Ensemble movies work all the time (Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings, Oceans Eleven etc). Rushing was a problem. BvS should have been split to allow for exploring Bruce’s reaction to MoS which might have made the conflict make more sense.
They should have waited their turn instead of playing catch up. Now they are fucked because the MCU is about to bring back the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Justice League released post-Infinity War would have been the way to go.
Kyle Richter they won't, if they are wise, bringing x men and f4 is a huge problem. People will realise it later, now they are in dreamy state, but down the line the universe will become a mess.
Honestly, they could have done Wonder Woman before BvS and that would have been a major improvement right there. Introduce 2 heroes. Then BvS woulda still had flaws but it'd at least flow better. As it's basically a Batman movie, even being called BATMAN v Superman and not Superman V Batman. And it introduces Batman but BAM there's also Wonder Woman. Then Suicide Squad which mentions the death of Superman so it sinks in. Then Justice League. It would have been at least decent. It gives them 4 movies before JL. Avengers also only had 4 movies before it (well 5 but I barely remember to include the Incredible Hulk XD)

When they try to make them dark and gritty, they usually also somehow suck out all the characters’ natural charisma in the process. You can have a dark and gritty character who is interesting and likable (just look at Batman), but some characters aren’t meant for that unless they’re an alternate version of the character, like normal Superman vs Injustice Superman
They made Superman who's supposed to be very warm and charismatic into an emotionless hunk of angst. Even Batman is pretty charismatic at times but they devolved him into a mean-spirited murderer with anger issues
I don’t think that’s the issue. The movies could be dark with any character and still be good! The problem is that every serious and dark thing that happens, is followed by a joke. Not even a good joke! Not that a good joke would not ruin the serious moments they don’t need jokes to undercut it! Like when that kne forgettable character died and then they made a joke about his corpse like BRUH it could have been so much cooler and I would actually be able to remember who died if they did t undercut it with trash comedy
I have to say, I think it says something about the director's emotional maturity. They want the violence and grit with the emotional consequences. Basically, making villains. But how much would it hurt to see sweet, bumbling, pathologically honest Clark Kent kill someone to save others? But I agree with the Cosmonaut, there's always a better way, or at least, a different way with more manageable consequences. Did Clark never watch Star Trek? Vulcan neck punch that mfk.

@TyetheRebel Tyler Hoechlin is probably the best comic portrayal in the CW. Green Arrow has become Batman. Barry is discount Pre 52 Wally. Supergirl is just annoying at times. Tyler is a breathe of fresh air.

Battinson: Would do it very awkwardly because he's just a very traumatized child who hid himself from the world. Balebat: Would, but I think the child might be scared of him and run away and he'd leave it at that. Bruce from Bale's would, though. Batfleck(Snyder): Would do an okay job. Conroy: Who are we kidding, Conroy IS Batman. R.I.P. Clooney, Kilmer, Keaton: Keaton maybe. The rest, not particularly. Although I believe Kilmer had a Robin, so that's something. Adam West. He had a Robin. He was a father. He absolutely would. Thoughts?
I think the scene in Kill Bill that you show here actually applies more to Batman in a lot of stories than Superman. It’s a real plot point in a lot of Batman stories that he neglects being Bruce Wayne, regularly puts that section of his life on hold, and considers himself to be Batman more than Bruce. There’s a great scene in Batman: Beyond (the continuation series of Batman: The Animated Series,) where it is shown to the audience that Bruce’s inner voice calls himself “Batman,” not “Bruce”. This is fascinating, because it shows the thing that truly sets Batman apart from other heroes: his attitude and mentality. In the Justice League episode where a nightmare dude is the villain, Batman has a great line where he says, “I have one superpower, I never give up,” which is a little on the nose, but also incredibly accurate. It takes a special type of person to go through everything that Batman goes through and never waver, and it is, (in my opinion,) the best thing about his character. Kill Bill vol. 2 could have nailed this scene for comic readers if they made that switch, Although admittedly it would have confused a lot of people
smallville was a decent adaptation of superman - where he really is clark kent with a normal teenager life, but also has to deal with keeping his powers a secret, while helping others
Megan Todd only thing I didn’t love about Superman in Justice League and Unlimited is that he seemed under powered. He also couldn’t fly into space without a suit. But overall, he’s probably the most “Superman” of most adaptations.
gemifi wic ok so most people who are fans of marvel are because of the movies, most of them don’t even read the comics! It’s different for dc fans. I think it’s better to read the comics because that’s why there’s movies and shows anyways.

You know. I always thought that the reason batman doesn't kill is not only because it would make him just like the criminals, but also because deep down, he believes that the people he fights can change for the better. Why else would he keep putting them in an asylum?
Fact... He did.. Like kite man and save mr. Freeze to let his wife go on and be cool with gordan.. And was hoping to save harvey dent he was like a bestie with bruce..
Yeah...but there's really no excuse for the Joker. That guy is sick, after the third time he did awful things to innocent people. Well "hope for them changing" shouldn't even be a question.
The real reason Batman doesn't kill is because an editor told the creators of Batman that they needed to water down the character for kids. Denny O'Neil made a decent effort at justifying this aspect of the character in the 1970s, but it's still the result of a silly mandate from 1940.

@@spaceace2126 I don't get what any of you are saying though, when I think Bruce Wayne and the core ideas of Batman, I think of the Nolan interpretation
This reminds me of how many intellectuals choose Watchmen as the only comic they ever read because it was on the NYTimes bestseller list, so they don't recognize the difference between Golden and Silver age heroes and how this shift in medium reflects the nuclear age and what the modern hero says about us. The aesthetic color shift won't strike a nonreader as especially interesting and a lot of them leave it with a "so what?" reaction.
I would say the Kill Bill monologue is more true of Batman/Bruce Wayne than anything. The actual Bruce clearly doesn't give a shit about parties or women, he's just a lonely man who wants to stop everyone else from being lonely. Bruce way, billionare playboy philanthropist is his costume.
No, because Clark actually loves what he does. The only thing that is fake about Clark is how clumsy he is, everything else is his honest and true self.

Anyone who thinks this is not the case, explain to me why NONE of the DC tv show stars are forbidden from reprising their roles in movies. Aside from the fact that WB is hell-bent on having Barry Allen as their version of the Flash but keep writing him like's he's Wally West.
And none of THAT awesome content and themes is ever going to desecrate their pristine movies with its slimy television roots, you mark my words. WB does NOT want their films to be anything like their shows, and since their shows are awesome, well...
Justice League Unlimited had its run and it was a good run. We do not need another season of the series. It's perfectly fine the way it is. Also, there are other DC animated series. The score mentioned Young Justice is getting another season and Justice League Action is a fun series with lighthearted episodes. Also the representation of Superman is amazing in it.

Bilal so you don't call man of steel or wonder woman an origin movie lol?

When they try to make them dark and gritty, they usually also somehow suck out all the characters’ natural charisma in the process. You can have a dark and gritty character who is interesting and likable (just look at Batman), but some characters aren’t meant for that unless they’re an alternate version of the character, like normal Superman vs Injustice Superman

Yeah dude it's awesome
I’ve been watching Smallville
And it’s amazing
SMALLVILLE WAS THE GOAT. I'm in s10 of my 3rd rewatching rn
Megan Todd only thing I didn’t love about Superman in Justice League and Unlimited is that he seemed under powered. He also couldn’t fly into space without a suit. But overall, he’s probably the most “Superman” of most adaptations.
problem is not the heroes
the problem is they can't make movies.
gemifi wic ok so most people who are fans of marvel are because of the movies, most of them don’t even read the comics! It’s different for dc fans. I think it’s better to read the comics because that’s why there’s movies and shows anyways.
You probably did not watch the video till the end cause he said that there is no problem with the dc heroes only with the one making the movies because the heroes are being misinterpreted.
Bachelor of Bullshit you’re right I didn’t one of my favorite youtubers made a new video and I wanted to watch it
@@estherbowman6600 with how many different versions of comics there are? Nowadays modern people don't know where to start reading. You know multiverse stuff and reboots. So people nowadays suffer looking through which one is the real storyline so they just stick with the live action movies. Not to mention the time and money you need to invest on comics people prefer to watch a few hours of movie and be done with it.
Bachelor of Bullshit ok cool
You know the real problem for DC is WB. Lol
really cause they are involved in some good films harry potter /beasts / the matrix/dc animated films
@@gasternecross you're right. Same as disney. They have great films too and still the MCU continued strong for over 10 years. WB gotta do something with DCEU
@@NAFANUA-zo2bu I have two options for Warner:
1) Sell the rights to another studio that really cares
2) Hire a better director
NAFANUA 1983 yes
Disney wants to know your location
21:42 this did not age well for Flash and Wonder Woman Nowadays
I mean, he was right on both his points about them
You know. I always thought that the reason batman doesn't kill is not only because it would make him just like the criminals, but also because deep down, he believes that the people he fights can change for the better. Why else would he keep putting them in an asylum?
Exactly.
Fact... He did.. Like kite man and save mr. Freeze to let his wife go on and be cool with gordan.. And was hoping to save harvey dent he was like a bestie with bruce..
Idk man, he knows Arkham is a shithole that's meant to be a prison not a hospital
One of DC movie's failure is that they don't know how to develop a character in almost every movie
Ehm Wonder Woman? Shazam? Aquaman?
Wrestling Anime 4life the fact that that list includes every single movie they did it in sorta proves the point
@@wrestlinganime4life288 he said ALMOST
Overall
Yes, exactly
Indeed, they just being a typical superhero in every kid's dream. Beating aliens, evil specie who tries to invade and colonize earth and in the end the heroes win hooray
The Christopher Nolan batman were so good because they weren't really based on anything. It was about a guy who was sick of seeing crime so he did something about it. That's just me though.
Nolan picked some good comics to the trilogy so is based in something
don't make a batman movie if your not actually interested in writing batman
@@spaceace2126 Well if you got the money, I suppose he can make whatever movie he likes.
@@spaceace2126 I don't get what any of you are saying though, when I think Bruce Wayne and the core ideas of Batman, I think of the Nolan interpretation
@@LittlePatMan when I hear the word Batman, I always think about the animated show. Nothing can top that Batman even the comics can't.
Wouldnt clarks daily planet persona technically be a costume too?
Completely agree.
No, because Clark actually loves what he does. The only thing that is fake about Clark is how clumsy he is, everything else is his honest and true self.
Whether you enjoy your mask or not doesn't affect whether it is a mask or not.
Why cant they just bring back justice league unlimited plz wb the dc fan base needs this show and young justice back
Because WB sees television as a filthy plebbe medium and feels that this televised filth MUST NOT TOUCH their precious, shiny movies. Anyone who thinks this is not the case, explain to me why NONE of the DC tv show stars are forbidden from reprising their roles in movies.
Aside from the fact that WB is hell-bent on having Barry Allen as their version of the Flash but keep writing him like's he's Wally West.
Young Justice is coming back.
Yeah, not the tts shit
When you mention the fact that most DC movie directors don't really know the source material well before they make the movie...
That pretty much sums up why the Marvel movies are so great. Stan Lee is right there helping to make the movies and make sure they are good. They are his babies and he wants them to succeed.
Who is watching over DC movies?
Yes, and now that he's gone we can see Phase 4 is going to be a fucking shitshow.
@@cypherpunk7675 I think that Far from home did a pretty good job... I think that Stan Lee was there long enough for them to get the concept. Now it's up to them to don't lose track
Pepe1776 no it’s not
DaJoIKeR yeah hopefully they don’t deviate
@@jackwyatt3854 yea MCU spider man sucks...his intro in CW was awesome..but like BP it lost the plot when given to the solo film directors...
The problem is, Zack Snyder is an edgelord who based DCEU on shitty New 52 Universe and hasn't read any good DC cosmic in his lifetime
