    Yea, one of my favorite and definitely most humble TH-cam channels.
    You seem to get better and better as time goes on as you learn more of the features of your avionics panel. and share "warts" and all for us to learn as well.
    Keep up the good work!!

      Sorry I rarely watch TV at all and when I do they’re reruns of old shows I watched growing up on INSP, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, etc…

    Love these vids and thank you for making them...reminds me of the good ol'flying days... I have down graded my airplanes..now a Cherokee 180 C. I too had a very turbulent return flight from Chicago to Spirit STL where I was to drop off a buddy to pick up his truck... winds 90 degrees at gusty 30+. No one was flying. Told passenger i would try one approach. I became #2 behind a Falcon who had been so busy on approach had called a go-around only after already climbing out over the other end of the runway. My turn. No flaps. 90mph approach... left wheel touch at 80 left side of center line...pinned gear holding full left aileron forward.preasure.....and very very slowly taxied to terminal...where there were 4 very upset line workers glaring at me counting cash out to another guy...obviously the bet was for me to go around not the Falcon....

    Excellent video as usual. Your music choice was perfect for that taxi. I normally would have fast forwarded through it but loved the music so much I had to stick around.
    Glad the RPM suggestion worked out. Good trick to have in the bag on high flights in summer temps.
    Keep the videos coming!

    It's good having a nice wide runway for landing in a crosswind like that. Nice job.

    Wow, that long taxi sure would have been painful in a turboprop. Almost scary to run out of fuel although you had legal reserves when you touched down ;-)
    Great video as always. You in front like every man excited about all the technical stuff and the girls in the back ZZZzzz.... Haha, love it.

    I imagine the different points on the same line are for vertical separation purposes, i.e. separate sets of crossing restrictions to keep faster jets from running over slower props when on the same arrival.

    Brother, I think this is one of the best crosswind landings I have ever seen. My dad and I were flying my (flying instructor's) Piper Cherokee PA 28 140 in Ohio. We were coming in on final on runway 9 (Blacktop runway) and we were at full flaps on a crosswind coming from the left, mind you we had power lines to the right of us about 200 ft. We have not been able to figure out why, but when we touched down, we hit hard and bounced three times so daddy gave it full throttle and the wind started to throw us toward the power lines. Knowing the wind as he did he immediately put his foot in the left rudder and turned left and then we were alright. I soloed that airplane when I was 17 and I made up my mind if there was going to be a crosswind I was not going to use flaps. But why does it work for some Pilots? Coming from someone who used to fly all the time that may sound like a stupid question, but I thought I would just ask. By the way, I hope ya'all continue to fly Piper aircraft. Love to see ya'all in an M350. Blessings my friend in the Lord, Bishop Kirby

    How did you do the crossing restriction on the gtn750, create a temp way point?

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have illustrated that a little better. The beauty of it is that I don't have to create a temporary waypoint. At 3:20 you'll see that the GTN 750 now has an "ALT" column to the right of the waypoints in the flightplan. In this case, I simply clicked on the empty ALT field next to UKW and entered 11000 feet. In that same entry, there is an option to input number of miles before or after that point so I just entered "-25" and it automatically generated the "UKW -25" entry in the flight plan with an 11000' crossing.

    Great work! Despite the challenging conditions, things looked quite stabilized just before touchdown. What was it that brought you within a second of a go-around? By the way, I think there could be added pressure on some pilots not to go around at a major airport like DFW, but of course it should be done if advisable.

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark. The video doesn't depict the rapid updraft we got just before initially touching down. As we shot upward ~10-15', I watched the airspeed drop pretty quickly but then recover as I dipped the nose. The video makes it look easy :)

      VFR on Top is not allowed in Canada. There have been issues with American pilots flying to Alaska and getting stuck not being able to descend to an airport.

    Very nice videos. Love and watch all of them! One comment: Crosswind at 190@18 would be a 50 deg crosswind with a cross wing component of 14 knots (without gusts, 19 knots with gusts). I am guessing you didn’t consider 18s due to heavy airline traffic?

    • @MalibuFlyer
      @MalibuFlyer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right. I plugged 8kts. into my calculator instead of 18. I didn't request 13, they assigned it and I didn't ask for the 18's because I knew they had heavy commercial flows coming from the north at that time.
