I love your channel and I Love your approach to your flying. Competence without arrogance, caution without timidity, attention to detail without tunnel vision.
Amazing video!! Been watching these for several years now and this is one of my favorites! So much detail that I can't even imagine understanding as a non-pilot. Thank you for sharing
I love following your flights. This was surely the most detailed with minimums, a busy controller and instructing a student. Well done to you both. Greetings from Brisbane Australia.
Just found your TH-cam channel and I’ve now subscribed. Great flight...kept my attention completely! I flew and owned and flew a Cherokee 180 for 24 years, which sounds like what Katie flies...great plane! I little over a year ago I had to stop flying and sell her...now I’m going to relive flying with you two! Thanks for sharing your adventure. Katie, keep up the great flying! A L/R hint...look at the back of your hands, with thumbs sticking out...left hand should look like an L.
Before I was instrument rated, I used to marvel at these pilots dropping out of the bottom of a cloud, never thought of dropping out of the thick smoke like that. Excellent video. I only fly flight simulators on my computer now. Thanks for the video.
Good Day Sir. I just discovered your channel today and have watched 3 or 4 of the videos, including your daughters solo flight. She definitely takes after her Dad, she handled the curves thrown at her like a pro. You have a Beautiful family and I love watching someone that is a Safe and Sane pilot as are you. Thank you for sharing, I will be continuing to watch and learn.
What an inspiration Katey is! A truly wonderful God centered family. The Reno controller left me, upon initial contact, with the impression that he had your destination as Truckee instead of South Lake Tahoe.
19:57 “operational necessity”....the arriving AA flight on the radio needed a runway at Reno that wasn’t currently being used by the airport...for whatever reason-performance, approach capability, etc-and the controller needed the crew to state exactly why they needed it.
Don’t worry about your dislexic directional condition. My dad actually made “left” and “right”placards and put them on either side of the directional gyro. To avoid a wrong turn.
An old Navy admiral had a wooden box in his stateroom, and he would always close the door in the morning and look in the box. One day, his sailors saw him look in the box. He passed away, and one of the sailors ran to the box. There was a card in the box that said, "port left, starboard right."
Holy crap, greased it young lady, and in crappy conditions. Good job! And good job dad! And last but definitely not least, bravo to ATC, he had his hands full.
Fun video, I was behind you in a Comanche awaiting IFR release when you cancelled to depart VFR, Never been to KFFZ before, man that place is a circus. I got the Mesa 1 Ifnur to PXR V190 to go NE but ended up getting vectors around Gateway to join V190. Nutty the amount of flight school traffic there! Fun to hear Katie on the radio, congrats to her on her aviation journey, you two crack me up
I got my PPL and instrument out of FFZ and yeah the airspace around there is absolutely saturated with traffic. During instrument training I flew the Mesa1 IFNUR every flight as all the approach training is done so the south at the airport CGZ since it's an uncontrolled field with a VOR, ILS, and a GPS approach.
CPT. Malibu, (4DT) I concur with all the other kudos that you had received from other viewers. Can't believe but you have been flying such a short time and have achieved such a commanding array piloting skills. I just had to stop & tell you how really impressed I am by how you conduct your "PIC" AUTHORITY! You seem to have a very confident grip on airman's manual. You're one smooth operator and obviously have a good personality. Your love for your family comes shining through and is very admirable. Are you going to buy the M600? You know, I can almost see you taking to the skies in the new "Honda elite"! (hey why not?) Will close by thanking you for some outstanding videos. Remember the 5 Ps: proper planning produces perfect performance. GODbless!!! Chuck
Enjoy your videos with your daughter Katey. Very proud of her as I'm sure that you are! Being as I have 3 daughters of my own I know how proud Dad's can be when our kids accomplish great things. I'm confident she's going to be a great pilot.
Well done guys! I'm in the fact finding phase of a Malibu purchase and all of your vids are extremely helpful. Got over 7k hours of flying high performance aircraft and Large Cabin Gulfstreams. I really do enjoy the professionalism and airmanship you provide in your videos. Keep it up and looking forward to the next one. Tailwinds!!
Great to see a new post ... and to see Katey progressing. My only complaint ... would love to see/hear you cancelling IFR on the ground. I was getting anxious watching the (accelerated) taxi ... afraid that someone up there was going to be making unnecessary circles to the right if you waited too long / forgot to cancel 😉. Those fires are serious, be safe and blessings to you and your family!
Welcome Back! Thanks for taking the time to produce this video for us and congrats to your new personal chauffeur. Also cudos for the flight to assist someone in need.
You're not alone, Katey. I announce baseball games and was constantly getting confused about whether the ball went to right field or left field. Now I have an "R" tattooed on my right hand between the base knuckle of my thumb and the base knuckle of my index finger, and an "L" on the same position on my left hand.
Its good to see your back on the channel, I was looking forward to your videos, I learned alot from them. I just got my PPL and would love to meet/fly with you sir. If your ever in PDX let me know. I'll be in Phoenix this week visiting my family. God bless y'all!
Well done Katie, your father is a great instructor and with more practice and added confidence, you are well on you way to becoming a full fledged pilot - bless you
That was a complex approach with unusual circumstances. Well done to the both of you! You know, that flight was a great instructional video that I hope gets watched repeatedly.
It's funny, my wife of 46yrs, who is a RN has the same problem. We just decided to use "UP" for left and "DOWN" for right.. LOL.. Great video. Have really missed your flights.
It was interesting to watch as you worked through the flight and transitions. It looks like you can enter changes in altitude and even direction while staying on autopilot. It looks like that would be a fun plane to fly. And Katey did well for a relatively new pilot. Congratulations. Dave
Very cool! I'm currently going through IFR training, so I really appreciate seeing the in-depth look into the enroute and approach segments of the flight. I've flown to KTVL VFR once, it's too bad the smoke was covering up the beautiful views. Thanks for the great video!
nice landing Katey .. wow that controller was busy .. sheeesh . very interesting to see in these smokey conditions .i have a cousin that lives in south tahoe
I flew into Minden MEV in my bonanza a few days ago, just east of tahoe and ended up flying in and out IFR due to the smoke. Pretry much the same experience
Very scary approach..was holding my breath here..just check out Greg's Premiere1 Driver video of landing and taking off, and flying over this every large lake right in the mountains...on a beautiful perfect day...
Bug looked like she was falling asleep. Also, on final approach I wasn't clear who had the controls. It didn't sound like Bug wanted them, so the handoff wasn't exactly clear. Seems risky at minimums to not know who has the controls.
Nice flight - thank you for sharing it with us! @Katy - if this „LeftRight-thing“ really gives you a hard time, then just do as my neighbour did... on his 50th birthday he got himself a R & L tattooed on the inside of his thumbs - and he said „my life would have been a lot easier if i had done this 30 years ago.“ Greetings from Gernany ... Save landings👋🏻
Great flight. Seems you have to set descent rate every time. Is there a default you can set to save that extra step? Katie did a commendable job. Thanks for sharing.
It's been really awful for vfr flying these last 4-5 weeks. Thankfully the smoke has finally cleared and its blue skies again. Nice job flying and on the radios, Katey.
I love your channel and I
Love your approach to your flying. Competence without arrogance, caution without timidity, attention to detail without tunnel vision.
I’m Vietnam veteran female pilot so proud to see this young lady, just keep on flying and lodging the hours 👍
It warms my heart that Katey is flying left seat with Dad on the right!!!! You go, girl !!
Amazing video!! Been watching these for several years now and this is one of my favorites! So much detail that I can't even imagine understanding as a non-pilot. Thank you for sharing

I can only imagine how proud you must be of your daughter. Safe landings!
❤️

This has been so fun watching Katie starting to fly. You are an incredible instructor and mentor to your Daughter!
Found your channel by chance, very much enjoying what I have seen so far.
That approach was CRAZY. Great job, especially to Katie!
You are a Great Instructor for your daughter!!!
We missed you Malibu Flyer it has been a while since you posted your amazing videos!!
Cheers,

Now I finally have an idea for the first useful tattoo! Who would have thought I would ever say that ^^
An old Navy admiral had a wooden box in his stateroom, and he would always close the door in the morning and look in the box.
Wow, that's a heck of a first approach! Good job Katey for not getting rattled!
I think I speak for every person when I say your daughter is adorable and you teaching her to fly is heart warming.
Missed you guys.....great job Captain Katie (with a bit of help from dad) :)
Fun video, I was behind you in a Comanche awaiting IFR release when you cancelled to depart VFR, Never been to KFFZ before, man that place is a circus. Wow. That was some vectoring going on 😳 I feel for that controller with the AAL doing opposite, on top of everything else... Great work you two 👌

Here are two of the luckiest people in the world. Never take this kind of experience for granted! (I'm sure you don't, but I had to say it)
Wow. First approach, IMC in a Malibu, with Dad getting hypertensive turning in circles from the right seat. Great video, and thanks for what you do.
Enjoy your videos with your daughter Katey. Very proud of her as I'm sure that you are! Being as I have 3 daughters of my own I know how proud Dad's can be when our kids accomplish great things. I'm confident she's going to be a great pilot.

That was one heck of a flight! I was on the edge of my seat. Great job guys!
Great job, Katey (and Kory, too) !
WOW! Amazing and professional flying for the both of you! Personally I can't wait to get IFR ticket and enough PIC time to start flying angel flights.

Thank you. We cancelled on the rollout actually and you make a good point. I should have left it in.
good job teacher and student good luck and GOd Bless.
Glad you guys could see, I think I lost a couch cushion watching this.
Awesome video! I was a little nervous about that airspeed on final but I’m sure you could feel the plane and adjusted as needed!
Cory great to see you in air.👍👍👍👍
Welcome Back! Thanks for taking the time to produce this video for us and congrats to your new personal chauffeur. Also cudos for the flight to assist someone in need.
Superb
Very enjoyable and instructive to watch.
Thank you.
You're not alone, Katey. I announce baseball games and was constantly getting confused about whether the ball went to right field or left field. That was amazing to watch. Thank you!
Omg. She’s adorable.
Great flight! You are a patient instructor and your daughter is well on her way to being a great pilot herself!
Boy,,, That Was Great,,,, What a Great Trip,,,, What a Great Video.... "Daddy" and "The Girl",,, So Special,,, Great Team,,,,
Good job Katie. You are a very good pilot. Your father has taught you well. Keep up the good work.
Great flight guys and well done on the IFR into the landing,
Your daughter Katie is coming along just fine thanks for having us along.
Part of the fun in watching your videos is your caps. It seems you have a different cap for each flight!
When I was training a US Navy Air Traffic GCA controller, she wrote an "L" and "R" on the back of each hand.
I've missed flying with you the past few months. Great job Katey! Congratulations on the PP license to learn. Can't wait for the return flight.
Its good to see your back on the channel, I was looking forward to your videos, I learned alot from them. I just got my PPL and would love to meet/fly with you sir. If your ever in PDX let me know. I'll be in Phoenix this week visiting my family. God bless y'all!
Enjoyed that video very much. Thanks for having us along.
So glad to have a new video! You've been missed! I'm based at your sister airport, Falcon Field in Georgia. Hope to make it to yours someday.
Very cool! You must be the proudest dad to see your daughter fly. Scary too, to sit right seat, for a change, in your own plane (!).
Great video! we want to see Katey flying often!
Well done Katie, your father is a great instructor and with more practice and added confidence, you are well on you way to becoming a full fledged pilot - bless you
Glad to see this video. I have been missing them.
Your in a great position to be able to do what you do and be able to do it with your daughter. Can't get much better than that.
That was a complex approach with unusual circumstances. Well done to the both of you! You know, that flight was a great instructional video that I hope gets watched repeatedly.
Well Done Katey and Father... Great Guidance and Instruction for the new IFR Student ';-) I enjoyed the ride and safe journey back!
Excellent work by Kate.
Awww I love her freckles :D
Awesome to see Katie taking controls of the Malibu!
It's funny, my wife of 46yrs, who is a RN has the same problem. We just decided to use "UP" for left and "DOWN" for right.. LOL.. Great video. Have really missed your flights.
You two are awesome.

I love your videos, keep going like this.
Awesome video! I just got my instrument rating a few days ago.. looking forward to some fall IFR in East Texas
Congratulations on your rating! It seems like all of my actual IMC is in eastern Texas... no shortage there.
I loved your conversation and looks! Great video! Keep up the good work Katey, I hope you're enjoying your Cherokee 180!
Good job Katey, good to see you i the air again!
Thank you for all of the freaking commercials!
Great job guys.
Nice work dad and daughter!
Interesting flight, thanks for the video. You two are a fine crew!
Great video thank you. I'm sure we were all in the cockpit flying with you.
Great to see another video. Well done both of you.
nice landing Katey .. wow that controller was busy .. sheeesh . very interesting to see in these smokey conditions .i have a cousin that lives in south tahoe
btw is Katey right handed? .. tell her she writes with her right hand .. right? hahaha easy way to remember
Thank you for hat logo! If you know what I mean. Got the app. Great music. The flying was great also.
Glad to hear you like it!
I flew into Minden MEV in my bonanza a few days ago, just east of tahoe and ended up flying in and out IFR due to the smoke. Pretry much the same experience
Beautiful panel. Examining my options, a late 80s Malibu is in the top 3.
My favorite pilot:)
Very scary approach..was holding my breath here..just check out Greg's Premiere1 Driver video of landing and taking off, and flying over this every large lake right in the mountains...on a beautiful perfect day...
First - nice job Katie! 👍🏻 Like a pro. And great to see a new video from you! Safe landings.
Great landing, Kate.
Bug looked like she was falling asleep. Also, on final approach I wasn't clear who had the controls. It didn't sound like Bug wanted them, so the handoff wasn't exactly clear. Seems risky at minimums to not know who has the controls.
Really. really enjoyed that one. Katy is going to be a good one.
Nice! Great approach! This smoke is a pain in the rump.
I have 3 daughters and I have made that same face more times than I can count!!! Ps.. Nice job Katie!
Great job!
It was fun watching both of you.
that was one stressfull looking flight... great job!
Nice flight - thank you for sharing it with us!
@Katy - if this „LeftRight-thing“ really gives you a hard time, then just do as my neighbour did... on his 50th birthday he got himself a R & L tattooed on the inside of his thumbs - and he said „my life would have been a lot easier if i had done this 30 years ago.“
Greetings from Gernany ... Save landings👋🏻
Thank you for the video nice flying
i watch all of your videos
Congratulations to your daughter
Wow that was a busy one, and that smoke, IFR almost all the way down.
Beautiful family. Wonderful gifts you bring to others.
Great flight. Seems you have to set descent rate every time.
Is there a default you can set to save that extra step?
Katie did a commendable job.
Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video - Well done Katey..
Love to see Ladies flying, I love it when I see a F.O. or Capt. flyong Airlines
Wow, she has come so far from being the little girl flying along with dad in the right seat.
It's been really awful for vfr flying these last 4-5 weeks. Thankfully the smoke has finally cleared and its blue skies again. Nice job flying and on the radios, Katey.
