I just wanted to add in that I just bought one and it is amazing. I was on the fence for spending that kind of money for a game cabinet as I had been burned in the past with subpar build quality and customer service. 100% not the case. Extreme and David were 100% a pleasure to deal with. Super responsive on any question I had before I bought. And they were never pushy on upgrades or anything. I priced matched all of their accessories and extras and found that their pricing was actually better than what I could get. After I got the machine Extreme has been again super responsive on any questions I had or help I needed with a setting or config. And to say that their build quality is top notch is an understatement. Not only as a PC builder, but also as a cabinet builder these things are works of art. Cannot say enough good things about Extreme or their products.
Bought mine in 2017. Best purchase I ever made . It’s more than an arcade , it’s a work of art. Also could have just done PC or things like that, but as an arcade kid, in the 80s,90s, the feel of it was what I wanted. The best part about it is Every person who sees it , I ask was there a game u loved or played as a kid? Even people who r non gamers always have something obscure or a fond memory . When u see the look in their eyes, the excitement of playing that again it’s amazing . Everyone asks , how much was it ? I ask them to guess. The lowest I’ve had it 15k, highest is 100k. Just got my omega upgrade yesterday, installing today. It the centerpiece of my man cave/ game room. Even my wife who was like..don’t u have an Xbox?? Was blown away…im sure u can take months or years building ur own, but doubtful it will look the way this does, and the ease of it . When u look at how much money on eating out daily , Starbucks etc each year …to own something like this is cheap imo. Great video:)
I just put an order in for mine last week, the work daves team does will leave you breathless, you really just need to see it to believe it. Not to mention the amazing and helpful community around it. There is just simply no competitor out there quality wise and ill be glad to spend 2 years paying off my personal loan to own this holy grail for my game room!
@@thomgizziz still incredibly happy with my purchase, 2 years for the grail of my game room is nothing when i spent 5 years paying off a car and am looking at 30+ on a house. I work hard to afford things i like, i dont have the time to be building a machine like this and honestly the community alone has made me stay satisfied with my purchase, all great people with similar interests and are very helpful whenever anybody has questions. You dont get anything nice in life without taking on debt!
10k is insane but without knowing what an average arcade system goes for, that might not be that bad of a deal however I think the bigger issue is the 70k game selection - I have a hard time deciding what to play with 10 to 20 games, let alone 70k.
For us overkill on games. It’s just a good conversation piece . I’m going for more working system and game that’ll be played over numbers in my build. There’s a lot of ps1-ps2-/ps3 that are useless and will ever be played but take up a lot of HD space
Wood = 200 art= $100 Controls= $400 50 inch tv=%500 PC for emulation= $700 Assembly and shipping $8000 Really not worth it !!! Personally for my desktop gaming system I find anything over 27 inches too large to enjoy. On larger screens I have to turn my head to see my health or other stats and enemies can be out of my IRL field of view. Couch gaming is ok on larger screens as you are sitting back from them but the locations of the arcade controls puts you too close to a large screen! Let me put this into perspective, a $259 Atgames Legends gamer pro and a 50 inch TV and you can do everything this can do! Granted the controls on the Atgames are not full arcade quality. The Atgames controls aren't full arcade quality but they are close enough that even though I have replaced the controls on every other arcade system I have used in the past ( usually with Ultimarc controls) I have not bothered to replace the Atgames controls.
@@mynameisprivate158 i agree, you can make this far cheaper at home given a little bit of elbow grease and know how. Still bad ass if you are uber rich but sadly most of us arent and dont have 10k to throw away.
This would be the ultimate mancave addition. The $10k (or even the base price) would be a little too much for me to swallow though, especially because I know I wouldn't end up playing it as much as I should. But, you can't deny the cool factor, every arcade era kids dream come true.
@@FPChris I could only justify it if I was 12 yrs old again with 5k that no one knew about. I bought a super Nintendo mini and even though I jailbroke it the novelty wore off pretty quick, this would be the same at 20x the price.
So with 10K you still don’t get a steering wheel with pedals. I like driving games and that’s one thing none of these guys demo because it’s not practical. I can’t play Spy Hunter, RoadBlaster, Hard Drivin, Outrun! WTF
I can afford 10K for this, easily. But my dad taught me the value of money. So I'm not paying 10 grand to play Pac Man. I'd rather spend 85 cents on a good used Moby Dick. @@FPChris
Great video. The price point scares the hell out of me. But one thing for sure I would buy one of those instead of being one of those guys with every Arcade 1up. I mean instead of buying like 14 Arcade 1ups for $600 apiece just buy that. Plus it wouldn't take up as much space.
I agree 10k is too much. Yes, there's tons of features. Will it hold up without the updates? In the long run.. I believe so. It's a real gamble because I (the buyer) lack the knowledge to fix the unit if it breaks. I still say that the Megacade cost to much.but I still want one. Badly. I'm looking into pedestal. To save in cost I'm picking out items to make the price more affordable. I want to be able to buy it in full. Before I place a order.
Cons: 1) Price. (No SSDs for 10 grand? come on...) 2) Takes up too much physical space (when was the last time you had 4 people playing co-op on your couch?) 3) Tech support will not be there forever. AFTER the company closes/shuts down, YOU and only you will be left with updating the software and hardware to make sure it runs smoothly. My solution and I know it's not for everyone, was to buy the best gaming laptop I could get to play the latest PC games, install Hyperspin, and setup the retro consoles and ROMS I actually play on a 1TB SSD (let's be honest you wont be playing Atari games every single day). So far I'm half-way through the 1TB memory and have MAME, PS1, PS2, N64, NES, SNES, TG16, Dreamcast, Wii U, and the best Switch ROMS, yes the laptop handles even the latest Switch games via emulation with no problem (I don't even think I saw Wii U or Switch games on the gaming setup in the video which again at 10 grand is NOT worth it). Lastly, I built myself a 2 player joystick on a pedestal which I can set in place in front of the large TV mounted on the wall, and when I am done I just move it over to the closet. Probably not even $2K with all said and done.
10.000$ for the ultimate experience including the entire computergaming-history? We should think about the amount of history which is implemented, it's the perfect culmination. Yes, it's worth it! Unfortunately I never will afford this gem, but yes, if I could, I would instantly!
Entire computergaming-history? I doubt it's anywhere close to comprehensive. Doesn't even have Vita or Switch games. Doubt there's text adventures, MUDs, discontinued MMOs. It has a lot of games but probably less than half of what has existed. Most games, when you consider the vast volume of shovelware, you wouldn't even want cluttering up the catalog.
Nah, get a custom cab from recroom masters when they set up shop again, just drop a PC in there and you can get just about everything you see here without coughing up 10k lol, this is a big dick purchase, not needed whatsoever to get that arcade feel.
10k is too steep. If it was 5-7k I feel that would be a value proposition. 10k is probably fair for everything you get but it's definitely not a "heck of a deal" or anything like that.
@@mariahanover9335 I think you're taking it too literally. MAME alone on the machine is an actual ongoing historical preservation project. So he is right.
I own a Megacade from EHA, and I love it!!! One pinball machine and an old Mrs. PAC-Man would be the same price and you could play two games instead of 69,998 more!!! It is an amazing machine for true gamers! Awesome video too!
I don't mind pay $10k for EVERYTHING. Just replaced my roof last year and that cost $11k. You can spend $10k on the interest and property taxes on your home in one year. Need to replace my carpet soon... that will probably cost $6-8K. It's all about how you look at it. I've spent a lot of money on cheaper emulation (pandora, pi emulators, xbox, etc.) and other than a modded original Xbox that still works after 20 years, emulation is disappointing. Slow down, muddled audio, missing games, busted ROMs, etc. The video game magazine thing and marquee are nice touches. Honestly, what you've shown is perfection. I'll probably wait until I retire in a few years to get one.
Thanks for the review, I ended up building my own and it's light years ahead in computer specs :100 tb hard disk space, multiple SSD, 3080Ti, 4k screen etc. However, It did take ages to build and much more money than 10k, so be warned people 😆!
@1 correct, add to that full ps3, Xbox, Xbox 360, ps2, ps1 over 700 pc games and all the other consoles and you get an idea how massive things can get...
I was on my "YOLO" stuff when i purchase my Megacade. I always want an arcade since my teenager years. When looking at @games and Arcade1Up, I kept going back to the Megacade videos and just had that "I must have one" vibes at any cost. Sat down with the family and made milestones to get one. Now I don't play it much because of always feeling tired after work but I love looking at my place. Easy conversation starter, so on and so on. Mines as old as DThomas arcade so all the new bells and whistles on this video. I believe $8K was basically everything at the time.
I love this and really identify with being too tired to enjoy things like this as much as I want to, especially after getting an auto-immune disease. This is kind of my M.O. with high price nostalgia items. But it's hard to quantify the feeling that all these things continue to give me, even as I pass by them in my daily life. It's the ability, at any moment, to return to my childhood. It is life brightening, and is worth it to me even though, more often than not, it's just walking by and knowing, hey - maybe this weekend? There's a hopeful peace in that.
Glad you and your family decided to put in place a plan to finance something you barely look at these days. Manbabies need to stop playing with toys and wasting money on them.
i got a used arcade cabinet for free that needed some work. I probably spend more time working on the cabinet itself than actually playing the games. It's cool when I have guest over but I rarely have time to play it or just too tired from long hours of work.
@@wolffactor56 oh nice! You right i had more fun restoring it. Took out all the interior, replace it with a newer pc, new screen, new 4 players lights up button, better speakers and even repainted the whole arcade. It looks great now and I even have nice ddr setup for it. I’m looking forward to my nephew and nieces to grow up so they can experiences what we had growing up at the arcade.
If money was no object, sure I would like to own something like this. But I have spent many years playing on emulators from the original Xbox up to now, I can honestly say I only play a handful of games. It was real nice to have all these games at your fingertips at first, but after a while it felt something hollow. That's why I started collecting physical copies of games I enjoy and stay with that. Collecting for Nintendo Switch is my main focus right now, something about it tells me it's worth it.
@steveaustin7846 I have physical copies and I love them but they are annoying and takes a lot of work to switch between system's and then controllers are not charged or things don't work. The mega seems soo much more convenient. I will never give up my physical stuff but I find I play the older stuff less and less.
Appreciate it Kenny, it's sweet but I couldn't fit this in my gameroom. I would need a 2 player machine that doesn't stick out so far. But my buddy loves it and has the space
Show-Me Retro, I'm glad you guys had a good experience with the machine. I bought a Tabletop version of this from Extreme Home Arcades, but my experience was quite different. The outer hardware and controls were great, but the PC parts and software were HORRIBLE. The WORST over $4,000 I ever spent. Just turning it on and having it work is a crap shoot (and this is from day one). I have to re-seat both the boot and game drives every time I want to play it and even then it takes multiple boots. Then you can't choose more than three games, or play it for more than 10 minutes (even less sometimes) before it randomly goes to a Windows screen. The experience is a total disaster. It's a pretty thing to look at if you just want to turn it on and not play it, just having the Hyperspin randomly show cool animations of games, but for over $4,000, that alone isn't worth it. I'm so glad Arcade1up and iiRcade came out. Sure, it's not 70,000 plus games, but at least the things work. Again, I'm glad you and your friend enjoyed it. Maybe you got a good one :) vgv
Wow, that's unfortunate to hear. Have you contacted EHA? I called the number they give out and the owner answered on the second ring and game me some info on the pc.i would hope they would back up their product especially if it's software related?
Show-Me Retro, Yeah, I did back in the day. So many phone conversations and the re-seating trick was their biggest solution. Could this still be fixed? Maybe, but I lost confidence with so much back and forth troubleshooting that there just came a time where I had to cut my losses. Believe me, A LOT of phone conversations. Extreme Home Arcades was just not the solution for me. I just need something that works, and for $4,000+, I thought this would be it. Instead, I got something I have to continually troubleshoot (from day one out of the box). I'll tell you, I almost cry every I turn it on, which I rarely do now that I have other machines that work from other companies. I've spent more time fixing the Extreme Home Arcades machine than playing it. And others who have bought this product have had similar issues as I watched videos from people, even when the company was called Dream Home Arcades. Such a huge money mistake for me. And that's why I was wary when Arcade1up then came into the market. Thank goodness it was a lower risk financial investment, and thankfully Arcade1up eventually made some decent machines. I'm so glad we now have other companies like Arcade1up and iiRcade that make true plug n' play solutions and that work. I just want to game :) Thanks for your message (and video) and I hope continued working condition for your friend's machine :) vgv
@@videogamevegasYeOldeAccount You should have sent back the drives back and had them look at it. I know you can mail the drives back to them if you have issues. Why didn't you do that?
tom11zz884, Thank you for your interest. The mention of sending drives back did come up several times, but what I got back every time was, "let's see if this works, let's see if that works, we can always replace the drives if need be," and I was willing to send them back, and let them know I'd send them back, but they kept telling me, "we don't understand how could it be both drives, it must be something else." After months of back and forth, I just got to the point of frustration and couldn't personally deal with it any more. The head of the company was always professional, but it didn't seem like anyone knew a solution. I had to come to the realization that I got a bad one, which was an over $4,000 mistake. And even down to so many simpler things (and I won't list them all): - Like having duel spinners installed to play pong, letting them know that game specifically, only to have both spinners only work for player one and being told "here's how to make the change" going into make the change that didn't end up working and then being told, "I know there's a setting to change that somewhere and you just need to search around." - Or question if something could be set a certain way and hearing "I'm sure you can try something to make it work," - Or the coin buttons added to the front of the machine not working for each applicable emulator and being told, "yes they do, we made sure they work for all games." It's clear to me that Extreme Home Arcades are a hardware company, sans the PC parts, and know how to make a decent cabinet shell and control placement. However, from my long laundry list of troubleshooting, they don't understand the software side or the PC hardware side. It feels to me they got an incomplete Hyperspin build and tried to make it work, or tried to build something from scratch with a huge rom dump, and couldn't translate it to the controls. Because I spent so much money, I took the time, SO MUCH TIME, to work with them. But I think there's a breaking point in everyone, and I feel I fought tooth and nail to get everything to work and never got solutions to any issue that cropped up. I have toyed with the possibility of getting with a 3rd party who knows the software side of things to build me a decent Hyperspin build to put into this machine, but I'm afraid it's more than a drive problem, could be cabling, or even the motherboard itself, and not to mention the nightmare of configuring the so many controls I have on the thing, myself. I don't know if I want to spend more months troubleshooting the thing, when there are now companies out there that have figured it out and aren't charging a small fortune on a single machine; companies like Arcade1up, iiRcade, and Unico, make me feel like they have my back (at least more than Extreme Home Arcades) and are actual plug and play solutions. Thanks again for your query and I hope this helps. vgv
Appreciate this video alot. People think its crazy to pay so much for it and I certainly understand… but they don’t understand truly how much is on the machine. Im constantly learning more and loving it the more i learn. Its such a blast!
It's an investment. Some people like buying cars, others like playing awesome arcade cabinets! I get my money right and I'll def look into one of these!
I built my own. For what they offer, it is slightly overpriced. As long as you take the time to do your research, it's not that difficult. If I can do it, anyone can.
Not sure it's an investment. It's a nice piece but none of it is historical or original, so I don't think it would ever appreciate. That's not saying it's not worth it, just that I don't think it's an investment. Cars in general aren't investments either, they usually depreciate. Special edition cars is what you want to buy as an investment.
Great vid yo. I bought my pedestal a few years back from Dave at around 7k and have enjoyed it almost every single day since. Literally turns this baby on every day and play something. I would buy it again in a heartbeat
This really is amazing. That price tag is heavy though. I wish I was more handy to make the cabinet myself. I can do all the software and computer building aspects. That machine is beautiful though for real. Good review.
I love the screen marquee. I just can't spend that much money for the megacade. I bought a cabinet from the arcadeguys and can't wait to get it. Maybe it in the far future I'd consider seeing if I could mod it to have one of those marquee screens.
That was a very nice review. I am considering getting a multiple-game arcade cabinet once my latest venture takes off and I have money to burn. I am impressed with this machine, because it looks like it has so many games, and I like how it displays the side art virtually. I will go to the website and see if it has a game list and specs.
Great video. I would take this over a room full of 1ups Any day. You get something awesome , save a ton of space and get quality and something you can use forever.
Well said, one kick ass multicade is far superior ro 20 1ups in a makeshift arcade. There is no comparison and yes look at all the space you would have for a sweet pinball machine 😉
Very balanced approach to this topic. I had an issue with doorway size, which was the main reason I went with 43" GRS for the cab/art (modular). Being as how I am expert level at wiring/soldering/electronics/computers, it was a no brainer for me to build my own. But once you talk adding guns, LCD marquees, and other options, 10K isn't even that bad. I have a bit more beef under the hood, but I'm talking just under 5K with: No LCD Marquee, no guns, GTX1650 from my kid's PC (he got upgraded to GTX3070, yes he's a spoiled brat always complaining about frame rates to his CIO/CTO grandpa), 1 car amp plus a powered subwoofer I already had (have two car amps in there total), and a shitload of wiring (and troubleshooting) of both AC & DC circuits. 10K for that system, is not only fair, it seems like the margins are pretty damn low for the work it takes to assemble.
I always wanted to mess around with electronics but always worried about wrecking things or getting shocked. Instead I got into welding and got shocked from that haha
Watched a few videos and the videos are great! I subscribed. The quality of this arcade cabinet is crazy compared to all the others I have seen. If we had these back in the 90s it would have been heaven for a 80s kids like me
I spent about $1500 at GameRoomSolutions for a 4 player cabinet kit fully wrapped and shipped in flat pack for me to assemble, $600 for a small used PC with a 1650gpu, $700 for an 8tb ssd, $300 for sinden lightguns, like $20 for remote led light strips, and have been working on it part time for the last 8 months learning how to get everything to work together with launchbox/bigbox. My cabinet isn't "finished" but has provided many a fun game night. I might finish it one day, but more likely I'll just keep tweaking the loadout for the most possible fun. I didn't spend $10k in money, but one could argue I've spent more than that with my time. Either way I don't regret my decision to finally jump in on this project.
If I had the money to spend on it, hell yeah i would get that. Pretty much the ultimate machine for all retro games. It looks expensive. 10k actually aint bad for it. Add up all the money you and your parents actually spent on consoles and games. I love that ff7 remake design 2
Wow, this vid is doing well! It doesn't always feel fair, but the truth is that there are highly premium products at premium prices available to those who can afford them. I think this is extravagant, but if the buyer is happy who am I to judge? I'm more of a "struggle to decide if a $200 minicade is worth it" kind of guy, lol. At any rate, your coverage was done well and it was a pleasure to see how the more well off enjoy their gaming.
Like I said in the video it's not for everyone, myself included. There are people that literally spend millions on a car so yeah who are we to judge. A lot of people have taken offense to this video in the comments and I really don't get the hate, It was never intended to trigger people. My friend wanted me to check it out and I thought it might make a great topic for a video, nothing more.
That is one slick piece of kit! Absolutely perfect for his purposes. Great analogy compared to a bathroom remodel, sometimes the support and convenience is worth it's weight in gold.
I imagine the majority of people that can afford to buy it don’t really need to worry if the price is worth it. It’s mainly aimed at wealthy people or enthusiasts willing to spend that kind of money for an arcade cabinet.
Yes, they paying a lot of money for a piece of wood and a monitor, that's it. Those games are free, you can download them into your PC and make your own arcade machine on your PC. But yeah they are way overpriced. 1,000 to 1,500 might be a fair price for the cost of woods, monitor, labor work. But no way in hell it's worth 5,000 and up. They are crazy greedy people.
2 yrs ago...probably cost about $5000 for the same unit. Its honestly hard to me to purchase ANYTHING at this point because price gouging is so bad right now. Must be nice to have extra money to waste on novelties.
Waste? I can hear your whinny tone...some people can't be happy for others, they just whine and complain and try( and fail )to mask their jealousy. Grow up.
Great video thanks for sharing..can I ask an off topic question..on wall behind you you have a cool monaco scoreboard..may I ask where you got that from? thanks again
Thanks, well long story short I got the marquee at a game convention then had a local vinyl shop do the digital score graphics and myself and a friend built the box and I used leds to light it up. Here is a link about it if you're interested th-cam.com/video/5-M2IrQt1zE/w-d-xo.html
I’ve heard about the guys channel and 10k is a lot to throw into an arcade but props to the guy who could drop that much and not feel bad. In his lifetime he will never play 70,000 games but not bad, I just own a Pandora Box 3D 20s and ps2-4 and an AT games sega Genesis so not much.
First off, beautiful machine. I think a lot of people look at Megacade at some point in their arcade itch. Whether it's feasible financially or not, it's definitely on their radar/wish list. I built my own using the now discontinued Microcenter kit and used PC for around $600ish. If arcade gaming was my sole or biggest hobby I would 100% gotten the Megacade. Maybe at some point I'll still get one for the gun games.
I just want something full size that is ready to go. Arcade 1 up is too small, I don't have the skills to build my own, Amazon sells sketchy cabinets for over $2k. Gonna check out this one. At 6'3" I need a full size arcade
I've been seeing a lot of cheap cabinets being advertised on Facebook but I can only imagine how bad the quality is for those. This megacade blew my mind. wow, just wow.
I would definitely buy one I don't know about everyone else but I would definitely slowly enjoy this megacade and what I mean by that is for example instead of trying to play everything at once I rather be surprised by what's on there because if you try to play everything on it you get bored with it quickly But it just something I would do
Reading some of the reviews about 10Gs that it seems overpriced. Really pondering about it and seeing the Quality of it all custom customizable to your liking. I think it fairly priced. Because if you have Multiple game Consuls with certain games I’m pretty sure it’s more than 10,000 especially how everything retro is skyrocketing with gamers and everyone in between. Really dig the magazine stand & jukebox music. Set it & play for days
I currently own an OG mega Cade since 2020 myself and looking to upgrade to the Omega soon but so far I’ve loved everything about this machine and knowing I’m not alone in this journey makes it even better S/O all my gamers!!!
You can build this yourself for around 1200...10k is absolutely too much. Buy switches, wire them into a keyboard mapper, have MDF sheets CNCd, assemble, buy a preconfigured Launchbox harddrive and youre good to go
Update I been doing research and I went with Arcade-ones PC setup. I bought the 16tb version they sale 2 tb 8tb Pinball only drives, They sale the same thing software size as EHA on a CPU at a fraction of the cost, what I love about it is the flexibility to move it from room to room from 75 inch to 55 to monitor. and when I am ready I will build my own unit \ cab I will install it. I am using a tank stick added a spinner, There support to get you up and running if you have any problems is top notch and for a product out the box it is one of the most polished and the fact he has been doing it for years means he has mastered it. A lot of people sell hyperspin but IMO nobody's support can match his I hooked up Sinden guns followed Video instructions and all is good. Remember Nothing is perfect, Here is the thing with emulation there is always work and tweaking but the rewards are amazing. I love the extreme home polished product though.
Great video, looked into a megacade and price scared me bought a cabinet and modded it myself very easily and bought a drive. I love my setup but that megacade is a beast. Never liked the 1up machines, didn’t look right small and look like kids machine kinda a knock off look.
I built my own full size arcade in the mid 2000s with little carpentry skills, but followed a blueprint that someone posted on how to make the cuts for each piece. The PC portion was easy enough and just ran straight MAME. It had a 27" CRT and no artwork besides a generic MAME marquee which I had printed from a plotter where I worked. Ran great for the time I had it, but eventually I decided to take it all apart and scrap it. Wish I kept it around as I don't feel like making another one. I'm kinda waiting to see if Arcade1UP will release more pro versions of their cabinets. I don't need 10,000+ games, just a dozen or so of my favorites. This Megacade looks sharp, but way overpriced for me.
That IS pretty cool though, and honestly the FF7 theme to it kinda wins me over that much more. But that price point, oof, yeah, maybe I'll just visit like you did. ;-)
I’ve always been on the fence about the Megacade since I first learned of it. It’s a hefty price tag.. even more so for a Canadian like me. But your review has helped me realize it’s a worthy investment.. once I get a house of my own first.
Looks great. 10 G is definitely too steep for me. 2-3 grand is the most I would pay. Buying the big box or whatever sounds like a great lower price option ( then building the rest on your own).
@@ultraspinalki11 It's been so long that I'm not completely sure, but I suspect I was talking about the launch box big box emulation. You buy the software for a couple of hundred dollars, then you build a cheaper arcade cabinet using different services. It runs on PC, so basically you have a pc running the games. Not sure if they provide the roms or not.
@@ultraspinalki11 Launchbox/Big Box is what's called a front end software. It merely allows you to organize your games and access the emulators in a clean single location. You need to install individual emulators to play the actual games. BigBox automates most of those emulator downloads. The roms (game files) you have to go find yourself. (Mostly super easy)
Is it allot of money? Yes… But I’ve done allot of research and watched allot of videos. And this machine has allot that other machines don’t. #1. The marquee that changes to the game your playing (well that’s just freaking AWESOME!! ) #2. a nice computer inside not just a raspberry pi. #3. The build which is not cheap material. #4. the artwork. #5. you have to factor in the cost of each and every component building it, and shipping it. Oh and let’s not forget the insane amount of games that’s inside. If I had the money to buy it, I would buy one in a second, unfortunately I don’t have that type of money laying around. But who knows maybe one day I get lucky and I’m able to own this beautiful machine.
10K is a crazy price. Not saying they aren’t solidly built but this cost more than an actual arcade machine. Either way that being sad, getting the controls/emulators etc. to run and run smoothly is an absolute pain. I’m in the process of getting everything running on my personal arcade machine I built and it takes FOREVER even with Launchbox. There is a lot of games I removed simply because I have zero desire to play old Nintendo, Atari, game boy games, so there is absolutely no need for me to have 70k+ games on my machine. I’m perfectly happy with 30 GB drive and my own PC which is better than what is offered for a fraction of the cost.

Wood = 200
art= $100
Controls= $400
50 inch tv=%500
PC for emulation= $700
Assembly and shipping $8000
Really not worth it !!!

@@mynameisprivate158 I was going to say pretty much this. And you get to have fun building it
This would be the ultimate mancave addition. The $10k (or even the base price) would be a little too much for me to swallow though, especially because I know I wouldn't end up playing it as much as I should. But, you can't deny the cool factor, every arcade era kids dream come true.
even at $5k it's overpriced
@@FPChris
10k ain't worth it there is companies selling do it urself for 1k
Cons:
1) Price. (No SSDs for 10 grand? come on...)
2) Takes up too much physical space (when was the last time you had 4 people playing co-op on your couch?)
3) Tech support will not be there forever.
Like I said in the video, it's not for everybody
I love hyperspin but it's such a pain to set up.

Way too much.
I own a Megacade from EHA, and I love it!!! One pinball machine and an old Mrs. PAC-Man would be the same price and you could play two games instead of 69,998 more!!! It is an amazing machine for true gamers! Awesome video too!

@@show-me-retro This was a really good made video bro. I loved every minute of it.
This is my favorite review of the megacade, quick, to the point, and perfectly illustrates why its totally worth it.

@@ducdu4136 I’m assuming it was more fun restoring it than playing the games. I build arcade cabinets for fun and make a tiny profit.
I love my switch, just did a video on it. I wouldn't spend 10k on it either but I don't judge my friend because he enjoy it
Agreed, I'm collecting physical copies for my ps3 at the moment.
@steveaustin7846 I have physical copies and I love them but they are annoying and takes a lot of work to switch between system's and then controllers are not charged or things don't work. The mega seems soo much more convenient. I will never give up my physical stuff but I find I play the older stuff less and less.
I always wanted one, it’s all you need. Plus looks really cool in your house
Appreciate it Kenny, it's sweet but I couldn't fit this in my gameroom. I would need a 2 player machine that doesn't stick out so far. But my buddy loves it and has the space
Show-Me Retro,
I'm glad you guys had a good experience with the machine.
Maybe you got a good one :)

Wow, that's unfortunate to hear. Have you contacted EHA? I called the number they give out and the owner answered on the second ring and game me some info on the pc.i would hope they would back up their product especially if it's software related?
Show-Me Retro,
Yeah, I did back in the day.
I just want to game :)
Thanks for your message (and video) and I hope continued working condition for your friend's machine :)

I literally had the same experience with mine
@@videogamevegasYeOldeAccount
You should have sent back the drives back and had them look at it.
I know you can mail the drives back to them if you have issues.
Why didn't you do that?
tom11zz884,
Thank you for your interest. The mention of sending drives back did come up several times, but what I got back every time was, "let's see if this works, let's see if that works, we can always replace the drives if need be," and I was willing to send them back, and let them know I'd send them back, but they kept telling me, "we don't understand how could it be both drives, it must be something else."
After months of back and forth, I just got to the point of frustration and couldn't personally deal with it any more. The head of the company was always professional, but it didn't seem like anyone knew a solution. I had to come to the realization that I got a bad one, which was an over $4,000 mistake.
And even down to so many simpler things (and I won't list them all):
- Like having duel spinners installed to play pong, letting them know that game specifically, only to have both spinners only work for player one and being told "here's how to make the change" going into make the change that didn't end up working and then being told, "I know there's a setting to change that somewhere and you just need to search around."
- Or question if something could be set a certain way and hearing "I'm sure you can try something to make it work,"
- Or the coin buttons added to the front of the machine not working for each applicable emulator and being told, "yes they do, we made sure they work for all games."
It's clear to me that Extreme Home Arcades are a hardware company, sans the PC parts, and know how to make a decent cabinet shell and control placement.

Not sure it's an investment. It's a nice piece but none of it is historical or original, so I don't think it would ever appreciate.
That's not saying it's not worth it, just that I don't think it's an investment.

Cool that you built one yourself, good for you

Thanks for making this vid and showing all the features.
Great points made, appreciate the comment 👍
what an amazing video! Question, is it possible to add games to this if theyre not on the original list of games you get?
Yes, you can add games
If I had the money to spend on it, hell yeah i would get that. Pretty much the ultimate machine for all retro games. It looks expensive. 10k actually aint bad for it. Add up all the money you and your parents actually spent on consoles and games. I love that ff7 remake design 2

It doesn't always feel fair, but the truth is that there are highly premium products at premium prices available to those who can afford them.
The support is great...assuming the company is still around in a few years. Great video.

It’s not being jealous it’s the truth. I was looking at one a few years back and it was half that price.
Well That Backfired! Lol At This Whole Hating Comment. #Hater
I am impressed by the top end build. Not gonna say I am not jealous. Hope it is insured.
Here is a link about it if you're interested

@@show-me-retro Thanks alot I will check it out!! really cool!!
@@Quiturcryin thanks, much appreciated
I’ve heard about the guys channel and 10k is a lot to throw into an arcade but props to the guy who could drop that much and not feel bad.
In his lifetime he will never play 70,000 games but not bad, I just own a Pandora Box 3D 20s and ps2-4 and an AT games sega Genesis so not much.
Yeah, I doubt many are so financially secure that they could drop 10k for an arcade machine without a thought.
Seems like an amazing idea maintenance would be a nightmare though
First off, beautiful machine. I think a lot of people look at Megacade at some point in their arcade itch. Whether it's feasible financially or not, it's definitely on their radar/wish list. I built my own using the now discontinued Microcenter kit and used PC for around $600ish. If arcade gaming was my sole or biggest hobby I would 100% gotten the Megacade. Maybe at some point I'll still get one for the gun games.
WOW this video blew up man! Good for you Pat 👍
Thanks Paul, yeah didn't expect that LOL
139k views?! man you doubled your sub count since this video landed. that's incredible! I think I've watched it a dozen times, 😆
Crazy huh? YT is so weird, you just don't know works and what doesn't
You added 2k plus since I posted this 6 hours 😆 wtf YT algorithm
@@paulberres9878 I'm filming some light gun games on it tomorrow morning. We'll see how that goes
I just want something full size that is ready to go. Arcade 1 up is too small, I don't have the skills to build my own, Amazon sells sketchy cabinets for over $2k. Gonna check out this one. At 6'3" I need a full size arcade
Does Cecil need some new friends? I'll bring the beer lol - this machine looks amazing!
I've been seeing a lot of cheap cabinets being advertised on Facebook but I can only imagine how bad the quality is for those. This megacade blew my mind. wow, just wow.
Damn PAT! This video is popping! Great job!
I would definitely buy one I don't know about everyone else but I would definitely slowly enjoy this megacade and what I mean by that is for example instead of trying to play everything at once I rather be surprised by what's on there because if you try to play everything on it you get bored with it quickly
But it just something I would do
FF7: one of my favorite arcade games from the 90s.
It's my friend's favorite game, what can I say 😉
Buy switches, wire them into a keyboard mapper, have MDF sheets CNCd, assemble, buy a preconfigured Launchbox harddrive and youre good to go
I mentioned that in the video
Pat are you getting a megacade? what options will you get with it? Thanks for a great video!
No, unfortunately I couldn't fit one in my gameroom unless it was a smaller 2 player
Man that thing is beautiful. Heard the price tho and dam i could buy a car or two-used sure.
Great video, looked into a megacade and price scared me bought a cabinet and modded it myself very easily and bought a drive. I love my setup but that megacade is a beast. Never liked the 1up machines, didn’t look right small and look like kids machine kinda a knock off look.
Hey, I get it. I'm sure yours is amazing at a fraction of the price
Why not just build another one
Why'd you take it apart after all that work?
I got mine two years ago, and it's still going strong. Obv much cheaper then, but you do pay for quality.
That is awesome, I’m very envious. 😁
That IS pretty cool though, and honestly the FF7 theme to it kinda wins me over that much more. But that price point, oof, yeah, maybe I'll just visit like you did. ;-)
Yeah, it's def not for everyone. Nothing wrong with visiting
Hi, where can I buy the Arcade light that's above your legends pinball machine? I love it!
I actually made that
@@show-me-retro great job... fancy making another one and shipping it to the UK? 🤣
If I had 10k to spare I wouldn't buy a off brand arcade cabinet I'd buy a Stern pinball machine. They make such beautiful machines.
Stern is the shit. I have a good friend that bought a JP premium and it's pretty sick
For one time purchase for all my life 10k is absolutely worth it. ❤️
I’ve always been on the fence about the Megacade since I first learned of it. It’s a hefty price tag.. even more so for a Canadian like me. But your review has helped me realize it’s a worthy investment.. once I get a house of my own first.
Have wanted one for awhile but the price and size is a no go atm. Want to play sunset riders on one
Looks great. 10 G is definitely too steep for me. 2-3 grand is the most I would pay. Buying the big box or whatever sounds like a great lower price option ( then building the rest on your own).
What is the "big box" you mentioned that's the lower cost option?
#1. The marquee that changes to the game your playing (well that’s just freaking AWESOME!! )
#2. a nice computer inside not just a raspberry pi.
A 100% it is worth it because when you're having a bad day you can always step back in your childhood and realize it was not bad Yes it's worth it
"It came out awesome", zooms in on Tifa's Lockharts 😏
Lol, yeah those hi rez images were pretty sweet
That's gorgeous. And they include my ActionMax emulator! 😀
I noticed yo logo has the georgia state on it. We she collaborate I'm in Atlanta! Great video brother
It's MO which is the Show Me state but I'll def check your channel out
