Zig Zag Railway & the Santa Express: A look at an Engineering Wonder

- The Zig Zag Railway was once the only means for NSW railways to link Sydney to Lithgow over the Blue Mountains. A Victorian era engineering wonder which uses a 1:42 grade with a three tired Zig Zag system of rails to get from the top to the Valley floor.
After many set backs the volunteers of the Zig Zag have done an amazing job of bringing an icon of the past back to life for generations to share again.
Join us (and Santa) in this family adventure as we head from Clearance station at the top down the Zig Zag to Bottom Points and return past a tunnel and viaduct system from the past. See stations and signal boxes as well as semyphor signals from a bigone era all from the train hauled by a Baldwin narrow gauge steam locomotive.

Yes, was an absolutely fantastic day all round. I personally went on all three rides to the delight of all the passengers, but you wouldn't have recognised me. I was the guy in the big red suit well wishing everybody a merry christmas and happy new year. I hope to see everyone return for next years big event and see the excitement on their faces. 👍😁
Hi Andrew, thanks for helping make it a great day for all the kids, seeing them in awe of seeing the big guy as well as the train was amazing. I would have liked to have gotten more footage of you but didn't want to video the kids too much and they were always around you for some reason 😉. Maybe next year. Thanks for watching and merry Christmas.
Skipped through a little bit of this, found the interesting parts that were, well interesting😂. Great job Barrie!
It's all interesting depending on your perspective, I personally like the semyphor signals and Victorian infrastructure. See some of the fire damage was interesting too in my opinion. Thanks for watching
No problem, nice little surprise face reveal at the end there. Not that I already knew what you look like
Hmmm first person to notice. More coming as part of the new look.
Such a lovely surprise - what a nice wife you must have
Yeah, it was a great surprise. She had to put up with the big kid with a camera. 🤣
She must love you a lot or something 😉
