    I was laying in that upper bunk in my uncle's RV while driving down the road in the 70's, enjoying that amazing view when all of a sudden, an owl took off and WHAM! Right in the glass. I was picking glass and feathers out of my hair for a week. Good times!

      That was a discount aftermarket radio. The Craig brand was K-Mart, I believe. The stock factory radio would have been AM only.

      Craig radios is what you bought to replace the AM radio with am/fm and sometimes cassette… but didn’t care about the sound and wanted to hook it up to the AM speaker.

    Zack. I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. If I could go back and live in a time as an adult, it would be the 70s. You are not alone. And do t worry about the seat belts fitting as no one used them until the mid 80s.

      The 70s was the era were things started to fall apart. That's when America was still America, but things like the gold standard for the USD went away, and cost of living became higher where wages did not match that growth. You can see in the 90s, the process of destroying the US as a generally liveable nation for all was complete.

    Mom snd Dad Nd 4 kids took a long trip in 1966 in a camper very similar but on a Ford F100 pickup. What an adventure and memories to last a lifetime. We siblings still talk about from time to time. Great video, Zack.

    That's the worst way to make a dually I've ever heard but it's cheaper than narrowing a true dually axle. I also love the sketchiness of how it's just a slide-in camper with a removable cab window. The hatchback rear is interesting. It looks clean and period-correct inside. Manual trucks have a certain honesty about them, they're not made to necessarily drive well but to drive for a long time while doing work.

    I remember one time my friend and I rented one of the 1990s Toyota pickup Uhaul box trucks to move stuff into our apartment. That thing was so sketchy driving at any speed above 45 mph. I can't see how anyone could take one of those on a long-distance move. I would be frightened to drive that thing on the interstate.

    • @cfc1001001cfc
      @cfc1001001cfc ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Manual makes a lot of sense for trucks...you control when the shifts happen and this allows you to engine break down hills, saving your breaks. Staying in lower gears up hills helps to maintain power and torque. They are cheaper to repair and are more durable. Hell, this Toyota Sunrader is 46 years old survivor, and you can tell it hasn't been babied...no telling how many times it flipped its 5 figure odometer around in that time.

    • @bwofficial1776

      I know, they're harder to drive to Starbucks at the mall. You might mess up your manicure having to change your own gears. That shifter can be hard to move if you can't lift anything heavier than a phone.
