    I thought it would be simple. Get a box, fire and forget. Nope. The real world is messy. So many choices, so many pitfalls. I realized I could never know it all well. So begin at the beginning. Verizon for wide coverage, AT&T as backup. Not cheap, but must have solid setup. For the Verizon setup, either MOFI5500 or Insty. Went MOFI. For AT&T, found a third party supplier of router and unlimited SIM. The Verizon isn't set up yet. The third party was set up easily, and works but is limited by AT&T coverage, and deprioritization. Verizon/MOFI, don't know yet. It's a journey. Subscribed to your group, because everything changes and I gotta keep up.

    I love the verizon jetpack system. I am moderate user, combined with satellite TV which feeds me tickers from CNBC etc. I get enough info t OK trade securities effectively, cheaper than my home broadband gave me with my smart tv. Dumb TV better idea, smart tv goes into family gifting now!

    Thanks for all of your help and videos! we're planning a big trip and my wife and I both work remotely (lots of emails and video/zoom calls) so far we moved from our Verizon MIFI 8800L and small Netgear MIMO antenna, and getting ready to install a NOS Pepwave Max Transit (older single modem version that holds 2 SIM cards) and a Poynting 7 to 1 antenna (future proofing our install for modem upgrade at some point) and I just signed up for Tmobile's 100G data plan, and we also have verizon. My big question, is I have no idea how much data is enough? Between our jobs and streaming entertainment at night...how much do the two of you use per month?

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usage depends on many factors - in the member section of our guide to Assessing your Needs, we have a section on determining how much data you need: www.rvmobileinternet.com/assessing. We also have some benchmarks for typical usage for various types of households.
      If you're a member and need additional assistance with this, please do post in the forums so we can further assist.

    RV parked at the ranch in low signal cellular and NO cable rural area. No wifi. Weather station needs 500Mb per month to connect to WU. Need external antenna for low signal and phone. Email. No video. Cell phone has no signal or 1G at best. So chose Alcatel Linkhub GSM $54 with external antennas & phone jack. Elevated antennas. T-Mobile subscription 1Gb per month for $10. If I walk up the hillside, I get 4G on cell phone. Add more data for future webcams.

    Very EASY answer! Visible

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, not an easy answer. Visible is a great service, and may meet the needs of some. But for much of our audience - hot spotting off a smartphone with low priority, throttled hotspot speeds and high ping times isn't reliable enough. Our review: www.rvmobileinternet.com/visible

    What is the best antenna set up to get to get phone service in a house that has a tin roof there is T-Mobile and Verizon but the service is terrible inside of the house

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Phones don't have antennas ports - so you can't use antennas only solutions with them. And we are focused on mobile internet, not stationary home internet or phone calls.

    Been very happy with FMCA unlimited plan, as of this moment I have used 118gb with no throttle down at all. My download speed now is 70Mbps and I have seen it as high as 170mbps and 5Mbps. Happy with FMCA plan and also no contract.

    • @Assassin1959

    • @trboden

      @@Assassin1959 Thanks, we use the Sprint version too, I know they also have a Verizon hotspot (but I think it is quite limited for the price). We normally only see around 15Mbs, which is why I asked.

    I have a Verizon gUDP that I don't use anymore. Verizon says I can transfer the service to someone. Is this something that is still valuable to anyone? Can I sell this or should I just cancel it?

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      gUPDs (the ones from 2011) are not transferrable.

    • @yogiyoda
      @yogiyoda 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MobileInternetResourceCenter -the Verizon rep I spoke with today said I could transfer the service. If she is correct, would anybody be interested? And yes, it's the gUDP that I got with your ebook years and years ago.

    • @MobileInternetResourceCenter
      @MobileInternetResourceCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your rep is wrong. We've not had reports of gUDP surviving transfer in many years.
      You can transfer the number, and the billing responsibility. But the data plan will change in the process. There is no way to keep the gUDP and give it to a new owner.
