Thanks for the insightful video! Just experienced a similar issue that prompted me to search for a solution. In my particular case, there was a back buzz when I'm fretting the 8th fret on the E string and simultaneously playing the octave higher on the C note. The lower string would resonate and have a back buzz. I thought it was a fret leveling issue at first but noticed the buzz was coming from behind the 8th fret. Luckily, I stumbled on this video immediately. Got to fix my issue by filling the nut (superglue and dust from an old nut) and adjusting the truss rod a bit. Got my action at a decent height as well. Again, thanks for this!

Totally agree. Nut depth is crucial, especially on a bass b/c of string gauge. Good video! 👍🏻

Hey nice vid, thanks. I remember I had this same buzz issue with a cheap bass years ago, and I solved it by filling the nut like you did. Instead of paper, Id use kitchen foil, folded to just what was needed. It did the job to suppress the buzz and stayed in place over many change of strings.

Nice bass. My dad has an original 69 Gibson Paul bass and it's the heaviest bass I've ever picked up. It's been in the closet for decades now hardly ever played..
