We sell used guitars at www.StillKickinMusic.com. We aim to make videos that will appeal to our target audience--namely guitar and bass players and musicians of all kinds. We do on videos that show the setups we do on instruments so our buyers see exactly what we did on their guitar. And we also like to show little how-to vids that can help people make their guitar play better.
I do all the guitar/bass work myself and try to make short videos showing any tips or tricks I've learned that might help others with their own guitars. Thanks for stopping by and rock on...

Super Glue Down Popped Up Fret Ends Guitar & Bass Fix! #guitarrepair

Quick video showing how I glue down popped up fret ends. This does take some practice, but once you've done it a few times, you'll get the hang of it. Use E Clips to Prevent Gibson Wraparound Bridge Tailpiece Lean & Tilt Issue

If you can fit one of these "E clips" on the bridge post it may help stabilize the bridge tailpiece. It sho...
Bass or Guitar Truss Rod Max'd Out? Make Spacer / Washer! #fender

Quick vid showing how I made a custom spacer so I could get more out of a max'd truss rod on a Fender bass. You'll see what a pain this can be in the video! A couple easier solutions might be: 1. Buy a second truss rod nut. Ream out the threading with a drill. Then slice off a thin portion of it to make a spacer, or 2. Buy some pre-made truss rod washers. Fender Vintera Jaguar Out of Phase Pickups Wiring Fix -- Easy!

Nice! What about spraying some electrical contact cleaner in there like CRC QD (quick dry)? Does it matter that the dust from the sandpaper is staying inside the guitar? Thanks
Hi, spraying contact cleaner alone would not be enough, but used in conjunction with an abrasive like sandpaper it couldn't hurt. This fix is predicated on a strong physical abrasive cleaning the built up oxidation off the inner sleeve which is what causes a bad/noisy connection. Contact cleaner alone will not do that. As to the dust I usually blow out the jack and electronics compartment with an air gun. But I don't think it produces enough dust for it to do damage anyway. Thanks!
@@stillkickinmusic Thank you. I did continuity tests on my patch cables with a multimeter and found out that one of them wasn't making a really clean connection. I cleaned the ends of the cable with 600 sandpaper and CRC spray and it's good now. Sometimes it's the cable.
ah cool. definitely checking with more than one cable before blaming the jack as the problem is a good idea.
I was about to take it to the guitar store, haha thank you so much

Are all your closed fender type tuners have an access this way?
The "2-pin" style in this vid are SUPER common, so they are the ones I see all the time. I know there are some rounded single-screw sealed. they also have a screw on top for access. otherwise, most have a hole on back of tuner to squirt some lube. Please send me a link to any other sealed Fender tuners you know of. thanks!

Nice! Hope it works out for you!
whats the best order to adjust the intonation with wrap around bridges? do you have to adjust everything first and go fot the intonation last? or can you skip string and pickup heights and do intonation first?
@@herbsman05 I always do string height before intonation. I should do pickup height before but sometimes it ends up being last thing I think of. I guess pickup height could possibly affect intonation so in theory intonation should go last. Cheers

Awesome idea. 👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
you fiixed my guitar
Excellent instructional video. 👍
Thanks 👍
I have to say, through my system I couldn't hear much difference, but owning this Mustang Special myself I can agree that in person I find the various pickup configurations do offer distinct tones. My default starting position is with both inner coils active. Here clean tone has a quality that reminds me of an amplified acoustic guitar. Switching both pickups to their 'outer' coils activates both the bridge and neck pickups together; a configuration not achievable on a strat. Another favourite setting is what I call the Micawber configuration, with the bridge single coil active and full neck humbucker. In total there are 15 pickup settings. not bad for this tidy little swiss army guitar. This is a guitar for life as far as I'm concerned.
Agreed. once you play with it, there are a lot of sounds on tap with this guitar. thanks!
How do you fix the buzzing if the fret rocker finds no popped-up fret? I mean, other than taking the guitar to the shop, how to fix?
So if there is no high fret and you're experiencing buzzing, your choices are many: First fix is to try raising the string height. If that's already as high as you can live with, then try putting more relief in the neck (if buzz in LOW on neck, below 10th fret or so) by loosening the truss rod then lower strings to your desired height and see if that fixes it. If buzz is HIGH on neck above 12th fret try less relief by tightening truss rod and then raising strings to correct height. Sometimes shimming the neck is also an option, depending on where the buzz is located, sometimes even a little filing of a fret or two. Ultimately a full fret level is sometimes necessary. This gets into the area of really needing some experience setting up guitars. But you can teach yourself if you watch some videos and experiment. good luck!
What size are the intonation screws?
@@james8156 oh sorry don’t have that off top of my head. Google knows…
@ I bought the size of the screws at my local Ace but they were the wrong size😡
I like that you included info on the micro-tilt. I have a similar situation and will look into that. Also, I liked those arpeggios(?) you used to double check your intonation. Never seen that done before. Nice video brother!
nice. thanks. Micro-Tilt, a little goes a long way. small adjustments if you want to try it. Pretty much Fender's idea of how to shim a neck with no shim. It works but gets mixed reviews. And the arpeggios never let me down. Once your ear gets to know them, you can hear when one string is even slightly off. cheers!
What are you using to make truss rod adjustments? Mine looks funky and a 4mm or 5 mm are not cutting it
Hi, I don't have that guitar around anymore, but I believe it takes the Fender 3/16" truss rod wrench. Here is a link to one: reverb.com/item/41500597-genuine-fender-t-style-3-16-truss-rod-wrench-004-8693-049 (apparently 3/16" is equal to 4.762 mm.) Most Mexican Fenders have 3/16" truss rod.
You sir, are a freaking legend 😊 The buzzing was driving me nuts! I only had G400, but made a double folded tight roll as suggested, carefully sanded out the sleeve, problem fixed in less than 10 seconds. Eternal gratitude is yours' 😀
Well done 👍 Thanks 🙏 🎉
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
Can super gleu on the guitar nut ,give better sound projection
Hi, I don't think it will improve tone on its own, BUT a better fit in the nut slots will. So if you've got a string loose/vibrating in its slot it will HURT tone and sustain. If you use super glue to improve string stability in the slot it will improve the sound. thanks!
Does that neck feel sticky, because it has that lacquer neck?
Hi, no more than any other Fender with a finished neck. Would be nice to have a satin back though...
Dear sir Does it work on a graphite nut?
@@paullecompte1215 yea it should work fine
@ Thanks a lot for your quick answer!
@@paullecompte1215 your nut will lose the benefit of graphite where you put glue and soda powder...
I have the same but with P90s , it’s my main guitar . Nice and easy instructional video. I think those ran around $700 when they came on the scene
Hi, yea the p90 models are worth the most. Hard to find cause most got humbuckers. I've sold the p90 version for as much as $1500, so they've basically doubled in value. they are a great guitar. cheers
There is much more space between e and b on the nut than between b and g, right? Or is the camera fooling me? That nut should be replaced completely if the string spacing is not even…
Hi, looks like it. Didn't even notice at the time. Sold this guitar 3 years ago, but yea, if it was mine to keep probably replace the nut. thanks!
Great video. I just bought one of these. Apparently it has been in case from new. Is there anyone here who knows about tracking Burns serial numbers?
@@bonwana2275 yes. From 2000 to 2004 they were made by Burns and will say Burns on the headstock. These serial numbers should start BHM and then have four digits. The first digit tells the year. So BHM 1043 is a 2001 Guitar. The serial number will be written laterally across the neck. Later serial numbers also start BHM but may have five or six digits. First few transition years after 2004 might still be first digit, but after about 2008 the first two digits tell the year. So BHM15131 would be a 2015 model and will be written vertically on the back of the headstock.
@stillkickinmusic thanks. Looks like mine is 2002. It has barely been played.
@ sounds nice!
Hi, how much does it weigh? I'm looking for one
Hi, this one weighed 9lbs, 2oz. Sold a few years ago, but they are great guitars. good luck!
Seymour Duncans would be an upgrade although the original electronics are perfectly acceptable just like in Squier Classic Vibe series instruments.
sure. the originals are not bad. But Duncans sound pretty good! cheers
Sweet
yup a real nice one! pretty rare too...
What about a locking nut?
I’m making a baritone telecaster "parts aster" (all fender parts) With the new bari neck, I have remount the bridge, correct? When I do, can I put a deep dive vibrato in it?, or will it slap the frets?
Hey I hate to admit but I'm not qualified to answer this. I'm definitely not a baritone expert. I just happen to get them now and then in my business selling used guitars and so I have to figure out how to set them up. But putting one together from parts is beyond me. I wish you the best with the project!
What if I tune it to C instead of B?
Thanks for the insightful video! Just experienced a similar issue that prompted me to search for a solution. In my particular case, there was a back buzz when I'm fretting the 8th fret on the E string and simultaneously playing the octave higher on the C note. The lower string would resonate and have a back buzz. I thought it was a fret leveling issue at first but noticed the buzz was coming from behind the 8th fret. Luckily, I stumbled on this video immediately. Got to fix my issue by filling the nut (superglue and dust from an old nut) and adjusting the truss rod a bit. Got my action at a decent height as well. Again, thanks for this!
Nice! Glad it was the fix for you! Come back anytime.
That's retarded
Can’t believe it was this simple. I’ve had this issue for years, thank you so much!
@@rizzle3863 I know. Same for me. Been my savior for several years now since I figured it out. Cheers

Yea, smooth em up, makes your hands happy!
if you knew how many 1000s of microscopic shards of steel the steel wool lets loose everywhere in your work space youd tape up the pickups and stick a magnet by ya to run over everything...saw a vid about it..I use steel wool tho but i take precautions...theoretically it can get in the pickups and wiring etc...sounds nitpicky tho huh? yeah it prolly is..
Hi! It's a little different when you're using with soap. The soap weighs down all the loose steel, so it doesn't get everywhere. When I'm using steel wool dry, then I tend to wrap it around a small magnet. That takes care of most of that mess. I also like the 3M Scotch Brite pads. Works like steel wool but doesn't fall apart. More expensive but it doesn't make any mess: www.amazon.com/3M-Scotch-Brite-Ultra-7448-20-Count/dp/B01N4TKTOL/ref=asc_df_B01N4TKTOL/? Thanks!
