Nine people were arrested by the Kenyan Police for questioning over the murder of Dr Robert Ouko, Kenya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs (an interview with Nicholas Biwott tells of his time in prison). They were all released but one, Jonah Anguka, the District Commissioner for Nukru, who was re-arrested and charged. Ultimately Anguka was found “not guilty” and later wrote the book Absolute Power protesting his innocence. But what did Anguka know and what did he hide? And what of James Onyango K’Oyoo, Ouko’s ‘friend’ and youth campaigner, now a Member of Parliament? How did K’Oyoo, a sacked personnel clerk, afford a holiday to Geneva and London? And where was K’Oyoo on the 13th February, 1990, the day that Robert Ouko was murdered?

Responsible journalism requires that if you get a Moi/Biwott apologist/PR agent like Martin Minns constantly providing input, you also get somebody with deep knowledge of the catastrophic Moi kleptocracy & political eliminations that Kenya sadly experienced to balance input.

There are facts and then there is also speculation. Facts can be selected and twisted to suit a storyline

Anguka seems to have realised or even been engaged with Oyugi in the final act . Oyugi may have been working for himself or some powerful corrupt people or both in carrying out this act . There seems to have been some hitmen involved , but if the intention was to create a scene of suicide , they bungled the job miserably because one cannot shoot the self , break an arm , and then lie down and set himself on fire . Oyugi as a security guy should have known better .
