    Thank you for this review. I just bought the exact one today and when I did my first wash I wasn't sure if it's supposed to make that DUCK SOUND or not. Very weird!!. Jumped on TH-cam to see videos of the same washer/dryer and here I am, laughing and loving your review. Thank you very much, now I know I'm doing working it right.

    Best video review for this GE Laundry Center I have watched!! Wanted to make sure my unit is performing as designed and played this video during a wash cycle and it was in sync with the noises, click-clacks, etc. Thanks for your informative video. I am confident my unit is noisy but working properly.

      all new machines make these annoying sounds just like ALL new refrigerators makes lots of noises at night. This machine is loud but this thing holds so much. I can wash a lot of towels and a blanket and still have room for a few tshirts. I just clsoe the door and ignore the noise. I am very happy that I bought this

    It took me awhile to get use to the different noises this machine makes. I def thought it was broken when I used it the first few times. I hate the slow agitation sound. I'm so used to hearing the fast agitator swishing back and forth. I'm glad my washer is in a closet on my patio. I'd go nuts if I had to listen to inside of my apt. It def has the longest spin cycle ever!

    A 5.9 cubic foot dryer capacity is on the smaller side for a dryer... most stand alone dryers are at least 7.0 cubic feet or more. Second point is to put the washer on the fabric softener setting if you want it to fill with water for a deep rinse... otherwise it just spray rinses.

    • @ottomatic7823
      @ottomatic7823 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      5.9 is standard for a unitized model. This isn't anywhere near the capacity of its larger counterparts. This is for small spaces after all. Geeesh.....

    I purchased this unit a month ago and am pleased with the results. Although the wash basket is huge, it's not good to fill it up with clothes because the water doesn't fill up to the top edge, like older machines do. It'll fill maybe 2/3 of the way with water, max. I've learned to select the "Bulky" cycle always because it gives the most water and the clothes get completed clean.

    Before I watch the rest of this I just got the exact same Stackable one thing I did notice a couple of things I love how fast it loads up on the start secondly I love how whisper quiet when it goes in the spin cycle the spin cycle however it took for me I think I think 15 to 20 mins the full Spincycle that’s crazy What in the end I pulled out my clothes and they were like bone dry which was great it makes it makes it a lot easier to throw it in the dryer. So yeah I do a normal load tap cold water is what I do I don’t do any fabric softener nothing else but that surprised me though how long the spin cycle took the spin cycle took longer than the rest of the load to do that was the longest part of the load for anyone that buys this they might have a different opinion and their valid do it but this is just my experience I just got it yesterday and I’m just using it today so I just started using my new one today so just letting everybody know how it is you can comment below if you have the same issue I have with the long spin cycle very long spin cycle the longest I’ve ever seen in my entire life that’s crazy but it did the job so that’s all that matters

      if you do a full load it better be a large huge sink for all the water that will come out fast.... make sure it wont plug your sink. also for water in it has a hot and a cold water hose. you will need to connect them to a pipe that allows you to connect it to the sink faucet... be careful!

    Your video has been so helpful! I just had this unit installed by Lowe's today and when I heard it washing, I was like woah.....but the spin cycle is what worried me. After 5 minutes, I was worried something was off *because that already seemed long to me* and was also afraid my downstairs neighbor could hear it. But now I know that it is normal for it to spin a long time. About 20 minutes?

    • @LEARNINGCHORDS
      @LEARNINGCHORDS  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the spinning takes forever.. this is how the new machines work... the old machines would spin and the clothes were very damp... these new machines spin forever and if you listen, then are draining out water... notice at the end,,, it does one final spin and you hear more water come out and then it shuts off... at least the dryer doesn't run as long... the clothes come out of the machine wet but not soaked..... i have no regrets...

    How's your machine doing now? Can you fit a full size blanket in it? or A full size padded mattress cover? I'm contemplating buying one. It would be great to not have to cart certain things to the laundromat. Right now I have a black and decker portable, 1.7cu. ft. and really don't like the portable dryers because they aren't 220, so less efficient, I'd think. Did you have to buy the cords, hoses, etc separately?

    There's white cottons in the wash.
    Shedding lint on the colors.
    You can easily stop that by really sperating your laundry.
    Doing mixed laundry to save time is REALLY A BAD CHOICE.
    Sorry but doing loads with by cheating and looking at fabrics that also sheds lint there are fabrics and mixed fibers that is a magnet called lint takers. That's basically it seems from those white cotton socks. Also shake garments when putting in the dryer helps and reduces wrinkles. The start and wind up noise is the motor spinning to sense the load and adapt the water level from that spinning measure sequence.
    The new sounds are from the new motor ..and gear box. Winny sounding.
    The Agitator is a single one piece design with 4 low rounded vanes creates great left to right water currents that are strong. The 2 paddles with holes adds washing action which splashes water and over the clothes in high water levels.
    And the holes in those slates water goes thru them and detergent insuring better wash quality up the top of the agitator.
    The QUICK MID WAY SHORT STROKES IS TO REDUCE WEAR ON FABRICS !
    This might happen in some settings more or less depending on the program.
    For instance the( Delicate ) cycle uses the pulsd quick stroking action for less wear and hence delicate action for sweaters ..nice expensive polo shirts..blouses..better made fabrics. With Woolite ®️. Helps to preserve those garments. You also can bypass the lid switch on the left of the lid. Where the lid look by unscrewing the piece and set it on the hole there. I HATE being locked out my washer. If there's no young toddlers ..this should be a given .
    Or manufacturers please give all Americans to have a choice of window lids with no steam blocking veiwes PLEASE. BULKY ITEMS cycle ARE FOR light compfiters .. blankets.. sleeping bags. Jackets that may have properties of bubbling up . I would never leave this CYCLE checking on large items can create bubbles in these items more or less ... stopping and turning the fabric over or pressing out air helps those items as well a better clean. Also Bulky cycle fills up and slows spinning down some to prevent banging or puffy items that may run up top the service ring.
    I believe GE SPIN CYCLE AT THE end is 800 RPM's . Giving better extraction then previous 620 to 640 AMERICAN'S top load washers where given.
    If your doing the efficient defaulted water spray rinsing which leaves more lint in clothing the do so . Just be careful of over using detergent 4 to 3 spray rinses are not enuff. Fabric softener rinsing gives full water in the basket which chases lint away and better detergent flushing. Even if you don't use softener which is recommended to safe textiles from wearing but also gives clean rinses . Depending on some brands . Or Downy free ...or white vinegar gives great rinsing and softning attributes.
    GE appliances are made from
    HAIER COMPANY !
    From the greed and less enthusiasm from OUR AMERICAN'S ENGINEERS .
    Which GE of yesteryears talented and leadership. Is know longer.
    Hopefully we could get back to that.
    But not betting on it.
    As GE HAS SOLD THERE ENTIRE APPLIANCE DIVISION TO ANOTHER COUNTRY .
    😏😬🙄
    But I do see remnants of the sound and some old traits in the product and I'll give Haier thumbs up on those deeper Appliance enthusiasts that can spot some of those GE traits.
    Hope this helps and is truly understood.
    I have been in to washers as a child .
    I'm still one with all washers.
    It's water art and art of laundering as all subjects matters have there on art .
    Unfortunately we don't see as such.
    Through it in ..
    Fast as possible ...
    Cheat on learning fabrics..
    Meaning mixed loads of colors and with washing it all at once to safe time.
    People THERE'S NO FAST TIME IN TEXTILES DONE RIGHT.
    IT takes time.
    And use your cycles .
    Not just one cycle for everything.
    Lol. Peace ✨🧢

      Since you are an expert on this machine, maybe you can tell me why I had only 5 towels to wash and washed them twice using 3X the amount of detergent necessary, rinsed 4X, and they are still dirty! My old Kenmore stack, which was hauled away yesterday when this new unit was delivered would have gotten those towels spotlessly clean in one wash. It seems that the agitation is not that strong. The items just move from side to side because the tub itself does not turn and only the agitator moves and not all that that well. Please advise if I got a lemon. I’m going to use your trick to keep the lid open so that I can watch the strength of agitation in the different cycles. Any help you can give me regarding how to use this unit more effectively would be much appreciated and thank you for your very informative comment, which I screen shot to save! 🥰🥰🥰 I HATE THIS NEW MACHINE! @@LEARNINGCHORDS I used the suggestion of unscrewing the thing which locks the lid, and figured out that I also needed to use a magnet to get the washer to agitate with the lid open. Checked out all the different kinds of cycles. Did better today with dish towels. Will try small woven area rugs tomorrow. Figuring out how to get optimal clean out of this piece of crap machine that I just paid $1600 for at Costco. What I want is no longer made (old kind was no longer made after 2007 because of water saving requirements in CA that the rest of the US is stuck with) and my 20 year old Kenmore stack needed transmission replacement which cost $700-1200, but no repairman wanted to do it because it is such a huge job. They would have to take the whole engine apart. They all told me just to buy a new one, even though the new ones are not expected to last more than 6-7 years. So I just spent $$$ on a washer I don’t like and really didn’t want to buy … that gives me dirty towels after 2 washings. It was the only top loader where I could custom set water levels. No other choice. Don’t tell me to calm down.

Although the day before they came with the new one, it stopped making the noise. So, the new one's in and I'm pretty sure the 'old new one' had a much quieter wash cycle.

    One more thing I don’t understand on the left part of the washer it looks like a wire a Wi-Fi connector or an Internet connector I don’t understand that either if someone has that too if the guy in the video if you could respond that would be awesome if you know what that means you will be great help to me I just noticed that when I got it yesterday and I’ve been thinking and I’m like what is this so if anybody knows even if they got a call ge and have them figure it out fine by me I found that to be very weird So yeah you definitely had the exact same one I have especially now that I noticed the little Internet port on the left side of the washer I don’t understand why that’s just weird

    We just got this machine, how the hecK do we get it, or what setting do we choose to fill up with water , it seems it just fills with enough water to get the clothes wet, .. Low level!

    • @LEARNINGCHORDS
      @LEARNINGCHORDS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      everything in life is about the size of your LOAD.. if you have it on precise fill it will do what it wants to the level of clothes.. if you want control you change the know to small or large.. I have mind set to fill for a massive load and I never move the dial

    I bought mine today it’s a used one refurbished got it delivered today installed for $690. Curiosity brought me here when I started my first load😂 those duck sounds did not sound normal to me. It’s a long cycle that’s forshure. So does anyone know how long does the wash last to finished?

    • @LEARNINGCHORDS

      i do it all the time. I also never read the manual... the only reason I can think is they are worried you would use too much current and blow the circuit breaker... I have a large enough breaker and most times I am washing another load while the first is in the dryer

    One final thing and this is a huge compliment the guy in the video sounds just like if you’ve ever seen the show before 90 days on TLC there is this guy name big Ed and he’s a single guy trying to find a girlfriend and he has a cute dog named Teddy and the dog looks just like the dog in the video I don’t know if it’s the same guy but if it is dude I enjoy watching the show I also watch the show with the pillow talk on TLC so I get the other cast members points of view of the show just wanted to throw that out there as a final thought do you know what that Internet E Internet port is or stands for means why is it there on the washer on the left side on the bottom left side if you can figure it out let me know cause I’m wondering that myself and if anyone else has the exact same washer that I have and he has and you notice that as well like I do could you tell me or tell the world what it means would love for the help thank you and have a good night

    Came here because my mother had the bright idea of loading my brand new stackable by turning on the washer FIRST with the lid open so she can presoak her clothes before shutting the lid therefore the "lid locked" sensor clicked off and now won't turn on to show it's locked while filling water and washing clothes. So I'm trying to figure out how to fix it.

    • @rosedevitt2406
      @rosedevitt2406 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hold the start button to reset it and it will start over. That's how I got mine to work again. You really cannot leave the washer lid up while it filling, not on this model :/
