What is the stuff brushed on the bored cylinder before the sleeve is dropped in? No doubt to make things fuel and water proof, but what is it? Sealant? Glue?
I also have a 997.1 with 3.6L. Are the sleeves chrome-molly iron from LA Sleeve? Are you increasing the bore of this engine and what pistons and rings will be used? What do you think about the Nikasil plating?
When inserting the liner into the engine block in the image What is the white chemical that you apply? Please tell me what white liquid you use If possible, I would like to work with the same solution to the product name.
Great work Guys, i am 997.1 Carrera S owner less than 1 year and this issue is my nightmare :) I am from Europe, but what is approximetly price for this rebuilt engine? Thank you for your video, i will follow next stories:) Petr
Hello Mate from England🇬🇧…Hartech is the big name here for a total rebuild of all 6 cylinders…£10k. If you’re having problems, there’s lots on TH-cam to guide you.
does anyone know why these cars have a bore scoring problem? While it's great to fix the problem, what's to prevent it from happening again? What about the IMS bearing issue? This brings back my PTSD from owning various other German vehicles before I finally gave up.
Dan, it’s not a large percentage of cars that have it. It’s noteworthy because it’s expensive. Leaky injectors deposit fuel in the bores and wipe the oil film away. Additionally, long term oil change intervals leave the oil without lubricity. Short drives that don’t allow engine to get out of the cold start enrichment cycle flood the cylinders with fuel. Short drives also fail to burn off water in the oil from condensation.Because many owners are collectors or don’t drive the cars often, this is what you get. A good pre purchase inspection and an annual datalog of the ECU will reveal issues before they arise.
Had my 997.1 done by Jake Raby and thus far its been bulletproof.
respect the once doing the work

Are you watching this Porsche? Just because you were ‘environmental’ and didn’t use the correct alloy🤷🏻
A mistake they kept on making on all their engines until mid 2018 (991 GT3 included)
