  • One of my favorite features on this little printer. Yes, you can setup a raspberry pi and use octoprint. But for many who don't have a Pi or don't want to bother with it, this is a nice solution that's already built in.

    unfortunately, it is no longer available.
    Seems that Monoprice has tried to come out with their own version (or bought it) with little success at working

    Spent the last few hours trying to figure out how to setup wifi on the MP Select Mini Pro/V3
    Note for some users who want to connect to Wifi initially using the app. For whatever reason the app is no longer listed on the play store so you will need to just install the APK (which works flawlessly compared to Monoprice's current app listed on the play store)
    apkpure.com/mp-mini-3d-printer-client-connect/org.scprojects.app.mpselectminiclient
    After installing this you can also go into Cura and then the Marketplace and download the Monoprice Select Mini V2 printer plugin by Luc Rubio if you want to just wifi print directly from Cura instead of via file drop from browser to streamline your printing workflow.

    After following you instructions I was provided with an IP address. I opened it in chrome and it worked fine. Once I started uploading a gcode file I got a code zero fault message. Up to now I didn't find a way to resolve that. Also the IP address changes every session. 1 up or down all the time. It's a pity cause really I'm fed up with changing the SD card all the times.

      If your router supports DHCP properly, you can assign a static IP address to the printers hardward address there and it will never change. Just make sure it's out of your DHCP range.
      Yeah, it fails in chrome sometimes. Depending on your OS, you can use the browser I recomended, or try a different browser. Under windows, it probably only works well with microsoft's browser.

    Uh i went to the midori download website and saw that for windows it said "Coming soon." Curious, I clicked on the coming soon button for more information and it took me to a webpage where it said "TikTok is used for sex" with a naked woman jiggling her breasts... and my 13 year old cousin was sitting right next to me... suffice it to say, im not sure i trust midori...

    Micro SD cards! Many designers should be cursed about those things. I have a trail camera that uses those. It makes no sense,. You are out in the woods and trying to change the card. The spring loading in the slot means that if you slip, that little card is going to shoot out into the grass/leaves/rocks/sticks and other forest trash. Good luck finding it!
    I haven't tried Midori yet, but seen it mentioned in forums. Have to give it a try some day.

    When I try to upload a gcode file, it sees a 128kb file as over 1 TB and the upload fails. I have tried multiple browsers and slicers. No luck. How do I get this to work?

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try the browser I mention and use. It was the only one I could get to reliably work. Another potential problem could be the SD card you have in the printer. Take a new card that's a brand name, like sandisk, and make sure it's only partitioned for 2Gig size and formatted with the FAT file system.

    Hi Kevin, I've been on printing hiatus for a year now, and my printer shows an IP address and we see it on our wifi, but going to the ip on the browser doesn't work - it doesn't show up like that any more. I tried sending a file with what did show up (the calibration cat) and the printer said 'downloading' but then said there was nothing to print. I sliced it in cura. I'm running chrome, is that the problem?

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely it is the browser. I seem to remember, this video was a while ago, that I had a specific browser I found that worked reliably and I mentioned it. It should be the one that works for you, and I believe it was available for Windows Mac and Linux.

    • @renoviamarro-day9365

      I just checked, and the browser I found to work was called Midori. Unfortunately, I just checked their web site and they don't have a version for mac.
      It's the printers fault. It does windows specific web stuff with the browser interface.

  • @Noeland

    Thanks for the video. This helped me out some. I've tried printing this way several times now and the upload sticks at 0.6MB and then nothing happens after that. The display on the machine just stays on downloading. I've also noticed this machine really only likes to read the microSd card it came with, and does not seem to like my scandisk microSD cards one little bit. The issue there is that card is write protected and will not let me add files to it.

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stuck download is the problem I talked about with some web browsers and their broken html server in the printer. Use the Midori web browser and it will work.
      The SD card should be re-partitioned and then reformatted. Partition it with a single 2Gig FAT partition and it should work fine in the printer.

    • @Noeland
      @Noeland 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I reformatted the disc. I also found on my printer that it won't read the class 4 micro SD cards art all, but class 10 it reads fine, so I picked up a couple 32GB cards and they are good to go. I'll give that Midori browser a try! Take care.
