BRILLIANT! I've been making the SOI Kate and the SOI Dana and ignoring the concealed button placket step (just making it exposed instead) because their pictures and worded instructions are so so so unclear. But this is extremely helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've been having trouble understanding how to make this, and you managed to explain it so simply and clearly. Also a BIG thanks for the captions. I have a language processing disorder and being able to read what you were saying let me focus on the instructions and not working out what words you spoke.
I just did this in a scrap fabric and I'm glad i did. The front and back pieces were misaligned by about a half an inch. I will try again with a wider slit. 1/2" on either side of the center line.
Good question! That would be a little trickier. You’d actually have to add a collar stand (strip of fabric between shirt and collar to help it stand up) as well as a collar. I recommend looking at/using a shirt or dress pattern that already has a collar and copying those instructions.
Great tutorial would there be any other way of finishing the botton of the plackets i dont like the x in the front i know u used contrasting thread for the tutorial but i just dont like it
Yes for sure- it’s actually easier! You’ll just add the placket cover to the entire length of the gown, instead of ending it halfway down the dress like I did.
AMEN! The answer to my prayer. My daughter found this for me and I'm grateful to both of you.
Glad you liked it!
OMG i have trying to make a placket for a month. Thanks you , you made it so clear. I’m good to go now. YEAH

I absolutely love this ..
Great! So glad you liked it
This is so valuable! Thank you. What is the finished placket width?
I just did this in a scrap fabric and I'm glad i did. The front and back pieces were misaligned by about a half an inch. I will try again with a wider slit. 1/2" on either side of the center line.
That did the trick!
Woohoo! Way to stick with it!
Hello I love the video and was curious as to how you would add a collar to this after finishing the placket
Good question! That would be a little trickier. You’d actually have to add a collar stand (strip of fabric between shirt and collar to help it stand up) as well as a collar. I recommend looking at/using a shirt or dress pattern that already has a collar and copying those instructions.
Thank you. So easy. ❤
I had to watch it again
Ha! Yeah, it takes a second to figure out but it’s easy once you try it!
heyy what is the width and length of the finished placket? it looks amazing and the tutorial was so clear thank you!
Hey you’re welcome! It ends up being about 1 3/4” wide and 9” long. Good luck!
Wow so easy tnx
Great tutorial would there be any other way of finishing the botton of the plackets i dont like the x in the front i know u used contrasting thread for the tutorial but i just dont like it
You don’t need to sew the X. It just adds some stability, you would need to sew the square though in order to secure it closed at the bottom.
I really like your lesson, I will like you to teach us how to form a hidden botton placket in a Mao cooler suit
I'd love to try to help - can you send me a link to what type of suit you're referring?
Can i use this method for button down shirt gown? If yes? Pls explain how to me.
Yes for sure- it’s actually easier! You’ll just add the placket cover to the entire length of the gown, instead of ending it halfway down the dress like I did.
