Very pleased to find this tutorial. I am making little girls' clothes for donation and the instructions on the pattern were disastrous. I was ready to give up because the pictures were very hard to see and understand. Before I gave up, I found this visual tutorial and it will work for me. I imagine several of the patterns I use will have plackets and your instructions were enlightening. Thank you so much!
I just wanted to say this is the best tutorial I've found for a placket opening - so simple and such a clean finished look! Thank you so much for this!
I'm so glad this helped! I've definitely know what it's like to read some pattern instructions and have it just not click. I do my best to make things as clear and easy as possible in my tutorials!
Nice. The explanation was very well done! It’s been years since I put in a placket. I would have had to go back to my notes with scraps of fabric to try and see what I meant. This is much nicer
That's some pretty perfect timing then! :D I was actually going to post this video in two weeks, but I bumped it up to this week. Guess it was meant to be!
I'm so glad it helped you! I'm hoping to make a second placket video to show when it's on a seam and made with two pieces, but I need to wait until it comes up in a project that isn't under a tight deadline.
This is one of the best tutorials I have seen. Thank you so much for showing each step and explaining so clearly! Just found your channel and I will be sure to check out your other videos. :)
AAAAAAAH! (sweating profusely) My mother is the master of plackets. I -- never learned. I can do one in the seam -- kind of. Thank you for this. Stay well.
Thank you so much for this! :D I was really stuck on how to do this and your explanation helped me to finally get my head around how I can do my skirt closure ^_^
Congratulations. Thank you for posting. I am delighted that you have such a clear and well described materials list. I like how you show options & talk about what to do in similar circumstances (eg: lined skirt)
Thank you very much! I do my best to include a material list when I made a tutorial. It was funny, as I working on this video, I kept thinking of more to add as I went along, like how to do this with a lined skirt. I'm glad you appreciated the inclusion!
@@HattoHem It's a made up title. I am imagining that it's the sort of thing Mrs. Crocumbe might have taught. However, the Historical recreation show just models/teaches cooking. Annie, the Professor who started the show might be interested in branching into sewing & mending demonstrations, but, probably not. Bernadette, Cathy, Morgan & all do so well with historical sewing tutorials already. My joke was that your pacing & presentation was like the extant cooking show. There's some lovely recipes on it though, maybe treats or dishes to make for your own household.
Thank you for this! I'm making a simple circle skirt with side seams (with pockets!!). I don't want to give up a pocket for a "standard" placket, so I'm being crazy and will have a placket about 1" above each pocket on the sides. Am I crazy??
@@HattoHem I'm learning that I don't know as much as I think I do about sewing and seams. I saw you have a nifty seam gauge/guide thing. I saw Noelle and Cat have it, too, but I don't know how to find one. Where did you get yours? Again, I'm so thankful you made this tutorial. I just saw your Bridgerton video and the dress is amazing!!!
@@KenZchameleon I have a link to the seam gauge in my description. I do my best to link all of the equipment I use in my video descriptions, at least the ones I use in the video. I'm glad you enjoyed my Bridgerton video! That one was a bit of a whirlwind!
Thanks, Maggie. I came into a 1940's p.j. pattern. The instructions are sparse. The pants use a woven waistband, not elastic. There's no pattern piece for what they call the extension and facing. I suppose it is expected that a seamstress would automatically fashion these from small rectangle scraps of the fashion fabric. I suspect your continuous placket is the intended method. Your instructions are clear. 😃
Oh, wow! That's interesting! I think I probably would expected it to have been rectangular scraps of fabric as well, but it sounds like this is a good alternative! I'm glad you found this video helpful!
Great instructions! Clear, straight to the point and every step shown!
This is the exact tutorial I’ve been looking for!
I'm so glad to hear that! I was worried this was too niche for the tutorial to be helpful to many people, but I'm so glad it helped you!
You saved my project with this video lol thanks
I'm so glad to hear that!!! I hope it turns out nicely!
You are adorable and this is a wonderful demonstration. Thank you

Thank you. Another clearly explained and accurately shown tutorial.

Thank you for this sew along instruction! The text for inserting a placket on my pattern was not clear and this made it super easy!

I just have this placket and the plackets I put in my Victorian skirts in my arsenal. Maybe I'll make a tutorial for the basic placket technique too!

Awwwwww 😊 thank you!
I am hollering😂. I did my first slip stitch on a skirt this week and girl you just 💩 on me! Compared to yours mine is HILARIOUSLY bad 😂
Trust me, mine aren't usually this neat. This was 100% for the video 😂
Thank you!
