    This is the only placket tutorial I can actually follow. I've watched several videos and they're mostly difficult to even understand. This is so clear and I've used it several times now!

    Nice tutorial. Technically it doesn't matter but it is maybe worth mentioning that in your video the closure is left over right, which is often used for men' clothes, while for women it is often right over left.

      Exactly, this tutorial is confusing for a placket on women’s clothing it is the wrong way.

    Just love your videos! Help me out here. I may not beeing looking at this correctly . Why wouldnt you, or coukd you, sew the placket to the outside (just the opposite of what you demonstrated) then hand sew on the inside, giving the outside a clean neat finish? Is it because you have to top/edge stitch the placet down?

    That was very nice. What I would like to see is I guess you would call it a placket.
    But one for mens slack with hidden fly buttons I would think that the under side of the top placket would have hidden button holes so that would mean the top part of the placket would be in two parts is that so and maybe how would one be created?

    • @ProfessorPincushion

      you would probably have to do the plackets differently to get a zipper in. Check out our tutorial on the fly zipper. I would imagine that it would have a similar look.

    Can I use this technique for a button down classic shirt?! If so would I just make the length of the placket the total length for the shirt? Thanks for the tutorial it's very easy to follow!

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +KrisMarie You could if you wanted to, if you can finish the bottom so that it looks nice. With my placket, it's still 1 piece at the bottom and a button down shirt it's 2 pieces. Watch our tutorial on the button band to get an idea on how it's done. th-cam.com/video/OGKoGsZ8Ga8/w-d-xo.html You could make your own pattern for the button band, it's basically just a rectangle that's the length of the front bodice and the width is: desired width x 2, plus seam allowance. Then you can cut a copy of your front bodice down the center and add seam allowance to this edge. Hope that gives you some direction.

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sheri Sterling instead of a hook and eye, you can do a small button and a button thread loop. It's more time consuming but I think makes it look more couture.
