The writing, characters; the world building is about as rich and diverse as characters and lore can get but CD Projekt already had an extremely solid foundation in the books to start with. But what they built upon is a true testament to just HOW talented that team at the time was. It's why I've put nearly 1000 hours in between the PS4, 5, and my Switch version 😉
CD Projekt is just that talented, especially the team they had crafting this masterpiece at the time. It's a testament to just how talented they were and can be.
Oh, I get it! The Witcher games set an entirely new standard I had expected of RPGs up until that point. I started with the second Witcher and fell in love the moment the cutscene were Letho reveals he was King Foltest's personal shaman right before murdering Foltest and jumping out the window, framing Geralt for murdering the king. The Wild Hunt AND DLC just reminded me why the series was so phenomenal.
Geralt : " kill it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Anna Henrietta you don't understand what you're dealing with this isn't just your average fiend or Leschi that got pissed off. This is a higher vampire this is a creature who is faster stronger and more ferocious when it's been pissed off and vindictive because it has human emotions and higher intellect and calculating. I can put it down but I can't kill a higher vampire no one can kill a higher vampire these things are worse than cockroaches even after you sever its head it's still around waiting and willing to be regenerating until long after you're dead and the orders have been forgotten about and it will just get right back up hear it all you've done Anna is give a vampire more reason to be pissed off death for a higher vampire is a minor inconvenience. "
Precisely. They're like Wolverine or Deadpool on overdrive healing factors and still then some. Even Regis points out how they can exist for centuries as a single drop of blood.
I liked Anna at 1st as she did have a decent 1st impression, then I grew angry over the naiveness of her position and how she thinks a witchers job works. The final act where she is willing to sacrifice the lives of her citizens and knights over her sister that caused this mess over misplaced guilt made me see her for what she is and thats a incompetent ruler too blinded by emotions. Props for the writers for making such a well written and flawed queen.
That's exactly what makes these characters so amazing. They're not just one dimensional, superficial npcs. They're extremely relatable to real-world humans. Power corrupts and absolute power absolutely corrupts, and you can see that in her willingness to devalue the lives of those "expendable" just because her sister holds more value as a sibling when, objectively those other people hold as much value as she or her sister do to her. And as long as everything goes her way she appears fair and just but like most people, put under extreme pressure both politically and personally she's not hesitant to let the means justify the ends in her worldview. Her opinions on how she THINKS Geralt's profession works as well as her dismissal of not just his professional knowledge of higher vampires as well as her human superiority complex towards devaluing another species she knows nothing about is testament to her massive ego. Had she actually respected Geralt and his judgment as a professional, then maybe more innocent people would have lived instead of being sacrificed in the name of a political agenda.
No, he doesn't. But he does highlight the features of a higher vampire, the implication being that lesser vampires do not experience such things as emotions or sapient intelligence. Whilst not expressly said, Geralt does explain through subtext what differentiates Detlaff and Regis from their lesser kin.
I recently finished Blood and Wine properly, for the first time. I asked the Unseen Elder to summon Dettlaff...in so doing, I went through the orphanage. Seeing the butchered children decided me as to the right ending.
If I were to recommend ANY game or series, especially a specific number of a title in a series, hands down it would be The Witcher 3. It's an absolute MASTERPIECE and with the next gen upgrade it's EVEN better. I fell in love with the series with Witcher 2 but 3 just took everything and improved it completely.
@@Pjvenom1985if you like phenomenally rich characters and world-building and games that truly feel "alive" then it'd be a shame if you never give Witcher 3 a try. It's one of those series and titles that stick around in your thoughts long after you've completed it.

Absolutely, hands down, without a doubt, one of the best dlc expansions I've ever played! Not only did it feel like stepping into a fairytale, but the geography and customs are SO drastically different to Velen and the surrounding areas like White Orchard, Skellege, that it TRULY felt like you had visited another continent. And it was such a relief to get away from the swampy, morose geography of Velen for the duration of the dlc.
I don't think so from what I remember in the game. I know that when she finds out that Geralt withheld from her that Detlaff was a higher vampire, she was furious.
@@TsarVladolfPutler during the vampire attack to the city you can reveal Regis is a vampire, which leads to Henrietta cautioning Geralt of his next words because if he doesn't she'll have him killed. In Pathfinder lore, the original vampires came from space and after a brief stop on the planet, they moved on - their legacy is a virus that alters the victims in their image. Here something similar happened, an alien race got dimension hopped into this world and they try to get back to their own world.
So very true. When the lore states that some higher vampires will wait thousands of years by the location where the Conjunction of The Spheres opened up and left them stranded in the world just to get a single scent of their homeworld.
At times like this I wonder how offended they would be if they met someone like me. I have never drank alcohol, and I never will. Would they be upset if I told them I did not want their wine?
First and foremost, congratulations, you've never tried alcohol and I urge you to remain consistent with that. I've watched too many friends destroy their lives and future potential because of alcohol. And I'm they're with you because I don't drink either or care to and, sure they'd probably be a bit offended, possibly confused at the thought of someone not only not having tried alcohol but possessing zero interest in ever trying it. But odds are, given the cultural importance of wine in Toussaint and just how ingrained it is in their customs and traditions, if you had been born into their set of cultural norms you'd more than likely have tried it at some point. Whether you conformed or rejected those norms later in life is another thing.
Oh man, sooo very true! They felt equivalent to novel style expansions; like getting the next book in the series you've been reading. They couldn't have done a better job imo
My brain says she has a traitor among her ranks and she wants to get to the bottom of it herself. Never played the game myself but I do like geralt and have seen my brothers play it. However I didn't get into like them cuz I preferred my Fps games so Halo was where I spent my time.
I can totally understand that actually playing a game like Witcher isn't everyone's cup of tea as I have friends who just don't get into that kind of story and choice heavy rpg but it's great you can objectively find some value in watching someone else enjoy the game and even aspects to characters like Geralt, even though your preference is for fps games like Halo. Absolutely not a thing wrong with that!
Thanks bro, I appreciate it. I am a destiny player so I do understand the RPG side of things pretty well but from a shooters perspective. I had to take a break cuz I’ve been playing since the closed beta of the first game and I need a break after 10 years of slaughtering millions of alien assholes.
Are sommeliers truly that good at identifying wine that they can do so with as little as a single drop or is it fantasy like the rest of the Witcher series?
I highly doubt that's a realistic portrayal of a sommelier's abilities. There's a chance I could be entirely mistaken. But it seems to me that it's highly sus that anyone is capable of that talent to that extent.
master sommeliers have to identify the wine, the grape mix, the subregion the grapes are from, and the year they were harvested within a year's accuracy. All from a taste test
Damn! The Witcher story and quest and setting is so much more interesting than Cyberpunk. I really loved to like Cyberpunk but compared to the Witcher it is simply not fun.
Absolutely 💯 I'm a MASSIVE fan of the Cyberpunk universe created by Mike Pondsmith. Night City, the potential stories that can exist; the ones that already do. The relatable fictional tragedies of a city that swallows up everyone and spits them out every day. But the quality of The Witcher is superior. Whereas the base story of Cyberpunk was really good; it wasn't until Phantom Liberty, whereas the writing reached Witcher level quality. Especially when it came to side questing. EVERY single side quest in Witcher even outperforms the main quest (even as far back as Witcher II). AND you include Hearts of Stone and Blood And Wine, and it's nearly unbeatable in quality. Whereas the side quests in Cyberpunk were hit or missed UNTIL Phantom Liberty.
Nilfgaardians? Griffins? Forktails? Drakes? Drowners? Wraiths? The Wild Hunt? I sleep. "Witcher, we offer upon you a contract to kill a Higher Vampire." REAL SHIT???

Only one way to kill a Higher Vampire and that's another Higher Vmapire killing them but in doing so they get ostracized and hunted by there very own kind and at worst being hunted by a Elder ancient High Vampire but such a fate is extremely rare but still would happen.
It's interesting to know that they even have established social expectations and even punish those who transgress against their laws. It's not that vampires can't wipe out humanity. It's just that to higher vampires, humans are an annoyance, and all vampires want is to be left alone. For higher vampires, they just want to coexist within human societies. They don't even require blood to exist; something I find really fascinating about higher vampires.
He does, though, when he explains to her that higher vampires are vastly different in every way to other species of vampires. Whereas a Witcher could defeat a lesser vampire like an Ekymara, no Witcher or human could ever hope to defeat a higher vampire.
4 year old video etc. But goddamn Sommeliers are so annoying. Look I get it, you can probably determine some difference or another, but "I taste the North Atlantic Sea in this vintage, it was clearly shipped from Norway" or some shit. I don't believe you. Sorry. You're lying. A sealed wine, in a sealed bottle, in a sealed container, picked up notes from the voyage? Plus the mouth noises they always make, yea smacking your lips helps you smell better I'm sure. Anything to make the grift seem more authentic.
Actually the mouth thing makes sense. Much like dogs , you're helping to pass it over additional olfactory sensors plus you're taste buds. Most sommeliers are bullshit. There are a few with real talent, but they are few and far between. Plenty have been exposed with blind tests. In this case, this world has like, magic and shit, so I can suspend my disbelief. Also, if there was ever gonna be a true sommelier it's probably the dude that works for the duchess of the country who's obsessed with wine.
In blind taste tests, expert wine testers have repeatedly mistaken 10 dollar bargain bottles for bottles that would typically go for hundreds of dollars. It's 100 percent a scam
Sorry dude... depends on who you heard first, longest and grew comfortable with. Add to the fact that you dont have to constantly look at subs to understand what's being said. Let's say it's anime. AoT and Berserk I prefer in english as theyre mostly western peeps, heck Id even go one step further and watch them in german especially AoT in Paradis, as their names are obviously german. Demonslayer set in japan? Definitely picking japanese language. Its just the fact that with Geralt more people already grew accustomed to David. Like with Goku people hate me for prefering english voice as I didnt like seeing a really buff and tall alien speak in a squeaky voice, which was ok for me when it was still just dragon ball.
Why does every fucking polish person say this? It made the Witcher franchise as big as it is with the English version about 10-20% of players used the polish one
Oh, I know! There were several other amazing characters I think would've been wonderful to be able to romance. Shani also comes to mind. It was a shame yet understandable why it wouldn't work between them in the traditional sense; her being a medic, usually on the battlefields; Geralt going wherever contracts and political interests take him constantly.

"You were to destroy him, not help him." I heard this once...
From Sir Highground perchance?
Obiwan and Anakin!

How does a 3D model from 2015 manage to THAT heart-stopping motion with her eyes?
CD Projekt is just that talented, especially the team they had crafting this masterpiece at the time. It's a testament to just how talented they were and can be.
Henrietta really think Geralt will go "nah, I'd win".
It's what she'd LIKE to hear, anyway.
this dude has a better sense of smell than fucking wolverine!
😂🤭😂🤭😂🤭 That's NO lie! If he were to join the witchers, they'd be even more unstoppable at tracking monsters scents!
I love this game so much. Fucking wine was the key to solving the mystery.
Honestly, the women in this game have no right looking as good as they do.
They all look like customized versions of Yennefer's face. Really weird.
Bro was really smacking his lips sniffing a dried wine stain. Like damn, the wine can't be THAT good.
😂😂😂😂 Winos must be a different kind of breed in Toussaint
At no point in this video does Geralt discuss vampires versus higher vampires.
No, he doesn't. But he does highlight the features of a higher vampire, the implication being that lesser vampires do not experience such things as emotions or sapient intelligence. Whilst not expressly said, Geralt does explain through subtext what differentiates Detlaff and Regis from their lesser kin.
Man’s performing forensics with just his nose.
I recently finished Blood and Wine properly, for the first time. I asked the Unseen Elder to summon Dettlaff...in so doing, I went through the orphanage. Seeing the butchered children decided me as to the right ending.
That's one that gets pretty dark when you realize what she's been up to with her orphanage.
Nice clip, will have to scope out this series eventually.⚔️🐺🍀
If I were to recommend ANY game or series, especially a specific number of a title in a series, hands down it would be The Witcher 3. It's an absolute MASTERPIECE and with the next gen upgrade it's EVEN better. I fell in love with the series with Witcher 2 but 3 just took everything and improved it completely.
@@ethicallybasedexnazi Very much noted good sir! Thanks for the suggestion.🌱🌅🎮🍀
@@Pjvenom1985if you like phenomenally rich characters and world-building and games that truly feel "alive" then it'd be a shame if you never give Witcher 3 a try. It's one of those series and titles that stick around in your thoughts long after you've completed it.
@@ethicallybasedexnazi The Witcher 3 is definitely on the hitlist my friend.⚔️🐺🎮🍀
@@Pjvenom1985 just play Witcher 2 to dip your toes in. It's surprisingly similar to 3 but much more compact and story focused. It's really good, and it'll reveal whether you'd enjoy the Witcher 3.
Blood and wine is such a good dlc
Absolutely, hands down, without a doubt, one of the best dlc expansions I've ever played! Not only did it feel like stepping into a fairytale, but the geography and customs are SO drastically different to Velen and the surrounding areas like White Orchard, Skellege, that it TRULY felt like you had visited another continent. And it was such a relief to get away from the swampy, morose geography of Velen for the duration of the dlc.
Sangreal/Sangrail is also the name of the Holy Grail in the Arthurian Romances, as befits the chivalrous fairytale land of Toussaint.
That's something I didn't know, but it definitely seems appropriate for the cultural setting within Toussaint! Thanks for that neat detail 💯🙏💚
Did Geralt reveal Regis's true identity when he told Anna Henrietta and Damien that Dettlaff is dead towards the end of B&W?
I don't think so from what I remember in the game. I know that when she finds out that Geralt withheld from her that Detlaff was a higher vampire, she was furious.
@@ethicallybasedexnazi then how did he manage to convince them that he was the one who slayed the beast(Dettlaff)?
@@TsarVladolfPutler during the vampire attack to the city you can reveal Regis is a vampire, which leads to Henrietta cautioning Geralt of his next words because if he doesn't she'll have him killed. It's the same conversation where Geralt can snap about how she should use her hounds to track Dettlaff
Naw. No one knows who Regis is except for Gerald and one other character - which shouldn't be spoiled though.
I really wanted Anna Henrietta :( Finest woman of the kingdom.
I would have loved to have her as a romance option. She's phenomenal as a character. But Shani takes the win for me 😉
gerlat said multiple times that there is no way to kill a higher vampire but its as if she didnt hear him every time or chose to ignore the fact
This DLC contends for my favorite DLC for a game like this.
Oh man, sooo very true! They felt equivalent to novel style expansions; like getting the next book in the series you've been reading. They couldn't have done a better job imo
@@ethicallybasedexnazi It contends with Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC. That was such a nonsense and fun DLC.
C.S.I: Toussaint
I sleep.
"Witcher, we offer upon you a contract to kill a Higher Vampire."
REAL SHIT???
Shit DEFINITELY got real! But Geralt didn't back down. It gets even more real if you decide to visit the elder vampire.
"Proprose", huh.
0:41 for the record.
Hehe You can almost hear Geralt thinking, "What I propose is not going to be to your Highnesses liking..."
@@ethicallybasedexnazi Was just pointing out a spelling error in the game; but you're definitely right about her!
Benoit is a wino.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
My only problem with the dlc is that they made Higher Vampires near impossible to kill. Otherwise, it was really wonderful to play with.
lol that’s the point. You can’t kill them. They do not have any weaknesses. Geralt had plot plus another higher vampire to fight. Only a high vampire can kill another high vampire.
@@jaythekid4728 Regis got almost killed by a bunch of peasants armed with pitchforks, they weren't that invincible in the books.
@@efaristi9737 his life was never in danger. They regenerate. Death is not a thing for them unless attacked and killed by another higher vampire. He equated it to the same way us humans get annoyed by mosquitoes and enough mosquitoes can kill a human. As for him he didn’t attempt to just wipe them all out which he could have easily done.
@@jaythekid4728 He said the peasants didn't know the right way to kill a higher vampire so there is a way for simples humans to perma kill a higher vampire.
The "only a HV can kill a HV" is a game thing only.
In the end, Regis still got chopped to pieces by a simple mob of humans even if it didn't kill him.
@@efaristi9737 bro it’s not a game mechanic. The literal lore to higher vampires is that only another higher vampire can permanently kill one. Any other time they will regenerate even if it takes decades.
Thats not a man - thats a dog.
He grew up with a pack of free roaming wolves. It's how he honed his sense of smell 😉😉😉
They don't even require blood to exist; something I find really fascinating about higher vampires.
he doesn’t explain shit in this video though?
He does, though, when he explains to her that higher vampires are vastly different in every way to other
species of vampires.
Oh, it's definitely nonsense. But it's fun nonsense. In fiction I just headcanon it as a branch of divination magic.
I don't think I could stand the lip smacking in and of itself. It's like when people smack while they eat...
Witcher in English is just bad. Just olay in Polish with English or other subtitles.
At this point it'd be far too odd to hear anyone but David voice Geralt's character lol
Such a bad take
Sorry dude... depends on who you heard first, longest and grew comfortable with.
Imma shit in your mouth. Subtitle that.
Absolutely loved Anna Henrietta. Was very disappointed she wasn't romanceable 🥲
Oh, I know! There were several other amazing characters I think would've been wonderful to be able to romance. Shani also comes to mind. It was a shame yet understandable why it wouldn't work between them in the traditional sense; her being a medic, usually on the battlefields; Geralt going wherever contracts and political interests take him constantly.
@@ethicallybasedexnazi Agreed. Cerys is another I would have liked. Though, like Anna Henrietta, I get why lore wise they're not.
