Wonderful stuff. Keep it coming. I’m a confirmed Barry Humphries fan and I hadn’t seen this clip before. Let’s pull everything out to remember this wonderful Australian gifted comedian and intellect.
Seriously. His absolute transformation was freaky. Because it wasn't just jokes and pantomimes of cartoon characters,...he actually seemed to possess the consciousness of those 'other people'.
He had the rare talent of saying just enough for the audience to form his intention in their minds while not actually saying anything crude himself. Brilliant.
Comedy genius one of my favourite Sir Les lines is he said there's a rumour going round there's no culture down in Australia we'll lm here to tell ya we got it coming out of our arse?? Absolutely spot on Les knowone could have said it better a brilliant mind made him a comedy genius God bless him can you imagine Sir Les at the pearly gates trying to get in laughter is the best medicine and Barry Humphrey's was the master.🙏👁👀😁
I remember attending his show in London many years ago. I think the Less Patterson character had just been evolved so when he walked on stage after the interval, and with the house lights still on, nobody recognised him. He introduced himself as the Australian Cultural Attaché and it took a while before people realised that it was Barry Humphries. Needless to say he was hilarious. RIP Sir Less.
Gone are those days when pure talent like Barry Humphries was allowed to freely perform and make us laugh. It's all political box ticking now. RIP Barry Humphries, a true genius in any disguise.
I think deep down many blokes would like to be like Les and just enjoy life. Humphries was such an intelligent man and his quick wit was remarkable. It's such a shame that comedians of his calibre have virtually disappeared.. which reminds me...I am overdue finding something to be offended about!! 4
Struth, its years since I've seen Dame Edna, about 20... and I had no idea the fellow behind that visage was such a comedic giant, there's a true master of his craft if ever there was one, it simmers in every waggle of his lecherous eyebrows, every glance perfectly timed, perfectly punctuated... how typical that is - just as he passes, I realise what he is. Aye, ain't that the way of it?!?
Frank Bough enjoying Sir Les's naughty remarks about Terry doing it 3 times a week (no surprises there) and Lenny Henry witnessing something he will never be....funny. RIP Barry Humphries.
"Joan Collins was a personal friend of mine ,she loved perfume. You would never guess what she put behind her ears to attract the men folk" Long pause and a drink. "HER ANKLES" LOL
The interesting thing about the shows up for the award is that the winner seems to have completely disappeared from the TV listings. The other show turn up regularly on British television despite being rather old.
Sir Les was bloody hilarious. RIP Barry Humphries, a comic genius, I wonder how long before the politically correct brigade try to have these classic videos removed for TH-cam?
Sir Les was always my favourite of Barry's characters. Absolute genius. Will miss him in this sometimes sad and serious world....
The Australian Cheese Board will never be the same without him.
A magnificent man who had the gift of jocularity and made people laugh and brought happiness even if it was briefly. Thanks God for this man
Which "god"?
@@MichaelKingsfordGray The god that created Tasmanian camembert.
As an ole bugger myself now it brings tears of laughter to my eyes watching Sir Les , you can catch a few more of his clips with the great late Parky

The phrase ‘Let’s pull everything out’ is in fact very Les Patterson.
I only discovered Sir Les recently. This earlier stuff is the best, especially his appearance on Parkinson’s Australian programme.

He disappeared into his characters so completely, that they seemed more genuine than some "real" people. What a talent!

Very well put 👌
Great post
Seriously. His absolute transformation was freaky. Because it wasn't just jokes and pantomimes of cartoon characters,...he actually seemed to possess the consciousness of those 'other people'.
The finest entertainer the world has know in my opinion. We will never see the like again. Irreplaceable. ❤❤❤
100% with you. The master of comedy
A genius
Funny as. RIP Sir Les. You have given me so much laughs and joy over my 25 years in Australia.
We saw him in London and physically ached at the end of the show from laughing so much. A genuine comedy genius.
He had the rare talent of saying just enough for the audience to form his intention in their minds while not actually saying anything crude himself. Brilliant.
A true politician...sorry, comic.,

He will be missed. A very gracious ( well, when he wasn't being Sir Les) clever, witty man.
Only Sir Les would have had the gall to say such things in a room full of high brow Brits......he was a wounderful comic
Bloody hilarious and talented guy - we got ya Les ! 🥰🇬🇧
Rest in peace Barry Humphries. A great comic legend ❤.
Absolutely brilliant --im going to miss this great comedian and his Sir Les Patterson incarnation RIP Barry Humphries Youll be sorely missed mate
Barry Humphries and Foster Brooks, two comic geniuses of a kind we don’t see today.
So true.
Sir Patterson is by far Australia’s best diplomat.
AS WAS THE MAGNIFICENTBILL HUNTER RIP MATE xx
Minister for The YARTZ.

Never tire of watching Les!

He was great. Best Aussie comedian ever
Absolutely

RIP Barry, you were a legend and a trailblazer.
Barry and Wogan were both absolutely outstanding at what they did.
How fitting that the young ones won, Jesus I was 20 then..
Loved him to bits.
i took him for granted..i miss him..Rip Bazza
The cheque stub line was genius.
One of my biggest thrills was to see Sir Les (and Edna) live on stage (from a safe distance, 5 rows back!) 🤣
Best comedian in the world , so clever sharp as !! Les was just an awesome character
Are You With Me......Classic Barry. RIP
Legend. RIP.
brilliant,no other word for him
You little ripper. RIP.

Brilliant, thanks for posting this 👍
"G'day Woges! How are ya, son, No worries." 🤣🤣🤣
Barry's Les Patterson was comedy gold. A sadly missed Aussie treasure.
Barry H, Peter Cook and Robin Williams - gee, god must be having a hilarious time.
The greatest of his creations
So Funny, So Fantastic & So Entertaining !
Loved his comedy still do.
RIP to Australia's most honest politician!
BH was a genius at working a live audience.
A comic genius.....
The face changes, and everything 👏👏👏 RIP

"Are you with me!?"
Such a class act
He made life real.
Barry Humphries was that rarest of human beings - a true genius.
And Sir Les Patterson was, for me, his greatest creation.
Sheer perfection.
Loved him,may he RIP
Frank Bough enjoying Sir Les's naughty remarks about Terry doing it 3 times a week (no surprises there) and Lenny Henry witnessing something he will never be....funny. RIP Barry Humphries.
Bang on guppy especially bout Henry 😊
Brilliant.
More laughs in 4 mins of Sir Les than in an entire series of The Young Ones
Genius.
Brilliant man and clever
He reminds me of the character “Tony Clifton”. Sleazy, obnoxious and arrogant. I really love this kind of humor.
Fearless, irreverent satirist he’ll be. Much missed
Genius.❤
Les Patterson, what a character 😂
Humphries successfully conquered his own, real alcohol addiction in 1969. Kudos. Less Patterson? Sheer hilarious insight.
"Joan Collins was a personal friend of mine ,she loved perfume. You would never guess what she put behind her ears to attract the men folk" Long pause and a drink. "HER ANKLES" LOL
Finest Cultural Attache Australia ever had.
Pure genius
The man was funny, Ken Dodd too, hopefully making heaven a hilarious place to be.
No worries
BLOODY HELL 😃😃😂PURE GENIUS AT WORK 😃😃😂😀
Never had to resort to using "fu*k" or "fu*king" to get a laugh...unlike comedians today.
RIP. The greats are all leaving us, leaving poor imitations behind.
Barry Humphries was not interviewed , it was either Dame Edna or Sir Les and the interviewer and audience were absorbed into the character.
He was brilliant,wasn’t he.
His joke about drag queens bashing a grannie is most apt!
Barry was too good for the British establishment and royalty! RIP legend. We ‘common’ poms love you!
My grandson found some clips of sir Les and asked his dad who the rude man with all the food stains on his shirt was. 😂
The good old days 🎉
A genius ❤❤❤
No worries!
Brilliant. 😂😂
The interesting thing about the shows up for the award is that the winner seems to have completely disappeared from the TV listings. The other show turn up regularly on British television despite being rather old.
Lovely stuff - an' I thought Sir Terry handled it all sweetly too... 🥰
Good Result too.
It is sad that Humphries outlived Rik Mayall.
Many of Riks characters were clearly influenced by the great Les Patterson.
Just love Sir Les..
Losing their fellow Aussie Barry Humphries was so profound that Sir Les and Dame Edna retired from public life
Are you with me?
I always suspected that Sir Les and Dame Edna were having an affair behind Gwen's back.
She really detested him; thought he was an uncouth embarrassment to the Australian diplomatic corps.
Funniest Australian ever 🤣
Properly made Wogan laugh
Sir Les was bloody hilarious. RIP Barry Humphries, a comic genius, I wonder how long before the politically correct brigade try to have these classic videos removed for TH-cam?
Let's give "Les Patterson saves the world" another shot this Friday night.
Remember him growing up in the 80s when pc land didn't excist.. Funny then and funny now.. No worries 🤣are you with me!!
RIP Sir. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I see Lenny Henry was there...he makes Barry look like a comedian!
Talk about comedy Gold for Australia 👍👍👍🤔
His stomach is so. Big haha he cant see his feet
"Legend"
sadly taken far too early
Do yaself a favor and get yaself a copy of A Travellers Tool...written by Les himself....funniest book ever written.
Are you with me????
Australia has lost an All Time Great....James
Silly Bloody Yanks had no idea what he was on About
U.S ambassador and his wife certainly did when they attended a show at Canberra Theatre…
