Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and posting the house tour. Sometimes it takes a person several tries to find their style and I think you've found yours.
In our old house, after I came upon the color for our living room of Sherwin William's "Gray Goose", I stuck with it for years.I loved how the color changed in different lighting.
Mary your home is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It was so awesome seeing all the changes throughout the years and honestly, it looked so comfortable and stylish for each and every era. I love the kitchen beams, the faux shiplap line in bedroom everything just beautiful. And who wouldn't want all of that gorgeous property. The beautiful country living, the peaceful pond and the nature around you. WOW!! I call you blessed Mary. Thanks for taking us along. A beautiful home. 🤗
Mary, Mary thank you !for the wonderful home tour. The home was beautiful when your parents had it. The home was beautiful when you and John took over. The home is absolutely beautiful today. You and your family are changing with the times. Thanks for sharing with us. An inspiration!
Loved the tour! Thanks! I want to share, our home is over 100 years old and when we bought it 40 years ago, the small footed tub in our bathroom confused me a little. I am so glad we had it sandblasted and refinished. Our bath is white smoke on the walls, cherry woodwork and vanity, wood plank look floor with white footed tub. I am almost 70 now and my footed tub is my comfort and joy each evening! I highly recommend a footed tub! The only drawback is cleaning the floor under the tub. I have found easier ways to clean through the years and won't give up my tub until I can no longer get in and out of it! We have our perfect retirement home....5 rooms with 17 windows. We had purchased this house to flip...but when the coal mines closed we were just finishing our project. This house found a place in our hearts and we love it and our neighbors too much to ever move. I found your site during the long days of covid....and I still look forward to each new video!
It's PERFECT, THE B4 & AFTER, I have actually learned from YOU, the difference between colored, versus your white, the white stands out SO MUCH BETTER,. thank you for teaching me new methods for changing to a much simple & warmer home
We built our house 35 years ago…….. I never stopped to really think of all the changes, upgrades, and additions we did through the years both inside and out.
How lucky you are to live in such an incredibly beautiful, light, roomy, airy home. A true labor of love. Your current design scheme is stunning. If I owned a home, I would emulate your style.
It's all beautiful...I recently thought about changing my decor from the dark primitive colors to more of a white color, similar to yours, but most of my hutches, cabinets are in dark colors, and the thought of repainting them all white...I'm exhausted at the thought.
My mother had that same couch that your mom had.😊 Funny how much we change over the years and like you I have moved away from most colors and I love white, light and bright.
It’s always fun to watch the progression over the years of your home. All the changes additions and subtractions of your furniture etc. to see how our tastes change over years
I like the way your home looks now, inside and outside. It is so bright and peaceful, and outside it is so lush, and green! You have a beautiful place there.
Yes. I enjoyed this video. I even caught myself smiling when I remember some of the changes over the years. I can't believe how long it's been that I have looked forward to Wednesday mornings at 9am!
That's the fun of home ownership, changing things however you want them. A refresh gives you a mental boost. I have had our living room painted a pale blue-grey that changes color through out the day for about 15 yrs and just can't leave that color, it is so calming.
I had to smile when you pointed out the laundry on the stairs, waiting to be carried up. I grew up in a two-story house with all four bedrooms upstairs and the laundry on the first floor. There was always a stack of something on the stairs and when one of us four kids started up the steps, my mother's voice came from some unseen place, "Don't go up those stairs empty-handed!". Decades later my youngest brother, a roofing foreman, would call to his workers "Don't go up that ladder empty-handed!" and smile, remembering our training.
Your property is a piece of heaven on earth. A house is always a work in progress and thank you for sharing the different stages & styles it went through.
They say the white kitchen is outdated, but your beautiful kitchen is stunning!!! So stunning that my plans to continue with a white kitchen are going forward!!! You are an inspiration! Thank you!!!
Love all the changes you have made over the years Mary! We have been married for almost 40 years and the two homes we have lived in have been changed so many times too. Our current home has gone through some major changes and will continue as long as we are able to do the changes ourselves. I hear younger people say "I don't know what I was thinking with those color or style choices." when they refer to design aesthetics they loved in the past. It's always funny to hear that because I think it is perfectly normal to like a look and then change your mind about it in the future. We loved the look so much that we made changes to our homes. Then when we grow tired of the look, we can change it! The great thing about redoing our homes is that we can change things as we see fit for what we currently like. We don't have to be stuck in one way of decorating. Just because we loved flowered wallpaper in the 80s in mauve colors doesn't mean it has to stay that way. We can change it! Our homes will feel fresh again rather than growing stagnant looking. That's the beauty of making all things new again! Thanks for sharing the changes in your home! Happy and blessed New Year to you and your family!🥰
Hello from România ! You have a beautiful home! If you put the Curtains closer to the ceiling the room will look better and the windows larger. God bless you!
Your home and property look so special and it must feel even more that way for you, since it is where you grew up. I love the improvements you have made
Indeed inspiring! I always like to put my mind to change, or better improvement of our home. Being 60 years of age I've had my share of changes. Yet , looking back, I can follow a certain thread throughout all my developements.
Agree & I wish I had Mary's skill with power tools and even wish I owned some of those same power tools. With the skill to use them drastic changes can be made to a home.
Thank you, Mary, for allowing us to see the before and after pictures of your home. I am with you in gravitating toward white walls. It is so peaceful.
It's amazing how a bit of paint and thoughtful changes can make a home so different. I really like the way your home looks now and how the decor and colors have brightened the look of the house. Great changes, Mary. I look forward to seeing further changes as you make as time goes on. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Loved watching the metamorphosis of your home into it's present state. Here are a couple of ideas for your stairway: Perhaps paint a pattern onto them to make them look like an old vintage Persian style rug is going up them or install an actual real Persian or other style rug. This could also help with the amount of noise while you try to sleep. Or paint some sort of pattern on the back of each step, the pattern could be anything, flowers, vines, birds, words.
I think your ideas is fantastic if you like the Persian styles, but I think they would look beautiful staying white and adding a natural new step all the way up I just think with white having the step natural wood is gorgeous.. but the Persian is beautiful in some home with that style and the white and natural just seems to bring it all together in her home , the whites is so bright and beautiful makes the home so clean , natural and fresh and elegant let’s the sunlight pour in helping keep cost down on your utility bill which is very important with the cost inflation constantly increasing .. Also seeing a photo wall is so gorgeous leading up the stairway walls it a place that at times you just want to sit and stare at all of your family or family and friends you can easily just take a seat on your stairway and stare for hours . I just love a gorgeous stairway with the photo wall it shows the beauty and another heart of your home ...
@@southernwaysdesign7744 I think of Persian style rugs to be timeless classics which go with many different & various sorts of decor styles. Such as modern, eclectic, rustic, & farmhouse. I've seen Persian which can also be called Asian style rugs in decorating magazines used often in ultra modern living rooms they somehow ground a modern room and create a warmer vibe. The rugs I'm describing are the same sort of rugs musicians often use on stage during their rock, folk, or country concerts. I love both the primitive country look and the farmhouse look. Both are cozy and welcoming. I have found as I get older that light and bright in my rooms is what I prefer.

Isn't it funny how styles change? At the time we love it and looking back we think "what was I thinking?" 🤣 I wondered what the story with the beams was...what a great idea you had, I love it! Your home is just beautiful today, inside and out. We built our home 50 years ago at age 20! It was on 1/2 an acre and now we have a full acre. The changes to ours, especially outside, are also amazing looking back.
Your home is absolutely lovely, Mary. The changes you've made over the years reflect beautifully your creativity and resourcefulness. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Mary FYI I started watching YT during the COVID shut down in March of 2020 and I found your channel not long after that. I watched you do your floor in your bathroom sometime during 2020 as you were painted it! I am a professional Artists working as a Graphic Designer for almost 40 years! My first thought when you painted that floor well it will never last, well you proved me wrong. As an Artist I do love color but your white is nice but not for me! I also struggle with anyone painting wood but so many do and it is nice but not for me either. I have those beautiful wooden oak cabinets in my kitchen and would NEVER paint them. I refinished a table that was my Grand parents that had so many layers of paint on it, it took forever when I was younger which let me with a bad taste to ever paint wood. Just me! I truly love your channel we live in Ohio about a hour from Berlin and I have bought many of your things! Thanks for keeping me entertained with your video! Happy New Year!
Love this video . When I watch your videos I always think how expensive and pretty your home is so I was happy to see how much of your home is diy and thrifted projects . You have done an amazing job and it gives me hope and great ideas for my home . Thank you
Everything looks great! What a fun video and so reassuring that even your lovely style progressed and evolved into what it is now. God’s blessings to you and yours in the new year!
Love seeing the pictures of before. I am 73 so I remember some of the look your Mon and Dad had 🙂 You have done a beautiful job updating. The outside is just gorgeous. Can you fish in the pond, it is so pretty. Thank you..
I think you've morphed your look to your home until it's perfect! I love the clean, crisp look of the white with subtle touches of wood tone and green. Love watching your channel!
Love the look of your home, inside and out. I’ve seen some 2023 predictions that white kitchens are out. Not for me! I’ve had white kitchens for decades and never grow tired of it. A white kitchen looks so fresh and clean..
It was a good lesson for us to see what you changed and why, what worked and what was a disappointment. There are people who work up the courage to try things, and when it isn't quite what they want, they are devastated. They are afraid to try again. They need to know that they aren't alone and that you, who have a beautiful home, have been where they are! Thank you for raising spirits and building hope!
Thanks for sharing, Mary. I believe a home is never finished. I have lived in my home for 35 years and have been changing things since I moved in. Just recently we made some major changes to the upstairs. New flooring, ceiling and torn down walls. Started saving for the bedrooms then will save for a basement redo. At the same time I am planning outside changes as well. We have a large backyard so I want to change my current vegetable garden to an herb garden and move the vegetable garden down further in the yard so I can grow more vegetables. Like I said, always a work in progress but I enjoy the process and will continue to work on it until I can’t anymore.
My home also changed over the last 20 years since we moved in .. I have done 95% of the work & changes.. it still needs something’s done , but I will get it done … one day ! But I’m so happy with my little home ❤
I think if you painted that wall behind your stairs, the one your bedroom door is on, it would give that space more depth and interest, and would make the pretty stair railings pop! Say, a pretty soft or deep green. Fun to see the changes :)
It has always Been beautiful, but my favorite way is how you have it now ,all the white. To me, the outside could not be any better. it is beautiful, Especially in the spring when all the trees bloom out & look beautiful. Love your home.
It’s amazing how our tastes change I went through the colorful phases and country primitive too, but I have to say your clean white colors are the best but that’s what I love too, it’s so fresh and clean. I just changed our red toned laminate flooring ( all we could afford at the time) to a nice rustic pecan luxury vinyl and we changed the countertops to an ikea white/ gray quartz and the sink to white too, updated the faucet to black. I redid the backsplash in beadboard painted white, it’s amazing what a few small changes can do!! Thanks for sharing Mary xxx
I think your final plan in white is the best ever, I never get tired of it because it’s bright and cheerful.
Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and posting the house tour. Sometimes it takes a person several tries to find their style and I think you've found yours.
I agree. Once I've found it, I go years without changing it. The best to you all in 2023!

Your home has always been beautiful from the Amish to the present
Love how it looks now. The outdoors area is so beautiful. Happy New Year to you and your family.
I love house tours and before-and-afters! ♥ Thank you, Mary, for sharing your home and the changes over the years. Sending love. ♥♥♥
Really enjoyed the video of before and after
Change is always good if it’s something you want. Loved all the before and afters.
Love to see your history, Mary. You are so blessed to be able to have your childhood home. Your home place is very beautiful. Thank you!

Your home is beautiful....
Loved the progress you’ve made! I do need to ask how you keep your house so clean and neat with 2 boys? 😂 TFS❤

Excellent description of the passage of time with decor!
I have been married almost 52 years! So much longer than you. God BlessAll.
That is awesome...loved seeing the transformation of your home.
You made a beautiful home. Dark colors make a small home smaller. It takes time to grow your own style, and you found yours. Lovely.

interesting. I will say, our stairway was a lot quieter with carpet on them, and kept less dust from getting into the bedrooms.
