Great video, dude! There’s so much gear that came out in the last 5 years that doesn’t get love. I’m a huge moog sound studio fan. I use it mine a ton. @5:20 was the sweet spot. Love me some DFAM videos 😃👍🏼
Cheers and thank you for checking out the video! I want a SECOND DFAM really bad, if I score one I will make a video right away. The sound studio is an absolute classic I agree…my gear acquisition syndrome is on 11!
Nathan! Thank you for showing us that small modular box u have! The DFAM sounds fantastic! I mean...a Moog. It's the boogie! and this track u made reminds me of Helm/ Vatican Shadow with the spirit of Muslimgauze. Nice!
It’s honestly the shit, sounds amazing and is so immediate. Check it out if you’re in the market cause Moog stopped making them! You might need to drop me some links I haven’t heard of these bands before.
Enjoyable video man! If I can echo another comment on here, get yourself a Subharmonicon. The way they play with each other leads to endless exploration and fun!
DFAM lacks midi so to sync with Logic you would need a Eurorack module like the MFAD or another CV to midi converter. The Drumbrute Impact does have Midi though so you could sync with that and take a clock out to the DFAM.
With the SQ-1 you can get much different sequences than what the native DFAM sequencer provides…different lengths, accents, two sequences at once (i think?). It’s a really easy and cheap way to open up the DFAM possibilities. Check out Loopop’s DFAM video…he uses an external sequencer and a Disting to get some cool patterns going.
I would have preferred it if you just used the DFAM and Korg SQ1 so I could have seen whats doing what. The DFAM is supposed to be the drummer so why did you need the Drumbrute and other thingey? I would have liked to have seen more depth in how exactly you programmed the SQ1 with the DFAM. Great video though and thank you.
Hey Peter, thanks for taking time to leave a comment and speak your mind. The SQ-1 in the video was a loaner…I didn’t fully understand its functionality enough to speak on it a ton. I was just trying to demonstrate that an external sequencer really opens up the DFAM. It’s understandable you would want to see more SQ-1 and I will seriously consider a future video focusing on it and the DFAM. The DrumBrute is in there because with it easily handling any bass/snare sounds the DFAM can really go wild. The best way to use the DFAM imo is to have two of them or to use it in conjunction with a regular drum machine.

Moog like vogue my man 👍🏼 I love my DFAM, pair it up with a delay and you’ll love yours even more. Happy travels 👍🏼

More DFAM? yes please 😊😊😊Would love to see how you use it in a mix!
Hell yeah I’ll be making another video asap! This thing is just so much fun to tinker with.

I definitely look around sometimes for them. Because some people say they are confounding I would love to test drive one first.
Dfam and subharmonicon are an awesome pairing
If you got one you want sell hmu :)
@@HiImNathan one of my favourite synths; it’s a keeper
I really like the Subharmonicon.
It Was literally my gateway into modular.
What kind of gear did it lead you to?
I have a Grandmother and Matriarch. I’m considering adding the DFAM and calling it “done”
This is easy, YES DO IT. It’s honestly amazing.
And a mother 32. That’s my semi modular set up. GM. Matriarch. M32. DFAM. I have other stuff but that’s my modular corner.
@@final_mile_music9713What is your process for linking everything together? Are you running clock to all four devices?
This is so cool. How can I sync up a DFAM / Drumbrute combo to record with Logic? Thinking of jumping in after seeing what you made.
DFAM lacks midi so to sync with Logic you would need a Eurorack module like the MFAD or another CV to midi converter. The Drumbrute Impact does have Midi though so you could sync with that and take a clock out to the DFAM.
very cool, so with the korg sq1 you can extend the dfams limited 8 step sequencer to longer?

There’s a way to add usb midi to dfam
Yeah I’ve seen the MFAD module which seems super sick and a great solution to the DFAM’s midi ‘problem’. I’m going to look on Ebay for one right now!
@@HiImNathan using Decay automation in daw you can control note length for each note for dynamic modern 808 sub bass

Why are you poking it with a stick? 🤣
Ever seen Antiques Roadshow? I learned this special technique there!
