    Ill be honest with you, it's 02.24 in the morning and I've just come downstairs to make a cuppa and take some painkillers for the neuropathy in my feet, and I happened across this video whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. The performance at the end had me bopping round the kitchen. Thanks, it really cheered me up!

      @@nealwhoMuch, thank you. And you're welcome. I really enjoyed the entire video, but the performance at the end was outstanding. And you ended it perfectly. It was a very good demonstration of what you can do when the rhythm is fully sequenced leaving you free to tweak and twiddle. It almost makes me want to get a Mother32, but I already have a Crave, so there's no point really.

    I bought this about a year ago, such a great addition to the DFAM if only for the ability to reset, but also being able to play any step in any order really opens up the possibilities of the DFAM, and made my favorite synth even better!

    Great video and freakin’ awesome groove at the end!! Can you do more with the MAFD than, let’s say, controlling the DFAM via CV Tools in Ableton? For instance the random order of steps…?

    • @nealwho
      @nealwho  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a DC coupled audio interface, I suppose you can control the DFAM via CV Tools in Ableton. You may be able to get the same results as the MAFD, but I haven't tried doing that.

    • @musacha1978
      @musacha1978 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nealwho I have tried that, and am finding it a bit complicated. MAFD seems more versatile/flexible. One issue I ran into is that I have not enough outs on my DC coupled interface (Presonus Studio 68C) to control everything. I think this isn’t an issue with the MAFD…?

    • @nealwho
      @nealwho  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@musacha1978 The MAFD is controlled via MIDI, then the MAFD sends CV out to the DFAM. So it's a different approach than sending CV out you audio interface to control the DFAM.

    • @goonfish
      @goonfish 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@musacha1978 you should run the CV Tools voltages out of your 68C via the S/PDIF output (if you have the breakout cable) into an S/PDIF-based CV generator, like one of the Expert Sleepers or alternative modules.

    What are the primary differences between the standard and Luxe version for a single DFAM owner? Little new to eurorack. The luxe CC cabilities seem tempting to provide really in-depth control and modulation of the DFAM via MIDI. But crucially want to sync clocks between my subharmonicon, m32, and future gear. Maybe Luxe is overkill.

    • @nealwho
      @nealwho  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, looks like the Luxe version can control 2 DFAMs, adds 4 more MIDI to CC, plus 1 v Oct, gate, trigger, and 4 different clock outs. It's pretty cool if you can utilize all those outputs. If not, then definitely overkill.

    Hey I have one question how you are selecting the step with Midi???? That functionality is part of the MAFD I guess because the Advance/Clock input doesn't allow that.
    Maybe the MAFD is triggering so fast the advance to select based on the incomming Midi note?

    • @nealwho
      @nealwho  ปีที่แล้ว

      The MIDI notes select the steps. If you watch around 03:22, you'll see me hitting C1which is step one, then I hit D1 which is step 3.

    Does this work well if it connects via the following path: keystep>Digitakt>soundclasp/DFAM?

  • @richardjames111

    How does it work when using a DAW?? For example, i'd want to be using Push 2 with Ableton... Is it a particular note being played in the DAW that will relate to a particular step on the DFAM sequence??

    • @nealwho
      @nealwho  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not familiar with Push 2, but it's just like playing a keyboard from the DAW. You can set any key for step 1. I usually do C 3 for the first step, then the rest of the steps follow with each ascending key. I hope that answers your question.

    is there anyway to get pitch quantization from the daw to the dfam with this?

    • @nealwho
      @nealwho  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried this, but I think you could tune each step using a tuner, patch a cable from PRSSR/MW out of the MAFD into the VCO 1 CV in. Create a MIDI track for PRSSR/MW out, and send it pitch information, then run a quantizer plugin on that MIDI track.
