Predator 420cc Valve Adjustment

Today we are going to adjust the valves on our Harbor Freight Predator 13 HP 420cc overhead valve motor with electric start! It has been backfiring!

Why put a finger over the spark plug hole to find the compression stroke and then insert a wood dole to find the TDC. I need to do this but looking for the setting spec gaps.

I found the specs in the manual that comes with the engine

Specs for the 420cc used in the Cub cadet snow blower are very hard to find. The dealer finally found some when he figured out what brand name of the engine actually is and it's built by LCT. Intake gap is .005 to .007 and Exhaust is .007 to .009.
