I broke mine in by putting it straight to work. Never knew it had to be broke in. Still running strong
Awesome
Thanks for a thorough video. Most clowns on TH-cam don’t understand what a how to video means. Thanks
You’re welcome and thank you!
Is the engine still working out for ya? Just bought one for my stump grinder and was wondering if these engines can take some abuse. Thanks
Thanks for the info! Drainzit ordered.
Hope you like it!
Prior to your initial start you could of pulled out the spark plug, cycled it a few times slowly with the pull start to get oil up in the cylinder, and then put the spark plug back in and started it for the initial break in period of an hour at idle. Getting oil up in the cylinder prior to the initial start saves a lot of wear and tear on the cylinder, ring, and piston...
Just bought one. Thanks for the advice.
Apparently you never opened one of these motors up . The oil gets sling from the cranks oil slinger. Just by pull starting rope it will never rotate the crank fast enough. To throw the oil anywere.
@@Bsetzd came here to say this exact thing

Very helpful ol son ty🤙
Happy to help
Any plans on a external fuel tank? Those are great engines for the money! Thanks for the vid brother
I am planning on adding at least a 6-gallon tank. After my first day using it the factory tank will only last about 2-3 hours or so. Thanks for watching bro.
@@KentuckyWashPros Yessir I'm thinking about using a 6 gallon marine tank or aluminum
@@KentuckyWashPros I just purchased a Predator 420, is the fuel gravity fed or will it draw from a separate tank? I'd like to use a larger tank if it will draw.
As far as break in gos, you really need to put a load on it. But it's not rocket science.
Great video. Very well explained. Do you know about any water pump compatible with this engine? Thanks!!
Not sure exactly what your talking about?
Sounds like he's trying to build a pressure washer
@@jayg9952 yes hopefully he looked at the rest of the build videos
Kentucky Wash Pros: you showed us the used oil and said there was a little bit of shiny stuff, and it was okay. I didn't see Any shiny stuff, and What Defines NOT Okay??? How much is too much? And what are we supposed to do if there Is Too Much?
Great video. Where did you buy the skid plate? I want to do a similar build.
I got it off Amazon but unfortunately now they are sold out.
Where did you get that stand at?
amazon
Awesome video brother! One thing I thought I'd mention after recently watching another video about the Honda GX.. the guy showed the dipstick on these engines is basically useless and that you should fill the oil to the threads. I confirmed this with my local small engine repair shop. Have a good one!
Thanks
Hi i was wondering if why you have to break it in and is it necessary
Not necessary, you could just use it as normal and change the oil at like the 10 hour mark
@@KentuckyWashPros why would you not just change it at the normal 8hr mark?
Did your engine ever smoke up a bit after tilting it?
Nope it could be a sign of too much oil.
@@KentuckyWashPros yah that was the issue I drained a few and since then it’s been running amazingly
What is the hour meter you have on there?
I just picked one up from amazon, I believe it was a 2 pack
Is this the same for the predator pressure washer?
Honestly I’m not sure, you’ll never want to run it without water hooked up to it or you’ll mess your pump up
How’s that motor doing?
This motor now has 200+ hours and zero issues other than the baffle went out in the muffler but doesn’t affect the performance. If it went down today I’d buy another one
Hi
👍🏻
Don’t you need to run water through it when running?
It’s just the engine, there’s no pump hooked up to it
It’s an air cooled engine dude. I guess common sense isn’t common these days, lol
@@KentuckyWashProsI think maybe that’s what he’s asking if you should install pump but instructions say no or low load for 1st 3 hours.
Would I be able to use full synthetic 10w-30 oil for this motor
Yes
You should not use synthetic oil during break-in.
$420 today just 9 months later
On sale right now for $369
@@KentuckyWashPros just bought the full washer 4400psi 4.2gpm that they offer with this engine. got it on sale with a 2 year warranty for $1200. applied for the harbor freight credit card and if you’re just applying for it you can do 12 months/$100 0% interest unless you miss a payment so basically free it will pay for itself
Oil is not oil.
