It's kind of unique when you meet up as you feel that you know the person after all the back and forth you have in the comments section, plus we met virtually on your channel when we ranked Who's Next. Look forward to getting back together on your channel.
Hi Randy!!! another great update and cool vinyl finds..... yeah, Steve's going to be very proud of your Mott and Ian Hunter's albums, he always talks good things about them. Need to get that Stones and also some BOC, right now i don't anything from them.... cheers and be well
Thanks Sam. They must have repressed the Strange Tails album because it has very pricey for a while. I thought you would approve of that one. We need to put more peer pressure on Glen some that he will finally pick up Hackney Diamonds.
@@samstjohn1994 Mine is from IAmSound and is on black vinyl and is kind of expensive on Discogs now. I looked and it is not available on Amazon anymore which is where I bought it.
Good to hear that you like the new Stones record. Funny.. I've been building my BOC collection as well. Rose of England" is a great one. It's worth it to have twice ! I'm enjoying my Doo Wop 45s that I have been finding here and there..
I think that I if you like Steel Wheels by The Stones, you will like the new one. I think all of Nick Lowe’s albums are worthwhile, but I am really getting into Rose Of England lately. Years ago, there was a vacuum repair place that sold 45’s in the back that were mostly doo wop. I sure wish I had bought more when I had the chance.
I like Steel Wheels, but.. Nick Lowe is way more interesting to me these day's ! At that thrift store, I picked up as many Doo Wop 45's as possible ! My Giants just got swept by the Yankees Arrrgh 😭
@@jtsrecordroom3963 I don't think that Nick Lowe ever made a bad album. It's great that you were able to find all those 45's. My Royals finally won today, so maybe they can get back on track.
Hi Randy! There were so many versions of Hackney Diamonds, but I went with the standard on black vinyl. The clear does look pretty cool however! I don't know that Nick Lowe album, and great you saw him in concert. I think I remember you mentioning a concert in one of your previous videos. You are officially a Smiths completist. I actually saw the Bete Noire tour in the summer of /87 in Ottawa. Really good. ✌
I think that Nick Lowe never made a bad album and if you are a fan, it's well worth getting. There are some single and b-side albums by The Smiths that I have my eye on now. It's cool that you were able to see Bryan Ferry on that tour. I need to get more of his solo output. Thanks Mike.
Hi Randy. Glad you had a good road trip. You've picked up some really nice things , love those early Blue Oyster Cult albums, but they're difficult to find on vinyl in the UK. Mott the Hoople records turn up quite a bit but they're always beaten up. Ian Hunter solo is pretty good I think, probably underrated overall. I have an original and a reissue of Meat is Murder, though I'm only a moderate Smiths fan. Cheers, James
I only had The Smiths debut for years and bought a few Morrissey solo albums during my CD years. It is only recently that I started getting back into The Smiths and started getting their other albums. I have been working on my Blue Oyster Cult and Mott The Hoople discography lately which has led me to Ian’s catalog. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Excellent finds. I still haven't even heard Hackney Diamonds, apart from the first single. Congrats on completing the Smiths. I'll be meeting Gary (along with several other VC people) in July 🙂
That sounds like quite a meetup this July. I think it’s a good but not great Stones album. I think that if you like Steel Wheels, you will like this one. I guess I need to look at The Smiths singles and B-side releases next.
I've always been intrigued by the idea of The Monks, although I'm not familiar with their music. Those Hamburg recordings sound like they'll be interesting.
A film channel is not a bad idea - for a while there the TH-cam algorithm kept suggesting DVD collection videos, movies on physical format seems to be a trending topic or something. Never seen that BOC album. Have not heard Lord Huron but someone on here used to mention them. I do not have any Monks but a friend of mine wrote the liner notes for the Light In The Attic reissue of their Black Monk Time album a few years back. Cheers!
I have started to notice channels showing physical media such as blu-rays, 4K and DVDs, so I guess there is a market. I hardly ever find any worthwhile albums at thrift stores but there are nice DVDs to be had. The first two BOC albums had these black and white covers and I really enjoyed them although my favorites are a couple of later ones. That's cool that a friend of yours wrote the liner notes for the Monks release. That is supposed to be their classic album and it seems hard to find now. I hope that you had a good weekend.
Cool pickups. Hackney Diamonds is my favorite Rolling Stones album now. It’s also the only album I own from them. I just heard Defiance Part 1 recently and I liked the album. It’s weak on the vocals but the guitar playing is real good.
I would put Hackney Diamonds in the Steel Wheels echelon of the Stones catalog, but that is still really good. Ian Hunter's voice has aged a bit (he is 84 now) but I still enjoyed his performance. Thanks for watching.
I’ve been a big fan of Nick Lowe and even more so after seeing him in concert. He does several really nice covers on this album. I’m working on my BOC collection. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Welcome back Randy. Nice vinyl finds of various genres. Very cool that you and Gary met and had lunch together.

Thanks Cristian. I would have guessed that you had some BOC. I really enjoy Mott The Hoople and I'm working on Ian's solo albums. Thanks for watching.
Hackney Diamonds is a fantastic record, love it! So glad you grabbed Strange Trails, that record feels nearly perfect to me. Thanks for the shout out!
Thanks Sam. They must have repressed the Strange Tails album because it has very pricey for a while. I thought you would approve of that one. We need to put more peer pressure on Glen some that he will finally pick up Hackney Diamonds.
Yeah they repressed it on Magnolia I think? Mine is a green and brown variant.

I was not familiar with The Monks either; I'm just glad Aaron thought that I would like it when I won his contest. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hope you enjoyed your time in Columbus, Randy! Sorry to have missed you. Great pickups my friend!
I do go the film festival every year, so I will have to get your information before I go next year. Cheers.
Some fine albums there. Love that BOC album, and the Nick Lowe one looks a winner. I expect he does a great version of 'Indoor Fireworks'.

The vinyl / CD debate continues!
I still haven't quite figured it out yet either.
