I picked my new HS up 4days ago and so far it's been fine, There are some things I don't like and some stuff that it has to go back for like the auto lock is not working and the DAB radio will not pick up lots of channels which is a bit odd, But over the ride and drive has been fine. But I am happy with it so far and its a big car for the money.
Had my MG HS Trophy for a week and can only say WOW in the value for money SUV market, The drive is very comfortable and feels quicker than the 9.9 sec 0 - 62 . The amount of kit is crazy for the price this is a very good sized SUV, interior actually feels quite premium is it without fault NO but is it incredible value for very little money YES. I would have liked a rear interior light and some physical dials/ buttons and a bit better ecconomy but as this seems to be the way modern cars are heading and I realise that there has to be some compromise this really is a great car for the money. I have driven many cars that have 4x the price tag that have not felt twice as good, Mind over Heart 7 year warranty this is the car.
I've had the pleasure of hiring this car for a week and I must say I was really impressed! Only downside I noticed was the shifter would often get stuck in N when trying to reverse. It took at least 2-3 shifts to get into reverse, which isn't great. But ride comfort, practicality, quality and space was really impressive.
It looks great spec wise, just don’t look at the mpg real world less than 36mpg, my Tiguan Elegance 2.0L 150 DSG diesel real world 46mpg in 30 months of driving over 60mpg on a journey.
While still considering, i have been scrutinizing the 7 yr warranty. Duration wise. For the ice engine (auto gearbox) Its only going to cover engine if under the 80k mileage ( if you have regular full mg service history) other items have up too 12 weeks only and moving on for other parts up to 3 yrs or a certain mileage , If any of these items fail in the 12 weeks or fail after 3 years you are left (warrantyless) on your jack Jones . Just sayin .
I had hired this car for a week and really liked how easy it was to drive. It’s not perfect like the infotainment system, fuel consumption but the driving assist system is great
nice one mate 👍 like your review style , shame the uk version now doesnt have glass roof as a option as was with the previous hs , but it seems our european neighbours do have a glass roof in retweaked model, if desired ?
160hp! Ive just got one as a courtesy car and it feels like it has about 90! Horrendously slow. View out of the rear window is shocling and the reverse camera shows half the number plate. I would be mad if i bought one.
Drove one for a few days as a rental and it's decent. But not a very good car to drive. Especially on bumpy roads or lots of corners. First impression looks good but look closely and you see this is not premium. By far. And it's not economical at all. Climate control is fiddely. Cruise control too.
Temperamental electronics, uncomfortable seats, horrible automatic gear box……..I’ve been driving one for the weekend and it’s aweful. They’ve had a good go but there’s a reason it’s 22k less than the Tiguan I have in order.
Having driven German and Japanese cars for years. I got this as a temporary car in the 6 speed manual. The drive is terrible. Everything from the clutch, the ride it’s terrible. Never driven such a temperamental car.
Its beyond me why they didnt make the mg hs with a diesel option, stick in a 1.6 or 2.0 turbo diesel engine and it be economical too, ive got a jeep renegade 1.6 multijet diesel limited edition and its great on fuel over 60 mpg and one trip managed 83 mpg, an has plenty go about it too, only 120 hp but 320 nm torque so great for overtaking , they need stick this mutijet diesel engine into the mg hs and it would make a big difference in real world mpg 👍😁🏴
How these cars are getting 5 star ncap ratings beggars belief, mgs autopilot has to be one of the most dangerous ‘safety’ systems I’ve ever experienced, it’s almost as though it’s a tick in the box exercise about what a car has rather than does it actually work.
What’s wrong with it ? I have been using it for more than 2 years now and it’s been always reliable . I use it very often like the moment I get onto motorway .
I’ve had several of these from AVIS rental and have to say I’m impressed with the quality inside for the price. Negatives for me are USB-A! Ports. What a joke in a modern car and a nightmare if you have the latest iPhone with USB-C as it’s difficult to get a cable. The electric tailgate is annoying you have to tap the capacitive button and immediately step back if you try and help it the tailgate just stops and is heavy to open manually. Oh and the speed warning voice is so annoying and I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off.
Just bought the petrol only version. Absolutely trash!!!!! The gear box and engine are rubbish plus the quality of the used materials screams cheap China..... I wish I never bothered with this overpriced junk.....
You didn’t drive a test to check car on road , you didn’t touch materials inside before purchase? Really you spend 20k £ and now you are crying like a little girl?
All cars are copies of each other, nothing new there, that’s why they all look more or less the same. Responding to market demand they call it. Ford are the current design leaders like it or not, they have owned all the leading British automakers over the past decades and have therefore the design rights. The Aston Martin design is predominantly in the Ford range today. Transmissions from acquisitions are also identifiable.

A modern vehicle only doing 30mpg is a big turn off for me.
Mate I can't even get 30 in getting 25mpg big mistake
AMT mode ( 45 to 50 mpg !! 😊 - easily accessible in Engineering mode

Chinese rubbish.
If you check the warranty by parts, it's not anything you may think it is.
Buying an mg is like buying a bluetooth speaker from poundland

Yes, we have a panoramic roof in Poland :) !
I can see the attraction but the one I had on rental for a week was a very disappointing drive and the audio is awful.
Trying too hard to be a Clarkson clone.

Diesel is being banned in the UK so not much point unfortunately!

The owners of MG make parts for most of main brands including vw/ seat/ Audi,/ Skoda, so will look alike but should also prove to be reliable
