Took my motability lease on the mg HS after watching your review and again you mention the actual things people need to know rather than oh heres 5 minutes on an exhaust so thank you
We are just about to do the same picking it up next week how have you found it since first getting it I was quite impressed with what I saw very nice looking car We have a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer Elite at present but we've no need for such a big car now our kids are older.
Can I ask how you are liking the car please I’m thinking of ordering the trophy on motability and fed up with all the negative stuff I hear. I have test driven it and liked it but some groups are putting me off
@LouvuiLove my wife has the same car. And I can tell You that the 1.5 petrol car is very thirsty. I put £30 in it on the Sunday, and by the Thursday, I was topping it up. You may think well yeah it depends on how many miles I do. I have no need to tell you any lies, but I was. Surprised. But I carried on with my experiment. I drive a volvo 2.4 d5 and I put £30 in it and last nearly 2 weeks. I find that when the Car is in Normal mode it judders when moving off so what i find myself putting it in super sport and once it gets into 2nd I depress the button. There are other things that I don't like but this is my main gripe . 👍
I have the new HS since September 2023. Value for money for the top of the range Trophy. The only negative I have is fuel economy, and the auto gear box can be jerky around town, but I'm comparing to my previous BMW X1 , which has the best auto boxes in the industry. The HS has lots of room, and the interior quality is really nice. True the infotainment system could be better and is laggy. The engine is nippy for a 1.5l petrol. The rear room is very spacious, but the boot is small for the size of the car. Overall, I'm happy and pound for pound you can't buy better. The 7 year warranty won me over when buying the MG HS.
I agree with it can be jerky in low gears, I have the 2024 model I use the Eco mode I get around 40mpg I keep to speed limits and am not heavy on the accelerator pedal
I’m considering a 2023 MG HS (facelift) VS 2017 BMW X1 (f48). They’re roughly around the same price. One’s a much newer car, the other has the badge 😅. Since you’ve owned both, which would you recommend?
@teknobeatno for pure drive and quality it's the X1. Try to get the xline model. If you are doing a lot of miles, then the 2.0 diesel or if you are driving less than 7000 miles a year, then I would get the 2.0 petrol on a auto box like i had. The petrol model is faster and much more economical than the MG hs
We bought our has trophy back in January brand new almost 6 months on not a issue lot's of people are negative but you literally get what you pay for 7 years warranty is a no brainer
As a Motability customer I have had the MG HS Excite on a 21 plate since August 2021 .... The bings & bongs and flashing lights on dash took a while to adapt to I must say ... But after the initial drives got used to them and how to turn things off or limit ;) .... nearly 3 years down the line and I am about to order the New MG HS Trophy as my new vehicle because all in all the car does what it says on the tin ;) .... Drive comfort is perfect and my passengers always say nice comfy car ... Handling is good ... Economy is down to driving style in my opinion .... I have an Automatic and yes the transmission lags on the odd occasion but not a major issue in my opinion. Infotainment system does have it's own issues and goes blank on occasions but can live with that minor issue .... Top tip with Apple Play is use an Apple USB lead and not after market to prevent connection issues . All in all I stand by the MG HS as a good vehicle hence why I am sticking with the MG HS as my new vehicle just going up a notch to the Trophy coz I like gadgets ;)
I have the new shape Hs trophy and it's infotainment display is better than the previous model. The looks are better and it's alloy wheels are more stylish
I have a 2021 Nissan x trail n connecta on motability that my little boy has just lost. Would you recommend the trophy over the xtrail to buy ? I’m not well off and this would need to fit his wheelchair ☺️ does it come in automatic?
I'm waiting for my MG HS 2023 right now. I should get in a few days. Could you answer me two questions? First - How well does apple car play work? Is it extreme laggy and unusable? Or is it okay? Second - Could you give me by any chance the right dimensions of the boot? Width and Length? Would be great Thanks and regards!
Just bought one and I do like it but the interior lighting is a bit lack lustre, especially annoying is there's no rear roof light so my kids fastening the rear seat belts at night find it hard to find the seat belt buckles.
Thank you for your comment. That is one of the things with the HS is that it is great in a lot of areas but forget the little things. I'm sure the next generation will have improvements there. MG have a strong reputation when it comes to feedback from their customers.
@@AutoBears it's my first MG I've ever bought and have been impressed with it. If they do fix these little things then I look forward to their next generation, maybe with a bit cheaper hybrid version. Cheers for the video.
I suggest anyone considering buying one should first look at the trustpilot score...71% 1 star. Main issues lack of customer support and MG use any reason not to fulfill 7 year warranty
Would you choose this or the Nissan xtrail n connecta e- power auto ? I’m on motability but not loving the super high advance payment for the x trail. I currently drive a 21 plate n connecta xtrail 🤔 help please I don’t know what to do
I’m 6’4” and the rear view mirror was a massive issue. I basically couldn’t see out the left of the car. May as well of had half a windscreen. Apart from that was a good car to drive but beyond a test drive I couldn’t get past the rear view mirror issue. Shame
warranty is a bit disheartening as well as no sunroof in top of range in UK ALSO A MUCH BETTER DUEL COLOUR INTERIOR BEING BLACK/ BEIGE , BETTER LOOKING AND BETTER FOR RESALE as available in 1st world cambodia or rumania or serbia ect ect
Auto gearbox is horrid at low speeds, drivers seat adjustment is a must & the entertainment system is awful. Great comfy ride though & pretty good value but will it be a better buy at say 2 / 3 years old ?
Hey there is an update in Enginner Mode. You can adjust the gearbox there. There is the setting AT & AMT. Here you have to set the mode to AMT for the automatic transmission. Many people report better handling and a better transition between gears, especially at low speeds. To be honest, it's not extremely bad, if you don't attach any importance to it, you won't notice it. However, with the AMT mode, the whole driving behavior is different. In addition, fuel consumption is actually improved.
Latest news from insurance company even they told me lots of issues with 21 plate mine went back to dealers 12 times for different issues glad to see the back of it 😀 got Honda ZRV 24 plate lovely car

Make sure its and auto box. The manuals are a big let down.
If you hold the interior mirror at both ends and push and pull it will swing upwards to help with the rear view from seating posistion ..
Great review -- these MGs are getting better and better. Visually, it's a very smart car.
Thanks, finally one guy that tell/show me that the steering wheel adjustable !
Hello wich is the better used choice 2022 ds4 or 20223 mg hs /as im considering both

Now it's even cheper across EU.
It starts from 22900 euros or 20000 pounds and with 7 year warranty it is great car for average people.
Been told in standard autobox roundtown only gives 30 mpg 😢😢

The sound system is rubbish not loud at all
It has a bose system
Great review😊
Good review, thanks a lot. The big question is the reliability.
Thank you. Dependability is a big factor with MG cars with some being faultless, and others having little gremlins.
Great review 👍👍. Just wondering what the manual version is like? Would the mpg be better? Thanks
Another excellent review.
Stelantis had better revise their outlandish prices. Thank you Bear

If the auto is a bit jerky is the manual the better one to go for 🤔
It could be the one to go for but my referencing of the jerky auto is when compared to more expensive rivals.
Must admit it's great value, the red interior would be enough to persuade me to buy regardless if auto lol👌👌

This is a lovely car, the only downside is that the petrol version only does around 30mpg.
Google MG HS AMT mode and you'll get minimum 40 mpg and a virtual vw DSG transmission!!!
Is there a 12v power outlet in the boot?
no

Waiting for 24 plate hs to arrive in march..a lot of car for the money..
The AC on my HS has COPD.
Very comprehensive.
If you ignore the price, what would you give this car out of 10?
6, but the auto gearbox is a nightmare, the worst automatic i have ever driven in almost 50 years as a driver
@@keithhumphries2109 though it is a DCT isn't it?
Yes it is
@@keithhumphries2109 a DCT isn't an automatic though. It an automated manual.
Don't buy now there will be a brand new HS, with new interior and new infotainment system as well, coming in 2025!
Jesus, the VED is over a grand for 12 months!
But. From what I've seen so far. It doesn't have heated steering wheel. Although it has heated seats. Pity because I have cold hands
I advise you to do some train, do work something on the garden, you won't have cold hands.
The only thing about this video i didnt like is the amount if times you mentioned " Other high priced rivals" goes without saying.
i am 195 cm / 6 ft 4. Will I fit in there comfortably?
I think they are made in the same factory as Forthing 5 . The same interior , same engine ( Mitsubishi 1500 cc ). I like the Forthing EVO T5 more .
The HS has NO Mitsubishi but an 1.5l GM engine. The engine is a joint development between GM/Opel and SAIC and also used in GM cars
That's right, you just think and that is all. MG HS is much more serious car then Forthing T5.
Shame it’s not available in AWD
They are here in Oz. 2ltr
Put your phone on the dash behind the screen. Doesn't go anywhere
The MPG is unjustifiable
i got one now hire car 8 months old and its a piece of crap , drives horid so many faults flashing up
Lane assist jesus most dangerous modern touch on any car .
Don't buy now there will be a brand new, with new interior as well, coming in 2025!
A ‘nice’ feature is you can turn up the radio to drown out the road and wind noise 😂
It is a lovely feature ☺️
It’s horrible.
