My car is the mghs phev which I purchased over 2 years ago, it was about 9 months old . The car was a demo car with only 4000 miles on the clock. And the only major problem I've had with the car was the ev battery stopped charging. My local dealer had problems trying to get the tools to remove the ev battery to diagnose the problem, the problem lasted over 5 months, until mg decided to send the car away to a battery specialist, it was away for only one week, and they fixed the car . But the car is now charging with no problems. And the car is very economical and great to drive, and very stylish.
It does jerk when you're moving off. So what I find myself doing is putting it into super sport when I'm moving off, and after it's in second, I depress the button. And yes, it is very thrusty. I should mention this is my wife's car, and I drive a volvo s40 d5 2.4, and I use a lot less fule. I put £30 in her car and had to top it up during the week while I could put the same £30 in the volvo, and it lasted me 2 weeks. But saying that. I would say your review is spot on. 👍
Wow! That’s how filth these are on petrol!? I have a Kia sportage 1.6 petrol which I was told was good on fuel (it’s not 34mpg over the last 3 years) was going to swap for this but thank you for telling us this

Same around 35 miles for £10 😮 , I wish they offered a diesel , it’s a 2 and half ton car on a 1.5 petrol engine! I’m hoping it’s better on the motorway but I live in the valleys where there are lots of hills so it’s eating the petrol at the moment (HS trophy manual 24 plate , no sport button on steering wheel)
Had my MG HS Dct Trophy in pearl black for three weeks and as you say great drive amazing kit for the money only downside is economy not great and no rear interior lights both of which I knew before buying so a big thumbs up for MG plus 7 year warranty :)
Do you think the sound system is a bit quiet I just got rid of a 72 plate Nissan Qashqai e power was brilliant on fuel and had a great sound system I only went with this for looks although the Nissan looks lovely too I think this beats it but shame about miles per gallon and stereo
Lovely car, ive seen these with red interior looks stunning, just ashame they never made a turbodiesel one of these, id be happy with the 1.5t petrol one, i think when u suss out a car an see how it drives u can get better mpg out of them than is quoted by manufacturer, i have a diesel 1.6 litre jeep renegade and get get over 60 mpg an one day drove about 30 miles of mixed quiet open roads an managed 83mpg on that run driving very economicaly, this new mg hs looks stunning tho, be my choice of next carvin few years, great value an looks as nice as mercedes inside 👌👍🏴
Just got back from a 300 mile round trip to Dartmoor and got it up to 43mpg with the cruise on 98% of the time. ... I thought that was ok to be fair ... And yes the interior is superlative for the money.
I've ordered a HS Trophy auto in Urban Gray (2024 model yr) and it comes with 360 surround camera as well i'm sure is a height adjusted passenger seat. Just have to wait 12/16 wks until it arrives. Really hoping it's sooner than that.👍
Good honest review, this model is on our short list for our next Motability vehicle, currently driving a MAZDA cx 30 ,while being a very good car it is a bit tight on boot space, replacement due July/ August so will be giving the MG a test and will pass back my view of the car.

If your not happy with the fuel economy change the gearbox type from AT to AMT , you’ll get a much smoother drive and a lot better mpg now get 40mpg combined instead of 35
I've ordered the MG HS Trophy manual which hopefully I'll be picking up soon ....this car was one that I'd never considered before but we needed more room and one day I happened to find myself in a MG showroom ...I couldn't beleive the interior in these cars.. electric heated leather seats , soft touch material all over , reclining rear seats , dual air con , electric tailgate ( automatic only), drive modes (auto only) , ambient lighting , adaptive cruise control , electric folding door mirrors and a whole host of other on board tech ..put this up against the Kia Sportage se entry level model for instance which contains basically 5 seats and a steering wheel and that's your whack yet its around £2000 more expensive than MGs top spec trophy ..I'll take the MG
My first & only car so far is a vw polo & im almost sold on this being my next car in autumn BUT finding an automatic to actually test drive has proven futile so far & I’m worried that the drive will feel rubbish after a vw. But the main question I have that nobody seems to be able to answer is does it come with an electric tailgate & can it be opened & closed with the key fob? If some1 could answer that 4 me I’d be 💯 sold on it

Great review, interior looks great. However, mpg doesn't sound good also someone mentioned it doesnt even have have internal lights in the back . I am really not sure about it now.

You quoted the exact same 2 cars that i've been thinking about. The Duster and MG HS Trophy.The seats seem far more inferior in the Duster and I saw a row of black staples in the carpet just inside the drivers door, they turned me off of the Duster straight away. From perusing various MG stockist sites i get the idea that different dealers use the infinity scheme to reduce cars of their choosing but not all models. ie My local dealer seems to give the discount only on EV models ? Could i be right or does it cover all models at all dealers ? I also read that you have to be a member of infinity for 3 months before a purchase is made. That me be worth others checking.
All models are covered. The discount may vary from model to model ...... The discount is instant if you apply for it using the mg owners club. .... There's a small joining fee but it's peanuts. You can also get it by becoming a Cardiff city football club fan ( I think ) ...and signing up on their website. Let me know how you get on.

Local garage only showing affinity deals on EV cars on their web page and haven't replied to my further enquiries. Another dealer in Dartford stated via E-mail that's it's only on EVs currently due to a delay on arrival of petrol variants . I have left my details with an essex dealership, whose web page shows all models and savings but the web page details may be out of date, so not holding my breath.

Yes. Run next to the gear stick and I bought a 12" one ... Maybe could do with being a bit longer but it works fine. I might buy a wireless adapter if I can get one on recommendation.

@@ChrisBarrett-s5xyeh fine. Great car. A wireless one is the way to go I think but you'd need to find someone who's got one and make sure it works with an HS. Phone can be plugged in to charge on the rear seat socket.
Great critique of the HS trophy. I've had mine since September. Whilst on a long run at Christmas I noticed an Amber warning triangle to the left of the dash board which I can't find what it is ⚠. It comes and goes off but nothing changes. Any ideas please. Yours Graham.

Random question, purchased mine yesterday but somethings niggling me, on the dash when the engine is on in the top right corner is a little yellow triangle with a exclamation mark in it, what is it for, ive seen it on a few of these but cant find out what it is. Any ideas? 5:02 in the video u can see it on the display.
If you go to the information screens I think .... Three or four across to the right...you will see the fault screen and it will tell you what the fault is. The triangle is a generic warning of something the car detects is amiss..... In the case of the video the car was reporting no seat belt attached whilst the engine was running.
Fuel consumption is HORRENDOUS, and I’m talking shockingly bad . I’ve had 3 LTR jags that’s have done double the mpg of the HS . I I definitely won’t be having another one when the contract up on this car . £50 goes nowhere in this
I took one for a test drive, and the speed warning when you got 1mph over, or when you go over 60 on a national speed limit road, even if the road is 70mph was annoying as hell…. Anyway question is, can you turn off that warning, and if you can does it stay off after restart, or do you have to turn it off each time you start it up.
I plug my phone in on every journey and it deactivates this. If you run Waze on the screen it lets you know if speed camera including mobile ones are up ahead. Saved me many times.
You can turn that off in setting somewhere, my parter did it for me today! As agreed its annoying and when you go to restart you car again it wont happen. Hopefully you'll find it lol

Volvo is diesel, I get 42 mpg from my MG HS dct
go into the engineering menu and change the gearbox from at to amt mode. gets rid of the lag and improves mpg by aprox 30%

The boot space is very small. In fact it’s no good for a person with mobility issues. You’ll regret getting it.

Overall its a smart choice. I m confused between the MG eHS and the Haval H6 hybrid. Any advice?

The trophy comes with a key operated auto tailgate. And it drives better than a polo.

It's a great car for round town, but massively lacking umff on the motorway!
I just bought a Bluetooth transmitter so I don't need a wire to the phone.
Which one did you buy if you don't mind me asking ?
The only biggest problem is speakers for the back passengers, they are awfully bad!
The audio quality heard by the back passengers ( if I carry any ) hold very little importance for me personally.
