PUR water filter replacement reset red light

  • This video covers resetting the sensor on the water filter. You may see this when you change the water filter but the red light stays on with new filter. Run water for 5 minutes after putting new filter on.

    WOW, bro this is gold. Usually I change the filter a week or two after it turns yellow but it went red today. I changed the filter and it stayed red. I was going insane.

    Dagg!!! After I already purchased another PUR facet Filter. Threw away a perfectly good system (LOL). Thanks just same. Shame on PUR not providing this because clearly it's happening a lot!!!

    Why didn’t I search for this 4 months ago?? Lol I got me a new filter and I thought it was defective, just bought a new one today and the light was still blinking red. Thanks you saved my filter from being trashed away.

    You're the best, Mr. Davenport! We recently replaced a filter, only to continue to see the yellow light (about to turn red), still--and then it turned red. Got another filter package ($$$), thinking we might've been mistaken (getting older . . . did we forget to actually replace it?!?!)--but red, again. "There's gotta be something on TH-cam!" And there your video was--and what you pointed out was exactly the problem. Super easy, free fix! Thanks ever so much!! --Elizabeth and Tom, Iowa City, Iowa

    Thanks Carl, I've been using these for years and have had trouble recently with the change filter light staying red after a new filter was installed. Jiggling the reset switch that you show worked for me too. Wish Pur would fix their parts & or manufacturing process to cure this new issue.

    omg im so mad, i had two filters that were new and the color was stupid red so I used BOTH new ones thinking something was wrong before I came across this video..... you did actual gods work with this one. thank you, I'm annoyed but it works now so.... half annoyed?? pur really killed me with this one. not to mention I'm in my online class too loll

    Thanks sooooo much for making this video. I've googled the heck out of this problem and I wasn't able to resolve the problem with the red light going off after changing my replacement filter. I thought it was a bad replacement filter that I had open so I opened another filter, still the red light wouldn't go off. I continued to google then lucky for me your video was requested to watch first. Problem solved, THANKS!!!!

    Excellent help, I was under the impression my new one was defective. We have to just set the new one in the unit do not press it down.

    OP | Perfect! I watched another couple videos with a guy telling me to blow the screens with a straw to reset it. It did not work but I reckon it did clean the screens up some haha. Your video was spot on. I'm normally pretty good at figuring this kinda stuff out but I would have never spotted that on my black Pur filter. Saved me a headache. Thanks again!

      Yep, the black one is harder to see the sensor/spring.

    Mine looked a little different inside and did not feel like it was sticking, but vigorous pushing up and down for a few seconds and depressing firmly for a couple did the trick. Thanks!
