Glad it was helpful! FYI, if you're considering getting a Suica card, check out the Welcome Suica card instead. It's basically a Suica card that does NOT require deposit, and good for 28 days. You can buy it at ticket vending machines at the airports,or at JR Travel Service Centers in town.
@stephane its true taking a bus could be less hassle but it’s good too that they get the hang of taking the subway and learn coz most of the time tourists will use subway to move around tokyo. the more experienced you get riding the subway and reading the signs the smoother your travel can be. but i would suggest for tourists to take advantage of 72 hr subway pass for $10 it will save you a lot of money you just need to have a good plan.
Excellent videos on your channel. I wished this was available before my lay over in Narita back in 2019 from Thailand back to California. My son and I had a nice afternoon anyway exploring Narita town and temple. I will save this for my next trip to Thailand with a long layover in Japan. Thank you!
This is very helpful. Thank you. For what it is worth, it is useful to hold onto the Suica card. I bought a Pasmo card (similar to Suica and it can be used in exactly the same way) that I first used in 2016, again in 2018, and I plan to use it a third time in 2023. I was able to use the Pasmo card in Kyoto and Osaka too and I believe that the Suica card can also be used in those cities too.
thank you so much for sharing!🙏 you're right, you can use Suica card in those cities and throughout Japan. so are other IC cards, since there's only one IC card network in Japan. and the normal ic cards (not the 28-day cards for tourists) have 10yrs validity since you last used it.
Another alternative if one has time before a flight to Haneda.... take the train to Kichijoji, put bags into locker near North exit. Explore n enjoy yr time here then catch KEIKYU bus to Haneda Airport . Cost ard 1250yen. Bus stop is near the police box /Odeon. Check the website for the timetable . Kichijoji is a lively area explore, lots to shop, eat n see. Just remember to factor bus ride time n checkin time to decide what time to catch the bus .

Hi, I have been watching your videos recently as I need to travel to Tokyo on my own for a holiday in March 2023. I find your videos very detailed and informative for me. Would you mind if I asked you some questions about staying in hotels in Shinjuku which is very near to the Shinjuku station. This is my first time travelling to Japan on my own from Haneda Airport. Appreciate yr advise! Thank you so much!
Thank you! if your destination is Shinjuku, you can take a bus to Shinjuku station (Busta Shinjuku). it's a little bit slower but you don't have to worry about switching trains... the bus also stops at some hotels in Shinjuku too. check out the link here: www.airport-bus-alliance.com/limousinebus/result-t.html?airport=羽田空港&area=新宿エリア&lang=en&frto=1
Thank u so much for responding to my message. I really appreciate it! Yes, I intend to stay either in Hotel Sunroute hotel, Tokyo Stay Shinjuku or maybe Citadines Central Shinjuku. I am in the midst of deciding which hotel is the best for me. Anyway, thank u again for sending over the bus information to me.
@@sharonlee7064 hi, if you know anything about COVID restrictions, can you add it here in your comment? With the rise in novel coronavirus in China, I fear new restrictions may come into play. I am traveling in Feb and have a 17 hours layover in Haneda and planning to explore Tokyo. I am flying from NY. Thanks for help.
Thank you for this video! Going to tokyo next month and staying in ueno, we will have a toddler with us so I am still a bit nervous as the lack of elevators as we will have suitcases and a pushchair, but the horror will only be upon arrival and departure 🤣
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 traveling with a toddler is fun ^^ there are elevators at most stations in Tokyo. maybe try to avoid rush hours. Have a great trip!
Thank you! I once had a layover at Haneda and would have used your advice if I had known at the time to get into Tokyo center. The JR Line 2 versus Line 1 would have been confusing without your video since both showed Tokyo on their Blue and Green signs for L1 and L2.
As always, thank you so much for another great and informative video 🙏 If possible, would love to see a video regarding the most convenient way for a trip between Tokyo Station and Kyoto Station by shinkansen. And have a wonderful day 🌹
Thanks for the excellent video. You have vlear instructions and i find this very helpful. Previously I used the bus to Shinjuku but I can try this next time
Such a lovely video you made. Getting ready to visit in 2024 August (may not be the best time but after a few days in Tokyo I have a cruise around Japan). Show if you can that all signs are in English (in addition to Japanese) so that a person like me isn't afraid. Again thank you for the video.
@@ONEGOODDREAM Don't worry. I grew up in Kolkata. What's "very very hot" for you is fine with me. I may also go to your museums and avail of the JR pass to visit other places slightly (say 1,000 meters) above the sea level. Hope TH-cam works out for you and you reach the 25k mark fast.
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 for wheelchair, you'll need to contact the station staff at the entrance gate to get assistance to get on/off the trains. They will walk with you to the train and have a kind of connector to help you get on / off the trains smoothly. For the Welcome Suica card, technically you can use credit cards but it seems that, for some reason, many foreign credit cards don't work at the Welcome Suica vending machine. so it's best to have some Japanese yen just in case.
Such a helpful video thank you. I do have a question, what do you recommend doing with large luggage. Can we take it on the monorail or should we use kuroneko and deliver it to the hotel/ Airbnb?
Glad you liked it ^^ FYI, personally I had no problem with large luggages on the monorail, trains and even buses. we always carried them with us instead of using delivering service. it depends how far your hotel/airbnb is from the station too.
Thanks for this, we are arriving in Haneda at 5.20 (with ski luggage and bags) and need to get to Tokyo train station to get the Hokuriku Shinkansen up to Nagano. The monorail then the train to Tokyo would be the most direct option? In the past we have use the Chuo taxi service, so this is new for us. Please advise. thank you
Thank you for watching!🙏 right, you can get this monorail to Hamamatsucho Station and then transfer to track #2 (Yamanote Line) to get to Tokyo Station (as shown in this video). there're elevators at all stations that you can use. try to get to Tokyo Station as soon as you could to avoid the rush hour (ideally before 7am). if it takes time to get an IC card at Haneda airport, just buy a normal paper ticket to Tokyo Station. (cuz the goal is to avoid the rush hour!). after arriving at Tokyo Station, you can take your time. (if you get a ticket, remember to always keep your ticket because you will need to insert it at the gate to exit a station or to transfer to the shinkansen.) hope this helps.. fyi, here's the video about the IC cards: th-cam.com/video/WuqIHwuenkc/w-d-xo.html
Awesome video thank you so much! I will be traveling to Japan with my two kids. For the monorail card, do I need to get a card for each one of us? Or can I pay for the three tickets using one card?
thank you so much for watching! according to the latest update from JR, as of June 8 2023, they've stopped selling the blank Suica card that i've mentioned in the video due to the shortage of chips. so i think you should get the Welcome Suica card instead. and you will need to have 1 card per person, since you go through the ticket gate one by one. function wise, all ic cards are the same. please check out the details here: th-cam.com/video/NfUZajhLkPs/w-d-xo.html and also with the Welcome Suica cards, you can buy cards for your kids (6-11yrs). the top-up options are the same as adults' but the kid's fare is only half of adults when they tap it at the ticket gate.
@@ONEGOODDREAM thank you so much for your detailed reply. I really enjoyed your video. And I cannot wait to go to Japan! I also want to confirm with you here, the temporary card for visitors (and kids’ cards) are only sold in the information desk, right? ❤️
@@GYX2021 thank you!🙏you can buy the welcome suica card at the JR Travel Service Center but there's usually very long line of passengers waiting to get their jr pass there, so i think it's better that you buy it at the machine. there's one machine dedicated for the welcome suica card at the same ticket vending corner of the monorail. the machine is in red, you can't miss it :) that machine does take credit cards but it's best to have some JPY with you.
thank you so much!🙏there're elevators at major stations and they're working well. however, there're some stations in Tokyo (especially subway stations) with no elevators. at those stations, they will use a special equipment, something like a lifting system for wheelchair. all you need to do is to talk to any station staff and they will take care of the rest.
Thank you so much for this informative video! If we have three travelers, do we each need a suica card for the monorail and trains? Thanks again for your excellent work!
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 yes you will need to have one card per person. they no longer sell the Suica card to visitors so you can buy the Welcome Suica card instead. Welcome Suica is a Suica card that does NOT require deposit, and good for 28 days. They function the same. you can buy the Welcome Suica card at the same Monorail station. there's a vending machine in red. Or you can get a digital Suica card on your phone, here's how: th-cam.com/video/VFl83UJH0gY/w-d-xo.html
if you're going to Kyoto, maybe taking the Keykyu train to Shinagawa is a better option cuz you can directly switch to the bullet train to go to Kyoto there. if your luggages are ok with the airlines, they should be ok with the trains.
actually, if you're heading that way, monorail is not a good choice. you should take the Keikyu Airport Line to Shinagawa station, get off and switch to Yokosuka line to Kinshicho station. then you walk to your hotel from Kinshicho station.
Thank you for the informative video. I have some other questions however.. 1. What is the operating hours of the train? 2. What time is the last train from Haneda Terminal 3 airport? (I'm arriving late night flight) 3. If i missed the last train from the airport, where can I stay?
Last train to Hamamatsucho is 23:51. After that, it would depend upon your final destination, but there are usually no trains going anyplace in Japan from midnight to 5 AM. If you miss the last train, you could walk down to the Tama-river and bivouac on the bank if it is not raining.
Thank you so much for a clear step-by-step tutorial on using the trains and Sucia card! I'm traveling solo in Nov and still trying to decide on a hotel and location but am leaning towards breaking the trip up into three cities for my 1-week stay. This is a big piece of the overall puzzle of navigating Japan for the 1st time! Do I need a different card to travel the train to Osaka, Kyoto, etc?
thank you so much for watching! any IC card you get, you can use it all over the country. so no need to get a different card when you go to different cities. although if you don't come back to haneda airport, it's properly better to get the welcome suica card so that you don't have to return the card to get back your deposit money. please check out the difference of the cards here: th-cam.com/video/NfUZajhLkPs/w-d-xo.html
@@mellanese thank you so much! and hope you'll have a great trip! Nov is super popular for travelling. so you may want to reserve places (not just hotels, any places that you can reserve) as soon as you could :)
Hello! Thank you very much for the excellent video. Could you please answer my below questions? Location 2:06 1) All the stations have two prices (for example, Tokyo 660/330, Shimbashi 640/320, Akihabara 660/330 etc). Are the smaller amounts (330, 320, 330 etc) are for off peak hours? 2) I will be reaching Haneda airport @ 8:30 pm. By the time I clear customs and immigration, get my baggage from the carousel, it will be 9:30 ~9:45 pm. Could you please advise when is the last Monorail that operates from Haneda to Shibuya? 3) I need to go to Yamanote Shibuya Station. So I catch the Monorail from Haneda to Hamamatsucho, transfer from Monorail station @ Hamamatsucho to JR station Hamamatsucho and go to Shibuya, correct? How far is the Hamamatsucho Monorail station to Hamamatsucho Yamanote Line station? Do I need to take a taxi? 5) How come Hamamatsucho station does not appear in the display @ Location 2:06? If I need to go to Hamamatsucho, how can I choose it if it doesn't appear on the display? 4) Could you please advise if the JR people @ Hamamatsucho Yamanote Line can change my JR voucher to JR pass? I will buy the JR voucher in Canada. Location 2:54 5) You said Suica Card will save a lot of time and money. Time, yes. Money, how? If I use Suica Card to pay for something, I will pay the exact same price if I paid in cash, correct? So could you please clarify how I will save money by using Suica Card? Location 3:28 6) The display says "Purchase Monorail Suica". So the card bought at Haneda Monorail station can be used ONLY in Monorails? Not for other things? Could you please clarify? Location 6:59 7) What is a Fair Adjustement machine? Do I need to use this machine? 8) My onward flight is at 8:30 am from Haneda. Could you please inform me the time of the first Monorail that runs from Hamamatsucho to Haneda airport? Sorry to have asked so many questions and thank you very much for your time.
Hi there! Thanks for watching! 1) it's Adult/Child price. for example, Tokyo Adult 660/Child 330. 2) Monorail last train is 11 something pm. Same for most trains. Check out the timetable here: www.tokyo-monorail.co.jp/english/timetable/1120.html 3) That's correct. How far is the Hamamatsucho Monorail station to Hamamatsucho Yamanote Line station? -- about 13-15 min. Hamamatsucho to Shibuya: about 20min. You don't have to take a taxi. But taking a taxi is possible. it's not so expensive. How come Hamamatsucho station does not appear in the display @ Location 2:06? If I need to go to Hamamatsucho, how can I choose it if it doesn't appear on the display? --- yeah, it's maybe confusing to visitors. it's the last station of the monorail so you have to get off at Hamamatsucho station and switch to JR lines. so it's the guidance for switching to JR lines to some main stations. 4) if you buy the JR Pass, you should exchange at Haneda airport because it includes the monorail ticket. but i'm afraid the jr office is closed by the time you land. in that case, you have to exchange the next day at Shibuya station, if that's where you're heading to. 5) When you pay train tickets by Suica card, it's a few yen cheaper per ticket. For other shopping, price is the same. 6) Suica card can be used anywhere within the IC card network, not just monorail. you can use it at convenience stores, cafes, etc. If you're only in town for a week, get the Welcome Suica card instead. It's the card for tourists, no deposit required and good for 28 days. you don't have to return the card to get deposit money back. and you can use it anywhere too, just like a normal Suica. the vending machine is just right next to the Suica vending machine, same place. and it takes credit cards! 7) It's where you use to top up your Suica card. 8) First train is 5am something. Hope I answered your questions ^^
@@ONEGOODDREAM Thank you so very much for taking the time to patiently anser my questions. I really appreciate your help. So, just to be clear: 1) Tokyo Monorail terminates at Hamamatsucho, correct? 2) You said above "if you buy the JR Pass, you should exchange at Haneda airport because it includes the monorail ticket.". Are you sure? I thought JR Pass is only for JR. Is Tokyo Monorail owned by JR? Could you please clarify? 3) How far is the Hamamatsucho Monorail station to Hamamatsucho Yamanote Line station? -- about 13-15 min. Are you sure? Google Maps says 2 minutes. 4) Which is the best way from Haneda Terminal 3 to Shibuya Yamanote? Tokyo Monorail or Keikyu Liner via Shinagawa? 5) I will be in Tokyo for 34 days. Should I buy Welcome Suica card or the regular Suica Card? 6) At Location 3:28 in your video, the display says "Purchase Monorail Suica". Is Monorail Suica different from any other Suica? Why does it say Monorail Suica? 7) Last question: At Location 2:06 in your video, how to buy a Monorail ticket from Haneda to Hamamatsucho if Hamamatsucho is not even an option in the display? Please please answer my above questions. I have visited Tokyo six times in the past but I always landed at Narita, never at Haneda. This time I got a fantastic discount in Air France which lands at Haneda (not Narita). I am regretting it now. It's so easy to travel from Narita to Shibua via N'Ex (Narita Express) but Haneda is so complicated. I don't like Haneda. 😏😒 Never again am I landing at Haneda even if it means I have to pay $1000 more to land at Narita. Thanks once again for everything you are doing to help confused passengers like me. Love you and your work. 🙏🙏🙏
@@BhatakteeAtma hi, to answer your questions, 1) correct 2) yes, it's included. pls double check on jr pass website. link in description. 3) they're in the same building. in my video 6:20 you'll see as you get off monorail station, you will be in JR station. they're connected to each other. 4)either way, you'll have to switch train once. personally i think the monorail is more convenient. 5) Welcome Suica is valid for 28 days. so if you stay longer, you may want to use the Suica card. 6) it's still Suica card but sold by the monorail company. i think if you buy it here, you will need to return it here to get your deposit money back. 7) yes, if you get off and exit at Hamamatsucho station, you can buy that ticket. the signboard just shows some examples of major stations.

I have to agree. Just found this channel and it's an instant sub for me.
Me too, sub right away. So simplified:))
Excelente vídeo. Muy claro con muy buenas explicaciones.
Thank you so much!🙏please check out the updated video here: th-cam.com/video/FwQBQjtydJw/w-d-xo.html
Planning on traveling in June & this vid will surely help us how to navigate the complexities of being a tourist lol- thanks a lot for this!
Thank you!^^

Thank you for clear and concise video. I will be visiting Tokyo in May and your video helps tremendously. Keep on dreaming.
Thank you too!
Thank you so much for the video. Does the monorail ticket machine accept euros/credit card as well to buy the suica card or only yen?
i was wondering this as well for when suica cards are available to buy again
Thank you for this video!
Going to tokyo next month and staying in ueno, we will have a toddler with us so I am still a bit nervous as the lack of elevators as we will have suitcases and a pushchair, but the horror will only be upon arrival and departure 🤣
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 traveling with a toddler is fun ^^ there are elevators at most stations in Tokyo. maybe try to avoid rush hours. Have a great trip!
Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed to know for my trip.
Glad it was helpful! Have a great trip! ^^
I used this monorail one time, it was pretty nice!
hello from france , merci pour la video
Bonjour! Merci beaucoup d'avoir regardé! 🙏
Tq for excellent video.. very good for new traveller to Japan. Thumb up!
Thank you so much!🙏
Thank you! I once had a layover at Haneda and would have used your advice if I had known at the time to get into Tokyo center. The JR Line 2 versus Line 1 would have been confusing without your video since both showed Tokyo on their Blue and Green signs for L1 and L2.
thank you so much!
I was stressing how am I dragging my luggage around on the MRT but this was very helpful!
glad it could be of some help! Thank you so much!🙏

Nicely done. This will be helpful for my upcoming trip to Haneda airport.

@@ONEGOODDREAM I'm also doing the same thing in 2 weeks! Do you have any suggestions of places to go near Haneda Airport?
Guys don’t forget to add your experience here 😅. I am traveling in February and any ideasshared will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful for tourists. I've now subscribed to your channel to find out more info for my next trip to Japan.
Thank you for your support!
Such a lovely video you made. Getting ready to visit in 2024 August (may not be the best time but after a few days in Tokyo I have a cruise around Japan). Show if you can that all signs are in English (in addition to Japanese) so that a person like me isn't afraid. Again thank you for the video.
August is very very hot in Tokyo. But the cruise plan sounds great! Thanks so much for watching!^^
Excellent video. Very helpful. Thank you for making this.
Thank you so much for watching!
Really helpful video! I really wanted this information, thank you so much! :D
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching :)
thank you so much for this very useful info!😊
Thank you so much!🙏
Great video! Is the monorail okay for wheelchair? Also can you buy Suica card with American debit card? Or American credit card?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 for wheelchair, you'll need to contact the station staff at the entrance gate to get assistance to get on/off the trains. They will walk with you to the train and have a kind of connector to help you get on / off the trains smoothly. For the Welcome Suica card, technically you can use credit cards but it seems that, for some reason, many foreign credit cards don't work at the Welcome Suica vending machine. so it's best to have some Japanese yen just in case.
Excellent and concise video. Thank you so much. I may just use the monorail on my upcoming trip.
Thank you so much for watching!^^ Enjoy your trip!
@@ONEGOODDREAM It's my understanding that the luggage rules on Shinkansen have changed a little but everything else is fine. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for the information. Greetings from Canada.
Thank you!^^
0:52 Hatsune Miku… Is that you?
THANK YOU!!!! This is so helpful!
Thank you so much!🙏
Awesome video thank you so much! I will be traveling to Japan with my two kids. For the monorail card, do I need to get a card for each one of us? Or can I pay for the three tickets using one card?
thank you so much for watching! according to the latest update from JR, as of June 8 2023, they've stopped selling the blank Suica card that i've mentioned in the video due to the shortage of chips. so i think you should get the Welcome Suica card instead. and you will need to have 1 card per person, since you go through the ticket gate one by one. function wise, all ic cards are the same. please check out the details here: th-cam.com/video/NfUZajhLkPs/w-d-xo.html
and also with the Welcome Suica cards, you can buy cards for your kids (6-11yrs). the top-up options are the same as adults' but the kid's fare is only half of adults when they tap it at the ticket gate.
@@ONEGOODDREAM thank you! Japan here we come! 😃❤️
I love your video, I will be traveling with my mom in the wheelchair are all elevator working.thanks
thank you so much!🙏there're elevators at major stations and they're working well. however, there're some stations in Tokyo (especially subway stations) with no elevators. at those stations, they will use a special equipment, something like a lifting system for wheelchair. all you need to do is to talk to any station staff and they will take care of the rest.
Very helpful video. Is there a difference between taking the yamanote line vs the keihin-tohoku line?
thank you so much! they're both normal JR commuter trains, so you can take whichever convenient/available to you.
thank you for the very helpful information!
Glad it was helpful!^^
Very clear and informative video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!^^
Thanks! I'll be in Tokyo on 17 july. It will help me!

Awesome. So you bought a Suica card but then you scan your phone at the turnstiles?
i actually put the card in the cover of the phone ^^
Thank you for such detailed and useful video!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Great video ! do you have tip to Haneda to Kyoto? also do you think the luggage 28inch will be ok on the train?
if you're going to Kyoto, maybe taking the Keykyu train to Shinagawa is a better option cuz you can directly switch to the bullet train to go to Kyoto there. if your luggages are ok with the airlines, they should be ok with the trains.
Great video. Very informative. Thank you
thank you so much! 🙏
So clear and good! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much!🙏
Great explanation.Thank you so much. By any chance do you know which station should I get off to stop to go to Tobu Levant Tokyo hotel?
actually, if you're heading that way, monorail is not a good choice. you should take the Keikyu Airport Line to Shinagawa station, get off and switch to Yokosuka line to Kinshicho station. then you walk to your hotel from Kinshicho station.
Thank you for the informative video. I have some other questions however..
1. What is the operating hours of the train?
2. What time is the last train from Haneda Terminal 3 airport? (I'm arriving late night flight)
3. If i missed the last train from the airport, where can I stay?
There actually a hotel at the Hanada airport but I can imagine is going to be expensive.
Last train to Hamamatsucho is 23:51. After that, it would depend upon your final destination, but there are usually no trains going anyplace in Japan from midnight to 5 AM. If you miss the last train, you could walk down to the Tama-river and bivouac on the bank if it is not raining.
Very good and clear instructions.
Thank you!

Thank you so much. Very informative. Hopefully i can leave the airport for my 20hr layover.
Glad it was helpful! Hopefully Japan is fully open by then...you can have a Tokyo tour for 20hrs!
Hello! Thank you very much for the excellent video. Could you please answer my below questions?
Location 2:06
1) All the stations have two prices (for example, Tokyo 660/330, Shimbashi 640/320, Akihabara 660/330 etc).
Location 2:54
5) You said Suica Card will save a lot of time and money. Time, yes. Money, how? If I use Suica Card to pay for something, I will pay the exact same price if I paid in cash, correct? So could you please clarify how I will save money by using Suica Card?
Location 3:28
6) The display says "Purchase Monorail Suica". So the card bought at Haneda Monorail station can be used ONLY in Monorails? Not for other things? Could you please clarify?
Location 6:59
7) What is a Fair Adjustement machine? Do I need to use this machine?
8) My onward flight is at 8:30 am from Haneda. Could you please inform me the time of the first Monorail that runs from Hamamatsucho to Haneda airport?
Sorry to have asked so many questions and thank you very much for your time.
Hi there! Thanks for watching!
1) it's Adult/Child price. for example, Tokyo Adult 660/Child 330.
2) Monorail last train is 11 something pm. Same for most trains. Check out the timetable here: www.tokyo-monorail.co.jp/english/timetable/1120.html
3) That's correct.
So, just to be clear:
1) Tokyo Monorail terminates at Hamamatsucho, correct?
Could you please reply my above 7 questions (especially Question # 3)? 🙏
@@BhatakteeAtma hi, to answer your questions,
1) correct
2) yes, it's included. pls double check on jr pass website. link in description.
