I personally think it’s disrespectful as hell to ask 3rd and 4th stringers who have worked just as hard as the starters to not go out and perform to the best of there abilities. Imagine being a 3rd string who barely gets to see the field/court and the ONE time you do get to play your coach tells you to don’t go hard and all the time you put into practice was basically for nothing

James Hardin bounces the ball hard at a backward angle then skips under it catches it and shoots it, I don’t care how many steps he takes, if he didn’t “stop”the ball it the steps don’t count. Sometimes his timing is off, but even the double step back they showed in the clip is very close to being clean, and it’s not outrageous they didn’t call it.

Giannis knew that he was taking long at the line, and he also knew that the refs would not call the 10 second violation that series. He was playing well earning his way to the line - at this stage in his development; that extra time is what it took to shoot at that level. The refs & the league rewarded his play, subsequently kind of wanted to see him win (not saying he didn’t earn it). It was very apparent that he would need a more efficient routine moving forward, and that’s what he did.

When I was referring, the main point was to whistle when a player got himself unfair advantage through breaking rules (double or traveling etc..). And we'd try to keep the game look as a basketball, not handball....

Some of the travel no-calls are egregious. I’d like if they’d call it early to get the players to tighten up on the extra steps.
With the age thing at the end it’s just like Josh Primo with the Spurs. We was 17 at Alabama last year and was planning to come back to Alabama but got was getting interest to be a solid first round pick. Did some workouts and climbed up to lotto. I expected him to do 2 years and be gone but if the league is calling why not go.

This video was hella helpful!!! I literally stopped watching the NBA in like 99 b/c there were sooooooo many bad calls that I was like "Aww hell naw, all these bad calls?? These refs must be getting paid off!".... and what's the sense of getting emotions all riled up if refs ultimately have the power to swing clutch games with utter NONSENSE.
Plus the guys like Ron Artest & em were starting to fight on the court and players were starting to act like they're team owners, having way too much say in what shoulda remained as backoffice decisions. Those 3 factors made me switch to watching the WNBA exclusively for years, and though I just resumed watching the NBA, my zeal is still watered down compared to how hype the games would get me back inda day. This video explains a lot but it still leaves a sense of disappointment at the wide range of variables that can swing not only a game, but a whole dang championship.

Refs not doing their job is a big part of why the sport of basketball will never ever take over like football(soccer for americans) internationally. People, except americans apparently, wanna see integrity in sports. If you as a league can't enforce your own rules, shit don't mean nothing and sports fans don't really get behind it.

Josiah Johnson, son of Marques Johnson. His pops played in the NBA in the late 70's - 80's (mainly for the Milwaukee Bucks). Currently he's an analyst for Buck's games.
He was also the dude who went to rob the convenience store during a pickup game in White Men Can't Jump (which he's probably more known from more so than his NBA career... lol)

Refs shouldn't just be "watching the game" they should be enforcing the rules of the game, that's why they're there. If traveling was enforced strictly people would learn to play around it.

Okay look at the NBA in the early 2000s and players just didn't travel on there own. As a pro now you should be ashamed that they travel all the time now. It's a complete lack of discipline and sad cause the NBA can clean it up quick. Just like they are trying to do with flopping
