Appreciate the fact you keep it real. I bought my first set of Bilstien shocks back in 1974 and never bought any other brand for replacement shocks since. Our 1999 Suburban 1500 4x4 came with Bilstien shocks and were doing their shock think 15 years later when I sold it. No looking at Bilstiens for our 2017 Tahoe Z71.
Ahhh life on the east coast of Canada. Hello from Nova Scotia. I spent a few years in Freddy town during my university days. It’s grown a lot in 20 years or so
I put some Bilstien 4600 on my 1999 Durango and was very surprised at how much of a difference they made. Great shock for the price. I Have the Bilstein 5160s on my Power Wagon and they do a great job and look even better.
Nice truck. I have owned a few of these and currently have a 97 reg cab 350 7.3 5 speed. Love these trucks. What I would like to see is…. What is hiding under those fender flares?
I put these on the rear of my 21 f150 as the stock ones were getting weak. Have been a major improvement with towing for sure. Also….i don’t think it really makes that much difference, but bilstein actually specs these to be installed with boots down, not up. Not sure if the exact model number you put on were that way, but mine were. There are weep holes in the end of the boot to let water out.
Whenever I work on my old car, I hit the bolts/nuts with PB blaster. If that doesn't work, break out the torch to heat it up. Might save you a future thread.
lol it was actually putting the nut back on the stud, threaded it on by hand and let the impact eat. threads were questionable to begin but most likely operator error lol
lol I have had my fair share of fights with bolts. I eventually win because I have an assortment of hammers. But I have used my fair share of colorful words along the way as well. At least you didn’t hit a finger or two with the hammer.
1:21 why not just put and electric or air ratchet on that bolt and run it out? Instead of spending all that energy swinging a hammer? If it's tight enough that it wont come out by hand, it means the threads are biting.
So the problem with impacts in this situation is the rubber bushing takes up the blows because the bolt is seized to the inner metal sleeve attached to the rubber. so it really doesn't do much. hard to describe unless you've been there.
If you are not going to be heavy towing a lot, the best upgrade you can do is take the sway bars off and give them to an enemy as a Christmas gift🤣 the leaf sprung 350 sure don’t need sway bars for daily driving or off road
Listen, what do you think - how many thousands of kilometers can a turbodiesel duromax 6.6 go? There is no ecology or catalysts. Now the mileage is 580,000, how much more is left? With proper maintenance.
Love the 7.3 videos man, keep it up!
Someday, I'll get one again.
if you aren't look for pure speed the 7.3s are fun trucks

Sometimes shit goes south lol might as well show the full process. Love the new shocks.

Loving this build series!
Thanks for the video Alex! Things are coming nicely! (Somewhat)! Merry Christmas to you and yours!😀👍
I'm running the Bilstein 4600 shocks in my F-350. Excellent shocks!
Liking it so far!
Fun-shaw representation 👌🏻
Great choice
Can't wait till he takes this truck out and tries to get stuck in the snow like he used to in his old 1500 back in the day.
I put 5100 in the front of my 19 trailboss along with new uca. Huge difference in ride quality over stock ranchos.
the joys of working on old shitboxes! Truck is great, just factor in all new gear!
Let’s see the dyno video 😀

Honestly very happy with them so far!
I want one just like that one, then I will follow your example and do exactly what you are doing.
Is all that oil and grease under the truck the reason it hasn't rotted out yet?
Yes and no, this truck is originally from Western Canada and they just don't use as much salt. but the oil and grease helps keep it decent too

I love hammers and I love your truck
the persuasion stick
Don't you just love trying to compress a Bilstein 😂. Great shocks.
just about blew my shoulder out doing the last rear one lol

I had 5100 on my 17 silverado 1500 max tow, was a world of difference compared to the factory shocks.
they feel good so far!
When you update the injectors, try to get marine injectors. Much more fuel!
The injectors are going to probably be replaced this summer. If things go to plan lol
Probably should have put anti seize on the bolts.
for the next guy - myself
Blue loctite would be best in this situation. Anti seize on suspicion bolts is a big no no

Gotcha... I'm loving your content by the way!
Why B6? Why not B8? I have to replace my Ranchos on my Titan Pro 4x.
Simple he says
he thought wrong

any job I finish with all fingers intact I usually chalk up to a success lol
That under carriage needs a lot of degreaser and a heavy pressure washing
That would remove the rust proofing

I thought about it but we'll see, its not a hard job to do
It would be nice if they actually put a suspension on those trucks...

I was never a tool snob but Milwaukee is king when it comes to automotive power tools.
