New headcanon: Talia is both real and not real, A girl one day thought it would be real funny to catfish Mischa but over time, she started to enjoy his company.
Commenting as I go because this is amazing!! I love the touch of Talia’s face being covered so we don’t get confirmation if she is real or not. The way you can see the love and devotion in Mischa’s fave is incredible; I am in awe. The way your characters interact and touch looks so natural and that is amazing to me. They’re dancing!! That toss!! The cyclone in the background of Mischa texting her. Aww the hug. As always this is so unbelievably amazing and I cannot express how much I love this!
I'm glad you noticed Talia's face being obscured, as that was my exact thought process while drawing her in each frame! I greatly appreciate that the movement and interactions look natural-especially the toss being awe-worthy-that specific one part definitely took a bit to get right. I hc that the end if talia, in the original show it showed on a projection of talia and mischa with him saying, "talia, oh my love". I imagine it like mischa's spirit/soul letting go of talia, despite not wanting to but having to given the circumstances. Him saying "talia, oh my love" is like a way to say his goodbye or his last message to talia before letting his love for her go.

this is probably really stupid and late but the colors of the ukranian flag are blue and yellow, mix them together and you get green, the color of the background.
This is so beautiful!!! It's kind of weird to think Space Age Bachelor Man comes after this, haha. The lighting from 0:40 to 1:08 is IMMACULATE! And I love the detail of Talia's eyes never being visible, letting the viewer decide if she's real or not (I like to believe she's real so Mischa can be happy). 3:00 to the end is so wholesome, but also so heartbreaking, considering Mischa's tragic fate. But I do love how everyone comforts Mischa at the end, rather than only Noel. But Noel doing it on his own is still very sweet and effective emotionally. 💚 EDIT: If you type in "Ride the Cyclone animatic", guess what video is the first/most relevant result? ;)

That was 100% my intention in letting Talia be eye-less (although admittedly, like you, I'm in the camp of her being real because of how much more emotional the idea is). And everyone comforting Mischa instead of just Noel honestly just came from how vivid the image was in my head, original musical be dammed, so seeing that it resonated well with viewers is really good to hear!

I didn't comment earlier because I watched this on my TV in the evening. But I knew going into this that it would most likely make me sad, but it's just so beautiful, no matter how sad it makes me.

holy shit i love this so much! mischa is my fav character and i love his and all the other designs i also loved all the details like mischa's sheepish smile at 1:30 and the fact that talia and the background are green (to me it seems like her and the background are green becasue they are alive contrasting with the black outline of the dead choir) i also loved that you closed it with mischa looking at his phone and getting hugged by the others just like in the play all the frames were beautiful and i especially love what you did with the brief rap part with the cyclone in the background keep it up id love to see more!

You're spot on with yout assumption of the color choices-each animatic utilizes a different key color to denote the fantastical magic of the songs versus reality, and Talia being lined in a darker green is supposed to add to the ambiguity of her existence ^^ The ending, with Mischa and the phone, was actually the first part I storyboarded upon planning this video, so I'm glad it resonated so well. I did make the opening number mashup, but I'm not planning on making any other Ride the Cyclone animatics in the future, so unfortunately will not be covering that, sorry to disappoint. I am, however, still making animatics of other media, along with some original characters, if that interests you. If rtc never happened I like to think Noel became a drag queen in france, Ocean and Constance took over Contance's parents bakery, Ricky and Penny Lamb got married and adopted a bunch of cats, and Mischa moved back to Ukraine and married Talia and had two daughters

This Song is Awesome and Every Story Has a Lesson are low priority for me right now-so I may go back and do them after I finish the other big songs, but I don't wanna guarantee it. I feel I don't have much inspiration for This Song is Awesome, and Every Story Has a Lesson is just short enough where I'd rather squeeze it as a break between major projects some other time

@@finleyforevermore I'm actually not too sure yet! Even as I take inspiration from on-stage costuming, my main priority is getting a design done that's easy to draw repeatedly and consistently. I'll likely be compiling all the SABM costumes available (specifically blue bridge and mccarter's, since those have easily accessible images), and pulling common elements for a unique design. Of course, this is all subject to change-I'm taking a bit of a break before I even think on starting work for SABM. But I'll probably be spending a lot more time in doing preplanning artwork (really gotta figure out how i'll be handling the designs for Zolar as a whole) so it'll really depend on how that goes. I hope that answers your question! Sorry it's all a bit up in the air right now, admittedly that song has been the one I've had the least concrete image for, but I can atleast try and do it the justice that Ricky's character deserves.

I honestly just did not feel I had enough ideas to warrant an animatic + its not a song I particularly care for-I may go back and do it after I wrap up the main songs but it's a low priority
